Came here on a Tuesday night when they were having $10 fajita and $3 beers night. The atmosphere was really upbeat and fun. The staff were nice and our waitress was quick with drinks and food orders. There was free chips and salsa at the table, there was a fajita and beer night on Tuesday going on, my friends got shrimp fajitas and I got the large chicken enchiladas for $17, there were two enchiladas that were pretty big and I was filled with one. My family and I had a great experience. We came on a Monday evening and sat outside. It was a great atmosphere. The waitress was really friendly and when I had trouble choosing a menu item she was quick to offer her guidance. The kids loved their food. My two toddlers devoured their chicken nuggets, quesadillas, and fruit- to the point where I wanted to go back the next night because they ate so well (this is not normal). The ambiance was great I'm not a loud space person this place was average noise level really nice. They had video screens to watch the game and they also had some that are just showing surfings scenes gave you something else to do besides stare out a window or stare at the table across from you. Chairs and tables bright and inviting. Jessica M. Was great always on our needs and wants. Checking in on us great with out being pushy or overbearing. Food was very good food came out very fast which I was very impressed with their salsa and chips. The salsa was very good. I'm very picky with my salsa and I was impressed with these guys. A nice modern take on Mexican food. This upscale restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. After being seated we were handed menus and our drink orders were taken by our server, Nick. He came back quickly with a basket of chips and a cup of salsa. The chips were okay, but the salsa was very good with just a little bite to it. I ordered the Fish Bowl, which had several pieces of fried cod on a bed of mixed greens, served in a hard taco bowl shell. Very tasty! My wife ordered the Cheesesteak Crisp, which she really enjoyed. The service was okay however the food is as not. It was just me and my boyfriend and our ticket was $60 which I wouldn't have minded paying if the food was good quality. I spent $60 and left hungry because the food was TERRIBLE! The food was cold and not seasoned AT ALL. I am of Hispanic culture and this just was not food with Mexican flavor. I also purchased an alcoholic beverage that I couldn't drink . I don't mind spice but this was unbearable, it's like they got the seasoning for the food mixed up with the drink. Giving it 3 stars cause the drinks are good but the food is so bland here compared to the other locations. I ordered chicken tinga tacos & there was barely any seasoning or sauce on them it was soooo bad & overpriced for bland food. On 5/5/25, we were really looking forward to dining at K-38 Baja Grill, but unfortunately our experience fell short. After arriving during what seemed like a somewhat, particularly very busy time and we weren't seated for well over 20 minutes despite a nearly empty dining area. Staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, and we were never given an update about how long the wait would be. Poor seating process made our visit frustrating. We had a fantastic experience dining at k38 on Sunday night with a big group, and it was all thanks to our awesome server Nicole! We were recommended to request her by a friend who had dined with her the night prior. She was friendly, attentive, had an amazing personality, and gave perfect recommendations--the verdes enchiladas were on point--everything was delicious, including the margaritas! Even with our large party, she made sure we felt right at home, checking in regularly and keeping everything running smoothly. We're already planning to go back and will be asking for her again! Super excited to have one of our favorite restaurants on the island, it is quickly becoming our new favorite spot, and with service like that, and such a chill environment we'll definitely be returning. Even though this place had 2.5 stars, decided to give K38 a try. It's a local spot, I thought. It will be good. NOPE! $12 for an ACP that had 1/3 cup of rice and about 4 ounces of chicken. The chicken fajitas, or sizzler as they call them, tasted like it had Chinese spices on it. No noticeable Mexican or Tex-Mex flavoring to it. You can get more food and better tasting food at a Burrito Shak or Flaming Amy's Burrito's for half the price. I do not recommend and will not be back. read more

I know the business is new but we've tried here 3 times and none of them have been good experiences. I'll rate this one but it will be the last one I rate...back to nollies. Bar, she needs an actual bar back. She is doing a great job but is making drinks for the whole restaurant and serving the bar. While there are multiple other people just walking around. Like have the hostess bring chips and water...instead we waited ten minutes to get chips and then another five to even get a drink order. This is not the bartenders fault, she was working hard the whole time. Fajitas, spilt with my husband. The flavor was way off like I was at a hibachi grill. I'm guessing they were marinated too long but all I could taste was Asian flavoring. It also wasn't as hot as you'd expect fajitas to be. In the plus side, queso is best if the island, margs are always spot on and corn tortillas are great. This place has great potential but needs to work on things. read more

