We just moved to the area, we had used bonds ranch in the past when we lived here 4 years ago and they referred us to this clinic. We used an animal hospital religiously in Parker county and I should've just gone back to them. Our cat ended up with a laceration and was treated by this clinic on Tuesday, upon taking the dressing off last night noted none of the sutures had held up. Upon taking our cat in today to be rechecked, the vetinarian was condescending and simply came up with excuses trying to put the blame on us. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

I will never understand how this establishment has 5 stars on Google. I originally found Avondale Animal Clinic through a search, and given the great reviews and proximity to my home, I was genuinely hoping this would be our new primary vet. Unfortunately, my experience didn't reflect those positive reviews. First, while I completely understand that veterinary clinics can sometimes be short-staffed or encounter unexpected emergencies, there seems to be a significant issue with their scheduling. Appointment times were simply not respected, resulting in excessive wait times that felt more like intentional overbooking rather than unavoidable delays. Secondly, my very first visit raised immediate concerns about the clinic's cleanliness. While sitting in the exam room, I noticed the ceiling vents had a thick layer of dust, almost an inch thick, resembling a clogged dryer vent. For a medical facility where my pet is being examined and treated, maintaining a highly sanitary environment is incredibly important to me. The deciding factor happened during our second visit on June 9th at 3:00 PM. We were scheduled for a urine sample via cystocentesis for my dog, (a procedure she's successfully had done twice before at an ER without issue). We arrived early at 2:50 PM to be considerate, but we weren't seen until 3:30 PM. They took my dog to the back, and we ultimately didn't leave the facility until 4:40 PM. The most frustrating part was that after all that waiting, they claimed my dog didn't have enough urine in her bladder to perform the test and that she did not even pee as they tried taking her **OUTSIDE** without even informing me that the cysto was not successful (RED FLAG) I found this incredibly hard to understand, as I meticulously followed the doctor's strict instructions from our first visit: I ensured she drank plenty of water and absolutely did not let her urinate for at least 3 hours prior to the appointment. While I initially agreed with the tech to reschedule for the first slot of the day on Friday, June 12th at 9:00 AM to avoid another long wait, I realized later that evening that I simply don't have confidence in this clinic moving forward. With all that being said, I will be taking my business elsewhere to find a vet who respects appointment times, maintains a much cleaner facility, and can provide the efficient, genuine care my dog deserves without leaving us waiting for nearly two hours to not even complete a scheduled test. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would -- unfortunately, one is the lowest allowed. It's incredibly disappointing to write this review after three years of loyal visits to this vet office, but after one bad experience after another -- and the final straw on Wednesday, June 18th -- I've come to the conclusion that this place is no longer a good fit for us. We have two girls: one is a 15-year-old senior, and the other is dog-reactive. You'd think a veterinary office and staff would have the knowledge and experience to accommodate dogs with specific behavioral and medical needs, but time and again, this place has proven otherwise. We've been going monthly for baths and checkups, and over time, several unacceptable incidents have occurred: One visit, I picked up my girls after their baths and found them without their collars--ropes had been put around their necks, and they were choking and visibly distressed. We also purchased an expensive specialty shampoo recommended by the vet. When returned to us, the cap wasn't secured, and the bottle leaked. I wrote a review at that time, and someone from the office did call and apologize, replacing the bottle. I appreciated that gesture and decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, the second strike came when we scheduled another routine bath and were blindsided with a nearly $900 bill upon pick-up. Without asking for permission or notifying us in advance, they had done annual checkups and additional procedures on both dogs. I was completely unaware until checkout. This unexpected bill caused financial strain and made it difficult to cover our regular expenses -- and I left feeling like the clinic cared more about profit than our pets. The final straw happened on Wednesday, June 18th. I had called the day before to book a vet tech bath appointment. I specifically requested an early morning slot because of my dog's reactivity and was told the earliest appointment was 9:20 AM. I asked if there was an earlier day/time, and the receptionist said no -- but I could call upon arrival to be let in the side door to avoid the lobby. So I did exactly that. I called when I arrived and was put on hold for over five minutes. Eventually, someone came out the side door, asked what I was doing, and said they'd check us in. Then we waited over 15 minutes outside in the direct sun, both dogs panting heavily and me sweating. I called again to follow up, and finally, a vet tech brought us into a room -- only to come back a few minutes later and tell me there had been a mistake and they couldn't bathe my dogs. So I wasted my entire morning loading up my dogs, driving over, waiting in the heat, and then had to load them back up and leave -- with nothing accomplished. I asked to have a manager or the owner call me -- and surprise, still waiting on that call. It's incredibly disheartening after all the time, money, and effort we've invested over the years. It now feels like we're just seen as dollar signs, not pet parents with real needs. There are even more frustrating stories I could add, but this review is long enough. We will be finding a new vet -- one that actually cares about the well-being of our animals and respects their clients. read more

