They were stuffed with a great crispy flavorful shell. The kale salad was a take to a Ceasar salad. You can taste the bits of anchoives which wasn't overly salty. My sister had the burger that had flavorful juices leak through the bread. Definitely had to grab a bite. My wide and I split their sampler of meats on a sizzling plate. Cant remember the name of the dish. The blood sausage was great. And the various meats was unbelievable. My daughter had the ravioli that was perfectly cooked with a refreshing lightly acidic sauce. Will return. Just remember to bring cash

Good lighting, good music, and the hostess was nice. We started with the gruyere and fontina empanadas and honestly that combo is one of my favs. Cheesy, simple, and comforting. I liked the Uruguayan sausage more than I expected, especially since it was easy to share. The octopus with lima beans was good but got a little lost with all the beans. The chicken liver pate could have been great, but the toast was real bad and didn't let the dish shine the way it should have. The halibut ended up being my favorite entree of the night. Fresh and balanced with the broccolini. The flan was amazing, creamy, smooth, not too sweet. I would absolutely order that again. Some dishes were more hit or miss. The squid ink ravioli sounded good on the menu but came out a bit under seasoned and not as warm as it should have been. The short ribs were tender and nicely braised, just pretty standard. Good, but not memorable. Service was inconsistent and not as attentive. A few dishes could have been more thoughtful with timing and temperature. We did not get to try the ribeye or skirt steak this time. Overall it feels like a place with potential. Not a bad experience, just a bit hit or miss for me to travel the distance for.

We asked that they include the croquettes among the tapas and we chose the squid ink paella. The croquettes, pork, brussel sprouts, and potato were all perfect and exceptional. The tees leches cake was perfectly moist and not overly sweet as well. I wish there was a little more seafood in the paella l, but the taste was still amazing. The bruschetta and asparagus were delicious, but left something to be desired compared to the other dishes. The bartender was amazing (we sat at the bar), but very busy, so service was a little slow.

I was greeted greatly, even with only a few minutes before last call for dinner service. The server and the bartender was reallt friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. Gave me really great options. For food I had the Spanish Olives, Pop a La Pedra, & the Croquetes Del Dia(made fresh every day and changes as well). I had a old fashion to drink, needed something that will warm me up for the cold weather. The ambiance was cute, and chic. You can tell that the workers run it like a little food family and I love that the most about El Born. Will definitely come again ans try out their brunch , heard it was amazing.

And they taste delicious. I felt like the servings were huge!!! Immediately walking in, I was greeted and sat down. My order was taken quickly too. It was a busy day but my food still came out within 10 minutes. And good thing too because I was starving. I got the pollo arepa and pollo empanada. Looovveee how soft the pollo empanada is... it's so dang fluffy. That was my first time having an empanada with that kind of dough. I have to say that I prefer it. Wish Filipinos used that dough when we make our empanadas. lol. The pollo arepa was everything!!! I had never had an arepa until the day I had one here. The meat was seasoned so nicely in their tomato based sauce. And the actual arepa... soft yet had a bit of a crunch. It was the perfect textures for me. I also enjoyed their soursop juice. It paired perfectly with my meal. My friend got the pernil arepa and was impressed by the taste and the green sauce. I didn't get much information out of him other than it was hitting the spot lol. Definitely a solid place to go in the area. It's kind of medium sized in there but there is plenty of seating if you're with a party no bigger than 3 or 4 people. I think most people come in here for a grab and go situation. But it's cool to hang around to watch the kitchen at work and hear the music.

When I had gotten home, I realized he had given me the wrong order. I had to walk back to the restaurant. When I explained the mistake, the employee at the register (wearing black square glasses) became defensive and repeatedly insisted that the error was my fault. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he spoke to me in a demeaning and confrontational manner. I have an auto immune disease where I am limited to what I can eat. He didn't want to redo my order because "it was my fault" and I told him what he gave me I cannot eat, so he finally agreed. I was done arguing with him so I stood their silently. The whole entire time as they were re-making the order he repeatedly tells me that this was my mistake and not his. I get that the misunderstanding may have been partly my fault because I wasn't specific in which chicken option I wanted, and I acknowledged that to him. However, that does not justify speaking to a customer in a belittling or disrespectful manner. Mistakes happen, but the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional. Because of this experience, I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this restaurant to others in the Bushwick community.
