Mellany learned to cook when she was young while participating in 4H. I had her vegan chill and house salad. She offers an option where you can add beef. The chili is loaded with a variety of beans. Adding to the presentation and taste, cheese, jalapeños, sour cream and cilantro are added. There's a small kick. Amazing chili! My friend had a burger and French onion soup. Absolutely LOVE these small little hidden jems...I almost hate to review it in fear of it being...not too small. When you first step in you are a little surprised how cozy the seating area is in comparison to how large the building looks from the outside. Once seated you get that cozy right-at-home feeling surrounded by eclectic country decor and locally made handicrafts and art for purchase. We arrived just about 15 minutes before they shut down for an hour and a half for changeover between 1:30 to 3pm and they didn't bat an eye or seemed put out over it. We were pretty hungry and decided to try a couple of things. We both ordered sandwiches. I had the sausage lasagna soup and macaroni salad. My partner got chili with all the fixings and a taco. The portions were very generous and we definitely did not leave hungry! Her soups are to die for and you can actually differentiate the taste of the sandwhich fixings! We also left with a pan of cinnamon rolls with oh so creamy icing on the side (no pic because she kept it in the fridge for me until we were ready to leave) and some day olds. Let me tell you, they didn't make it to day 2. There's a fun assortment of different bottled/canned refreshments in the cooler to choose from sure to satisfy any flavor craving. It's warming up now, she also boasts a huge covered deck with comfortable outdoor seating! Wifi is available as well although I didn't have time to test it because we ended up in delightful conversation with Mellany and her husband the whole time! Super awesome souls y'all! I love when you meet kindred spirits! I wish I could grant more stars because I love this place! It's adorable - very cosy - I love small town restaurants with mixed furniture, mismatched beautiful plates, cups and bowls and local arts. We got there a few minutes before their re-opening at 3:00, and because it wasn't busy, we really got to start up a fabulous conversation with Mellany and the entire team. What kind people. Mellany shares a passion for fresh, good food and she will work hard to get your order just right! Our burgers were fabulous! Hubbs had a plain patty with a grilled bun. And I had Eli's Luau burger - everything I ever wanted in a great Hawaiian style burger. The soup was fabulous. They make their own salad dressing, so the side salad was lovely! And the desserts. I like finding unique food opportunities with Yelp. I don't alway take the reviews at face value since everyone has different tastes. When I found this little gem all the wonderful reviews I read were 100% true. We decided to stop for lunch on our way up to our season spot on the river. The moment I walked into the building my normal way of eating (low carb) went right out the window. The delicious scents just hit me in the face and I wanted EVERYTHING in their bakery case. We were met by a wonderful gentleman who explained to us that Mellany was not feeling well today so the specials were not available (hope you are feeling better soon). It didn't matter, their extensive menu had plenty to offer. I decided on the Philly Burger which he responded with "Great choice". The burger came out pipping hot with a steak knife stuck in the middle. I should have taken a picture showing how it was served, but I was too excited to try it. The burger was perfectly cooked, the onions and peppers were caramelized and the cheese was melty. From the first bite it was dripping down my arm, in my opinion a good Philly requires you to lick the juice dripping down your arm. I know I could have eaten the burger without the bun, but those baked smells got to me. The buns was perfectly toasted and soft, worth the carbs. I ended up walking away with a full happy tummy and a strawberry cake to savor the later. I saw on their menu that they have take and bake pizza's. I will be making a trip soon to get a pizza once their hours get later this summer. I am looking forward to cooking one my smoker...and maybe a dessert or two of later. read more

We had the pleasure of having a catered meal from Mellany's Bakery yesterday compliments of the Kalispel Tribe's Tundra Swan Saturday event. What a treat! She fixed Salisbury steak with a bone broth...whiskey reduced mushroom onion gravy that we wanted to drink with a spoon. She paired with sweet potato mash and sautéed fresh green beans with shaved almonds. There were lots of fresh rolls with sweet cream butter. The desserts were amazing oatmeal cranberry, chocolate chip, and amazing Snickerdoodles cookies with several fresh muffins that were a culinary treat...lemon filled with strawberry poppyseed, cheesecake apt Carmel muffins, and a chocolate chip-chocolate filled delight. She brought donuts of every type and what a fancy display for breakfast. She topped all this with great coffee and plenty of water to keep us hydrated and attentive for our afternoon sessions. read more

I can't say enough about Mellany's food! We found this place by accident awhile back. It's a small hole in the wall if you will. We look forward to stopping here whenever we are up north. We are from the Tri-Cities. We've learned not to drive all the way without calling first though as we've been disappointed on several occasions because she closes for catering. We get it though, everybody's got to make a decent living! There are always wonderful pastries and desserts to choose from in the case and always some kind of delicious soup. Always order the soup! I mean this, it never disappoints! The burgers we ordered last time were so incredibly flavorful! I had the Morel Monster and my fiancé had one called the Sweet Heat. (I'm ordering that one next time. It was to die for!) We usually take our desserts to go and head over to the reservation to eat them by the river and look at the buffalo!
