Dear Mehka- You hold a special place in my heart now with your food: your crunchy and no-skimpy filling eggrolls, your egg noodle soup that reminded me of home/mom's cooking, but especially your caramelized chicken wings- they were off the charts delicious! They were perfectly marinated and moist on the inside but crunchy on the outside! We also had your lemongrass chicken and rice. I wouldn't recommend, I would Recommend Mehka any day! Thank you!
Food: Pho Tenderloin and Flank (Tái Nam) (3/5): Less noodles than I expected. It was a bit blander than I thought it would be. The beef was thinly sliced and tender, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. The broth could have used more depth. Unfortunately, I'm still hungry. Service: Not Rated Ok. Nothing special. Ambiance: Not Rated Booth seating.

Had a great Bun Bo Hue here - it was huge, easily shared by 2 of us. The broth was deep and savory and the quantity & variety of meat was good w/ all the good stuff like tendon & tripe. The Quails Nest was tasty too - 2 perfectly roasted whole quails. The skin was nicely crisped & the meat was juicy dressed w/ a light fishy soy sauce. It was a bit of work tho getting the meat of all those tiny little bones. Would love to come back & try some of their many other dishes.
We stopped here for an early dinner before heading to the airport and were intrigued by the Cambodian Vietnamese menu. I ordered the turmeric rice with grilled chicken served in a clay pot, one sister had the bun bo hue with glass noodles, and the other chose the dry Phnom Penh noodles. My turmeric rice was phenomenal. I especially loved the crispy layer at the bottom of the clay pot. I also tried both of my sisters' dishes. The bun bo hue was good, though a bit sweeter than I prefer. The dry noodles were exceptional, and I can see why they are a popular choice. Prices were comparable to what I am used to, so no surprises there. The service stood out as well. The staff was attentive, refilling our water without being asked and checking in to make sure everything was to our liking. It is clear they care about customer experience and making sure guests enjoy their meal.
Wow... just wow. We've been searching for the Cambodian chicken wings similar to what we had in Vancouver BC and this is the closest we found! So much umami. We also had a bowl of their rice and egg Phnom Penh noodles with seafood. Can't identify any of the flavors but boy was it delicious. And the serving is huge so don't be put off by the price!! The restaurant is spacious and clean. Has a family-run vibe to it. Excellent service. Next time we'll probably try a dessert!
This is always a solid place to come for some food, especially their Phnom Penh Noodle Soup. I did notice this time after ordering my regular item that they did have some newer stuff (new to me) on the menu. I will have to try it out next time for sure.
My neighborhood/NE PDX go to for Vietnamese food! Delicious food, and a lot of verity. Super nice staff, and a nice relaxed environment. Food always comes quickly and super fresh and delicious. I like to come here for standard Vietnamese options, but as I have branched out over time I have found everything on the menu is awesome! Highly recommend the turmeric chicken In clay pot, not something I would order, but my gf loves it and it's now one of my favorites on the menu! Highly recommend!
A hidden gem for hard-to-find comfort dishes blending Vietnamese and Kampuchean flavors. I've dined at Mekha multiple times over the past two years, both solo and with friends, and it continues to be a go to spot for hard to find Southeast Asian comfort dishes. Their menu blends Kampuchean and Vietnamese cuisine, which makes for a refreshingly unique experience in the Portland food scene. Favorites include: Bánh Tằm Bì, Chuối Nướng, Vietnamese yogurt (served in adorable glass jars). And the standout: Pandan flan, hands down one of the best I've had anywhere. Their Ube and Classic flans are decent. They also offer signature noodle dishes like Mì Quảng and Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang. My only wish? That they'd switch from frozen liver to fresh in the Hủ Tiếu. The current version tends to be overcooked after thawing, which takes away from the overall balance of the bowl. In general, their flavor profile leans on the sweeter side, which aligns with traditional Kampuchean cuisine, so just a heads up if you prefer savory forward dishes. Other things I appreciate: - There's a separate lounge area for guests to dine or hang out. - They offer a small credit for returning the glass jars used for yogurt and flan (redeemable only at checkout, no accumulating credit). - Free street parking is available, but the surrounding area isn't well lit at night. If you're dining alone, especially as a female, do park directly in front of the restaurant for better visibility and peace of mind. Mekha strikes a special balance between nostalgic flavors, thoughtful presentation, and a low-key, welcoming vibe. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for more than your usual phở and bánh mì fare. Sufficient service with pack your own station for leftovers.
So glad we tried this place. Overall experience was amazing. The decor, the workers, the service was all amazing. Both hosts were so funny and friendly joke around, smiling and gave Vietnamese uncle vibes. I had the pho and egg soda. The egg soda was delicious and creamy and you really tasted the condensed milk. The pho was probably top 2 phos I had in Oregon. Portions amazing with a lot of meat and the broth was hearty. We ordered a side of wings too and it was honestly so much food. Definitely will come here again! The bar is also so cool with really cool bottles of alcohol.
YUM! This place has been on my list for awhile, and I can't call it a hidden gem because it was very apparent that they're well-known in the community. They have a huge wall of postcards from folks traveling all around the world. I got the broken rice with porkchop, shredded pork, and pork patty, which was recommended by my server. This is one of my favorite dishes in general, but theirs was something special. The flavor of their shredded pork was delicious and I loved that they had fried onions on the porkchop. The porkchop was also very tender. Service was great! They took my order as soon as I was ready, and my food came out quickly. They have a to-go table convenient for grabbing boxes/containers for leftovers. Will be back!
Food and service was phenomenal, almost everyone at my table ordered the Phnom Penh and there was not a single complaint. We ordered the eggs rolls (12.95) and the Carmalized Crispy Quails ($13.95) for apps and wow they were so delicious! My husband ordered the Special Broken Rice Plate (26.95) and he said it was the best rice plate he's had, that's usually what he orders so that was a really great to hear! I also ordered a Ube Flan ($8) and it was okay. Very light in flavor and had a thick skin on top, not very appetizing.

