Took the wife and mother in law out for a change of scenery to the wonderful place called Chattanooga. Wound up at the aquarium for a couple hours and ended up hungry at the very end of it. Not far from where we were parked we found the Wooden City conveniently across from it all (dare I say a brisk walk's worth) with Mellow Mushroom and Ben & Jerry's establishments at both corners. We were given the options of staying inside or being placed outside and we chose (biased a lil) the opportunity of eating outside. We were taken care of accordingly by Jonathan, who is a perfect example of someone that makes tourism worth it, we chitchatted back-and-forth and came across some great options on our appetizers and drinks. While we waited for drinks, we were served water with ice as the weather outside was pleasant but a little too hot for the afternoon... When the appetizers arrived, we were greeted by not only demonstration, but taste above what I've had as of recent. Wife enjoyed the freshness of the tomatoes and cheese whilst I was mesmerized by how subtle and uber smooth my Old Fashioned was. We unwinded and talked about our day here in this city and then our next meal plates arrived. I had the very unique and well presented Beet Ravioli and the wife had the exquisite Spicy Lamb Rigatoni. Immediate upon arrival to our table my wife and I exchanged a bite of each other's plates to give a chance for our taste pallets to experience one another. The Beet Ravioli took back my wife to a time where she made something of similar taste and the Rigatoni took me back to California when I tasted something familiar then. Towards the end, I saved the location at the name of the restaurant, as I would like a near future to come back and visit with more time. The whole vibe here is awesome: I walked in, and just felt comfortable and welcomed. Menu is very succinct, but has great selections for everyone, from Tapas, to salads, to full surf and turf meals. The wine selection is awesome as well. I had the steak tartar, the heirloom tomatoes with jerk cauliflower side. Everything was outstanding. My husband and I stopped by this chic restaurant for a date night while visiting Chattanooga. It was walking distance from our hotel and the menu looked delicious so we decided to come here. They had an excellent red wine selection and the waiter was extremely nice! We decided to start with the jerk cauliflower and it honestly was my favorite thing on the menu! We had an excellent experience at Wooden City and would happily return. We ordered the Hungarian peppers, pepperoni pizza, and chicken schnitzel, and everything was outstanding. The flavors were sublime, the food was well-prepared, and the ambiance was upbeat and energetic. The only minor drawback was that our waitress forgot to put in the jerk cauliflower we ordered, but it was a small issue and didn't take away from the overall experience, which was excellent. Wazzam yall! I tried wooden city on a week long work trip to Chattanooga. I was staying at one of the nearby hotels so it was less than a 5 minute walk to Wooden city. The reviews looked well, so we went hungry and excited. The restaurant is gorgeous, loved the view of the restaurant as I ate on the wall of booths. We had a reservation that was taken promptly, our service was convenient but I wouldn't say pleasant. We ordered the veggie pizza (great flavor, slimy texture from too many mushrooms etc 4/5) the ceasar salad (started with some finesse 4/5) and the jerk cauliflower(5/5). The only item we were disappointed in was the wings (1/5). Now let me explain. Wooden city reads as a smart modern, quality of food type of location. To start off Carolyn was a fantastic funny waitress. My wife and I popped in on a Wed at around 6 pm and we were promptly seated and waited on. We ordered the shrimp, bread and butter and buffalo chicken wings along with a couple cocktails. Everything was delish especially the wings my wife and I did rock paper scissors for who would get 4 wings as there was 7 served. We made dinner reservations for a relatively early NYE meal before plans for later that evening. Uber dropped us off, and I'm glad it did as parking didn't seem to be available on a busy night. The interior is very nice, from main room to even the restrooms being clean and upscale. Our server was fantastic, very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful with suggestions even convincing us to switch an order for something she felt we might like better. We started with wings, a dry rub (crispy as well) with the buffalo and a sort of jerk/jamaican sauce as well as ranch. Very good wings--though perhaps not $17 for 7 good (though it was Dec 2025 inflation). I had the burger, added bacon, and swapped fries for the potato fingerlings. My wife had the spicy lamb rigatoni. Her pasta was phenomenal, perfect sauce and meat (thankfully she let me have a couple of bites). The potato fingerlings were amazing--so crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. My burger was on point as well--massive, double patty cooked to perfection. Honestly, if I were to order it again I would have asked to hold the slaw which just seemed to distract from the texture and quality of the meat, and I'd leave the bacon off as it was closer to prosciutto than bacon--limp, chewy. Drinks were good, I had a couple of the draft beers my wife ordered a lemon drop which she said they made strong and potent. All in all--great service, classy but casual, food very good to great with some real standouts on a simple, but varied menu. Prices a touch higher than maybe they should be though I understand pricing in general at the time of our visit was impacted by inflation. read more

Stopped in after placing a to-go order for wings and their fingerlings potatoes. Deliciousness. Honestly I grab wings here whenever I'm in the mood but have never eaten in. I'm not sure the menu items are my taste BUT their wings are THE BEST in town. I didn't have it tonight but my sister would even say their cesar salad is the best she's ever had!! The ranch,blue cheese and cesar dressing are all home made and that makes the difference. Tonight I added the fingerling potatoes on suggestion from my mom and my lanta! Deliciousness. All of the food was delicious. The Caesar salad was one of my favs, especially with the crunchy but soft on the inside croutons. Great food, kinda and tentative bar service, and good overall ambiance in the restaurant. We sat at the bar for dinner and drinks- fantastic cocktails ( the bramble with gin and an old fashioned.) Started with the blistered hungarian pepper appetizer which was perfect for 3 as we each got a piece! Plus, it came with focaccia. My mom and I both got the peel n' eat shrimp appetizer with a side of brussels as our meals while my dad got the sausage and mushroom pizza. This is a restaurant with an option for everyone and everything was done well- not an overwhelming amount of choices, nor just thrown together. Our food was hot and fresh- one of my biggest issues with going out to eat is knowing it was sitting on the counter for a while prior to being brought to the table. Though on the pricer end, I will hopefully be back soon as I had no complaints and multiple other dishes of interest!
