I hadn't been to Melao in a long time so we stopped for breakfast after church. The restaurant is super outdated and definitely needs some upgrades but the food was good. It was pretty busy for such an early time but service was quick. We did experience some rudeness from a staff member named Ileana. She was also rude to her co-workers in front of other customers which we felt uncomfortable with and was highly disappointed on. Overall, the food was good and they have several breakfast and lunch options for everyone.

I have had food from all over the world and my mom is Costa Rican, so imagine my surprise when they advertise Mofongo. A delicious dish that I had never even heard of let alone tried. It was worth the wait and what a wait. About 25 minutes to place your order and then 45 minutes to get your order. I was so confused as to what is going on here. We're in a line to order food but there is a separate line for the baker items and after we order and are told to go sit, there is a third line: for the lunch buffet. They charge by the pound at the buffet. After 45 minutes, they called my name and I went up to get my wife's Mofongo and my breakfast special. My breakfast was so delicious. the bread was awesome, it tasted like Hawaiian bread. Eggs, ham all on top of plantains. For like $6. The coffee is NOT a drip but an expresso turned into an Americano. Place is huge, super busy and jumping. People were very happy to be here regardless of the waiting time.

Typically the tripleta is something I order at every Puerto Rican sub establishment. I was excited knowing that this is not a chain and locally owned. We had to wait a bit for the order as well, so I figured it would be hot and/or fresh. We had ordered three subs, only one of them was hot. The meat in the tripleta was thick and a bit tough to chew through. I couldn't taste anything other than the pernil and tomato. The medianoche was the only hot sub where we could properly taste all the ingredients on. We ended up getting an Oreo cheesecake as well, but it tasted like something was off about the whipped cream. It was also freezing cold, so you had to almost let it melt in your mouth before you could properly taste it.

Haven't visited Melao in a long time and decided to go for breakfast. When we first arrived it wasn't too busy and shortly after got very busy. I like that you can order at the counter or at a kiosk. But the initial thought as you walk in is the old and outdated. Definitely needs some renovations to the location. As for staff the interaction with the lady at register taking orders was good but the lady at the pick up counter, Ileana, was very rude. She was yelling at everyone including customers. As for food it was good but I've had better. The major disappointment was I ordered a quesito and it was cold as if they just took it out of the refrigerator so it was horrible. I should've gone back to return it but it was busy so just took it home and warmed it up. Also the toast with butter barely had any butter making super dry and hard to eat. Definitely want a good experience and don't see myself going back.

Was a bad experience & Not a good representation for authentic Puerto Rican food. The wait for the food was terrible. Pasteles had very little meat and very bland. Shrimp was very salty the rice was over cooked and the beans was the only saving factor of the meal but after 4 bites that was enough.

I love everything on the food and dessert menu. There's always a small wait time since it is a popular spot but service is pretty quick for all orders made to eat. Highly recommend!

We had a great Cuban sandwich and a pineapple yellow cake for desert. Both were excellent. The Cuban has to be one of the best in town.

Sandwiches are pricey and they are actually small. It does take a while to get your order too. Try FL bakery. They are better and way cheaper.

Wow! This place has some amazing dishes mostly Puerto Richowever we went to check them for the sandwiches which is hard because all look delicious, we went for the tripletongo wrap a slow cooked pork, ham, beefsteak swiss cheese pressed sandwich which includes lettuce, tomatoes mofongo and mayoketchup, i could not say enough its a must have. Most of the dishes all look delicious including their prepared meals which you can get a take home full meal. Busiest times seem to after 12noon, but the service was quick. We each had also a shake of passion fruit which was amazing, but next time I would like to try their nutella coffee sounds like heaven. Breakfast is also served in addition to lunch both range in prices between 8.99 to 22.00 with 22.00 being a full meal. The place is pretty big for seating enough people without feeling overwhelmed. If ever in the Orlando area highly recommend going to the Orlando location, but they also have one in Kissimmee.

Great service and even better food! This bakery made me feel like I was back in Puerto Rico. From the friendly service to the pastries, the coffee and the sandwiches, Melao is where you need to go. We ordered sandwiches and coffee and a pastry. The sandwiches are Huge!!! I had my favorite donut. It's a sugar donut I used to have as a kid. My husband had the quesito pastry. Would definitely go back for the pastrami sandwich.

