Thus review is about the Store Director Brian Ziskie. As a former employee for a Meijer in a different location, of which he was the Store Director, until Meijer Corporate transferred him, most likely from so many complaints that were made against him by employees, he would purposely hide in the fashions department and spy on me, which made me very uncomfortable and extremely difficult to focus on my job. He then eventually fired me due to absence, but he and my department manager knew that my wife was suffering from Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and Suicidal Tendencies, which would force me to be absent on ocassion, but he chose to fire me still, with no compassion or concern for what I was having to deal with at home with my wife. So in closing, Brian Ziskie, the so called Store director, has no compassion for those employed at any store that he works at, and when approached to speak with him about an issue you may be having at work, he pretends to be on the phone, or he closes the door to his office and ignores them. The best thing that Corporate Meijer can do and should do is, investigate Brian Ziskie and then fire him. read more

While an email to corporate got no results, I love that our local Meijer store is so fabulously customer focused! I tried the Meijer pick-up for the first time, and realized when I got home that my receipt showed a toilet paper substitution (my bad - I meant to mark no substitutions on the order but missed that). The punchline - I was charged and received NO toilet paper! I emailed customer service, and texted back to the pick-up number. Customer service never replied. The local store called when they got my text and took all the details. The woman on the phone promised to escalate it to a customer service manager at the store, and I heard back again shortly. Jennifer said to wait and see if customer service email fixed it, but just in case she took my address and promised to follow-up and send me a gift card to compensate for the toilet paper (she couldn't adjust the amount already charged). Long story short - Jennifer rocks and I used my gift card today to get the rest of my Thanksgiving needs. So thankful for my wonderful local Meijer store employees :) read more

I live in South Carolina and we don't have Meijer there. When I visit my family in Michigan, I love to shop at Meijer. So many wonderful things under one roof. I am impressed with the freshness of the fruit and vegetables. The store is clean and well stocked. Sometimes you run into lines for the cash registers, but they move fast. This meijer absolutely INFURIATES me. Every single time I come here, the fish in the tanks and containers look absolutely terrible. The beta fish barely have an inch of water in their containers. Betas don't need a lot of room, but it is terrible how poorly they treat them. Yes, they're just fish, but cmon people... it's really not that hard. You can rarely find an employee to get some help, and they're typically always out of things that I need. I hate this meijer. read more

I'm going to go straight to the balloon department. I have never, experienced such slow service. After 30 minutes of watching someone blow up 11...yes eleven balloons I decided to download the Yelp app, and do this review while I'm continuing to wait for the remaining seven. It took 2 pages over the intercom and twenty minutes of waiting for someone to come over and now 30 minutes of blowing up these balloons. It will take over an HOUR to blow up 18 balloons!!! I would have left, but I have a cart full and with the baby I just can't do it. This is ridiculous. read more

Best customer service in Optical dept. Wendy is the rep there w/a heart of gold Twice she had to repair my glasses by putting screws to hold the frame to my lens (because I fell asleep w/my glasses on) until finally the 3rd time it was too far bent, so I had to purchase a new frame. Luckily the only frame like mine available was the sample. And Wendy was able to give me a discount on the frame. She popped my lens out the bent frame and replaced them inside the sample frame. I was able to walk out the store w/my head held high; more important, I could see clearly and had the same red frame that I wanted. For the most part any location on Brown Road is worse than the same store anywhere else and this is true of this Meijer. The lines tend to be worse than others and the Curbside service is slow. The Curbside staff tends to be upbeat and friendly the majority of the time. When I use Curbside here inevitability there are a few items out of stock. But it's convenient and the sales at Meijer tend to be better than other grocery stores. Overall I would say a solid three stars is fair. read more

Came Sunday around 5:00 pm. Walking in was terribly dirty with trash falling out the two trash cans. Inside it seem not as clean as others stores that I have been to. There were 4 carts available to use. I went to the seafood area and the pick of the king crab was miserable we asked the worker Jordan if there was any in the back. He brought a fresh box. He picked out the biggest by our request. That was the highlight. When checking out I went to self check out and my Meijer coupon was not honored. I know I could go to the service desk but there was a long line there also. Just not one of the best stores. read more

Employees told me I could return a gift card when I bought it because I wasn't sure my niece would like it. She said she wanted a different one so I went to return it and they said they don't return gift cards. So the employees obviously have no knowledge of their store policies. Never shopping here again would rather go to Target right across the street. read more

I just had surgery so can't take her .. well after they charged not only her credit card but her ebt and didn't fulfill the order .. now after speaking with the complaints department there is nothing they can do .. so now she had to wait 3-5 days until she gets her money back.. what a mess.. how do they know if that's all the money she had ?! The store just did some remodeling. I am not sure what they are trying to hide, but they cut the light in the store by at least half. It feels oppressive oppressive inside. And The speakers are very loud. Especially near the pharmacy. This store is very frustrating. The stocking is low,. They seem to always be out of what I am in need of. The lines are long, finding help is impossible. The state of retail today is just pathetic. read more

I am done shopping at Meijer. This used to be my "go to" grocery store. Any time I have been there in the last few months there are only two or three lanes open. Shoppers are forced to go to the self serve lanes if you want to get out of the store with any expedience. I object to this practice on several levels. First, there is no discount offered for doing your own ringing and bagging. Second, Meijer and other stores who are doing this are displacing workers. They are saving money on payroll and not passing it on to their customers. Third, it is an impersonal way of doing business. Today, when voicing my opinion to a Meijer worker who was standing by the self check out lane, he replied that it is "the way of the future" and that all the California stores are doing it and having to provide their own bags. I replied that this is Michigan and I do not see this as progress. read more

Cashier was very cold and not sympathetic to the Hispanic woman who needed her help. She wanted to purchase a telephone card, had it in her hand and the cashier told her that she doesn't know what it is. If that was the case, why not ask manager? Maybe she does. Cleared that matter up without her. So yesterday went shopping, check was rejected, ladies were helpful, typed things in wrong, no problem. Checked with bank afterwards just to be sure, no problem. Call today to be sure whatever bells and whistles the register lady set off the day before, don't last for 3 days or something before I waste my time again. I normally love this store. And I'm still fairly pleased but thought I should mention my experience the other day. This review is about their customer service desk Now - the pros are the friendly staff, helpful and they seem pretty happy to be there. I like that they have a lot of organic products, still missing a few, that makes my trip worthwhile. Like 18 kinds of applesauce yet no organic in the kid squeeZ kind even though they exist in the brand market. None the less, the other day I had a return and when I got in line I was behind only one other person. There were 3 people behind the desk. 2 helping customers one doing something else. One customer finished and the guy in front of me moved up to get helped. Clearly his request was taking a while, so much so that the employee was on the phone , on the computer and then at some point took him and they left the desk completely to go to whatever dept the issue was from. I was left standing at the front of the line now with 5 more customers behind me. At no time did she call for a back up sales associate. She did not communicate that they would be with us soon. The employee that was behind the desk doing "something else" finished, looked at us in line and walked away. The other associate was still tending to her customer, rightfully so. We all stood there with no communication or assistance for 15 minutes. I kid you not! No manager, no anybody bothered to check to see why the line was growing and not moving. Quite sad. By the time the other employee returned with customer from their field trip the other associate finished up to call me up. I left a message to speak to a manager but haven't had a return call. I just think there should be protocol if you are leaving the desk with a line of customers .