Had some family pets that need proper attention/treatment; both Dr. Jones & her partner Alexis were so very attentive, caring, comforting, patient, informative and overall gave a superb experience for our pets. It took about 10 minutes for somebody from the front desk to acknowledge or check us in. Then after we got checked in, we were putting in a room and left there for about an hour before anybody came in to let us know that there had been an emergency and it was going to take even longer to be seen. Nobody came in to check on the dog. Nobody came in to let us know what was going on. My dog sat there, and was anxious the entire time, we are a new patient and, we will not be back. read more

Came here as a new customer with my 3 cats by myself (which at my old vet was never a problem). I called ahead to tell them I was a few minutes out and was shocked when no one offered to help me get in the building or even told me to wait in the car, especially considering the waiting room was filled with dogs. They had me sit in the waiting room for quite a while which absolutely stressed my cats out way more than the car ride considering the dogs and the man arguing with the front desk about a boarding situation they had messed up. When we actually got to see the vet he absolutely man handled them tossing them back and forth unnecessarily (like would change their position instead of his own to look at different parts of them) which again stressed them out. Made rude comments about my cat peeing in his carrier (because a dog barked in his face). My cats have NEVER been violent towards anyone but because of the way he was handling them my sweetest baby (who would cuddle a robber he's so social) bit him. Again never happened before - my old vets office (who is now over an hour away) would all come see him and say hi to him because he was their favorite. He refused to pause the exam and made a comment about how he was a bad cat, even suggesting they take him to the back for the rest of the exam which I adamantly refused. There was no world I would've trusted him with them without my eyes on the situation. Maybe taking a beat to establish rapport with a new client would be beneficial. I will be finding a vet who knows how to treat and handle cats. If you have cats I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

We drop our dog off hours before our flight out of town to find out they needed 3 additional shots plus a $53 exam fee. These items added almost another $150 to our total. read more

We to the vet early today and thought Harley was having breathing problems. Rush him over . They checked him out not a breathing problem , but maybe he bang his tooth hard while eating. They gave him a shot and pills. We get home and he hides for 4 hours. So 7:45 he is gagging pawing at his mouth so i drag him down off his cat tree look in his mouth and see blood and have my kid hold him down so I can check better. I see he has a busted tooth so I had my kid run down stairs and get rubber gloves and I held him down and she shined a flashlight in a I flicked out the rotten tooth. We picked up a new puppy and he was having tons of diarrhea and wouldn't put on weight. We are from Virginia (very far from home!), and were desperate to get Cujo seen by a vet. Avondale Haslet Animal Clinic got us an appointment within just a few hours of calling, and were so incredibly kind and professional. They made sure to test him for Parvo before allowing us into the clinic. Luckily that was negative. The vet (Dr. Jones) gave him a thorough exam and listened to all our observations and concerns. She ordered outside lab fecal testing for parasites and bacterial infections and gave us probiotics and anti-diarrheal medication to start him on while we waited on the lab results. She also noticed a potential ringworm spot on his backside and gave us medicated wipes for it. Lab results came back within 2 days and he tested positive for coccidia (intestinal parasite). She immediately prescribed him medication to get him well again. He is already looking and feeling so much better! All the staff that we intereacted with were helpful, kind, and caring. And the cherry on top was how reasonable the cost was!! In total, everything came out to around $200. So much less than we were expecting!! I can't recommend this clinic enough! read more

