Dr. Robinson is not only a fantastic doctor but she's also very friendly, calming, and professional which was very important to me when I had to have two oral surgeries. I even switched doctors for my surgery because I was so much more at ease by her demeanor. All of her staff are excellent as well, from the office manager to the dental hygienists. Dr. Robinson is wonderful. I had a cousin die in a dentist chair many years ago and needless to say I am terrified of the dentist. Dr. Robinson is kind, patient and compassionate. She understands my fear of dentists and worked with me on making decisions. She didn't try to sell me procedures I don't need and was took time to explain to me what I did need. She did not rush he appointment and I knew sitting in that chair that I had her undivided attention. I had my gum graft surgery done by Dr. Robinson this past spring. This was my first surgery ever and dental procedure ever (I've never even had a cavity filled), and I had been putting it off since a dentist told me I needed to eventually get the procedure done in my mid 20s. I was very anxious about how it would go, since my mom got similar work done several years back at Harvard Dental School, and I remember how harrowing the experience had been for her. However, my experience at Dr. Robinson's office was thankfully much more pleasant (as pleasant as any such surgery can be). From the beginning, everything was explained to me in detail, all my questions answered, and all the staff were extremely helpful and understanding in the process. The day of the surgery went smoothly, and I was pleasantly surprised (I would recommend IV sedation for anyone who is an anxious dentist-goer). A follow-up procedure I requested was done at no extra charge, and they offer payment plans as well. Dr. Robinson is extremely professional and takes her time with you, and her staff are great. The only *minor* issue would be waiting the initial 6-8 weeks to get your first appointment. However, that goes hand in hand with having a highly rated doctor with great reviews. I have high anxiety with anything dental, and put off getting a gum graft because of it. My friend told me how great Dr. Robinson's team was, so I finally decided to take care of it. Cleo was SO sweet and caring and made me feel less anxious right away. Dr. Robinson was phenomenal and made me feel more comfortable. She also called and checked on me after surgery, and it eased my post op anxiety. My mouth is normally very sensitive and I haven't experienced much pain, just discomfort that is tolerable. 100% recommend her practice! read more

Best. Dentist. Ever. I was referred to Dr. Robinson almost 3 years ago when my regular dentist noticed that one of my front bottom teeth needed to be removed. It's a horrifying experience when you are in your 20's and your front teeth are falling out. Dr. Robinson was incredibly sensitve to my concerns, both aesthetic and financial. I have a long standing dentist phobia and yet have never been uncomfortable with Dr. Robinson. Her staff is friendly and personable and always remember me when I come in. I continue to go back to her office for my cleanings and wish that she did general dentist work as well so I would never have to go see another dentist again. read more

I previously had two implants done by another periodontist. For whatever reason, one of those implants went bad. My dentist recommended Dr. Robinson and after consulting with her about my problem, I asked her to place a new implant. From beginning to end, her services were excellent. I suffered minimal pain after she extracted the old implant and later when she placed the new implant. I appreciated her contacting me after each surgery. The cost for her services were very reasonable and competitive. I highly recommend Dr. Robinson for a dental implant or associated problem. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Robinson's office. I've been going there for several years for several procedures and twice a year for my cleanings alternating with my regular dentist. Melanie Robinson and her staff are excellent. I had gum surgery on Friday and I am still waiting on the pain to come. None whatsoever and this is day 3. As everyone else reported, she calls you the night of the surgery to make sure you are OK and to answer any questions. The swelling and bruising is minimal and controlled by ice packs. Fabulous and professional. I highly recommend her. Be aware she is booked solid, so be patient. read more

I had to have some pretty extensive periodontal work done and kept putting it off due to fear. I needed laser surgery, a tooth extracted, bone grafting and an implant. I shopped around and was shocked by the exorbitant costs quoted by some and the less expensive dentists were not reassuring about bone grafting and the chances of it working. I was actually advised to have a bridge made instead of an implant. Nothing felt right to me. I looked here on Yelp and found Melanie Robinson! Her reviews were incredible so I made an appointment. She was extremely knowledgeable and her costs reasonable. She advised me to absolutely go with an implant and felt she would be successful at the grafting. I have extreme anxiety from years of being tortured in dental chairs and she assured me that I would be awake, but in a comfortable twilight during the procedures. She was so amazing. I had to have a total of four procedures.I was able to get through each one with little to no anxiety or pain. Even after the procedures, the painkillers she prescribed were just enough to take the edge off and keep me comfortable. Recovery was quick and easy! Melanie Robinson is by far the best dentist/periodontist I have ever been to. I highly recommend her professionalism, expertise and bedside manner. Plus you will genuinely LIKE her. I chose to first see Dr Robinson since she was much closer to my house and within my dental plan. I sent an email to the office to setup an appointment. They never got back to me. Then I called and got an answering machine asking me to leave a message. Overall this office exhibits a lack of communication and courtesy for the customer. I finally get my appointment for four weeks in the future. Once I arrive, I walk up an ugly brick building, and end up in a very posh office. The whole time I was thinking this procedure is going to cost a fortune. After being taken to the examination room, Dr Robinson briefly introduces herself and examines me. Dr. Robinson mostly speaks to her assistant, and seemed to have an attitude that she rather be doing something else. She briefly went over treatment options and suggested two. She gravitated to the more expensive option. It would have been nice to get a detailed explanation of what she was doing while she was doing it. Had she built rapport I might have been more receptive to her treatment suggestions. I was then taken into this over-the-top office with designer furniture and chairs. This women (who didn't introduce herself or was forgettable) goes over the treatment option for me. Again, this women did not build any rapport and seemed like she hadn't fully waken up yet. She was put out by me asking her to print the other less expensive option. Overall if you want to pay for prime location and designer furniture go here. I ended up going to a periodontist that was super friendly, less expensive and provided more state-of-the art technology. read more

