I went to Meijer to pick up a prescription, and overall it was a decent experience. The main downside was that the drive-thru wait was pretty long. On top of that, their credit card system was down, so they were only accepting cash at the drive-thru. That said, I do appreciate how they handled the situation. There were clear signs posted, and the employee assisting customers made sure to inform everyone before continuing with the transaction, which helped avoid confusion. Fortunately, I didn't have a balance due, so the cash-only issue didn't affect me personally. But I can see how that could be inconvenient for others since most people rely on cards these days. Thankful with the major snow storm arriving today that yesterday visit went well. Surprised by the wall of new entry devices when you entering the store now. This Meijer is great across the board. The employees are generally friendly, at least a few even amazing. I ran into one such employee today of the deli department who asked if I needed help. I declined but he kindly followed up when I still looked confused and helped me get the freshest naan and pita bread of my choice and pointed out other selections for me too when I mentioned a brand I liked. All in all, the selections and value is good at this Meijer for food and other items. I also use its pharmacy, which is competent and so much better than my neighborhood pharmacy. I could go on about other things I like but I will stop there other than saying the 23 bus of TARC runs regularly there if you do not drive. read more

Pumpkin Cheese Coffee Cake: Being the pumpkinhead that I am, I've tried nearly every type of pumpkin dessert I've come across during the Halloween Season. Pumpkin Coffee Cake is a first for me though. The version from Meijer seems more like what some would call a Danish, but the 2024 packaging says it's coffee cake. Meijer's pastry is topped with a drizzle of cream cheese icing along with two streams of a sweet pumpkin puree. I was disappointed that the cream cheese did not impact the flavor much and it could use more in my opinion. Texturally, the dough was drier than a mummy. Flavor-wise, it was primarily a combination of butter and cinnamon, with only pockets of pumpkin flavor. I say pockets because only the two streams of pumpkin puree seem to contribute pumpkin flavor and there's not much of it. There's something a little off about the pumpkin flavor, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Thankfully it's a sweet pumpkin flavor and not burning/spicy. That goes for the cinnamon flavor, which is contributed from the numerous cinnamon crumbles on the surface. The pastry improves somewhat when heated as it alleviates the dryness. Meijer's prices are climbing unbelievably. I can find the same products at Kroger and Publix for significantly less. For example: canned beans are $1.00 less at Kroger as a weekend special, Sat. and Sun. A packet of shaved Parmesan cheese is a $1.00 more at Meijer, compared to Kroger. Sad. Thanksgiving family dinner. It was a success. Meijer's offered a 10 to 12 pound turkey, green bean casserole, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and 12 Hawaiian rolls. Serving 6 to 8. $59.99!!!!! The turkey was a fully cooked butterball. Amazingly delicious. The green beans had an excellent flavor but a little sparse. Everything else delicious. We love cranberry sauce so I added a can to what they gave us. Everything had great flavor. It could serve more like six comfortably. With plenty of turkey left over. Kudos to the current deli and Bakery staff. A couple months ago, They hardly had any workers. But Julie has come in and things are running much more smoothly now. I have used grocery pick up here many times but today my order was three hours late and the worst part was I ordered a bag of tomatoes on the vine that are charged by the pound and I got one tomato with the weight sticker on the actual tomato! meijer, Meijer, MEIJER. I love you, Meijer, but there are times when I despise you. My history with Meijer goes back well over 30 years, having grown up in Michigan. Before Walmart had 24 hour stores, there was Meijer, who opened 24 hours long before Walmart ever started. And then I worked for Create-A-Card (if you remember them), which had personalized card printing in, literally, every single Meijer location. At the time I worked for Create-A-Card there were less than 50 stores. Meijer and I go a LONG way back. So as far as big-box, full-retail stores go, it's always my go-to. Groceries? Check Sweat pants? Check Aquarium filters? Check Windshield solvent? Check Sharpies? Check ..and the list goes on. The staff at Meijer is usually very helpful (if a bit hard to find), and there's never a team member sitting around doing nothing. People who work at Meijer usually have a great work ethic and I don't know that I've ever felt like I was bothering anyone when I would ask them where I could find self-sealing stem bolts. Likewise the store is usually pretty clean. Not like Walmart, where it usually feels like you're walking into a friend's house, but that friend has 4 or 6 kids under the age of 7 and none of them cleans up after themselves or puts their toys away. They often tend to keep the produce area pretty tidy, which is is a challenge because of...produce. I have one complaint. One, single complaint about Meijer, and that is checking out. As much as they would rather you use manual checkout, some people (like myself) would rather eschew the impersonal and actually have an interaction with a live human being. I hate and I loath and I despise self checkout. I hate that it's impersonal. I hate that the amount of time between "beep" and "place the item in the bagging area" is just about the shortest measure of time In The World I hate that produce is such a pain in the ass to scan at the self checkout I hate that the self checkout talks AT you, not with you. I hate the the very worst thing you can try to check out with is alcohol. In general, I hate self checkout. As a result, I prefer checking out with a p-e-r-s-o-n, which leads me to my complaint (my self-checkout diatribe wasn't a complaint, it was more of a rant): This Meijer is *terrible* at opening up additional checkout lanes. I mean, 4 to 6 people waiting in 4 or more checkout lanes, carts 2/3 full or more, and they don't open additional registers. They'd rather have people wait in line for 15 or more minutes to check out than they would call up additional staff to get people cashed out. This, to me, is Meijer's biggest failure...and it honestly didn't start until self checkout got big. We used to shop at Meijer every Sunday and would always go to the same cashier because your build up a rapport with them and it makes the process a little nicer than listening to a machine yell at you because it took 2.387 milliseconds too long to put that frozen burrito in the bagging area. read more

