Mellow Mushrooms is one of the places that I always forget about although it has one of the best pizzas around. We were a party of 13 but our server sure made our experience better. Gabi was friendly and nice. She was patient as well with all of us and managed to have all our orders correct. We ordered few pizzas and we didn't have that much to take home with us. If you're not really hungry nor am eater, don't order bigger than the small. We had the wings (both kinds) and were super tasty and juicy. Not dry and over cooked. The pretzel bites and the artichoke spinach dip were good, but the wings shined more. Going back to the pizza. Wasn't really thrilled with the Buffalo side, but the holy shiitake "my personal favourite"... Let me start with the freshness of the dough; it was exquisite! As soon as I bit into the crust, I could taste the authenticity and freshness of the dough. It was light yet chewy, and perfectly complemented the toppings. Speaking of which... It was loaded with various kinds of mouth-watering mushrooms, and each of them brought a unique flavor to the dish. The nutty and earthy taste of the shiitake mushrooms blended beautifully with the meaty flavor of the button mushrooms. The rich, velvety texture of the portobello mushrooms also stood out, in the pizza. But what brought it all together was the truffle oil. The aroma and flavor of truffle oil are unmistakable, and it added an extra layer of decadence to the pizza. It was the perfect amount to not overpower the mushrooms, but instead complement them beautifully. Overall, I would highly recommend this pizza to all mushroom and truffle lovers out there. It's a smart casual dish that is a perfect balance of earthy, nutty, and rich flavors, with an excellent freshness of the dough. Good place amazing food and great pizza. Will be back soon. read more

We were greeted right away and we had our menu and drinks very quickly. I had the salad and slice lunch and, at least for me, either one would have been enough for my meal. We Lsohad the California Club, half of which came home, my son had a calzone which would have fed all of us. It wS a little pricy for lunch but we have enough leftover for dinner. read more

We do online orders quite often and it's such a smooth process. The food is always consistent and I highly recommend the gluten free crust option. If you are very hungry the calzone is a massive dish and very tasty. If you dine in they have a very nice patio and bar. Peace and love read more

The space/layout of the front entrance could use some work. If it's busy with a wait there's very little space for standing/seating unfortunately. After three visits we still love the food, recommend calzones and the spin dip! Waitresses are very pleasant and give good insight when we have questions. Hoping to visit again soon. read more

When Me, my mom, and my sister's pizza came. It was big! I tasted it and I felt like I was in heaven... There was this song guessing game, with Disney songs! My family are Disney fans. I have visited multiple Mellow Mushrooms from Austin to North Carolina (a mutual friend is the manager of the one near Fort Brag), this is one of the friendliest of all so far. Bartender was extremely accommodating and was intrigued with my combination of the spinach dip and meat balls ;) Manager was also very kind once they heard I was a military veteran, I really felt very welcome to for being a traveler. I was rather impressed with the VIP invitation for the 14th of November, sadly I worked nights and I could not make it. Please keep me in mind for future VIP events. read more

The cheese fell off the pizza when it was not hot anymore. It should not of fallen off when it was no longer hot. This place also had paper straws which I know saves the environment but they suck and I hate them. The service was good tho. read more

If you are hungry & just need food in your stomach then this place is ok. Otherwise if you like good pizza, I'd go somewhere else. It took a few minutes for our waitress to arrive, but the restaurant was full. Overall our wait once we ordered (just a large pepperoni & portabella pizza) was 30 minutes, not too bad considering it was full at 4:30pm. The crust was very tasty & occasionally you could taste a garlic sauce which was yummy. However, the pizza was loaded with bland mozzarella cheese, loaded! There was barely any sauce so you were just eating cheese mostly in every bite. Even my two & five year old weren't fans & just ate the crust. We realized half way home that we left our leftovers behind & we weren't upset about it at all. A few more non food things that were annoying: the chairs were awkward. My husband & I were sat next to one another for a bit & kept getting the legs of our chairs caught against each other while we moved in/out to help the kids who were in the booth across from us. When we sat on the booth side it was awkward to get out of the booth because the table leg was in the way (we were sat at 6 person table). It was just oddly designed. The restaurant was also dirty...the floors were covered in crumbs. However, the women's bathroom was clean, but my husband said the men's had no paper towels. read more

