This seems like a good Meijer. They did not quite have all of the products we were searching for, it seemed like there were out of stock of several things. I am not sure if it is because they do not have enough people to stock or if the companies are out of what we are looking for due to depleted supply chain or if they simply do not carry those items anymore. But it's fine. We did find great deals on the books for the kids. I love bookstores and go to them all of the time, but I cannot resist a bargain on the books we are looking for and my child was waiting for the release of a new Five Nights at Freddy's book. It was easy to get in and out of here and go through the self check. I am sure I would stop by if I were in the area again. read more

Finally some well made improvements with the large self checkout areas! Yes I know it's a love hate thing with what people prefer, but for those that do like checking themselves out, this has been a positive update. They still have lanes with cashiers for anyone needing or wanting this service, but the problem with the horribly long lines has been fixed. It's now a much more enjoyable shopping experience. I used to hate walking into the store and seeing those loooong lines knowing I'd be in one of them. The self checkout attendants are always friendly and helpful. Meijer has now become my grocery store of choice for multiple reasons as Kroger has slowly fallen down on my list of places to shop. As far as selection, prices, service, cleanliness, services they offer etc, Meijer has what it takes. read more

Update as of November 2022, still open. Tons of grocery items and home appliances here too. Tons of friendly staff who work here. Recently tech change here is now you can scan your items through your phone. That way, when you check out, it's much quicker than the traditional checkout line. Be sure to download their app before coming to store. Tons of free parking. Accepts both cash and credit card. If you been to a Walmart / Target, this place is very similar in terms of what they sell. I must say between the 3 shops, this place does ha e some items that are really cheap especially clothing. In terms of cleanliness, this place is fairly clean. Tons of self checkout lines especially during busy times of the day. They also have an area focusing on grocery items. They also serve alcohol such as beers and wines too. Also seeks cookware and jewelry too Clothing ranges from infants to adults. Sizes are from Small to 3XXX large. They also sell tools, pet foods, frozen foods, fresh refrigerated foods, electronics such as CDs, phones, televisions and speakers. They also have tons of toys here for children as well. This place seems to be adequately staffed, however It might need additional assistance during the holiday months. If you need last minute gifts/ groceries, this place is adequate. read more

Completely done with meijer. All of their fruit and produce is rancid and rotten. I've never had a bad watermelon in my life, but the last 4 I bought were rancid and rotten on the inside, one of them actually split in half in my hands and was completely dehydrated with no juice. Blackberry and blueberry full of mold and all of the produce is expired a week to 10 days before the expiration date. The best they would do is refund me 99 cents for all these issues which is insane read more

I never saw so many rude managers in my life Bought a bottle of bourbon at Meijer's in West branch bagged it with my groceries the bottle was sealed with plastic and leaked out in my car. With it still sealed, took it back to do an exchange or refund. I understand you cannot return alcohol, but this is a damaged item and they would not refund it to me. Pretty sad. There is a law for customers, though if anybody is thinking about returning alcohol that is damaged, it is a state law that you can return alcohol bottles. Do not refer Myers to anybody. On-line ordering is a total scam. Do not even consider doing this. They advertized chicken thighs for $1.29/lb in family packs. I received two packages. The price on the package is $1.89. They also changed whatever they wanted for the store pickup. The final price for me was $2.34/lb! See the attached. It's a very nasty chain in many respects. This location is very convenient and everyone else thinks so too. The lines are always long no matter what time of day I go. They need more cashiers (and more hustle like Aldi). Although it does have a convenient location and a good variety of food. We prefer Kroger, as we think the produce is better quality, a nice deli selection and generally has no lines at the checkout. But this is our go to place if we just need a few items. Pro tip: if you have a prescription to pick up and only need to buy one or two items they will let you buy them at the pharmacy so you can skip the regular long lines. read more

Saw a sign in front of a display of apples 73 cents a pound, 4 varieties of apples display. Filled a bag of these apples, when I checked out they rang up at $2.45 a pound..WHAT! called it to the cashiers attention, she said nothing she could do about it that is what they rang up as...wasn't so much what she said as the attitude. I finally said I can walk you to the display and show you the sign, of course she was not interested in that. I finally figures out it the old "bait and switch" how many people have bought these apples thinking they are paying 73 cents a pound and they really paid $2.45 a pound but did not check their recipt. This is an okay location. They always have different deals. The store is always busy as well. Once there was only 3 lanes open, and very long lines. Today, there are more open. I am assuming that is because of Super Bowl Weekend. I get better deals on the weekend than I do during the week. The deals are harder to get during the week, especially when I work late and less stock on deal items. A lot of times you will see a clearance section with no price tags on any of them. It is a shelf with stuff thrown around. I know someone that worked there and told me they have a really short staff on price taggers. They only had two when they worked there. High turnover rate as well. People quit their first day. Management isn't the best. I come here because sometimes I find better deals than Kroger on certain items. It is closer than the Kroger I prefer as well. I won't come for 1 or 2 things. I will shop for the best prices and come for those items. Sometimes I will even find a steal. read more

