I only had one bad experience with a manager. I was overcharged on and item and i did not notice until after i checked out. I politely went to the service desk and explained that the sign said 2 for 3 and i was charged $5 for each. He just looked at me and never even spoke to me and went to look at the sign and came back never saying a word to me or apologizing. Gave me the difference back and still never spoke to me and walked away. Now mind you i was a reatail manager for 50 years before i retired and i would have never done this. I always go out of my way to be pleasant because i know how it is. The rest of the associates are always nice to me. The store is very well organized,fully stocked and clean. This store is decent in a pinch for non perishable. I have only been inside to pick a random dressing or mainstay item. It's not a specialty market and doesn't have the extended gourmet items you might want for parties, but it does have the basic grocery items you might need to make most dishes. The market size isn't bad, it's not as big as some big box stores, but it's about the size of the smaller Michigan based chain grocery stores. Produce wasn't the freshest, the fruit especially. Prices are reasonable here. read more

Stopped in to pick up a few items on the way home from dinner. Very clean store and very helpful employees. Couldn't find an item the young lady walk me right over to it. Truly Mind Boggling - I was attacked by the Deli manager when I was trying to complain about her poor customer service skills at the front of the store. She should NOT be an employee let alone a manger... I waited at the deli counter for service an excessive amount of time while she and another worker chit chat about banking and routing numbers and washing dishes. Finally once acknowledged I asked for salami sliced as #2. -- usually not an issue, today I received a disgruntled dissertation on how when the cut salami it is not the same as depicted in photos. Did not ask for that. I am not a Deli specialist, however typically the a worker would make the slice show the customer for approval and proceed with the customer's request. Apparently they were too busy chatting and wanted to me use the pre cut slices, but they are too thick for my families liking. 1. If the deli is not staffed to accommodate fresh requests it should be closed. 2. If the slice depictions are not accurate- (1-5) they should be removed as signage to avoid confusion. Against my better judgment, I continued shopping. At the checkout , I wanted to make a complaint, only to find her chatting with 2 other ladies at front who also identified as managers. ??? 3 managers with terrible management skills. Laughing and looking at me condescendingly, not a welcoming experience as a shopper! As I was progressing through the checkout line, the Deli manger rushed me face to face , her chest to mine as if she was going to hit me.... Some of her coworkers pulled her off -- is that conduct becoming for your employees? She claims I pushed a basket at her, I disagree, regardless no excuse for her attack. It was assault and I feared for my safety. She then revoked my purchase and a man worker came out and asked me to leave, so I did to avoid further escalation. I choose to not shop your stores anymore- I will drive miles out of my way to avoid the horrible service that has been growing each time I shop. read more

This odd market seems to be independent from chains in every way. Unusual selection of rarely seen products along with the usual brands. But i will say this. They have stuff in stock. When the pandemic hit, i could find TP and other things here when everywhere else was out, and they kept getting stuff in. The staff is friendly and helpful. I went into the Madison Heights location the other day and the employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. They get angry when you ask them where a product is. I just dont understand how people can stay in business. And also they have the most expensive prices I have ever seen ANYWHERE. Whole foods and Fresh Thyme have cheaper prices. read more

Your Livonia store is beautiful, everything is fresh and everyone is friendly. I have shopped there for years But.....I have recently visited your Waterford store to shop for Easter because you are close to my work. I am thoroughly disappointed. When you walk in it is straight to the produce section, everything is wilted and the cooler bins that you keep everything in looked like they haven't been cleaned for months. It's actually so unappealing that I left my buggy and went to kroger which I spent $282 That your store lost out on. read more

Probably the worst grocery store in Michigan. The products contained brands I've never heard of in all my 26 years of life. The store itself was hard to even step in without being eyeballed by a staff. If I were you I'd just go to a Kroger or a Walmart. read more

I love this store for many reasons, easy to get in and out of, there are never (at least when I've been there) more than two people in line even though parking lot looks pretty full. They have a GREAT DELI with boars head and other good lunch meats and a nice selection of salads and other deli favorites. The produce is so good and quite large. I can't think of one bad thing to say about it, I would rather go to this store then any other store around. They have very spacious isles without a bunch of displays in the way. The best thing about Value Center, is it's very clean and I've never had anyone there, who wasn't helpful with what I needed. Lori read more

I love this market. It is so nice to be in a grocery store and have things actually on the shelves and when staff is walking around they ask you how you are doing. They have a good selection being they are a smaller grocer and always have unique items on the shelves. Best part of going here is that when you walk up to a register you don't have to wait 30 minutes like other larger locations. Definitely a plus! Check it out! read more

The staff are always friendly and helpful and it's very few and far between anymore that you find a grocery store that has enough lanes open to take care of the crowd in the store I have never been to the store that there has been more than 2 people in each aisle waiting. the store manager is very rude and unprofessional. the one with the long, dark and straight hair. I returned rotten cucumbers that I purchased no more than 2 days prior to the molding day, and when I returned them, her response was "they were on sale for a reason, you're suppose to use them". Instead of her apologizing for the old produce they're selling in their store, she decided to go back and forth with me when I commented on her being unprofessional. I asked to speak to her boss and she refused to get him. I then asked for the number to corporate, and it really pissed her off, enough for her to argue with me about her being rude. Eventually, her boss came out, the one she refused to get in the first place. This place need better management and someone that can actually be professional and do her job accordingly! read more

