I've been eating MM pizzas for 25 years all over Atlanta and never get tired of them. They change slightly from location to location, but are always wonderful ! The wife and I always split the amazing spinach salad and a medium Cosmic Karma pie. Wow. It is too yummy. (Be sure and ask the chef to pile on extra Karma !) Great example of the Mellow Mushroom chain which ranges from drabby strip mall locations to this gem of an old house converted into a restaurant. It used to be a more upscale eatery that has been tastefully redone as a Mellow Mushroom. Waitstaff can be quirky, but service is usually good. I was in town on business and told I had to check this place out, so I did with 3 other coworkers. The business is in a big old beautiful home. The vibe is fun. The staff was very friendly. We had the bruchetta and the stuffed portobella mushroom. Both were delicious. I also had the magic mushroom soup - I could not eat it fast enough. It was so yummy. We all ordered different entrees - some had calzones, 1 salad, and I had the mega-veggie pizza. The crust was really flavorful and well cooked. I absolutely love this Mellow Mushroom location. Having once been an upscale restaurant, this location's interior has the hippy charisma of other Mellow Mushrooms, with a little existing class. The pizza is always amazing (Mighty Meaty with jalapenos, please!) and the beer selection is more diverse than your expected domestic choices. I eat here about once every two weeks. This place has an amazing atmosphere, which is half of the appeal. The building was originally something else that was fancier and without destroying the integrity of the building (which is located on historic Green St.) they funked it up with artwork, wild colors and my favorite - glass marbles in the windows. It's always packed, except for early lunch. Staff is friendly, but sometimes slow - dare I say, mellow? The food is consistently great - my order has never been wrong, it's usually on time and always hits the spot! I have been going to this restaurant since I was little, every time I go there it always feels like home. I can't say it enough, but this is the best place to eat. Very family friendly. And if you do go there I would ask for the amazing waitress Blake. She was very nice and funny and was a big help!!! But don't get me wrong the whole staff was very awesome. 1st time ever to Mellow Mushroom. The waitress was very nice and always on top of our table weather it be refills or simply getting rid of unneeded clutter! Started off with the cheesy garlic bread I recommend getting 2 orders of these it's that good! I got a small cheese pizza which was really good and filled me up... I had a very pleasant experience with one of your employees today. I was on Thompson bridge road with a flat tire and seeing as I am 73 I have a very hard time moving around. A young man wearing a green mellow mushroom hat pulled in behind me and proceeded to walk up to my vehicle. He asked if everything was ok and if I needed help. I told him I had called my son but it would be an hour before he got here. The young man then insisted that he change my tire as he had nothing else to do. I was shocked! There aren't many young people anymore that would do this! As he was changing the tire I asked him about his job and he informed me that he was a kitchen worker at your restaurant! I have never eaten here but if the staff is as nice as this young man was I will be sure to become a regular! I never caught this boys name sadly. He had a tattoo of an Indian on his arm and drove a green truck. Please tell this young man that he made a lasting impression and that I am forever greatful for his actions! read more

This is the best Mellow Mushroom I have ever been to. Its in a cool old victorian mansion. It is always well run. The manager has great customer service. They wait staff is always friendly and the Za and salads are great. Try the greek salad and a mighty meaty pizza, oh and don't forget the beers! read more

So we stopped in here while visiting town for a funeral. It was a busy night, but not overwhelmingly so. Gf and I ordered two pizzas. 45 minutes later and we still don't have food. We asked how long it would be, and our server made a joke about how the kitchen sucked tonight and laughed it off. We were not amused. We had an early morning the next day and wanted to get back to our hotel for some rest. We asked again how long it would be and were told that it would be right out. After nearly an hour of waiting we had to have our pizza boxed up to go. Not once did a manager come to our table and offer an apology or explanation. We have family in the area and are in town from time to time but this will not be a future stop for us. It sucks because we've had great experiences at other locations. read more

The Mellow Mushroom in Gainesville is excellent. They completely remodeled the building and it has a great atmosphere. The bar and wait staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the decor of this particular Mellow Mushroom. However, the operation seems to be "run" by immature high school students who don't care about anything so I have to give the establishment a low score. Went in to pick up a take out order, the girl behind the register found my order, I paid and was missing half of my order. She was definitely not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Got home to find that my pepperoni/mushroom pizza was only 50% pepperoni/mushroom. The chips were the ones I asked for, the hoagie was not toasted.... Think the owner needs to take a more hands on approach at this location. read more

I have had pizza in Naples, Rome, La Maddalena Italy, and different pizzerias on 5 continents. No place compares to the crust that I had at the Mellow Mushroom by far the best crust I have tasted had on a pizza. Service was a little slow for a pretty much empty restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. Sadly I will not be going to the Mellow Mushroom again. Their pizzas are great and I've never had any complaint when I order a whole pizza. However I will not be buying by the slice again. For some reason the quality on the slices are not up to par in my opinion. They are always under cooked. The cheese should be at least melted... I've ordered slices on multiple occasions and I thought it was just a one off, but it seems to be the norm here. If ONLY a tasty pizza is your mission & you aren't particular, then this place is for you. Make sure you have a lot of time b/c they take longer than any restaurant in Gainesville. As other reviewers said, your order stands big chance of coming to your table wrong- not what you ordered. The wait staff isn't buying into the whole customer service thing and if you're really lucky, you won't have a long hair or two in your food. At least they don't charge extra for that. read more