Happened to be near this location and needed to restock my shelves. Never used self scan- taking photos of every item and bagging them. An offer of $7 off $35. The app and all my work shut off partially thru. Went back to regular way of shopping. Lines were incredibly long and gentleman cashier fondled every item. They still don't have the conveyor check out lanes open. I asked employee and she said no check out yourself with conveyor. only you scan so when you shop with 25 items instead of 20 you're screwed because no conveyor areas open. Today i crammed everything in in the u-scan area. The regular lines with employees are too long since slow, so how can you get out quick and fast and you scan when the areas are not big enough?? another mistake in remodel. Over the past few years I've found myself shopping at Meijers more. And since they've put in the expanded and larger self checkout, I find my self here a few times a week. This particular location on Hall Rd. I frequent, early mornings after I teach 5AM yoga classes. Coming here aright after it's opens (hours 6am-12am) around 7-7:30am is the perfect time. Very few people, shelves are stocked, and self checkout is fast. I also like coming here is early because it means I have 1st dibs at all the new markdowns and clearance sections. I've scored some great deals here on reduced items including plant based items, meat, dairy and pantry items. The produce is always fresh looking and items I e bought have always tasted good. They have a sushi section with grab and go, a bakery where you can order items for special occasions, and a seafood sections with lots of fish and seafood. They have great ethnic groceries, for low prices. I buy my grape leaves and tahini here. Employees at the self checkout are always friendly and welcoming, and I look for a certain few when I'm there to say hello to. Meijers runs great weekly specials along with great digital coupons on their mobile app. I find myself getting a lot of things to feed my family (and friends) for not a lot of $. This Meijer is an absolute joke, a sad excuse for a grocery store at best. I couldn't help but notice all my Yelp friends feel the exact same way. I've been away from Yelp for a couple years, so sorry for firing these reviews out. I usually don't spend to much time reviewing the big box stores because no one at Meijer reads them, they don't care what the locals think of their stores, as long as they make that money. After several failed attempts to trying to convince the Grocery manager his part of the store was inadequate & failed in comparison to other local grocery stores (Kroger, Ninos & sadly, even Walmart), I decided to just take my business else where. 1) The people who work at the deli slicing lunch meats, I know you guys get paid by the hour, but to purposely go as slow as possible, so that people walk away and grab the pre packaged cold cuts is wrong. You take all the joy out of making one of the simplest meals at home with out turning on a single kitchen appliance. One reason I go elsewhere to buy lunchmeat for my sandwiches. 2) How can you not have a single lime for Cinco De Mayo. Limes? Not one single lime in your whole store. Not organic, not bagged, nothing by the lemons, nothing by the oranges. This has to be an error on my part, I don't wear glasses, but maybe I missed them. Let's grab a produce associate, "Sorry sir, we only have lime juice in a bottle"..... not the same, but thanks anyways sunny. Well I'll just grab an avocado so I can make guacamole, and grab the lime on my way home. Not a single avocado ready to eat in the next week. Green, and as hard as rock. So I asked the produce associate, "Any ripe avocados in the back"? "Nope". Yet another reason I go else where. 3) No corn on the cob for 4th of July weekend??? That's just un-American dude. If you had a grocery trip planned out for your 4th of July BBQ and you had to settle for canned corn or nothing, what would you do? RUDE RUDE RUDE That sums up my experience. I've been looking for vinyl gloves and Walmart website generally reflects what's available in stock. I placed an order and was able to do a pick up The other day but this time I decided to stop in and I asked where the vinyl gloves were and I was rudely told they're sold out and they don't have any and the tone was completely uncalled for. I'd rate zero if I could. They're always out of everything. (Not just from the pandemic, I'm talking about even before). I really make an effort to never shop here but sometimes I have to. Every time is a horrible experience. Today was my first time using their pick up ordering and they use shipt shoppers. Mine texted me over 20 times because half of my order they were out. Then, I put in some substitutes. Which was a pain in the ass because even those were out. Kroger automatically subs. And doesn't text me 2048585 times. And I get charged for the equal or lesser value, never if they sub it form something higher priced. Such a pain in the ass to deal with this. Love the store but the pharmacy is an issue. Currently I've been in the drive thru line for my prescriptions for about 30 minutes, theres about 6 cars ahead of me and the line still is not moving. I'm not sure what would constitute this. I would go in but I'm pregnant and are currently on an order not to walk much which is why I am going through the drive thru. read more

