As someone who doesn't live in Chattanooga, but spends a fair amount of time in the area and has tried a lot of the restaurants, this beats them all out, for me. This location is my favorite restaurant, period. I know it sounds kinda silly - it's just a pizza bar - but the food is always delicious and fresh, the staff is nice and fun to chat with, and the atmosphere is great. I live two hours away, but make a trip up every couple of months just to have dinner here and walk around town. Oh, and if you go, and haven't had the calzones, try them - they're incredible. read more

The pizza was good, except for the fact we waited for forty five minutes to get our pizza. The pizza was given to the table next to us, so we waited even longer for another one. Let me say they I am a huge Mellow Mushroom fan. I love the one where I live. It's way good. I ordered takeout since I could walk from the hotel and it was close. I have to say the soup was very good and tasty and a meal in itself but my pizza was way overcooked and had very little taste. It was filling as I expected it to be after a 5 mile walk but I was not satisfied. Next time I will try a more local establishment. read more

We visited this place for dinner on 18th December. Around 8pm, it was busy 1) Host guys ( feathered hair ) very welcoming wonderful attitude and he was working hard, seating people, clearing table, running around 2) Waitress, Ms. Cannon was great! she let us know our food was taking a little longer and brought us some crackers and sauce for the kids. We knew it was busy so we didn't mind but she came by let us know what's going. 3) Food was great, too. we had Thai pizza and some other pizza. They were both good. Thank you guys! read more

Service and food was nice UNTIL I was charged $1.50 for my childs cup of water. I asked for two waters, server lady brought me large and my child a kids cup. Did not ask for it. I questioned the bill and she said I have to charge you for the cup. I said I didn't ask for it, and it's a cup of water!? She said well she can't change it and she'll have to get her manager. There was an uncomfortable moment like she thought when she said that I would say "no don't worry about it", I said okay! They took the charge off. So strange. Oh, y'all. Can we all please not get high BEFORE work? I was just looking forward to grabbing some pizzas for the family and running home with hot food on a Friday night. I parked in the Easy valet, and the parking attendant was nice enough to let me park there while I picked up food. When I got inside, I was greeted immediately. I was impressed! But then my hopes were dashed because they forgot to make one of my pizzas. Dude. Y'all forgot the first item on the ticket. So I waited. Then when I left the building with two pizzas and a bag of wings, there were four employees at the host station and none of them helped me with the door. I mean, I can get it. Fairly empty tonight. Few gripes with this place: 1. Upon entry, people at the front did not greet us or acknowledge us. 2. Wait for food was long, ~40min for soup and pretzels. 3. After 30 minutes, we commented that we were getting hungry. Instead of updating or empathizing with us, our server said, "hmm, I'm hungry too" 4. Soup was pretty terrible, DON'T order the mushroom soup. Texture of mud and barely a mushroom taste. 5. Garlic parmesan pretzels had NO garlic flavor. 6. High table was very wobbly. I would advise management to get rid of the table or fix it asap. TL;DR - Terrible wait, terrible soup, terrible flavors, terrible table. I would rename this place to Miserable Mushroom. read more

My fraternity brothers and I dined at this location just yesterday, and I have to say, the service and food was absolutely phenomenal. Our waitress, Tori, left us all with a sense of enchantment that will bring us back for years to come. She was kind, and patient, and was a listening ear as one of our brothers, Ted, confided in her about his recent divorce. Her comforting words of encouragement brought a smile to his face that I had not seen in ages. The food was also so delicious that I didn't even mind cheating on my diet, unlike how Ted's wife cheated on him. Lol!!! read more

I do not have bad experiences here with food, service, or speed. The pizza is made to order and always tasty, the staff friendly, the ambience great. The men's room is a pit, though, so take care of business beforehand. Enjoy the beer, too, with a wide and varied draught selection. read more

Called in three times to reserve a table, only to be hung up three times consecutively by the staff. On the fourth try, I finally asked for a manager who told me they don't take reservations. Was it really that hard to say? Customer service is the worst I've ever had in Chattanooga. The place is huge...like seriously huge, it doesn't seem necessary. It's also kinda loud so it's hard to hear. Tge service is very good, servers and staff are really friendly and like to chat. Mellow Mushroom is quintessentially Chattanoogan in its laid-back, unique vibe. It is definitely a must-eat if you are in town for a weekend trip or are spending the day downtown. The pizzas are very good (though not comparable to New York style pizza) and unique in flavor and ingredients. Perfectly paired with a beer from draft. This is a fun place to take the kids, as the atmosphere is creative and exciting. It is also great for a date night. The service is always great, with laid-back but attentive waiters always willing to offer their opinion on whatever food you are looking to order. Highly recommended! read more

Sat down this evening with my son and parents in a room that was 80% empty yet fully staffed with servers, cooks, hosts, etc. watched 3 servers ignore us completely for 8 minutes - performing very important tasks like refilling the ice machine on the soda fountain, cleaning tables, standing behind the bar laughing and talking - basically everything but taking care of guests and stopping by to serve water. Their refusal to even acknowledge us finally got to be such a complete joke that we walked out and went to another pizza place across the street. As we walked out they didn't even care. This is the absolute weirdest experience I have had at a restaurant. My husband, daughter and I ordered some pizza to go. While we were waiting we sat at an empty table. A woman immediately approached me and said we could not sit there, since it was for people that were eating there. I told her we would move once a customer showed up and needed the table. She returned and repeated the same thing to my husband. He said that we would like to change our order to dine-in, and she told him we were not allowed to. We asked to speak to the manager and he actually told us we were not allowed to sit in their restaurant and eat, since we had said we were taking our pizza to go. We were NOT cutting infront of anyone, there were a number of empty tables. I told him that it was ridiculous that we were not allowed to eat the pizza we purchased from them in their restaurant. He said it was a "rule" that once you order your pizza to go, you have to leave. ??????? Of course I told him to go to he'll and we left without any pizza. I have never experienced such an odd, elitist, nonsensical, interaction in my life, and I'm from stuck-up, liberal Seattle! Seriously in need of some customer service training. Boo. read more

First time visiting Chattanooga and came across The Mellow Mushroom Restaurant. We ordered a tasty pizza and 3 different type of Calzones. My son was disappointed with his Sausage Calzone, which appeared to be flat as an iron . My son express his concern to Jesse our waiter and he immediately corrected the situation by replacing it with an additional Sausage Calzones. My son shouts with joy " look at all this Sausage ". Looking at my 17 year old son smile with happiness while eating the Calzone reminded me when he first rode his bike without training wheels as a child.