We tried this vet because they are closer to our new home and we hoped to save some money on annual exams and shots. We called and asked for pricing for the same services our animals had last year with last years invoice in hand and the person on the phone went over each item and gave us a cheaper price. When we got there, the staff was rushing me to do the paperwork and move on through. We left in a flurry with our 3 animals but when we got home and reviewed the invoice, all items were more money than discussed! Furthermore, my dogs only got 6 month vaccinations for one particular vaccination. What? We called for an explanation and they said they only administer a 6 month dose because it is too risky to give them a years worth. They've been getting the yearly dose for years! Now I have to pay another fee to have them boostered in 6 months, for even more money of course. As for the explanatitoted th the high charges they simply said "sorry for the misunderstanding" and were unwilling to budge or acknowledge they were misleading us just to get us in the door. Nice, thanks guys. We figured we'd done our homework and checked ahead but we still got burned. We will not be back. We moved to Haslet in July 2013. Our family member has always received the best care available that we could find. Our dog began showing signs of illness so we took him in for an exam. Of course he is 14 so we know about some of the expected bone related item. This time we learned of an ear disorder. Was provided medication and a treatment plan. That was cleared up fine. A few weeks later he stop eating. OH NO!! So back we go for more tests. Tests indicated a Pancreas disorder so we started treatment on that. Not getting better! Back for more tests. This time we were told Liver problems. More meds more treatment. Still not eating much so back we go. This time more tests and sent home. Next morning called to speak to Doctor. Told he needs to be hospitalized. Off we go. We called to have records faxed and myself and the techs were actually hung up on 5 times by a very rude receptionist. 5 times. I'm not kidding. With all of the delay just upsetting me terribly, tests indicated he had Pneumonia and 75% kidney failure. I had told the Doctor he had been coughing but was told to give him Robitussin DM. WHAT?? He was so far gone we had to let him go the next morning. We have NEVER had an experience like this before. I spoke with the Doctor about the rudeness of the receptionist. Reports to me that he spoke to her but did not replace her. The family next door told me their daughter had mentioned she and some of her friends experienced the same thing from the reception counter regularly. I would use caution if I were you. read more

Had to take our 13 year old cat in for a UTI because she gets extremely stressed out when she's around young kids and things have changed, of course. My husband called and they squeezed her in based on her symptoms. They saw Dr. B and my husband was really impressed with entire staff and experience. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. My dog was very hurt and needed vet care, since it was Sunday I could not take her here. Instead, I took her to a vet hospital in Watauga. They did not offer to do an Xray, only looked at her wound, charged me for services, and sent me home with medication and a hurting dog. In order to give my dog the meds she had to have food in her stomach, but she would not eat. There were issues all night long, so the first thing monday morning I made an appointment with Avondale Haslet Animal Clnic. This is actually the second time my family has taken a dog to this vet. The first time was a few years ago when another dog of ours was hit by a car. Although that was such a sad occasion, the quality of service and compassion shown was enough for me to feel like it was the only place I wanted to go. After the doctor saw my dog, he strongly urged an X-ray and other treatment. Sure enough, through the X-ray we were able to see very clearly that there was a bullet inside of her. We were all surprised by the finding, and the doctor acted immediately. My dog is still there actually, all of these activities happened just recently. We still have a long road ahead of us for surgery, healing, etc. The quality of care and service shown to us by the doctor and staff was phenomenal. Especially compared to the experience I had with the vet on Sunday. There aren't enough stars available for me to award them. All around phenomenal care for me, but more importantly my dog. read more

Doctor Jim Jordan treated my Goldendoodle, Sam, when she stopped eating with vomiting and was becoming dehydrated. He was very compassionate and thorough with her. The next day my other dog, Maggie, a Shih Tzu started having the same symptoms and Doctor Speed treated her. They both ended up with pancreatitis that we believe was caused by dog treats that were manufactured in China that had been recalled. I felt both doctors were great taking care of my dogs and the vet techs also took really good care of them. I feel like the prices are the same I have paid at previous vets. I would take both of my dogs back to Dr Speed and Dr Jim. read more

Disappointed with the service here. The vet rushed in the exam room, didn't say two words to my boyfriend. I informed them that my dog had had a previous traumatic experience with another vet and needs a minute to warm up to people especially in small spaces, did the vet do that, NOPE. Went straight for his infected ear without letting my dog sniff him or adjust or anything. So naturally my dog nipped the vet. My boyfriend asked the vet if he was okay and the vet didn't even respond, very rude and just walked out and never returned to the room. You would think people who work with different animals on a daily basis would know to listen to the OWNERS and not just walk in acting like they know everything on how to treat dogs/animals. I work in healthcare so I get they have a schedule to stick to but LEARN TO LISTEN TO THE OWNERS and I don't know maybe be more personable. read more

Like a previous reviewer, we recently moved to Haslet. We had to bring our terrier in after she got into some food not appropriate for dogs. She was very sick and developed pancreatitis. My dealings with the receptionist were minimal, but the doctor and vet techs were phenomenal in caring for her. I did not find that the prices were any different than I would have paid at our former vet in Austin. Since the first visit, I have taken two of our other dogs in for treatment of various minor ailments and also received excellent service from the vet and vet techs. It is very unfortunate and unprofessional that the receptionist mistreated the earlier reviewer. I would hope that appropriate changes have been made to prevent that poor service in the future. Finally, we do not get our annual shots at the vets office. Instead, we take our pets to the veterinarian services set up each month by the feed store in Haslet. We have been very happy with their prices and treatment of our precious pets each time we have been there. read more
