We have a Mellow Mushroom in our hometown, but we rarely visit it simply because of location and parking. We trust the brand, so when we are traveling and need something we know everyone in our party will like, Mellow Mushroom hits the spot. This particular Mellow Mushroom has the ABSOLUTE FRIENDLIEST STAFF of any place we ate while on our spring break trip. From the host to the server to the manager to the person cleaning up, everyone was so kind. They were active listeners, they asked us great questions, and they made sure we had what we needed and wanted without hounding us. The attitude of the staff impressed everyone in our group. Again, the FRIENDLIEST staff we encountered while visiting the Atlanta area. The atmosphere is fun. There is plenty of seating indoors and out as well as an easy-to-navigate parking lot. The menu is primarily pizzas and similar fare. Our group ordered 2 salads and the house special pizza. Everything was fresh and delicious! Just experienced the worst service every. How can a manager tell me that he can't promise quality pizza every time. For almost a month I kept getting emails that they were now on DoorDash, so I was very disappointed when I called to find out why I couldn't find the location on the app and was told this location doesn't have delivery. We decided at the last minute to throw a going away party for someone leaving our office and this was the obvious choice since its less than 5 mins from the job and everyone enjoys good pizza. We spent $109 on three large pizzas and a catering salad The pizza was good and the i highly recommend the Signature Esperanza dressing for the Greek salad. Pick up was quick and our food was ready when we got to the restaurant. Sure we could have gotten 3 pizzas and a salad from someplace for less than $130 with tip, and probably with delivery also but overall, everyone just enjoys Mellow Mushroom pizza. read more

The food is great at this Mellow Mushroom, but the service is not good. I don't remember our servers name but she seemed to be the only one working. When you check in on yelp, you get a free pretzel bites with a pizza purchase. This saves you $7, which is a great deal. The pretzel bites took about 20 minutes, and another party that came in after us ordered pretzel bites and got theirs first. Very unfair. The pizza took another 30 minutes, and our server rarely came to the table to ask for refills. When ordering beers, we saw them sitting at the bar for 30 minutes and eventually I went up and got them myself because the waitress was extremely slow. Then, when we got the check she forgot to ring up the free pretzel bites. I am not paying $7 for a small plate of them. It's hard to go wrong with Mellow Mushroom pizza. I was first introduced to this chain in college at the Midtown Promenade location. That location is close to where I live. This location on Powers Ferry and Windy Hill is close to where I work. My coworkers enjoy coming here and often times choose Mellow Mushroom when they want good pizza. Blue Moon is another good pizza option on Windy Hill, but they're smaller and usually packed at lunchtime, so you have to wait. A useful thing most customers don't know about this Mellow Mushroom is that when they get busy, you don't have to stand in the normal ordering line. You can also place your order at the bar. It doesn't really matter where you place your order since you take a number to set at your table and your order is brought out to you. Drinks at Mellow Mushroom are self-serve out of the fountain machines and you get silverware, straws, napkins, etc. yourself. There are a handful of TVs here, so it is a sports viewing option. They also have an outdoor patio which is where my coworkers and I usually sit when the weather is nice. Mellow Mushroom has several different types of specialty pizzas to choose from, both in thin and thick crust. You can build your own pizza from their wide variety of sauces, cheeses, and toppings. Some of the more unique ones include BBQ sauce, artichoke hearts, Roma tomatoes, Daiya vegan cheese, BBQ and jerk tofu, and tempeh soy. The pizzas come in three sizes (10-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch) and pizza by the slice is available at lunchtime. Mellow Mushroom is also known for their hoagies which are pretty decent. My favorite is the avocado hoagie that comes with Provolone, onions, avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and sprouts. I love the sprouts. Another good hoagie is the steak and cheese, which I had on my last visit. This hoagie is stuffed with grilled steak, onions, green bell pepper, mushrooms, melted Provolone, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. You can get a half (6") or whole (12") hoagie on French bread or wheat. A half hoagie is plenty for lunch, but if you're hungry, go ahead and get the whole 12 inches. All of the servers here are friendly and cool. The restaurant chain was founded in 1974 by two Georgia Tech roommates. There are now over 100 locations nationwide. These stars are only for the pizza.... First time here. The host was a good looking kid and very personable and that's where it ended. We sat down and our waitress Emma came over and she needs training in being personable and engaging. She gave us our menu and was ready to bolt! We told her it was our first time and she ok and walked off. She came back for our drink menu and I made a comment that there was alcohol and nothing...she didn't suggest anything. We had to ask her if there were specials, what was good, what appetizers she'd recommend...OMGoodness! Is there a secret to getting her to open up? Warm greeting? Nope Drink suggestion? We hear a guy at the bar say he'd been waiting 40 minutes for his pizza! 40 minutes in an empty restaurant. There may have been four tables with guests. That's it. The guy behind the bar told him he had to put in something in the computer and it wasn't his area. All he had to do was go check for the guy. So the client walks outside and now there are three guys behind the bar and your guy Cam says, "Poor cry baby....FUCK you!" Now, I'm sitting in the corner where the Brazilian Jiu Jitzu gym is and I hear it way over there. There was another customer at the bar who also heard this. How incredibly unprofessional! We complained to Emma but learned that management isn't the best here at the Marietta store. When I hit any Mellow Shroom I usually love the House Pizza, but since my companion doesn't I always have to settle for one of their veggie meatless options like the Magical Mystery Tour.