A lot of bad reviews for this location and that saddens me. A lot of the reviews I've seen talk about no check out lanes open. I feel like this is an issue at all Meijer locations. They all have 30+ lanes, but I never see them all open (or even a handful open.) I prefer the self check outs anyways because I like to bag my groceries myself. I do most of my shopping towards the end of the night to avoid crowds and such. The bottle return has always been clean and organized. Employees have always been kind as well. The layout of the store is a tad horrendous since the remodel. The aisles are kind of cut and disorganized, which does make it difficult to shop. However, with a bit of time and patience I have been able to get through all my shopping with no issues. I wish they'd stock the Henry Weinhard's Vanilla Cream root beer more frequently. It's always on sale but rarely in stock. I don't know if it's an issue getting it or what, but that root beer is the main reason I come to Meijer. Zero customer service. I have been doing orders for pick up here for the past year. Well I have had issues here and there with my orders but customer service has always taken care of it. Till today they cancelled my order before it was even time to pick up. I communicated with the shopper and responded to calls and they shopped it and put it back. Honestly when Meijer first came to this area it was a wonderful alternative to places like Walmart. Unfortunately after the first perhaps year Meyer has consistently had horrible horrible stocking, terrible staffing, and absolutely zero concern for the customer. Although Meyer staff individually are good people you can tell the management is just abysmal from the very top. I can't tell you how many times I have gone into the store and just simply left because so few of the basic staples that I needed were just not stocked. I don't know what Meijer does but they certainly don't keep track of what people buy and what their community is using. Generally this Meijer is good. I end up using the uscan most times, so I don't know the situations that people state are awful with the cashiers. I know the uscan area never seems to have an attendant when im checking out. Kroger always does so I'm not sure why Meijer wouldn't. I don't buy food items here. Only househould products, and coffee/alcohol. The beer and wine area is huge. Tons of local beers and good deals on wine. They carry Valentine Vodka (both kinds!) Which is awesome. The white blossom is not at many places, so its much easier to go here then to Ferndale. The household items area is great. Especially the kitchen/closet area. Well stocked, huge variety and the clearance items if you find them are cheap. For what I go here for, it works out well.Solid 3. read more

Went back to this mejier after some time (despite the bad experiences) because of its proximity to my home. Well that was a huge mistake on my part. I had approximately 11 items In my shopping cart, most of which were large paper products and a Lego set. Upon trying to use the self-checkouts which clearly state "12 items or less" I was rudely sent to a long lined regular checkout. The cashier was pleasant, but extremely slow, turning a quick in-and-out trip into a 45 minute ordeal inside this (still) dirty store. Rude employees and toxic environment. read more

We got a small cake from this Meijer for our wedding because we were out of money in the budget but wanted something small to cut. We told the cake decorator - Brianna - we just wanted a small, 5" cake in peacock colors for our wedding. Brianna went ABOVE and beyond!!!!! She decorated an entire peacock wedding cake!!! It was gorgeous!!!! Local bakeries had quoted us $100 for the same thing (actually less nice) than what she did, and we literally spent $5!!!! She made this place amazing!! read more

The store looks nicer after the remodeling and the number of items in stock has increased. That being said, this is a store that punishes you for buying a large amount of items. There are no unlimited U-Scan lanes, a small number of 12 item or less U-Scans and in general there are 2-3 cashier lanes open (1 is usually a 12 item or less lane). In the last three months I have experienced an average wait of 20 minutes in line - that's way, way too long. There are plenty of other grocery options in the area and you can buy more and more stuff online. Meijer's needs to improve the in-store experience to keep my business. The easiest way to do this is to improve wait times. This store needs to hire more cashiers ASAP. read more

This review is more about Meijer's store management, not the quality of the merchandise or the employees. I recently went to this Meijier's on Hall Road to purchase some bread and milk around 11:15 pm. To my surprise, about 6 aisles were roped off to wax the floor. I couldn't get to the bread aisle, so I asked a Team Manager (the "blue shirt" guys) if he could just reach over the plastic fence for a loaf of bread. He just ignored me, and another customer who also wanted a loaf of bread. I then tried to get the attention of another Team Manager, but he too completely ignored me. I was ready to complain to the Night Store Manager about the two Team Managers when an employee asked me if I needed help. I told him about my problems with his team managers, who IMHO were real jerks. He kind of shaked his head and said, "I think we have that bread in the back, and in less than 3 minutes, he personally delivered the bread. Now that's what I call customer service! "FIVE STARS" to the Hall Road Meijier's employees and "ZERO STARS" for their arrogant team managers! read more

I hate going to the Meijer. Always super busy and under stocked. The only have 1 or 2 lanes with cashiers and you have to wait in the line for 20-30 minutes for service. They more open lanes and cashiers as this is a pretty busy area. I'm being generous giving it 2 stars. read more