Excellent food and service. We dined on the patio. Unfortunately the parents of two boys about 3-4 Allowed them to run from one end of the restaurant to the other screaming. At one point they were on the play area unsupervised and a plastic ring flew right by my head and hit my glass. Next up, three year olds swinging golf putters at each other. Service is inconsistent, but the food is delicious. 5 minutel wait for a table and available parking tricked us into thinking we could eat in a timely manner. 40 minute wait for our single appetizer. Server never checked on us or explained/apologized for the wait. Food appeared 6 minutes after app and server couldn't understand why we weren't ready for him to clear the app yet. Other tables ordered at similar time, ate, paid, and left before our food came. We love the food here, but have to plan for a 75-90 minute visit each time, which seems excessive for a party of 2 at slightly off peak hours. First Yelp review! We've been to Mellow Mushroom three times now, and it has only gotten better each time. The service is the biggest area of improvement as our first visit was very frustrating due to our server's inexperience and awkwardness. Our server this time was fast and friendly and our order came out just as we ordered. The food was hot and delicious, as it has been each time! One note: it seems like the staff is trained to bring out kids meals as soon as possible. While I can appreciate the thought behind this, it has been frustrating for us each time because our son finishes eating before we even get our food, which means we have to entertain him ourselves while our food sits uneaten. This visit was much better, but it would be nice if the servers would ask our preference on this. Regardless we will be mentioning it to our server next time. read more

I've been here twice now. The first time was ok. It's a definite fun 80s throwback vibe. We sat at the bar to avoid the super long wait. The service was terrible. The bartenders only wanted to pump drinks out -- not take actual food orders. The pizza eventually arrived and it was lots more crust than toppings. I'm good with crust. But the toppings stopped short of the crust more than an inch. I reserved judgement. We went back this week to try it again. And honestly I walked away thinking. "It's not bad pizza." But really it's not good either. It's average or a little below average. The toppings were again scant. This time stopping short right under 2" from the crust. If I'm going to pay $25 for a pizza, I'll go somewhere that has more going for it than the awesome 80s tunes. read more

I see the owner responded to my last review but I'm not sure how to respond directly so I'm doing another review. We came in for lunch this past Sunday about 11:30 to beat the church rush. We were seated immediately. After that, it was all par for the course. We had guests from out of town so we were talking and I forgot again to ask for it well done. Everyone at the table agreed the crust was undercooked. Was still slooow but not quite as slow as other visits. Need to do better. Caesar salad still awesome. Order was not accurate. We ordered 3 small pizzas for the table. One came with unwanted onions. Service was so-so this time. Also a woman (owner? manager?) stopped to ask how everything was. Told her about the onions. Didn't seem to care all that much. She did the courtesy of offering to remake but we didn't have time, as slow as they are, to wait on another one. We had 1:00 movie tickets. Each time we visit this place drops a notch on my consideration set for pizza joints. I'll still be back but dang, if y'all can't get the crust cooked, it will be less often. (Side note, I understand the environmental issue but the paper straws suck) Hopefully the owners are taking everyone's posts to heart. You do have a lot of room to improve. A solid three stars. The White Pizza is fantastic, though I prefer it without the onions. They put on an amazing amount of cheese, which I guess explains why the bottom of the box is *soaked* with grease when you order a pie to go. The spinach salad is delicious, minus the pecans this time around. They were sort of chewy, as opposed to crunchy. The generous portion of feta cheese and dried cranberries made up for it, though. :) All of the dressings I've tried are great. Do NOT miss out on their calzones! I prefer a slightly crispier crust; theirs is typically kind of chewy - though that could be because the to go box wasn't vented last time. The Spinach Artichoke appetizer I've had while dining in was an A+. It was plenty for three to share, with a large pie coming our way shortly thereafter. Six of us came here to eat and as we've been to the Sunset Hills location, this was a unanimous decision and we all love their pizzas. I have to say The Restrooms were so dirty and nasty and they smelled so bad when the ladies came out of the restroom they didn't even want to stay, because if you don't give a crap what your restrooms look and smell like you don't care what about the cleanliness of your kitchen. Needless to say we ate somewhere else. We will go to the Sunset Hills location again their restrooms are clean and so is the rest of the restaurant and we know their food is fantastic. read more