Best and most authentic Puerto Rican food I've had outside the island. This place is packed with a ton of delicious food options. They also have a bakery to full of treats. They also had my favorite bread "pan sobao" fresh and warm. Don't let the full parking lot scare you away. The service is definitely not slow. And there's plenty of seating inside for all. Thus, the crowd alone suggests nothing but goodness.

I love stopping by this bakery whenever I am in this area. The baked goods are delicious. My favorites are the sugar donuts and the quesitos. They have 3 different lines to order, bakery line, to go line, cafeteria style line for all the other food on the steam food line. The staff is great, they get you in and out. The dining area is a large cafeteria style, it work, people move in and out of the seating, so don't stress if it is packed.

There are very few places like Melao Bakery in Orlando. If you want to truly taste, Puerto Rican cuisine in Orlando this is the place to go. The service is impeccable. The food is impeccable and the ambience is typically Puerto Rican. I recommend you try a truly local delicacy as a bakery item called I recommend you try a truly local delicacy as a bakery item called Quesito. The bread and all the pastries are typically Puerto Rican so you can feel comfortable ordering any one of them.

We walked into a clean and welcoming space with a wide display of pastries, buns, and savory options, making it feel like a place where you can stop for a quick snack, grab a drink, or sit down for a longer visit. The display cases are well organized, and the variety of items on offer immediately gives the sense that this is more than just a standard bakery. The biggest highlight is the variety of baked goods. Bakery 1908 offers a mix of sweet and savory pastries, including buns, rolls, egg tarts, and specialty creations that go beyond a typical bakery selection. The pastries we tried were fresh, and there was a good balance between traditional flavors and more modern options. Items like the taro bun, chicken curry bun, and other filled pastries stood out because they offered more flavor variety than standard bakery items. The taro bun had a smooth, lightly sweet filling that paired well with the soft bread, while the chicken curry bun offered a savory, aromatic contrast. The egg tarts were also worth ordering, with a flaky crust and a custard center that stayed smooth and well set. Beyond pastries, the menu also includes dim sum-style items, dumplings, steamed buns, and other small bites, which makes the bakery feel more like a café and casual restaurant. We ordered a few savory options and found they helped balance out the sweeter items, making it a better choice if you want something more filling. The dumplings came out hot and well made, and the steamed buns had a light, fluffy texture that held up well against the fillings. The drink menu is another strong point, with options like bubble tea, fruit teas, and coffee that pair well with the food. We tried a couple of drinks and found them well prepared, with the fruit teas offering a refreshing contrast to the richer pastries. The atmosphere is one of the reasons the bakery works well as a hangout spot. The space is clean, comfortable, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We noticed a mix of people working, meeting friends, and taking a break, and the energy of the room stayed relaxed throughout our visit. The seating is spread out enough that it does not feel crowded, and the natural light from the windows adds to the welcoming feel. Service is also a positive part of the experience, with staff being generally friendly and helpful. They were patient with questions about the menu and offered recommendations without being pushy. The main thing to consider is that the popularity can mean a steady flow of customers, especially during busy times. Some items may also sell out depending on the time of day, so visiting earlier can give you the best selection. We noticed that the display cases were fullest in the morning, and a few items were gone by the afternoon. Bakery 1908 is a great option for anyone looking for more than just a traditional bakery. The combination of fresh pastries, dim sum, drinks, and a comfortable café environment makes it a versatile spot for breakfast, a snack, or a casual meal. It stands out because it offers both familiar favorites and more unique Asian-inspired bakery items in one place, making it a destination that rewards exploration and repeat visits.

Bright, clean, and dialed in with pastries that actually look as good as they photograph. You walk in thinking you'll make a quick, responsible choice. Two minutes later you're staring at the case like you're drafting a fantasy team. We went with the cream puff and that was the right move. Light, airy, not overly sweet, and gone in about three bites flat. No notes. Tried the crème brûlée pastry too. Points for creativity all day. It's a cool concept and well executed, just didn't hit the same level as the cream puff. Still good, just not the headliner. And the iced tea deserves a mention. Strong. Like, actually strong. Not the watered-down afterthought you get at most spots. This one shows up with purpose. Overall, easy four stars. Fun stop, great vibe, and a menu that keeps things interesting without trying too hard. Just don't kid yourself into thinking you're only ordering one thing. That plan falls apart immediately.
