I love the MM! We've been a couple of times, after CRBI events (paddling the area rivers makes you extremely hungry!) First time We just got a simple pizza which was quite good.... The second tine, we ordered and half and half pizza (half meatlovers half Mediterranean)an order of the cheese bread and an order of meatballs. It was AMAZINGLY good. If there is one thing synonymous about the Mellow Mushroom brand it is typically the service. We know Mellow Mushroom has mastered the pizza well. While passing through Rome I decided to stop at this location. I was alone so I pulled up a seat at the bar. When I arrived there were probably only 5 people at the bar eating. I waited probably 3-4 minutes watching the staff pass by before a manager finally greeted me. I've never sat at a bar and felt like an after-thought. "Did you want to order food"? "Oh, do you need a menu?". I wanted to say "no, I'm just going to sit here alone & visit". Eventually someone took my order then shortly returned and said "What was it again?... cheese & what?" I'm all about small town & being flexible but this location really lacked service. My drink sat empty most of dinner and the question was "What were you drinking?" , "Did you want more?". As always the pizza was delicious. It felt like an eternity to get the check. read more

The service was really bad. The waitress was inattentive, paying far more attention to the guys at the bar than to those of us seated and it's not like it was busy. Our pizza sat ready to be delivered for almost 10 minutes before someone else brought it to us. It was lukewarm. I have been to Mellow Mushroom locations in several states. There is no place I'd prefer more than the one on Broad Street in Rome Georgia! Not only is there a fun atmosphere with great food and drinks, but there is compassion as I have experienced two different traumatic life events in the last year for which employees at this restaurant showed empathy and caring in remarkable ways. I was ejected from this Mellow Mushroom Saturday. Yes, I was given the boot. I don't blame Mellow Mushroom for this though. We are still cool. I blame my friends who are obnoxious Florida fans. They just don't have a lot of class. I started out with a couple of Oktoberfests, which were on special. This was especially exciting given the fact that it's a gameday Saturday. True to style, the Florida fans went with pitchers of PBR. Feeling the need to soak up some booze, I ordered my go-to at mellow: the mighty meaty with white sauce (do it!). I know that it's a chain, but this pie always comes out delicious. Never had a bad one. As the game progressed and the pitchers were drained we got a little rowdier than the rest of the crowd. Apparently rough language is frowned upon at this establishment, which is funny because I've never considered this to be a family restaurant. So without warning, my friends were asked to leave because there were families around. My advice would be for families to not sit in bars on Saturday afternoons in football season. Or maybe just eat outside. In all seriousness though, Mellow Mushroom is a welcome addition to DT Rome. I can comfortably say that they are serving the best pizza and salads in Rome. Broad Street has a lot of turnover, and I think Mellow - unlike Johnny's across the street- has the potential to be here for a long time. I would advise the management to get their shit together though. You have two liberal arts colleges in town, which has always been a part of mellow's market. Kicking people out of restaurants is a bad way to keep that demographic. read more

Your typical Mellow, but with great staff! Pizza is delicious, as is the salad. The prices are a little high, but that's to be expected at all Mellows. I've been 4-5 times and I have found the waiters and waitresses to be fantastic and extremely on top of things (the hosts/hostesses could be a little more friendly and helpful as sometimes we stand there awkwardly waiting for a few minutes when we come in as they huff and bustle around to get menus and finish stacking silverware). Overall, I would recommend if you have a craving for pizza. read more

One of my friends had never been to a Mellow Mushroom, so we decided to go to the new location in Rome for lunch one day. Unfortunately, the restaurant is on Broad Street, and the parking is terrible. We had to park a few blocks away, which wouldn't have been so bad had it not been cold and rainy. When we arrived, the hostess led us to the booth shaped like a red punchbug. There were three of us, and we lhonestly ooked kind of ridiculous squeezed into that booth. A mother and her two kids kept eyeing us jealously. In fact, I felt like all the children in the restaurant were envious. For our appetizer, we ordered the spinach artichoke dip, which came with toasted bread. It was pretty good, but I wasn't thrilled with the timing of the service. Our appetizer came out literally 2 minutes prior to our pizza. Speaking of the pizza, I really enjoyed what we ordered: a medium with pepperoni, spinach, onions, fresh garlic, and mushrooms. The crust was wheat, though, and I don't remember the server asking us what kind of crust we wanted. At the other locations I've visited, I've always been given an option. Anyway, the crust was still really good, buttery and sprinkled with parmesan. For dessert, two of us shared a psychedelic brownie. It was good, but we expected it to be a little larger. My friend said our pizza might have been the best she ever had. I wouldn't go that far, but I did enjoy my meal. Next time I'll definitely want to park my seat at a more comfortable booth. read more

