Service was extremely slow and almost non existent..I think we were at the restaurant during staff shift change. Also our table was in the far back upstairs by the restrooms, the sparkle chicken statue and the to go boxes. On a positive note: the food was really good and worth the wait. Moments later more people came downstairs who was also white. This happened twice. I am astonished that this is taking place. I was super happy to find Mello Mushrooms on my happy cow app~ with vegan options. When we arrived, it was kinda dingy but we really wanted to give it a try. We ordered 2 pizzas and one garlic bread. The garlic bread was good. The pizzas were so-so. My daughter liked hers but they really piled on the vegan cheese, so it left it kinda doughy but the crust was tasty. The other pizza wasn't made correctly, so it got sent back. The server didn't really seem to care at all. So at that point i was like~ ugh I'd never come here again. But the manager popped by and was very kind and willing to make the meal right and i really appreciated his kindness. So now, I'd be willing to give it another shot. Interesting place with relatively good food. Relatively, meaning, at least they're using a lot of vegetables that seem to be pretty fresh. And, it's definitely vegetarian friendly, and seems to be pretty fresh ingredients. Stay downstairs, I think it's non-smoking. Meal consisted of muffuletta cheese bread, half a turkey hoagie, and one of their new burgers with the carne. sweet tea, water, & tip brings it to $30. Our waiter was sweet, she was perfectly fine. The muffuletta bread was okay. Olives were a little heavy this time. The hoagie had very bitter white onions on it. One bite and I had to take off the rest because it was too potent to eat raw. I'm tasting onions for hours now. Subway makes a better sandwich. The burger was nothing special. $9.99 for any regular burger that you're better off buying from the grocery store and grilling yourself. Toppings were average. read more

Ordered a Gluten Free pizza, 9in pizza, and a kids meal. The 9in pizza came out warm, the gluten free pizza came out cold and the kids meal was correct. The manager on duty tried to re-serve the pizza after warming it up in the oven after the server touched the top and told us it was cold. This quality that was once here is now completely gone. I asked the manager if he would be willing to have a cold pizza reheated and served to him and his replay was "No I would not eat it." I asked him then why did you do that to us and his reply was "we have done this multiple times before and it had been fine." I will not be coming back to this location again, this mellow mushroom has gone completely down hill, wish Z pizza would come back, but Maddio's has moved into the area and looks like that will be our downtown pizza place from now on! Looks like Lexington maddios is still a go for us. UPDATE******* Talked to the Owner/manager and told him of the issues we had. He seemed understanding of why I was upset with what had happened. I listened to his side as did he. Both of us came to an understanding of what had happened and it is now up to them to fix the issues. While I always enjoy my food from Mellow, I recently placed an online to go order which was not complicated. I was able to select my pick up time to be 7:00pm and when I went to pick it up, it was not ready. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but 30minutes later we are still waiting for our pizza. I was told it would take 10 more minutes to be ready and we waited for much longer than 10 minutes. If you are placing an order and are on a schedule, do not count on them staying true to your pickup time! read more

This is the most poorly managed restaurant I've ever dealt with. I work for a food delivery app and they are consistantly late with my orders. One of the managers finally reached out to me via email but once I told them my complaints they never responded. The most recent complaint that I have is that I called this restaurant three times to place an order but no one answered. Once I arrived they told me that they took the phone off the hook because it was ringing too much. I've never worked for a restaurant but I'm pretty sure its not good practice to unhook the phone because it is ringing too much. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. read more

Mellow Mushroom has some of the best pizza in town. It's easily in the top 3. The only negative to them is the service is VERY hit or miss. A few years back I actually knew most of the wait staff, so I could get great service from any of the ones that I knew. Now that I'm like anyone else who walks in, and cannot get preferential treatment, I've had some service that left a lot to be desired. However, I will say that for a restaurant of it's type, they're only going to get college students who are willing to work as a waiter/waitress, so sometimes it can be quite difficult to find good help in that realm. Anyway, the pizza and sandwiches are great. If you go to a restaurant to eat good food, you'll enjoy Mellow Mushroom. read more

All I can say, poor customer service!!! For what ever reason, the waitress brought my 2 friends meal to the table and without mine. After waiting patiently for 5-10 minutes, I respectfully asked the waitress about my meal. She responded by saying she was going to go get it. The waitress continued to take orders and bring beverages to other tables. 30-40 minutes later, the waitress came to the table to top of the water, I asked her again about my meal, she said she was going to go get it. My two friends asked for a to-go box ( by then they were done with their pizza)and I ask her to bring my meal in a to go box. Bradley, the manager and his staff were awesome. They set me up with gallons of tea for everyone, plates, napkins, cups - the works. They even carried it all to my car for me. Hands down, my favorite pizza. All other pizza is compared to Mellow Mushroom in my book. Is it cheap? No. But it is fantastic.

Great service! The wait for us wasn't great, but the waiter explained that there are new kitchen staff, and compensated our meal for it! This psychedelic spot located on the east end of The Congaree Vista has become a staple in the downtown Columbia area. With two levels that also includes a bar, this establishment allows for family night outs during the evening or a casual nightlife during the late night. Parking can be an issue since this is a popular spot on weekend nights and weekdays during lunch, so I recommend dropping in for lunch on the weekend. Mellow Mushroom goal is to provide the freshest quality ingredients for their pizza, salads, hoagies, and calzones. My wife and I had the jerk hoagie and the mushroom club hoagie, respectively. Went here for lunch with coworkers. It took over 1.5 hours for us to receive our lunch. This would've been fine if they would've informed us service was taking longer than normal. We asked if salads could come before pizza. Nope, didn't happen. Everything came at once and boy it was disappointing. Pizza was COLD, salads were messed up and even a whole order was forgotten. It was truly unacceptable from start to finish. We asked to speak to the manager and he gave us excuses at first. Then he decided to comp our entire bill, which was very nice.