Was here in Portland on a short business trip and drove by this joint and thought to try it out for supper. It was the perfect choice and first time here. I entered the premises and was greeted immediately with a cheerful smile and salutation from the hostess. I gathered that this fine establishment was family owned and cared extremely very much about how their business was run. The decor and ambience was eclectic and had their proud roots and ethnographic art displayed all throughout the place. I got seated and was handed the menu and the first thing I noticed was that they had the Phnom Penh noodle to which I am a huge fan of and surprised that Portland, OR of all places outside of SoCal had it. LoL So of course that was exactly what I had to order. I was not disappointed y'all!!! The dish had the flavor and the right amount of heartiness that filled me up perfectly. I highly recommend coming here to try that dish and I shall return to try other dishes on that menu! read more
Traveling in Oregon, we stopped for a delicious meal at Mekha. The decor is lovely. We liked the booth Tables for a more private dining. service was friendly but they forgot our tea and didn't get our tea till the end of our meal. The peanut sauce for the tofu fresh rolls wears just right, not too sweet. Pho chay had comforting broth flavor. The tofu was alright in texture and appreciated all the vegetables. Overall a comforting delicious meal. read more
Got the Turmeric Rice with Grilled Chicken in Clay Pot, Rice Phnom Penh Noodles with Glass Noodles Dry Style and Cafe Sua Da. First off, the Cafe Sua Da is one of the best in Portland but you have to drink it there. It's made fresh with a phin and they whisk so much that it becomes creamy and airy like a mini milkshake. Definitely more unique than your traditional Viet joint. The Turmeric Rice was another standout too. They cook it perfectly in the clay pot where the rice on the edge gets mad crispy and adds a different texture to the dish. Chicken portion was generous too so I didn't even have enough rice towards the end. The subtle turmeric with the tender and juicy chicken can't be beat. It's operated by a family so service is great and feels homey. Pretty spacious and clean inside too. You can tell this place is beloved by the customers' souvenirs that are on the walls. read more

Wow... just wow. We've been searching for the Cambodian chicken wings similar to what we had in Vancouver BC and this is the closest we found! So much umami. y'all! this is one of my go to spots, and today my gurl, gia pointed me to their Bún Bò Huế and it was unreal - rich, spicy, and hits exactly where it should. she's always so lovely, on point with the recs, and makes the whole experience feel easy. this spot never misses, especially with gia taking care of you. read more

Really like this place. Artsy exterior with bohemian interior. Menu features Phnom Penh specialties. Have tried the bun with charbroiled pork and egg roll, and the Beef Pho with tendon. Both delicious. Service is always great. Appreciate the water pitchers at each table. Fast becoming one of my favorite stops in the area. read more

Decent Vietnamese food but also pretty pricey in my opinion. I got the #40 broken rice plate. I don't think I've ever had one that was nearly $21, and it didn't even come with the soup ='( the rice plate was good but also tasted like a rice plate at any other Vietnamese restaurant in Portland. I wouldn't order the banana sticky rice with coconut sauce again. It barely had banana in it, and it didn't have much taste to it despite its name. However, I will say the hu tieu here is pretty good and food came out fairly quick. read more
You could never tell this was a Vietnamese Restaurant if you walked by. It's somewhat a mixture of bar, restaurant, and snack bar. Lots of Vietnamese locals frequent this restaurant which tells me it's good quality. I ordered the house special Pho and to me it was ok. It wasn't the meatiest or aromatic tasting pho I've ever had but it was good. I can't knock it down and I can't sing its praises, it's just ok. The prices however, are kind of insane for Pho. My dish was $20 USD! I guess inflation is hitting everyone including places I used to consider affordable. The fresh spring rolls which are normally $9 Canadian are $11 USD! Pricey considering you get one prawn (sliced in half) in each roll and a slice of tiny pork. That also being said, their peanut dipping sauce was delicious. You get a lot of hipster vibes in here with the set up and their wall filled with letters and post cards from customers/friends travelling all over the world. I think it's worth a stop if you're ever in town. Recommend that they try to make peanut satay Pho. read more
Came here for lunch and loved it. The restaurant is large and spacious, and seems to be family owned and run. The service was warm and welcoming and they were able to answer all my questions. The food was phenomenal. I got a pork broth based noodle soup with glass noodles and the broth was incredibly flavorful and came with a fresh plate of beansprouts and chrysanthemum to add to the bowl. They advertise making fresh broth every day and it sure did taste this way. I would absolutely come back and try many more of their dishes. read more
Maybe one of the best Vietnamese places in Portland, in my book. I've been here several times and never a bad dish or experience. For a party, it's great as they have a large side area with a full bar. But for just some soup and apps, great menu items, and some you don't see everywhere like Bun Cha (grilled meat and meat balls with fish sauce, green papaya and veggies/noodles. Service is fast, friendly and food comes out quick, but is fresh and cold when it should be a hot when it should be. Tonight, we for the fresh salad rolls ($10.95) and two bowls of Pho (chicken $16.95 and beef $17.95). Everything was great, noodles are perfect, and meat is almost too much, lol. Chicken is tender and thin and the beef as well. Their chili oil really makes it too, nice lemongrass flavor. Everything here just seems to have a little something extra or homemade that sets it apart. They also have a great case of desserts, like coconut cakes, different kinds of custard and macarons. read more

