The store is unable to process credit cards for payment. Card worked at McDonald's across the lot 5 minutes later but not on their system. Employees unhelpful and uneducated on how to handle customer service or situations. I asked for a direct contact number for a manager and was given a general automated system store number. While I'm sure the employee thought it was funny I didn't. Theres lots of other choices in the area for a similar price point. read more

The worst shopping experience I ever had. I reached the self check outs and they were dominated by instacart type shoppers with orders for 4 or 5 people. I asked for them to be broken up so regular customers could check out in less than 45 minutes, no. I asked for a manager while telling them I was moving to check out what ever. I asked that checker to get a manager immediately because I was extremely upset and would not wait after checking out . On completion of check through I said I was not buying due to manager no show. All she did was say it was checked through and had to buy it. Um no. I later emailed customer complaints, they never responded. If I could give less than zero I would. Staff is unfriendly when they can be found, management unhelpful and apathetic towards customers and employees, there are much better options to shop at locally. Not a pleasant or good experience at all, prices could even be better too. Has potential if it could be ran well like other Meijers in other towns such as McHenry which is a great store being ran by smart people. Great company but AWFUL location and choices being made. If Meijers is your choice at least go to McHenry instead and DO NOT go to Round Lake's awful location if you want a pleasant experience. They do not value a positive attitude or customer service here, just rudeness. The customer is important and matters in my eyes but the management and workers at this location seem to disagree and seem to think that customer service doesn't matter. Long story short.... I was grocery shopping and realized I left my card at home. I was already at the register and was .70 short. Richie/Richard C., a Meijer employee, took out a dollar from his wallet and spared me with the 70 cents. To me this meant the world. Been here a few times now. The produce department is great. A lot of good produce you cannot find other places. They have a great hot pepper selection. I have ordered from the deli and it was good. The rest of the store is fine. I did a full grocery shopping there and felt it was a bit higher than my normal bill. About a month ago I was in the RLB store on a Saturday. Naturally, it was busy and crowded. While in the produce area I accidentally pushed my cart past and in front of another shopper. To be honest, it appeared she was stopping to look at berries which is why I did it in the first place. I immediately turned to her and said, "Sorry about that." Apparently, my apology wasn't good enough for her as she began to get "mouthy," with me, making comments about how rude I was and such. I just said, "Whatever," and kept going. Well, she followed close to me and started calling me names like, jerk and a few choice others. After a minute or so, I called her a b-tch. Looking back, I regret loosing my cool like that but sometimes it seems deserved. She didn't mind one bit calling me names but when she was called one, I saw her walk up to what appeared to either be the produce manager or some other store manager and start complaining about me. The irony of this was so rich that I made a crying baby sound, "Waa, waa." At that point this store employee walked aggressively toward me and totally violated by personal space and in an aggressive and threatening voice told me to, "Get out of the store, now!" Not, "You need to leave the store," or "Sir, what is your side of this story?" Just, "Get out of the store, now!" Even when I tried to ask why, or what his name was, he just kept saying to, "Get out, now!" Since I am a senior citizen of smallish stature and had already been verbally assaulted, I felt highly threatened and left immediately. Meijer has long been my favorite store in Round Lake and I spend large amounts of money there every year. But since I am now afraid of being either, verbally assaulted again by a store employee who chooses to be judge and jury or worse, physically assaulted, I have not been back. read more

First time to this store since it opened and was more than a little disappointed. Rude customers and staff could barely speak English. Wasted 15 minutes looking for fresh mushrooms when an employee pointed repeatedly at the ORGANIC mushrooms. I asked if that's all they had and he nodded his head. I'm mobility impaired and did not have a mobility cart, so I was not about to hunt down rhe store manager. My husband purchsed the lunch meat he had stood in line for and we left. I had planned on shopping for a bunch of other groceries, but walked out. Rude customers ran into me with their 12 kids and carts. Was at the store at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon . Hard to know if my experience would've been different on a different day and/or time. Won't be back read more

