I've always seen Elk Grove Donuts' pretty Asian inspired donuts, but never had the opportunity to try. My friend saw that Elk Grove Donuts released their new young coconut series and wanted us to try it. We came around 11 am on a Saturday and it was pretty busy! We ordered two young coconut sticky rice pandan donuts, one young coconut pandan donut, young coconut matcha, and matcha latte. Everything together cost over $41, which we thought was a little ridiculous for donuts and matcha drinks. We were also shocked how small the young coconut matcha was when it came out. Kinda disappointed on the taste too as it was pretty telling when it wasn't a vibrant green. The matcha latte was just okay. The donuts of course were really pretty, but in reality it wasn't with the price over a normal donut. I think it would have been better if the flavors were incorporated into the donut itself versus it just having the frosting and toppings. Both are very heavy, so be prepared for a nap! Finally made it in to try this donut shop after seeing it all over social media, and it definitely lived up to the hype in some ways. We picked up two Dubai Chew Cookies, which I really enjoyed. The mochi exterior gave them a fun texture and they were surprisingly good. We also tried their Mango Sago donuts, and while they were definitely different from your typical donut, they were unique and delicious. To round things out, we got a classic sprinkle donut, a chocolate glazed donut, and they even threw in three donut holes, which was a nice surprise. For drinks, we ordered the Dot Cake Coffee Latte ($9) and the Dot Cake Matcha Latte ($8). The drinks were decent, but both had way too much ice. The matcha latte tasted more like milk than matcha, which was a little disappointing. Altogether, our order came out to around $54, which feels pretty pricey for donuts and drinks. They don't label the price or name directly in front of the donuts. EGD makes some really good and creative donuts. The donuts taste fresh and are very airy, not cake like. They don't usually sell out early unless it's an initial release of a new donut. Service is good, the line goes pretty quick and there's usually two people helping if it gets busy. They don't have labels on the donuts so you'll need to ask them how much. The prices are shown on top by the ceiling but you won't know which donut correlates to which price. Trendy donut shop with unique flavors! Elk Grove Donuts was all over my TikTok fyp so decided to check it out on a Friday around 9am. Lots of interesting donuts and had a tough time deciding! The current limited edition flavor is matcha (Strawberry Matcha and Matcha Tiramisu donuts). Asked an employee the difference between the Strawberry Dubai Chocolate and the regular Dubai Chocolate donut and they said the Strawberry Dubai Chocolate has slightly more filling inside compared to the regular one. I ended up ordering the Strawberry Dubai Chocolate donut and the Cinnamon Biscoff donut. The Cinnamon Biscoff donut is essentially a cinnamon roll with a Biscoff on top and the Strawberry Dubai Chocolate donut is filled with the pistachio kadayif mixture with a chocolate coating and strawberry on the outside. My personal favorite was the Cinnamon Biscoff but both were delicious! The donuts were soft and fluffy, also more than satisfied my sweet craving for the day.
