Our family often stops at this Mellow Mushroom to visit family who live in Macon. This is the second time we've happened in on an evening where there is an open mic or karaoke occurring during the dinner rush. Last time we were thankfully on the exterior porch and mostly avoided the loud music inside. Unfortunately it was so hot this evening we were unable to escape outdoors as the music and seeing were very. It really was a bit unbearable and I had a headache when I left from the loud singing. At one point when I was in the restroom another woman came in and complained she was going crazy because the music/singing was too loud. The restaurant has a nice environment like most all MMs. I got the Steak calzone which was pretty good & the Caesar salad was fresh. My kids enjoyed the meatball pizza and a salad as well. It would be nice to visit this place again but I will definitely turn around on the spot to go elsewhere if I hear the singing again. read more

Visited on 4th of July weekend. Let me start by saying that I've been to many Mellow Mushroom locations before, in and out of my own state. There's a baseline that the chain has established. Place looked busy from the outside, but was less than half full when we walked in. We were seated fairly quickly. Ordered in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress hit the basics, but was not outstanding. The kitchen was loud and obnoxious (open kitchen...not sure if this is a new setup in the more recent builds or not). We waited a good amount of time for our food to show up, but our drinks stayed full. I ordered a Portobello Reuben, which arrived hot, but sloppily assembled. It was good to fine, and all the flavors were in place. My brother and sister-in-law ordered some calzones. Aside from being a tad on the greasy side, crustwise, very solid and full of ingredients and cheese. Appetizing, even. Where they really screwed up was my wife's shrimp po-boy. Holy Cow. I've never seen shrimp overcooked so badly. There's underdone, done, rubbery...and then there were these shrimp. You could say they were rubbery, if the rubber we're talking about exists in a superball. So hard, so unyielding. So bad. They were covered with Cajun seasoning so thick that the one or two she managed to give a chance disgusted her. She tried eating the bread, but the sandwich was a lost cause. Maybe it was the holiday weekend, maybe it was the kitchen staff, but our experience here was not a good one. Why not ask for a refund? I wasn't sure I'd want to meet the manager of this place. It had a significantly rougher vibe than any other restaurant we visited in Macon over the holiday weekend, and they don't have to worry about us rejoining them the next time we come through. This was enough to almost put my wife off Mellow Mushroom as a chain. read more

I love this place! Discovered it in Conyers. Went to Milledgeville one about a year ago. Usually the chain restaurants vary from location to location as far as quality is concerned. Not here. I've been just as pleased with each one. Consistent quality food with a big menu, including "bad" food as well as numerous healthier, such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free selections available--all delicious with really fresh ingredients and great service! Lunch today was wonderful. We will be back as it is so close to home. read more

My food took almost an hour to come out. Tables next to us got their food before us. The music was cool just too loud. I complained to the manager and she didnt seem to care. I will not be returning. I have better service at a fast food restaurant. If you expect tips, I expect at least decent service. read more

I love Mellow Mushroom and was glad to find this oasis on a long road trip. Stopped in too close to closing and the pizza ovens were off but the barkeep hooked me up with some soup and a good IPA and some philosophy banter - almost made me not miss my Magical Mystery Tour pizza craving. Food is good but not great. Better pizza than most places in Macon but not the best in my opinion. Awesome wide variety of food along side their pizza including dessert options. Knocking them for slow albeit friendly service. Not having any "beer club" membership cards when we came and serving some of their beers in 10 ounce pours. Trivia on Tuesday is also available at the Macon location which is pretty fun. read more

I have been going to this location for years, even before management change when bartenders were more interested in getting themselves and friends drunk which is why I am sure they closed and eventually changed ownership and management. Since all has been pretty good but the last 2 times we have gone service at bar has been well below par. Me and spouse always sit at bar but the female bartender we have had the last few times doesn't seem very interested in customer service. Last evening after getting our pizza we sat for more than 10 minutes before we were finally able to get her attention for drinks and eating utensils (please do away with the plastic, we aren't there for backyard BBQ). When we asked another employee right before that about utensils he just held up a container showing it was empty, didn't bother walking to get more. I know Covid has made things a little more difficult but they weren't busy so no excuse for having to sit at bar for more than 10 minutes to get bartender attention. We love the pizza so will probably be back but hopefully service will get better. read more

