Seriously great pizza! The staff is very accommodating and prompt, solid wine list and we really like their starters too. The atmosphere inside is cool and clean, their deck in the the summer is very pleasant. Reasonable prices for how special all the ingredients are - the literally import their flour from Italy! The pizza oven is the cherry on top. I'd take this over Powder Hound Pizza around the corner, similar prices but a much more refined environment and I feel you get way more value. read more

We just found one of our newest favorite restaurants in Sandpoint. The pizza is delicious and I like that they have vegan options. We have been in several times and the staff is always so welcoming and friendly. It is very busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait should you choose to dine in, or order to go. first time to this new restaurant. great menu of starters, burrata, meatballs, roasted cauliflower and several salads. their pizzas and breads are all naturally leavened "sourdough". they use organic flour from a small, family-run mill just outside of rome, italy for our wood-fired pizza. their breads & detroit-style pizzas are made with local, organic whole wheat and an amazing non-gmo flour grown by a local, regenerative farm. the pizza oven is from italy. i came for lunch and had a salad and roasted cauliflower. it was excellent! i am bringing my husband to try the pizza and bread on saturday. the service was wonderful and i met the owner who was very nice and helpful. read more

Most excellent 10" Margherita Pizza with an Arugula Pear salad on the side. Yes, we paid a bit more, but in today's world, you get what you pay for. Our Pizza was the "Traditional" which had Mozz fresca instead of shredded Mozz, with carefully placed Basil leaves. I peeked at the Italian Forno wood oven and noticed that they have bags of Italian flour stacked underneath. The crust was nicely toasted underneath, not unlike a good burnt flour tortilla. We paired it with a shot sized container of garlic olive oil which we drizzled on the pizza. Overall, I'd give it a 10, including the service. My compliments, and well done my friend. It's a bit pricey when you add beer, but we'll go back, just not every month.. read more

We tried the new Forge Pizza - first of all great space - inside and out - great front patio - Horrible service sat on the patio for 20 min after being seated no water no drink order - had to go and ask for water and then bus boy put his hands all over the top of the glasses - yuck Then waited another 10 min still no server had to again and ask for someone to take our order Finally ordered drinks and 3 pizzas Food came out pretty quick - pizza was under cooked and crust was not cooked very spongy Server never came back and we had to ask for our check - other places in town gave much better server - train your staff read more

I really want to love this place and sincerely hope it succeeds. Sandpoint is a tough place for restaurants to thrive. They have done a great job getting it open and are near completion of the final touches. The deck is looking great. We have had the Margherita, Meatball and Large Marge in the past, as well as the Roman Wedge. The Margherita is pretty simple and standard flair. The meatball and Large Marge were nothing to brag about. The Roman Wedge salad was excellent, but they have no pepper. I asked and the waitress looked surprised and brought me back a metal cup with finely ground pepper. It was tough to gauge the pepper when you're trying to pinch it and sprinkle on the salad. A pepper grinder would have been great. Not sure why they have spent so much money on their Parmesan/red pepper divided wooden canister and not pepper. Key for a great salad. We were there on Saturday for our 3rd time. We chose the Parma pizza and the kale salad special. The kale salad was absolutely awful! I don't think they understand the process required to make a kale salad. They left the stems attached to the leaves and didn't massage the leaves. Typically, the stems are removed, the leaves are chopped into smaller pieces, massaged for 2-3 minutes, then rinsed to remove the bitter compounds. Lastly, it had a light olive oil and I believe lemon dressing and covered it in some sort of cheese. The salad had no taste except for the bitter, tough kale. The mound of cheese was flavorless and added nothing. The Parma pizza looked great, but was flavorless. Pizza was soggy in the middle. The rest of our table didn't like their meal and some friends went later that night and had a bad meal. They vowed not to go again since this was their 3rd bad experience. I will try it one more time and build my own. It doesn't show that as an option, but I will ask. If after four less than stellar meals, I will have to move on. read more

I'm not joking when I say this is one of the best pizza spots in the country. I travel for work and have been to many of the great spots. The Detroit style Hot Rod Pizza is absolutely incredible. The dough is everything. You can taste the difference in the quality of flour they use. Beautiful pies here. If you can conjure up an excuse to go to Sandpoint then get there and go to The Forge. Well worth the drive coming off Schweitzer. If you're visiting Lake Ponderay then this is a must stop. read more

Been here twice, about a month apart. Got the same pizza both times (The Spilinga). I love that they get their flour from Italy; being gluten sensitive, it means I can eat their pizza. As for my pizza, first time, it was the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Second time, it was over loaded with oil/grease and overly spicy. I had to soak up the oil grease with a paper napkin (had to ask for paper napkins). Service was great both times. Ambiance - first time, we sat inside. Second time, outside. Both areas are great with an airy feel. I'll definitely go back...I'm just hoping for a more consistent pizza experience. read more