I was shocked to see how many bad reviews this place has, b/c my husband and I LOVED it! And take my word for it, I am a food snob! I was going to forego my positive review--if the average rating stays low, fewer people will go, which means shorter wait time for us, right?? But I just couldn't help but step up to defend MM. It was 3 families, with 5 kids among us (ages 2-8). We got there early--about 11:25am on sat. Not too many guests there yet. We were seated (by the lovely hostess Katie) at a really cool, long table that seated all 10 of us. It had sea shells inside the table, with a glass table top. Fun for the kids and adults! Our server, Omanda (sp?), was patient with our group, answered our questions knowledgeably. After taking our orders, she saw the birthday cake at my place and said, "Oh, happy birthday! You get a free cookie." That was so nice; none of us had told her of the birthday, she just noticed and made the offer. EXCELLENT customer service. (I'm a hard ass about that, too.) My husband and I shared a medium Thai Dye pizza (a specialty/limited time pie) on the original crust. I'm not from STL, so I don't want anything to do with this thin crust nonsense! We both thought it was AMAZING! Our son got the kids French Bread Pizza. Wow, that's definitely the fanciest kids pizza I ever saw! He did not eat all of it, so I ate his leftovers later that evening. WOOOOWW!! I think it was just French bread, pizza sauce, cheese, and spices, but it was so flavorful! The Italian seasoning (?) sprinkled on it was a great move by the cook (though my son didn't like the spices, plllbbbbttt). I also sampled some of the mushroom soup my friend ordered--delicious! Our friends shared their Holy Shitake Pizza with us, so I got a small slice of that. Holy Shitake is right! So good! But the sauce is really rich, so I wouldn't have been able to eat more than that, I think. Mediocre pizza at best! Too many much better Mom and Pop pizza joints nearby to visit this chain again. I am going to "Forget about it!" and go to a real pizza joint not a chain. Started off with the pretzels and cheese, pretty good appetizer, tasty PBR flavored cheese. Things took a turn when a strange pizza was placed in front of us. We realized the huge meat covered pizza that was set in front of us without our confirmation or consent was not ours. We looked at each other and waited, eventually our waitress came by and immediately noticed the problem. She grabbed the pizza and took it away, shortly there after returning with the pizza we ordered. I wondered if our pizza sat on another table in front of 2 people that would not dare touch it or if the people were curious about the ingredients then put it back together. We dug into our half and half pizza to find a couple of surprises. My half was the mushroom specialty, it was ok, greasy and not so tasty ingredients but edible. My daughter dug into her half of the pizza and realized it had red sauce not olive oil sauce. Her order was corrected by the staff, they were nice but the place is "disorganized". It looks like they got issues at this place. They messed up the pizza for the table next to us, tried to pass a small off when a large was ordered, none of my business though. Morel of the Mushroom story is to go somewhere else and forget about this place. Lots of local talent within 3 miles that I sincerely apologize for not visiting tonight. Excellent first impression!!! Open less than one week, and things seem to be running pretty smoothly! Steady crowd, even for late lunch. Wait time reasonable....to be seated and for the pizza. The wait time seems to be over estimated, which is SMART!!! . Greek salad was a great intro to our Great White Pizza (similar to a Margherita pizza). YA'LL THEY HAVE A FROZEN JACK AND COKE MACHINE Okay, so I got Bacardi and Coke but wow was it good! And it only got better! I really like Mellow Mushrooms and since this one is right around the corner from where I live we tried it out for Valentine's Day. We checked in on Yelp and then when we got there we waited about 30 minutes for a table. When we were sat we had a very friendly server who was able to recommend pizzas and apps and drinks. We decided on a medium half mighty meaty and half hey dude (like buffalo chicken but better). We also got the spinach dip for an appetizer. Pizza: Absolutely amazing. Lots and lots of cheese on a medium-thin crust with a crispy edge. While both halves were good my favorites was the hey dude. Big giant chunks of chicken with jalapeño slices and cheese and buffalo sauce. Also, the bacon is REAL. Not bacon bits and not tiny strips but BIG MEATY STRIPS OF BACON. Spinach dip: fresh and hot! Creamy spinach dip that was extremely rich. It has lots of spinach and Parmesan cheese and was served with garlic bread (it was more bread than toast but still delicious). Food is good, business isn't so great. The first time I ordered from this establishment they hadn't received my orders pre-payment when I arrived but my card had already been charged. After showing my bank app to the manager I was told he couldn't do anything. After escalating and telling them I wouldn't be robbed I got my pizza. I've had other good experiences with ordering online or over the phone so I thought I'd leave a review to get $3 off my food. When I arrived they said the coupon is for orders over $15 which it said no where, and they also acknowledged that.. still knowing that I had gave them a good review I paid full price and that's the last time I'll pay full price.