I've eaten at this location numerous times and the service was always friendly and fast for pizza. Unfortunately, I ordered take out one weekend and the experience is deterring me from coming back again anytime soon. First off, the sign for picking up to go orders isn't where you go to pick it up. I walked in on the side, stood there, then had to go the hostess stand to figure out what was going on. They seem confused and sent me to the bar. I told them I was there to pick up an order and the less than friendly waitress/bartender snapped back "online or phone." I said online and she said it wouldn't be ready until 6:45. I let her know it was actually already 6:50, and she said it'd be at least another 10 minutes or so. I sat down at the bar, and called my boyfriend (who was in the car) to come inside and wait. Right as we ordered a drink, they realized the pizza had been ready this entire time. No apologies were made by the staff and we had to pay for drinks we didn't really want in the first place. I get that people have bad days, but it seemed completely disorganized and the restaurant was barely half full. Disappointing. read more

I have always loved Mellow Mushroom. I used to frequent the one near Grady High School in Atlanta, GA ALL the time. They STILL have the best pizza cooks! The pizza here isnt bad, I just think that it could be improved a bit. read more

Live music on Saturdays but gets very crowded. Bar has a huge selection on tap but is very slow due to crowd and one bartender. Pizza and calzones are wonderful and made with whole wheat crust. read more

have been now 4 different times pizza is good but their service is terrible 1st time was for lunch nice server order two slice took approx 20 min to get slices. 2nd time was a too go order small 2 topping pizza took 30-40 min to get my order. 3rd time was lunch again service better but had servers standing around bad mouthing other employees and supervisor not very nice to here. 4 and last time a too go order again wait 1 hour got up and left told server/bar tender could not wait any longer as i was leaving server/bar tender came out the door and cal to me i have your order it was ready i don,t know way they did not bring it out . told her to keep it. Food is always good here. They have a decent selection of beer. Usually the service is pretty slow and the cost is a little high. However the high quality ingredients helps with that. read more

We stopped in here for a quick dinner on the road, wowed by the free appetizer ad on yelp. We had the pretzel, and it was great -- service was good, the manager came by to visit, which we saw him do to every table which was very nice. Excellent food the whole way around. Everything was fresh and seasoned well. My biggest pet peeve , the bathroom, was spotless and no complaints there. Our waiter was polite and attentive and hit the refills right when needed. Great spot. read more

Tonight when visiting I was disappointed from the start when meeting family to dine here with their 85 health code score. After closer inspection of the rating it was due to things involving proper temperature of food (hello food poisoning possibility) and other not so minor things in my eyes. On this occasion the men's bathroom also did not have any functioning sinks. Gross! It didn't help that the staff was not concerned about the sinks because the parts have been ordered and it should be fixed in a couple days. Additionally was disappointed when our pizza order was incorrect (it happens) but just another fail on top of all of it. Eat here if you aren't concerned that male patrons and probably many of the male employees aren't washing their hands and you aren't concerned with health code violations. read more

Food was very good. Spicy specialty pizza was awesome. Facility is nice clean bathrooms. Servers after 2 times in 3 weeks seem to get lost after they serve you food. Waiting a very long time for refill (no ice ) and the check. Price is good but the waiting is no fun. I was surprised how stale and no frills the atmosphere is. The locations in Atlanta are wonderfully quirky and kid friendly. This feels like a business meeting. The pizza was as good as other locations. read more

I couldn't get enough of this place when I lived in the Macon area. The beer selection (you can become a beer club member with fantastic rewards) was outstanding. If a full size pizza is too much, request the personal size. Staff is a bit eccentric but that's the way I like it. read more

Went there for kick off NFL Football and was disappointed. Food was OK. They had a guy yelling into the microphone playing a dumb trivia game that only two tables were playing. They killed the whole Football viewing experience, so we left at half time for another venue. The place was dead and they started cleaning up to an empty restaurant. My husband and I go to Mellow Mushroom all the time. The service and quality of food is consistent. In fact, I don't think we've ever had a bad meal here. I highly recommend the pizzas (they have the best crust) but you really can't go wrong with the salad or the sandwiches either. read more

I was just introduced to Mellow Mushroom and was really impressed with the pizza it was hard to choose! I ended up with the white cheese pizza and was delighted with the fresh taste and a great crust. I went with a good friend and we both enjoyed the cold beer ( a bit costly) and the friendly waitstaff. I will look for a Mellow Mushroom in Greensboro, NC and take my friends. read more

I visited this restaurant about a month ago & had a really good experience!!! The Manager was visiting tables to make sure everything was OK & the food was excellent.