Though I'm not really a fan of the all-in-one department store shopping experience, there are some grocery items I can only find at Meijer so I drop in when I'm in the neighborhood or I'm out of my stash of stuff. The stores are clean, well organized and service is fast and friendly. Overall Meijer appears to have a wider selection of brands than Kroger, but they don't have a Meijer brand. Their baked goods tend to be better than other big chain grocers. In our COVID-19 world they have closed down their in-store dining options, but the bathrooms are open and they're very clean. read more

This location gets worse and worse. I went to return something without a receipt- the desk lady with the name tag of Charlie O, told me she couldn't do it and there was nobody else available to do it and that I'd have to come back to the store later. I'm 8.5 months pregnant and don't live in this area so that seemed a bit excessive to me. I said there's nobody else in the store that can come help do it? She said no. So I walked outside and called the store on my phone and requested if there was a manager that could come help. Sure enough, he said word for word "I'm not sure why she said that, I'll send someone up there right away." They were able to handle it immediately and she looks to me as I'm walking away saying "I just don't know how to do it, had I known I'd be able to help" so I respond with "it's a matter of just calling someone else to come help..." and she (with a sarcastic attitude) said, "oh you have a BLESSED day." The store was clean and orderly and the parking lot was not loaded with carts. I went in looking for a toy and was surprised at how small the toy section was compared to the size of the store. Meijer always has what I need. The produce department is exceptional. I always end up here, when I need something particular, and they do not disappoint; with 4 or 5 different kinds of kale, how could they. Their cheese department is beautifully set up and there are many cheese options and they are fresh. They also have all your regular grocery store needs; dairy, deli, cereal, you name it. And, if you need a gift or sweatshirt or blanket..., I think they can accommodate. They liquor store also has a decent selection. My cashier today was very sweet and they all are usually courteous. We go shopping at Meijer often, usually the only place we get groceries. But I was incredibly disappointed today when there was a greeter sitting at the front door, and when we get to the produce/meat section, there is a man carrying around a greasy long coated dog and leaning over the food that people buy, YUCK. This means that the greeter saw him carry the dog in, who was not labeled as a service dog and absolutely did not have the grooming requirements needed to be a service dog, and now people are likely going to find dog hairs in their food. So in college I only had access to Kroger. Was drawn in by the clickliat; UNTIL they continuously got my orders wrong etc. Then I found this glorious Meijer. This store is EVERYTHING AND MORE. Do you need cupcakes? Oh you forgot you need towels? Now you remembered you NEED a Christmas tree...they have it all. Meijer literally keeps their isles stocked 24/7. Recently we went in before and after what was going to be a snow storm and heh had numerous employees stocking shelves. I was beyond impressed. The produce section is fresh and constant my changing per season. Did I mention that the bakery does a phenomenal job on their cakes? Because they do. In the last two weeks I have needed last minute cake decorations and they have risen to the occasion on the spot for an affordable cost! I mainly shop at this Meijer when in Louisville. They have very friendly staff. Keep shelves stocked. Tuesday I went there and there was several people with full carts and Donna was trying to help people get to the ones that would get you through the fastest. Another woman and I didn't have a lot of items and Donna opened up one and took us she had a couple more come up while she was helping us. She went over and above helping. You don't get that kind of service in other stores. Hats off to Donna. She is a keeper. read more

There's very little that you can't find at Meijer, whether food for household, but it won't necessary be exactly what you're looking for. I kept thinking this with every aisle that I shopped. I love meijer but it seems like their always sold out of 2 of my favorite items i go there for. The Palermo primo thin crust cheese pizza and the planters a1 mixed nuts, once they sell out it seems to take weeks to get them back in stock. The layout of grocery portion of this store is less than desirable, though the other departments are reasonably well laid out. Some spaces are a little tight, however, for the current COVID-19 situation. I did find several people (or families) without masks who were not confronted in any fashion by employees. I was first introduced to Meijer when I lived in Cincinnati for a few years. At that time, I was very impressed then with the size of the store and the selection of products. However this store has very few organic products, even though they sell more organic products in other markets. The organic produce selection at this stores is dreadful. They also try to pass off Michigan produce as local. ???? Some of the products are extremely overpriced compared to similar stores. Like Wal-Mart, they also have a severe case of cash registers that are never open. I do like that they have more Amy's Kitchen products than other stores, but their apparel selection leaves much to be desired. Earlier today I had an awesome experience with Lindsay in the bakery section I told her I would come back and place my order. Granted I forgot to tell her my name but I simply just wanted to place an order with them today so I can have my cake by Friday. I came back at around 5:30 and Lindsay was off but I said it's okay to the girl there Kirsten I sTill want to leave my order so it will be ready. Kirsten was the absolute rudest person I could come across I asked her nicely if she didn't want to make the order I could save my breathe and she quickly replied okay whatever go ahead cutting me of multiple times. I've never been a meijer shopper but this store is very close to our house and very convenient at times. I'm not always thrilled but it works for the basics. I won't be coming back after today. They have now changed their electronics area to where it's not open until 10. 10? That's crazy. I understand not wanting to be 24hrs but it needs to be closed for 12hrs?
