One of my all time favorite places to eat. Holy Shitaki is my weakness. Never had a meal that wasn't fabulous!

Always positive, relaxing vibes in Mellow. Great place to come for pizza and beer. I highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip appetizer and the Holy Shiitake pie or Cosmic Karma. Also pretty cool that this location is in a victorian style home in historic downtown Gainesville. Im typically not one to get super excited about chains as I have been to many Mellow's in many cities but what can I say...they are reliably yummy. read more

From the exterior, I wouldn't have even thought it was a restaurant! The whole concept of turning an old house into a Mellow Mushroom is really neat. The interior is decorated in a way that makes you feel cozy. Mellow Mushroom offers vegan and vegetarian options. I ordered a pizza with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and substituted the cheese for daiya. Over all, it was pretty good but my biggest complaint is the GARLIC. They put huge (and I mean HUGE) chunks of garlic scattered around underneath the cheese. A couple bites in, I was fine, then one more bite and BAM! a whole mouth full of garlic. It was kinda gross and I couldn't just pick the garlic out because it was underneath the cheese and in random spots. so I just kinda dealt with it and didn't want to ask them to remake it for time restraints. Other than that, I love Mellow Mushroom. Just go easy with the garlic. read more

I left a review about a month ago with concerns over this location not following covid protocols as stated on the Yelp page. Social distancing is impossible when picking up from the restaurant as the lobby is crowded with massless customers. No temperature checks or hand sanitizer, etc. as advertised on the Yelp side description. I got a quick response on Yelp from Jaquelyn C. requesting for me to follow up with gainesvillega@mellowmushroom.com. I removed my first Yelp as I thought that maybe I caught this location on an off night and my concerns will be addressed privately. it's a hit or miss if you get good service. was put on a wait list and told it be about 30 minutes, after an hour and noticing 3 groups of the same size seated before us ( all of which arrived after us). This is the best mellow mushroom ever. These are gluten free pizzas and are delicious. My wife is celiac and she is actually able to eat from this store. Thank you for taking your time to not cross contaminate. The pizzas are cooked to perfection with plenty of toppings. I add marinara on top of mine for extra deliciousness. Lol read more

I am a HUGE fan of this Mellow Mushroom! I have gone as a party of 2, 6, 10 and even 18 one time and that was 6 adults and 12 thirteen year old girls (WOWZA). We have had great food and service EVERYTIME we have come. There has never been an issue, the beer is always cold, the pizza is delicious. There is something for everyone.. Is there always a wait if you go for dinner Friday or Saturday? Yes, always.. so come expecting that but mellow out and have a beer while you wait. Speaking of beer, they have excellent prices and quite a selection. PARMESEAN PRETZELS WITH BEER CHEESE- you must order this. They bring it out with the marinara sauce as well and that is good too, but dipping the pretzels in that cheese..OMG YUM! If you have any cheese or marinara sauce left over, keep it to dip your pizza crust in. You're welcome. So on to the pizzas....Every pizza here is good. We have tried every pizza on their menu including the Cesar Salad pizza LOL...... Our favorite is the Holy Shitake - it has aioli sauce and mushrooms. I can just sit and eat this pizza all day long. When we have family/friends from Miami come up, this is one of the places we bring them. Everyone always ends up loving it and asks to come back. For a chain, this location is impressive. read more

I hadn't been to the Mellow Mushroom before, but had eaten some pizza in the past week. I figured there's no way one large would be big enough for us so we ordered two. Mellow Mushroom does not play around with the toppings. They just mound it on! The House Special was terrific. The Holy Shiitake was good, but they actually found my limit on mushrooms. I love Mellow Mushroom's food, and this location really puts out good pizza, sandwiches and pretzels. However, servers in the place are not the best, have had a couple that were more interested in hanging with their friends who were there eating then refilling our drinks. Also, the place is loud. I can understand maximizing restaurant space, but there are too many tables crammed in. When you have a table with 10 seated next to a two seater, well, you tell me how enjoyable the dining experience is for the two top. I like their food, but its not a place I'd like go out of my way to go. read more

Its a solid four stars. It might have been five except for the beer. It is located inside a grand old house and just as the others have said it is decorated in themes that make sense if your 21. There is plenty of ample parking around back although the street sign is the same size as a pizza box so it pays to use GPS if your from out of town (Victim of deluded sign ordinance no less). we were seated in a side room. Menu's arrived and then that was it. 20 minutes goes by. No-one shows up. I get up and walk to the bar, i'm thirsty and pissed that I've been ignored. A spotty kid suddenly shows up and asks me would I like to return to my table to order, OK I'll play along since he realizes his tip is shrinking by the second. We order a medium standard pizza. we finish our drinks and are about halfway into the second round when the food finally shows, about 15-20 minutes after we order. The pie is top notch, a five star pizza no less. Spotty kid then decides to check in with us about every five minutes after we start to eat which gets annoying. Overall the food is five and the service is just a 4. Don't be in a hurry to eat! read more

This MM outpost is on Green Street, among a string of large old homes that I believe is on the National Historic Register, or some such. While most of the homes appear to have been converted into lawyers' offices or chiropractic clinics (and are mostly painted white), MM's house stands out in green. Parking is sufficient (at least for the times we have been for lunch) in back of the restaurant. It is an odd, non-level space that appears to have been patched together with expansions over time (and shared with other businesses?). Inside, some of the walls have been removed but the dining areas are still somewhat subdivided by rooms. The first time we went (a couple of years ago) service seemed slow. However, on our more recent visit, service was fine. The menu is the standard from all the MM, with the slight variation-by-location that they allow / encourage. The food was good. I am fond of the Thai pizza. Also, though the BLT is no longer officially on the menu, most locations will still make one. It is rare that we find ourselves in Gainesville at mealtime, but I'll keep MM in mind for any such future situations. read more