When you live by two major chain supermarkets (Wal-Mart, Meijer) the choice can often be difficult, but, luckily, for grocery shopping, Meijer makes the choice simple. The foods are fresh, the store is open, airy, and well kept, there is always someone there to help, and the registers always have a body at them. There is plenty of good at Meijer, and groceries are just the start. Meijer also offers quality clothing and a great electronics section. DVD and Blu-Ray pricing, as well as the lack of digital copies is a bit disappointing, but that is a nitpick. There is no better market near home for me. read more

I dealt with a very nice and helpful woman named Sue in Fashions at night in the Round Lake Beach store and was extraordinarily happy with the help she provided. She even appeared to be busy doing things while another employee was just standing around and Sue stopped doing what she had been doing just to help me find what I needed. This is my new go to grocery store. Pros- The prices compare to jewel but are slightly cheaper. You can get high end variety here, similar to Mariano's. The aisles are nice and big The only con I must emphasize is the check out :/ there are no baggers here, and the lines go super super slow. Expect to wait at least 10/15 minutes, even if you are next in line. Other than that, I can't complain! The store is set up nicely and isn't like Walmart down the road where it's a maze to find everything. read more

When MY shopper got up to the check out and scanned the meat it said "There were processing issues with the following items please return items to the self check out attndt. and contact customer. This location is waning on me. At first, I was impressed with the "new" products they carried that the competitors didn't. The prices seemed to be good and the overall quality was normal. But they still are missing items and I still have to go across 83 to get some items. The main issue here is that as time went on, the payroll was cut, making for less people working to check out. The lines can be upwards of 30 minutes and you're usually guaranteed at least 10 minutes on weekends. The self-checkout option was nice at first, but as the lines increased, so did the number of self-checkout users and some of them are confused on the whole process. Then add in register detection errors (like moving the scanned product around too much, or liquor sales) that require employee override and the self-checkout lines become the same length. The biggest negative here is that is just takes too darn long to give them your money. It's big store and it's nice that you can "one stop shop" for everything, but plan on being there awhile. read more

I have so much to say about this wonderful place but I want to point out how excited I am that they expanded their middle eastern /Mediterranean section! I got filafil mix and a couple other little things that I'm used to cooking with! Very well played Meijer! I shop here literally about 4-5xs a week with my 6Month old son and we're always greeted at the door, place is always clean and love that there's a Starbucks inside! I can go on and on about this Meijer but all I will say is that I don't step foot in any other place anymore. Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Target and (I can't believe) even Jewel-Osco have practically lost my business since Meijer has everything! The cashiers are so friendly and helpful, just every staff I've dealt with even deli (love the girls there) are so nice. Thank you. read more

Visited this store for the first time a few days ago and was highly disappointed after hearing generally positive reviews from coworkers. I came looking for a specific small appliance which was nowhere to be found in the entire store, and after about an hour of searching, still was unable to find a single employee to assist me, nor did any bother to ask me if I needed help as I wandered the aisles obviously lost. Their grocery was EXTREMELY underwhelming. Jugs of milk were sitting in the cooler four days expired, and the bread rolls I bought went moldy within one day... before the expiration date! Checkout was an absolute nightmare; cashier took literally ages to process the one family in line before me, taking plenty of time to stop and inspect random items and comment on them and remark whether or not she'd like to try them herself. It took AT LEAST 25 minutes to get through the checkout lane. Not an exaggeration when I say I will NEVER return here. read more