Went to lunch with a friend here today. I was greeted upon entering and seated pretty quickly even though the other half of my party wasn't present. I was worried for a minute because I was sitting and looking at the menu, taking up a table. It wasn't an issue for the restaurant. During my wait (maybe 10-15 mins), I was brought water, but wasn't able to get anyone's attention to order an appetizer while I waited. That is my only complaint. The staff are efficient and friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, and we both ordered pho, but different kinds. I ordered pho #20, which had all the variety of meats. The food came out quickly, which was nice. The food was really good, especially the pho. The serving was large and tasty, and they brought extras to add in. I recommend trying them out. They're off of Sandy Blvd., so I ended up parking on a residential street as there is a 1 hour parking time limit in front of the restaurant. read more

TL;DR: great authentic food. Desserts are "ok". Soup is very flavorful and has a "home cooked" vibe. Parking: free street side parking. Atmosphere: more seating in the back around the corner. Menu: minimal images but descriptive. It has a blend of Cambodian and Vietnamese food, but it felt more on the Vietnamese side. Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will be watered, check brought to you. Phnom Penh Pork Noodle: the soup is "souper" flavorful! Has a real homemade vibe and is very satisfying. All the ingredients blend together nicely and is the perfect meal for a rainy day. Pork Vermicelli Bowl with Crispy Roll: the pork is thinly cut and is very flavorful, though some slices were slightly chewy. I'm a big fan of the assorted veggies in the bowl and the generous proportion of crispy rolls (2 cut rolls), the sauce for the vermicelli bowl was very flavorful (a perfect balance of tang, sugar, and salt). Ube Flan and Pandan Flan: flan is so vibrantly colored like acrylic paint and is lightly sweetened -- the bottom "juice" is where all the sugar is at so I recommend starting to eat from the bottom up to maximize coating each bite with the sugary sauce. Overall, taste was not bad, I could taste the ube/pandan, but I probably wouldn't get it again. If I had to choose between the two, I think Pandan would be best, the flavor was stronger. read more
Food here is always delicious and hot! When I am craving a comforting meal, I go for the 10A with soup and glass noodles. The broth is light and flavorful. Not too salty and not too sweet, it's just right. The bowl is filled with lots of meat and noodles. Addition of veggies brings it over the top. Service is quick and to the point. The waitress was very kind and attentive. A local shop that's filled with plants and a great place for family meals. I would definitely recommend checking them out! read more
Solid offerings of traditional favorites and some items you don't find on too many menus around town. One standout is the Vietnamese Egg Coffee, which is not to be confused with the more popular Ca Phe Sua Da. If you like your espresso/coffee on the sweeter side then this is must try. The Pho dry noodles (broth on the side) is my go-to. They are generous with the chicken when ordering the their specialty noodles. Two very interesting must tries: Mango special drink and Ube flan. Quick and friendly service and decent value. This place has the one of the most comprehensive selection of Southeast Asian food and drink. read more

Food: Best place for Hu Tieu in Portland! Both the dry and soup version is delicious depending on what you're in the mood for that day. I also love the amount of greens they put into the dry version. They also don't skimp on the meat! read more
I haven't tried many dishes from here, because I am addicted to the tumeric soup and spring rolls. Based on this meal I give this place a 5 star. Also, the staff is friendly, the decor is nice and clean and they have a full bar. read more
If you are carving a good bowl of hu tieu, come to this place. I've had it countless times and it always hits the spot. I've never tried any of their other dishes so can't give an opinions. Last night, we ordered the fried tofu and chicken wings to share, BBH for friend and a mien ga for my daughter. The BBH was probably a 7/10 and glass noodle was 8/10. The broth was pretty delicious in both. The fried tofu is like any other friend tofu but I would skip the wings. It's not caramelized like the name states and the fish sauce they used didn't awe me. It lacked more umami flavor. The mien ga is still good the next day! read more