Hippity-do-da... I knew this was a chain, I didn't know it was this big. Normally I try to avoid chain restaurants (fast food doesn't count) but this is one I can't avoid. The pizza is great. And the beer menu, I mean c'mon...awesome beers. Although it is a chain you will find the menu a little different at each location with their own, local items (like the white rabbit pizza, which is delicious). So stop on in, grab a chair and a pie, and sip down a pint or two (or more if you're in the club). read more

Ricky Bobby may say the same thing about Mellow Mushroom as he says about BIG RED... and you can just think that to yourself now. I haven't eaten INSIDE this location, although I am disappointed in the lack of trippy art. That's my favorite thing about the Mel-Mo. Unfortunately, Broad street must be having a pizza brawl because not only is there a non-chain pizzeria, but there's a Johnny's AND we just got the Mellow Mushroom. Poor Johnny's. They also have great pizza and are inconveniently located across the road. But back to the Mel-Mo, great pizza. I might have gorged myself just now with the house special. I have to agree with most of the reviews. This is the best Mellow Mush out there. I have frequented the yummy Chattanooga and Kennesaw locations, but Rome has really beat out the rest. I'm not sure if it's the cozy little location on Broad Street or the wild-yet-adorable waitstaff, but it has such a charm! Not to mention, the food is delicious--and beautiful. Since when do I get bruschetta that looks like a masterpiece? And, holy hell, they catered to my dairy allergy by offering me vegan cheese on my pizza (that was awesome)! Generally, I like to visit an establishment a few times before I give it a review. In the case of Mellow Mushroom, I was waiting until I actually tried the pizza. I've enjoyed their cinnamon/honey pretzel appetizer (absolutely delicious, and it has the calorie count/fat content to prove it!) and their Brutus salad (which, as far as I can tell, is the healthiest option on the menu) a few times, and finally bit into a piece of the House Special pizza a few nights ago. The verdict? It's good. However, as with the salads, subs, and other things on their menu, Mellow's a little overpriced for what it is. The Brutus salad is big and full of goodies like jerk chicken and sliced portabella mushrooms. Paired with their esperanza dressing, it's truly a filling, scrumptious dinner. However, I'm not sure that it's $11.95 worth of delicious. It's still a salad that most people will have no trouble eating in one meal. Their crust is good and their toppings are fresh, but I don't know that they're worth the price tag, either. Service has been friendly but slow - in fairness, that could be a kitchen issue - and I'm sure I'll keep going back, though it isn't someplace I'd really rave about. read more

This Mel-Mo is a clear winner on Broad. It's two-storied, usually packed, and offers selections to us Romans that aren't found at the other two pizzerias on Broad Street. Service has yet to disappoint and the beer and pizza selections are simply outstanding. My man especially loves trying the different beer blends on tap and has always been over the moon about them, especially the Dirty Hippie and the Holy Rabbit. He loves being able to get a Guinness with his meal and any time we can do that outside of a bar, he loves it. This has been one of our best dining experiences on Broad with a fun atmosphere, great service, and fresh-baked awesome pizza. We order Hawaiian and the House Special with salads and even my siblings love it. Who can resist a good slice? I know that parking is a little wild on Broad but if you go around the back of the building, there is plenty of private parking! (Just a little Roman tip!) read more

It's a little louder than I like due to how busy it is, but their pizza is awesome... love the Mediterranean and other white pizzas, plus they have an awesome list of draft beers. Wow, this is some of my favorite pizza. This location is just like the others, which I think are all excellent. Beer, salad, pizza, and some friendly service is what I get here. This is a kid-friendly place, too. I recommend the Lil Tossed Salad to start, with their house-specialty Esperanza dressing. The soft pretzel appetizer is great, too. For the main deal, get a big pizza. I really like MM's sauce and dough, so a one- or two-topping pizza is what I recommend for the pizza-purist. But if you're into a big, mixed, pile of toppings, go for it. I'm not a pizza snob; there is no wrong way to go here. read more