Went with another couple for lunch. The place was busy however lots of room. I ordered a house margarita without salt. I got one with salt. Our waitress returned quickly and as I thought merely changed glass (lots of salt remaining). My friend ordered fajitas and got a fajita burrito. When he told the waitress, she said "you ordered it that way". All four of us agreed that the food was bland, very bland practically uneatable. My wife ordered a second margarita, I ordered nothing however we were brought two margaritas, and of course both with salt. I told her I did not order a drink and she seemed to cop an attitude. I was excited when I saw the new K38 open in Carolina Beach because I always go to the one on Oleander frequently and assumed this one would be as good. Though the server was pleasant enough he was too busy serving and bussing the other tables around us to refill drinks when needed and when we needed some items he was hard to get a hold of so we had to ask another server to help. I'd asked for more salsa for the chips which never showed up, the chips ran out as it was Saturday night and we had to wait a bit for our food order, one of our drinks ran out, I needed more napkins, and sour cream and had to wait until nearly finished to get these. So far as the food goes, the chicken chimichanga is what was missing the sour cream which it desparately needed. It was overfried and almost too dry to eat. The fajati showed up looking beautiful and sizzling, but lacked any flavor as if it hadn't been seasoned or marinated. I was so dissappointed because the K38 on Oleander is always so good and this location was a let down. The location itself is nice and the atmosphere is good just needs a better cook and perhaps a bus person to free up the server. I also hate that when you pay they have the hand held computer device in the hand of the server to pay with your card, as the server waits for you to pay and tip. I made him wait while I figured out the tip and checked what was on the receipt. I suppose this is quicker for them but I'm not going to be rushed as I decide what kind of tip I'm giving for the poor service. I'll probably give it one more try as the manager was kind enough to give a $10. coupon to do so, but otherwise it's off my list of go to K38 locations. read more

The space is spectacular - LA/Baja vibe. Cocktails are good (skinny margs are tart and fresh). Service is friendly and fun- servers keep an eye on your drink and make sure you have what you need. The food is not great, so disappointing. Definitely not Cali/Mexico, Mexican or Baja flavors which is what's advertised. Rice and beans had absolutely no seasoning. Hello cumin? Salt? Butter? My shrimp fajitas were burnt and the tortillas tasted like they came from Publix. Hubbies Birria tacos had some flavor- the dipping sauce was good. But tortillas were not fresh and were not the right texture for an authentic Cali/Mex Birria experience. The CB K38 has great indoor and outdoor space. Vibe is good- so we will be back for cocktails and maybe some chips- but not for the food. We had been fans of the k38 in Landfall- but the food in CB does not compare. Too bad. I hope the kitchen gets it together. Use spices! We'd love to meet our friends here but not when the food is just mediocre. There are too many other good food options on the island. read more

Beware-there is an employee who works at this restaurant who takes it upon themselves to add a $15 tip to your bill without your consent. We went on July 1st for lunch and we left our waitress a $20 bill on a $60 dollar tab. I wrote "cash" in the tip line as well. I checked my bank account and I was charged $77. Most people would not catch this if you don't pay attention to credit card transactions. There was no sense of urgency or concern when we called and spoke to the manager, Hannah. I think having an employee who steals from customers should be extremely concerning. My advice-be wary with who you give your business to. read more

Placed an online order (according to the email generated receipt) at 5:36PM with pickup at 5:51PM. I arrived at approximately 5:50PM. I informed the woman at the host desk that I had placed an online order . (I observed a handwritten sign behind the desk that said "online order pickup ".). There was not an order there and the woman asked my name- she then went to the kitchen. She came back and asked when I had placed the order (by this time another woman had joined her ) I showed her the receipt and the woman stated it was the right location. They then asked if it was on line or telephone (the receipt clearly states online order) at which time she went to the bar area and found the order. I guess online orders and phone orders are picked up in different locations. The reason I'm relating the above is because what occurred was probably less than 3 minutes. I live less than a mile from the location and traffic was very light and I did not encounter a red light at the one light I have to pass. When I got home and began to take the order out of the bag I noticed the aluminum foil containers were not even warm to the touch. When we began to eat the food was basically room temperature! We had also indicated in our order "no cilantro " which the food contained . The quality of the food was average at best and the price - for what we ordered-I consider far expensive.