The location in Gainesville is in a great, vintage location. The menu had many options, but offered some great combinations of pizza. Cheese bread was ok, but not my favorite. So, I'm pretty disappointed. When my husband and I decided on pizza for dinner I had to convince him to get Mellow Mushroom. We ordered a medium Great White, a medium Pacific Rim, BBQ wings, and pretzels, for a total of $62.51. Wings & pretzels are fine, but the pizza- at $20 a pie- missed the mark. The Pacific Rim was prepared correctly but the crust was burnt. The Great White looked good but was missing the basil, which unfortunately made the pizza bland. We ordered pizza for pick-up and didn't catch the errors until we were home & we were not about to drive all the way back. I won't be able to talk him into spending money here again- not with other places like Atlas pizza or Sliced nearby. read more

My sister and I were camping at the nearby State Park and were starving so we called for takeout. We bought two medium pizzas (Veggie and Pepperoni) and spent over $40.00. When we got back to the campsite and dug in we were SO DISAPPOINTED. The pizza didn't even taste like Mellow Mushroom pizza. (Their crust normally has a delicious very distinctive taste.) Came in on a Saturday night, and there was a 15 minute wait. Once we were seated our server put in for the free pretzel appetizer we got for checking in on yelp. The pretzels were so delicious and perfect with the beer cheese sauce. My family and I order medium two pizzas to share. We got a great white with added bacon, and a philosophers pie. Both pizzas were excellent, but the philosophers pie was the best, mainly for the combo of steak,olives, and feta which is exceptional. It was the best pizza I have had in a long time! read more

It's a pretty average pizza chain, in my opinion! They have a decent selection of beers which is nice. I ordered the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin IPA, which is a favorite of mine! It has a nice, summery flavor that pairs nicely with the slightly more mild hops. Our server was very sweet, but clearly a little overwhelmed by our large group. I absolutely love this Mellow Mushroom location! The old historic home is beautiful! We eat at this location at least twice a month. We always have great service, and the food is very good. Their jerk chicken salad is fantastic. Their wings are to die for. Their Maui Wowie Pizza is the best! The only thing I miss, is they took the muffaletta bread off the menu. That was so so good! I love Mellow Mushroom. Used to eat at the Midtown Atlanta location when I was in College at Georgia State - that was back when people understood the true meaning of the name. The quality hasn't changed in all those years. We love to get a Greek salad to share. The house special pizza should just come with a box to go because it's loaded with toppings and we can never eat it all. My wife especially like the 'white' pizza's and all the various choices with spinach, and other "weeds" on it. This Gainesville Green Street location is in a beautiful old home (or should I say Mansion) and the staff and service is excellent. The only negative might be the noise level - even though the restaurant is divided into small rooms, we could not hold a conversation. Of course some of that may have been the drunk soccer moms having a very loud "mom's night out" at the next table :-(. read more

Loved this place! i have been wanting to try this in our home town of Panama City Beach but had an opportunity to go while visiting family in Georgia. This is a cool place with a great atmosphere! I started off with a seasonal beer called bells and a diet coke. The beer was great and the soda was in a huge glass so you did not have to wait for refills. Our waitress Brooke was wonderful. She was very upbeat and always stayed on top of our table! I ordered as side salad and white pizza. YUMMY! The pizza was great and the salad was a good size. There is usually a wait to get in but we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a seat but when we left at 8PM there were at least 30 people waiting to be seated. Well worth the wait. I don't usually get that excited about Mellow Mushroom pizza, but I had wanted to try this location for a while. It is in a really pretty Victorian style house in Gainesville. Parking is decent (good sized lot behind the house) and we were promptly greeted and seated. The place is gorgeous inside. It's really spacious and colorful with a funky look (big mushroom murals on the walls, etc.) The service was quick and polite and the pizza was the best I have had from this chain. I would recommend this location to anyone. We also tried a few cookies to go - would not recommend those. They were stale and dry. Stick to the pizza and you can't go wrong. read more

Only went once for a carry out online order but they forgot to include my wings and the pizza wasn't ready until 4:37pm even though it was supposed to be ready by 4:09 (we placed the order at 3:37). I then had to hold my pizza in the lobby like a weirdo while the runner had to go back and get my forgotten or misplaced wings started. That took an additional 15 minutes. After finally getting my order complete they just handed me the wings and said sorry. No explanation and more importantly, no effort to make the mishap right. I get that mistakes happen. I'm not frustrated with that. It was the lack of accountability and appropriate response that resulted in me leaving this negative review. Place looked great and we were actually stoked to dine in at a later date but we won't be rushing to return after this bad online ordering experience. It's too bad because we love Mellow Mushroom. I hope what we experienced isn't the norm. All they had to do was comp an item or offer an honest explanation for the error, or at least offer to keep the pizza warm while I wait for the wings! Very disappointed. Ordered the karma pizza which was decent. The crazy Q pizza was not good! On the entire large pizza there were literally 4 pieces of chicken on the entire pizza, each piece being about 1/2 inches. Very little onions. We spent $60 on pizza tonight and my husband ate a bowl of Cheerios instead. Crust is not flavorful. Toppings are nearly nonexistent. We used to love MM, no more!! read more