I am so lucky to live by one of the best grocery stores I've ever been to. The store is consistently clean customer service is 120% I have never had a problem here since they've opened. Excellent choices and if you don't see something that you're looking for the manager will get that item in for you. They consistently have a great sale prices in through this whole pandemic they've even went step further, no price gouging, continuing to run sale products I would just like to thank them for everything they've done and all of their employees again they have an incredible team!!! By the way the store has everything you need, a great deli, fresh meats and poultry excellent selection throughout the store, beer wine and liquor!! Love Valuecenter for the convenience. The location is easy to get in and out of quickly. The store is always clean and organized. They have a good produce section, with fruits and veggies that won't go bad on you the next day. The only downside is the high prices. When I shop Walmart for my family, I can walk out with a $120 weekly grocery bill. At Valucenter, I have yet to leave paying under $180. So, we limit our trips here to when the big chains are busy (4th of July/Thanksgiving/etc). read more

I agree 100% the regular pharmacist who is there is great but the one you are talking about is pretty much as rude as they come, when my mother and I used to shop there it was superb and I've noticed after her passing the store kinda crashed. The prices have Exceeded even that at target which is unheard of. I bought a soft drink with a deposit a few weeks ago. I tried to return for deposit, but their machines were down. I came back again and the machine would not accept the glass bottles. I went inside to customer service. No one was there, so I broke up a conversation between three clerks to get help (we are talking 40 cents, not the end of the world here). They said that it didn't matter if I bought them there or not, the machine was sensitive, so they couldn't help me. I asked to talk to a manager (now it is the principle of the thing). He said that it was covid time and he wouldn't touch them. Come back and try the machine again and maybe it might work. What!! I can handle that I have found expired canned goods there, I accept that they try to sell halloween cookies in march and valentines cakes in August. Those things I can walk away from. But really, you charge me for something and refuse to honor the rest of the commitment. I explained to the manager that I was not happy and that it was only 40 cents that had me coming back twice. He told me whatever, don't come back if you don't like it. By this time I wanted to throw the bottles at him. What a jerk! instead I threw them in the trash and told them that they should put up a sign telling people that they would not accept those bottles for return. read more

As far as grocery stores go, this one is great. Clean store, lots of room to move around in the aisles, generally quick lines, they have a rewards program (although I've never earned enough points to get a reward) and their sales are nothing short of great. They often have 10/$10 sales, and the other day I got a box of Fiber One pancake mix that was $3.98 for $1. Can't beat that! They also have a lot of other things on sale that aren't in their flyers, and you can usually find meat that is near it's expiration date for a great price. I picked up some Jennie-O turkey breast patties on 2/26/10 that had a sell by date of 3/2/10, 2 packages for $3. At 1 pound per package, well, that's a steal. I bought several and stuck them in the freezer. Parking is usually easy to find, and I guess my biggest complaint would be it's sometimes hard to find things (being a bigger store you just have to look a little harder) and the cashiers aren't as friendly as I'd like, but other than that, great store! read more

When George was the manager, Value Center was a first class store. Now there are empty shelves, (not entirely their fault), The self serve registers are always closed & they just installed them last year. The cashier who waited on me told me to mind my own business when she said she didn't "do" snow & I asked her how she was getting home! The manager was bagging for her & he was totally oblivious til I said something & she tried to defend herself. There is no defense for being rude. The manager smelled like alcohol. I've been going to this store since it opened and now I think it's time for a change. Transferring my scripts to Costco. I know the store & the pharmacy are separate, but people come in for both. I have yet to pick up everything I'm prescribed because they don't check and then I have to go back. This most recent incident, Mohammed pretty much interrogated me about my prescriptions, Just rude. And of course, he didn't give me all my prescriptions so I had to stand in line another 20 minutes to get what I should have gotten the first time. And someone who's first language is English would be nice,. Maybe less error. Just sayin' read more

I went shopping today with my son like I have done before, do to a mistake on part I realized I was approx. $10.00 short and it was for sure embarrassing, the store manager George came over to help, and instead making the situation worse he offered to pay the $10.00 difference. IMHO, this place could be better but I think they shoot for average in order to keep their prices reasonable. Pros: This place has relatively fresh produce, a good deli and cheese counter. Their beer and wine sections are top notch, including the individual bottle of beers section! Friendly staff with many lanes open almost all the time.. Cons: No meat counter, and their pre-packaged meat selection is average, at best. Chicken is frozen solid and top sirloin is of mediocre quality (although reasonable at $6/lb). Their coffee selection is below average, with I'd say 99% of the coffee only available as ground, and much of it stale/old. Not much in way of fresher coffee from local coffee roasters like Higher Grounds and Zingermans (which you can purchase at Meijer down the road). Summary: Could be much better and compete with Meijer, Kroger and Hollywood all within a couple miles of this store. But, prices are better here than Kroger and Hollywood, and considering that, for me personally, it's a block away compared to a couple of miles for any of the other three, it's worth it. read more

My girlfriend(Meredith R.) had been here before, so we decided to go pick up a few things for the house, since we were running low. I think I was expecting something crappy, due to the name, but wow! I was very pleasantly surprised with this place. Like the other review said, it's very clean, they have a HUGE selection of stuff, and while yes, you do sometimes have to search for certain things, I would say that the layout is better than most stores. I thought everything was neatly laid out, and very well visible. I found the prices very reasonable, and again like the other reviewer said the sales seem pretty top notch. Value Center has some of the cheapest pretzels, candy and food in general I don't know they do it - for example, for months they had 10 quality disposable razors $2.50. Pack of 10 Arizona Ice Tea - normally $2.99, for $1.00. Service is better than average. The meat prices, alone, are worth coming to Value Center. Meat is at LEAST 15% priced LESS than meat prices at Kroger. Kroger will gladly sell you 12 ounces of high fat bologna for only $5.00 (That's 7.50 a pound!) I have been coming here for over 15 years and will continue to shop here for as long as they are at 14 mile and Campbell. They have my All Star recommendation: Best in price, service, and quality. read more
