James was awesome. Arrived on time ready to tackle my 1994 Ford Ranger that was GROSS. He made sure I understood what he was going to do and what the cost was. He was honest and direct as to what I could expect. Because the truck is in the condition it is, he explained what and why in regards to the paint and lowered his price based on what he was able to accomplish. The original plan was a good exterior polish but he had explained it might not be worth it because the paint is in such bad shape and he was right. It took me two weeks to write this review because I wanted it to convey how I really felt about this company and especially about the young man (James) who owns and operates this company. It would be easy to say he is a professional, or great at what he does, but the fact is he is an "artist"! And that means he takes his craft to a new level of excellence and quality. So, here is the story. I have this old 2002 GMC Yukon XL which was pretty much deteriorating. It needed mechanical work and I was only using it to haul my 145 pound St. Bernard Puppy (Fat Daddy) to the vet and beauty salon/hotel as needed. So, you can imagine the saliva, hair and other body fluids this big rascal would leave in my truck. In the midst of a negative life event, I decided to rebuild and makeover the truck as a form of positive therapy. So, I began the journey of making-over my Yukon. After all the mechanical work was done, I decided to get the interior detailed. As I had discussed my St. Bernard had basically destroyed the interior with saliva, body fluids and hair (oh, so much hair!). I called the Mel-X company and was contacted by James. A soft-spoken nice young man who quoted me a price for the interior detail and provided me with some open appointment days. The first thing that impressed me was this young man was on time. He said he would be there at 8:00am and he arrived before. I showed him the truck and told him I didn't expect much as the dog had really made a mess in the vehicle. Well, James is a miracle worker, because when he finished, the interior of that truck looked and smelled brand-new. When the job was completed, we got to talking about me painting the truck in two-tone theme. And he offered that his company "wrapped" vehicles. After listening to him describe the process, and doing a little research on my own, I decided to hire James (Mel-X). He gave me an estimate, we set a date and again, he showed up on time. It took three days as he is meticulous and an "artist" at what he does. He made my truck look fantastic. See the photos attached. I can only explain it this way, if you need detailing, go to Mel-X (James). And if you need wrapping, definitely go to Mel-X (James). This young man is the best. Absolutely amazing work! To state it simply, the interior of my car was gross--beyond gross really--and now it looks and smells like a new car. I wish that we had taken before pictures, so everyone could appreciate the remarkable difference. Despite the job taking far longer than James expected because of the years of ground in grime and spilled beverages, etc., James persevered and did not quit until he achieved a result that satisfied him. I would have been thrilled with something less than perfect, but James insisted on working until the interior was as perfect as he could achieve. To start off I'm not really a car guy and spending $100 on a car wash and detail was just ridiculous. But I figured what the heck and reached out to James who was nothing short of amazing. My interior was absolutely destroyed but with his simple restaurant style options of what you want/need fitting right into your budget, you can't go wrong with this guy.