I had severe recession of the gum for one of my teeth, was referred to this office per my dentist. The procedure was stressful, but then again, I would rather have invasive surgery than a dental procedure. She removed a piece of tissue from the roof of my mouth to graft it over the tooth with the recessed gum. She numbed me up of course, prior to the procedure. One can choose oral sedation, but it's not covered by insurance, so it's an extra expense. Once I was finally done with the dental procedure, I was sent home. The doctor called me that evening, and surprising to me, I was doing pretty well, with very little pain (Ibuprofen and Tylenol ordered For pain). Several days later (on a Saturday), the after taking the prescribed antibiotic (ordered as a prophylactic), I had a severe allergic reaction. I messaged the doctor, was advised to take Benadryl-if it was an anaphylactic response-go to ER. I tried taking Benadryl, but after 2 days of misery-and the rash spreading to my neck, hands, and tops of my feet- I relented, and went to my PCP who immediately prescribed me a steroid and a medication for itching. Overall, I had expected better results from the grafting-but there is no guarantee. I do wish the allergic reaction would have been handled better, as I had an extra $150 I paid out of picket to see my PCP, when the doctor (that performed the procedure) could have handled it by calling in an oral steroid and a medication to help with the severe itching. read more

I've seen Dr. Robinson for two procedures and she is great at explaining her diagnosis and pleasantly responsive to questions. I do think the paperwork on health history, etc., is too detailed. The paperwork is sent in advance, but I didn't take the time to fill it out and had to do so in the office by checking all those little boxes. I suggested to the receptionist that maybe they could print or send the patient's prior history and ask for any changes. She didn't take it well - turned a little frosty on me. Instead of no response and a glare, the appropriate response would be something like, "thanks for the suggestion. I'll pass it on." Also, the process of having to go to another room after the initial visit and have the cost and services explained to me seemed bureaucratic. I know it has to be done, but I kept thinking, "this is why dental work has gotten so expensive - so many staff." read more

Great job - made my teenaged son very comfortable! Our teenaged son is very nervous about needles. Dr Robinson took that into consideration and made the whole experience as comfortable as possible. The gum graft was done in August this year and all is well. The procedure and recovery was much easier than we anticipated. Dr Robinson was recommended by our dentist and made everything easy and did a great job. The office was very responsive and helpful when I called with questions about the recovery process and what was allowed/not allowed. After having braces removed, my daughter's gums needed to be reduced to make room for some additional work. Doctor Robinson came highly recommended and after seeing the results, I can see why. Wow, what a professional office. I was a little nervous to have to go to Periodontist but everyone in the office made me feel a ease. I am going to have laser surgery and was told every step of what I am going to face which made me feel a lot better. I was greeted at the front desk by a very nice young lady who had all my paperwork ready and within 10 minutes I was in the chair and ready for my examination. Dr. Robinson took the time to explain my x-rays and show me exactly what was wrong and what she would do to fix my problem. After the exam I was shown a movie and the laser surgery and as soon as the movie was over I spoke with Brenda (the insurance lady) who explained all of my options for payment. She took the time to answer any questions I had about my insurance and what was covered. So professional. I was impressed by Dr. Robinson's office and staff. When I have my surgery I know that I will receive the best treatment by all the staff members. I have had some issues in the past with dental offices and surprise charges but I know that I can count on the information that was given to me so I can make the best decision for my treatment. My dentist recommended Dr. Robinson for the gum graft surgery that I needed. Due to the number of teeth involved, the surgery done in two phases over the past few months. The outcomes are beautiful, and the collective experience was outstanding. If you need a periodontal treatment, Dr. Robinson is, quite simply, the best. She provided accurate assessment and put together a great treatment plan for me, communicating all steps of the surgery and follow-ups. After each surgery, Dr. Robinson called me at home that evening to check in on me and how I was feeling. Dr. Robinson's team is equally fabulous. Everyone is on top of their game, with excellent communication skills, processing of insurance and scheduling considerations. Dr. Robinson is fine, but her staff is insufferable. Those at the front desk are impossibly condescending, rude and unhelpful, so my family is taking its business elsewhere. Examples abound, but here's today's: I received a text that my appointment was on June 2, then another text that it was on June 13. I called and they said I didn't have an appointment June 2. Around the same time my wife stopped by the office and they said I didn't have one on June 13; it was June 2. On neither occasion could they/would they discuss what was going to happen and were rude in sharing that opinion. Scheduling has been a nightmare for months. The office of the referring dentist confirmed they've heard reports about how rude her staff is. It's sad, because Dr. Robinson is good. read more

Dr. Robinson removed a right rear molar that had gone bad under a deteriorated crown that had been noted by previous dentists, but never acted upon for decades. Dr. Robinson was decisive and provided a clear explanation of what needed to be done with the molar. The extraction was done without pain and discomfort to me. I take an anti-coagulant due to a heart problem and Dr. Robinson called me at home early in the evening after I left the Austin Periodontics office. I reported that I was experiencing significant bleeding and she said that she would call back later in the evening and 3 hours later she called again and asked for an update. I reported that the bleeding level seemed improved. She said that she would have someone in the office check with me the next morning. At 9:00 AM the next day, I received a call from one of her staffers. I reported that the bleeding seemed to be improving by the hour and I was told to call the after-hours emergency number if the condition didn't improve. As the day went on into the next day and the next..., I made no further calls. I went in for the post-op examination and Dr. Robinson told me that the incision was "healing nicely," I ate my first non-resticted (soft foods only) this evening, I feel very good about my treatment.
