    Pumpkin Cheese Coffee Cake
    Travis B.

Pumpkin Cheese Coffee Cake: Being the pumpkinhead that I am, I've tried nearly every type of pumpkin dessert I've come across during the Halloween Season. Pumpkin Coffee Cake is a first for me though. The version from Meijer seems more like what some would call a Danish, but the 2024 packaging says it's coffee cake. Meijer's pastry is topped with a drizzle of cream cheese icing along with two streams of a sweet pumpkin puree. I was disappointed that the cream cheese did not impact the flavor much and it could use more in my opinion. Texturally, the dough was drier than a mummy. Flavor-wise, it was primarily a combination of butter and cinnamon, with only pockets of pumpkin flavor. I say pockets because only the two streams of pumpkin puree seem to contribute pumpkin flavor and there's not much of it. There's something a little off about the pumpkin flavor, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Thankfully it's a sweet pumpkin flavor and not burning/spicy. That goes for the cinnamon flavor, which is contributed from the numerous cinnamon crumbles on the surface. The pastry improves somewhat when heated as it alleviates the dryness. My initial reaction was this was strictly average at best, but with a second tasting and having it heated, it grew on me (like that vegetation on Jordy Verill). Doughboy approved, but only if it's heated. Just okay as is. Doughboy_Food_Reviews

I have used grocery pick up here many times but today my order was three hours late and the worst part was I ordered a bag of tomatoes on the vine that are charged by the pound and I got one tomato with the weight sticker on the actual tomato! There were also a few other things wrong but this was just unbelievable!

Though I'm not really a fan of the all-in-one department store shopping experience, there are some grocery items I can only find at Meijer so I drop in when I'm in the neighborhood or I'm out of my stash of stuff. The stores are clean, well organized and service is fast and friendly. Overall Meijer appears to have a wider selection of brands than Kroger, but they don't have a Meijer brand. Their baked goods tend to be better than other big chain grocers. In our COVID-19 world they have closed down their in-store dining options, but the bathrooms are open and they're very clean.

This Is a nice meijer in Fern Creek area. I have visited here few times when we are out and about. I enjoy coming here in comparison to Walmart. It's much nicer and cleaner. They have everything you need and are always open. They have a good variety of items for everyone's needs

Meijer has always had what I need. If there's a new Oreo that came out I know to immediately go there. The staff here are amazing at checkout, the bakery has decent donuts and prices are affordable. They try not to break your pockets. Food purchased: Cap'N Crunch Cereal Bread Cheese

You can just about find anything you want /need at this store. The right side of the store is the grocery side along with a separate entrance liquor store. The store was clean and orderly and the parking lot was not loaded with carts. I went in looking for a toy and was surprised at how small the toy section was compared to the size of the store. Toys and bikes are in the back towards the left.

About to make some homemade hummus!!

They need more registers open. There are 6 people in front of me and only two are open. But there prices are better than Kroger.

At Webb's you can get your dry goods, but otherwise it's a very pleasant departure from that model. First and foremost, there is the deli counter in back and the lunch patio. They serve both breakfast sandwiches as well as deli sandwiches. If you pick up your breakfast or lunch to-go, they make everything to order and it's always very quick. Deli smoked sausage sandwich? $2. Country fried steak sandwich? $3. Biscuits 69 cents. Hot wings, beans, chili, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, cornbread. Want a can of beer with your lunch? That's $1. Webb's is also reasonably stocked with decent produce, which is great since there is no supermarket in Phoenix Hill. So if you want to pick up a couple of tomatoes or onions or bell peppers, you generally can count on getting them here. Webb's received a federal grant to provide equipment and support to carrying healthy items as part of the city's "Healthy in a Hurry" program, and this is the result. (The last time I looked in the produce section, they did have a bunch of girl scout cookies stuffed in there as well, but hey, you need to wash down that lettuce with something, no?)

For TWO DOLLARS (yes kids, not a typo) you can get yourself lunch. You will want to pony up an extra dollar though, for cheese (50 cents) and "dressing" i.e. lettuce, tomato, mayo, etc (50 cents). Still, even with chips and a drink, that's a five buck lunch. And where can you get that kind of a deal anymore?? I got a turkey sandwich, with american cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mustard on wheat bread. And I'll tell ya, its nothing sophisticated but it was pretty darn good. I would definitely come back - they had fried chicken and fried cod that looked delicious! Oh one other thing - Webb's does accept credit cards, but you need to have at least a ten dollar purchase, otherwise they add 25 cents onto your bill. Maybe you care about that, maybe not. Just thought I would put it out there.

I was concerned the ads might be a bit and switch, but there was plenty of product available. I snared quite a few bargains. And I grilled one of the porterhouse steaks tonight and the quality of the beef was excellent. As for the rest of the store, inventory is limited. Some empty shelves, limited selection, and most items are roughly 50¢ to 1$ more than a chain store. The locals have to pay for the convenience. I found it frustrating that many items weren't clearly priced. Particularly in produce. Also, OTG has its own off street parking lot for convenience. Is this an every day shopper? No. But sale prices provide a great reason to shop.

You know that scene from The Simpsons where Grandpa Simpson walks into a brothel, sees his grandson Bart, turns around and walks back out of the door? I kind of wanted to do one of those numbers upon entering Olde Towne Grocery. But I persisted, because I do love checking out local grocery stores when I'm visiting a new area. This one looked like it could have been so much better, but instead it was sad. Empty grocery shelves just give off a depressing feeling, you know? That said, the items that were on the shelves were arranged neatly, so there's that. There was very little produce, and what was there was just the hardy stuff that lasts a long time, like potatoes and onions. The meat counter did not look like it was in commission anymore. I guess a sparse grocery store in a neighborhood is better than no grocery store, right?