We love Mellow Mushroom the restaurant as a whole; fantastic pizza, good selection of beer and friendly, attentive service. Today was the exception. The pizza was great (the kitchen KNOCKED it out), we totally got an awesome pizza. The beer selection was average, a disappointment considering all previous other MM visits were a buffet selection of various mouth watering local and imported brews. I made do with the never fails Oktoberfest. It worked. ;) But the service was bad, really bad. Without saying I would only suggest if you patronize Rome Mellow Mushroon just take a minute away from you conversation, perhaps the overhead TVs or even your cell phones and pay attention to what you are going to TIP for. Slow service, mediocre food, and absolutely FILTHY environment (especially the bathroom). We have enjoyed eating at various Mellow Mushroom restaurants in, but this one does not resemble the others. We waited 15 minutes to order, 35 minuets for food to arrive, without our granddaughter,s meal. Took another 8 minutes to get her Mac and cheese. Waitress gave multiple excuses, made no apologies, and generally seemed interested. If I'd seen the bathroom before ordering, I would probably have walked out. It surely has not been cleaned in days...or longer. Feces on the toilet seat, grime and stains all over sinks and faucets, and no paper towels for drying hands. I opted for my personal hand sanitizer rather than touch the sink or faucet. Please go someplace else...lots of choices in Rome. I wish had chosen better. read more

Great place to go with friends or family! Watch a game or simply sit and relax with friends, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff, friendly. Nice selections on the drink and food menu. Fresh food and tasty too! Out of the several times I've gone to the Mellow Mushroom only once did I have a problem and it was with a take-out order. I addressed the issue with the manager and he promptly fixed the problem. Great job M.M! read more

Will say upfront, downtown parking can be a little dicey anywhere. So we get there and there's a lot right behind the restaurant. Awesome. They charge a buck an hour. No problem, very reasonable. ....15 minutes later we are still standing in line with ten other people trying to figure out how to work the single self park parking machine (not individual meters). Finally at least three groups including us moved our cars to other lots because we weren't able to pay the machine a buck for parking and didn't want to risk getting ticketed or towed. Complained to the restaurant mgr. She smiled, was polite ..and blew it off with a "yeah everyone complains about that and the city won't do anything about it." The food and service was ok. If they don't care enough to fix their parking problem we won't be back. read more

My children and I went to Mellow Mushroom on June 20, 2011 and quite frankly did not enjoy the service. The food was great but the customer service was awful. As we entered the rest. We hoped to sit somewhere in the front but that didn't happen, the places we did want to sit were already taken by other patrons or by the food and drinks that was left by the other customers. Therefore we went upstairs and was told that it was closed understandable. Yet, we took a booth downstairs a little to the back since all the tables that could have been free still had scraps on them. We ordered our food by the waitress who did not have a kids menu for my 5 year old son yet recited the menu off her head..which was cool. but my son was really looking forward to the crayon and makeshift kids menu he could write on. anyway. as our food arrived it looked great except i like hoagies because of the sprouts and there were none on mine...so the waitress had to go get some which made the sandwich taste a little different since the sprouts wasn't warmed. Well as we start to eat our food the crew then decides that its clean up time. We have dirty dishes coming past our table, mops and brooms, and of all things the lady has the nerve to drag carpets past our table now i do understand the timing could have been a little better i mean we did get there at 9:30pm on a monday night. but still where is the respect of eating a nice quality dinner with out all the dirtiness coming past. Although the food was good, we lost our appetites when she drags this carpet past our table with dirt flying everywhere. Who does that......and where was management...to busy talking to the ladies to see this going on....im sure management is suppose to have a customer friendly attitude but i did not see it that night. I wont come back. I'd rather drive to the mellow mushroom on peachtree road in atlanta and be treated with more respect than this establishment. :( read more

Dining at Mellow Mushroom is always a great experience. The staff is always extremely friendly and are extremely good at remembering your order. The atmosphere of the restaurant, as it is with most Mellow Mushrooms I've been to, is always a pleasant acid trip. There is always a pleasant and friendly ambiance. The food, as well, has yet to disappoint me. I have never had a recallable bad meal at this specific joint. In my personal experience, and after visiting this restaurant many times, I can confidently say that my food has always been what I had ordered and has always been delectable. Among other places, this is a rather popular spot among my clique. I highly recommend dining at this Mellow Mushroom location. read more

OK so I eat here occasionally typically it's on a Sunday afternoon. The only reason I really eat here is because for the rare occasion that I'm craving pizza and I don't want to go an hour away so mellow mushroom is pretty much my only option which kind of sucks. I always get the Meloteranian or that magical mystery tour and add chicken. The chicken is like rubber. I mean come on can't you just have some decent chicken that's fresh and juicy maybe pulled but square chunks of frozen thawed rubbery chicken is crap. The chicken wings are really good because they're crunchy on the outside and then doused in the sauce which is awesome however all of the wings that we ordered the last time we were there, which were flats were all broken, and that's gross. I hope that they step it up just a little bit, some real nice good tasting chicken, And wings that are not broken would be great. read more

You will find people wanting to chat about the game over one of Mellows many, many beers on tap.