This store is okay. Very clean. Prices are somewhat affordable. Everyday prices are definitely more expensive than Walmart. But you can always find sales. Only thing is their sale prices are only as good as the prices you see at Walmart everyday. So if you do the math, why would you come to this store when you can just go to Walmart? I can only think of 2 reasons why. 1) Now that I live in Round Lake, it's a lot closer to my house. And 2) Quality... Their meat is exceptional. We bought a pork tenderloin last week that was fork tender and tasted like prime rib. Chicken breast the same thing. A lot of the Meijer generic brands are far superior to Great Value. Their chips, for example, are freakin delicious. Better than name brands IMO. (Try their Spicy Guacamole Tortilla Chips). However I've tried at least one Meijer brand product that I didn't like. Their Honey BBQ Chicken Wings from the frozen section were atrocious. At the end of the day... I think I would only come here on a day that I'm splurging or when I'm just buying supplemental items. Kinda like when I go to Jewel Osco. But on my $200+ shopping days, I think I'll stick to Walmart. read more

OH MY GOD!! I just came in yesterday for the first time, I've never been to meijer before but I gotta tell you it is amazing!! Their bakery section is superb, and I absolutely love their apple fritter !!! It is actually open super late, I'm not sure exactly, but I was in there around 3:40 in the morning and WOW the staff are super nice, they all greeted me and asked if I was finding everything ok, and oh my oh my do they have a great selection of stuff!!! I wanted some donuts and I found these Hershey's filled donuts on the bakery section!!! I was super impressed. They taste delicious too ;) this is basically a better version of Walmart hahaha read more

A very few things here are less expensive than Walmart, and only if they are on sale. The brand of bread I typically purchase is nearly double the price. I will only come here if I desperately need something and Walmart, for whatever reason, doesn't have it. EXPEN$IVE. I also wonder how long it will be before the employees become jaded. read more

Thought I would check and see what all the hype is about. Meh. Prices are no better than any place else, but the sales look good. Parking lot was a mess, carts overflowing into lanes, and the main entrance needs a sign stating "incoming cars have right of way" before there is an accident, but the check-out was super fast, lots of employees to help, and I love that it is 24hrs. (I hope those remain, a lot of stores start skimping on staff to save a buck). Don't think it will replace any of my usual stores, but we will see as time goes on. At the very least, I hope it runs Walmart out of town, I hate Walmart read more

This place is my favorite grocery store. I actually look forward to grocery shopping each week now! The coupons are excellent and the savings are insane. The only negative experience I've had so far is that when we decided to do our weekly shopping on a Friday night instead of Saturday mornings, the selections were sparse. The shelves were picked over and disorganized. So don't go on Friday night! Otherwise, the quality of the products and the prices as well as the friendliness of the staff makes shopping here an absolute joy! read more

On the 31st of December we did some grocery shopping and there was problems with the computer system. Long story short, we had to run our credit card through multiple times and finally got it to go through. The problem is we had our bank account charged for DOUBLE the amount it was supposed to be. $289.37 MORE!!! We call and are told we have to come there with a print out of our bank statement to prove that this took place!!! Supposedly they can't find it in their system. Strangely enough, our bank account was charged but they can't find it?!?! REALLY?!?! It's sub-zero weather out and not only do they make us come in to prove it but are treated poorly on top of it when we get there!!! I will admit we were quite upset but the store managers, April and Nate, did NOTHING to defuse the situation or even compensate us for our troubles!!! In fact they were pretty rude!!! We have had multiple issues with this store in the past, spoiled meat and fish! We were not only refunded our money in the past but treated well, received apologies AND a gift certificate for our troubles. So we continued to shop there since they made things right. Mind you those were for items that cost FAR less than $289.37 and we were compensated for the hassle!!! April and Nate chose a different path! It's bad enough that we had to go out in this weather at 7pm to prove we're not lying when you know perfectly well that it's in their system somewhere but to be treated rudely on top of it is the last straw!!! I have been a manager and I can assure you I would have not only been overly polite and apologetic but made darn sure my customer left not only satisfied but HAPPY!!! April and Nate, you blew it!!! We spend well over $500.00 a month in that store!!! In fact we needed milk tonight but there is no way any Meijer store will EVER see another penny from us!!! Love the new meijers. They have great meat sales like top sirloin fillet angus 4.99 a pound. They also have pink Argentina shrimp frozen these are really good. Lots of selection in produce.
