I have been here a couple of times and this was the first time that I seen a dj playing music..I really enjoyed the music and the atmosphere was definitely cosmic. I tested my daughter to dinner tonight and it was a very enjoyable evening. She had the BBQ chicken pizza and I had the Veggie Calzone. The calzone had more cheese than veggie so it was a very hearty meal. We also had the muffeletta cheese bread as an appetizer, and I was disappointed. During the time of Coronavirus Most people do not want to go out to eat, if they do go out the best option is eating on the patio. While my family and I were willing to venture out to eat at this location we were told that the outside patio was closed. We saw several other customers eating outside. We were told that they were changing the rocks so we were not allowed to eat there. Bad timing mellow mushroom bad timing it was lunch time prime time for people to come in. First time here. Will probably be better elsewhere. Food was alright. Several unique concoctions. Service was a little off.. nothing major, lots of people prepping, handling, and delivering food. All wearing gloves, most wearing hats, none wearing hair nets. Might explain the extra stringy topping on my pizza. Waitress offered to have it remaid, I declined. Ordered a sandwich also. Q word of advice, spell out very clearly w h i t e bread if that is what you want. Simply ordering white, turned into wheat. Realistically, we had been traveling all day and just did not want to wait any longer for food. Pretzel bites with the beer cheese dip was really good. So I love Mellow Mushroom. But in recent months they have been picking on me. Twice I have ordered food to go. One order my pizza was over cooked. The second time the entire pizza had more mushrooms than chicken on it and I asked for no mushrooms. Then my niece and I ate in. What a disaster. Her pizza was burned, her not spicy please wings came out spicy as hell and to top it all off, my salad, that I had eaten half way through had a bug in it. The manager came over and took the salad off my ticket....So you mean to tell me that with all the issues we have had, none of which were our fault, you as a manager only see it fit to take off a salad? So she explained to me that they try to make sure that their salads don't have any bugs in them as they clean the salads before plating them. Okay so I have a garden heifer I know all about bugs and worms and pesticides too. But that still is no excuse for why your staff missed a step or two becasue there lay a dead ass fly in my salad. One of the first "cool" restaurants I ever went to was Mellow Mushroom in Auburn, Alabama. Man...good beer, packed restaurant, yummy food and a great atmosphere. When I heard that MM was coming to McDonough I was skeptical, but hopeful at the same time. Well my skepticism proved to be true. Terrible service by recent high school grads (or drop outs), marginal food and instead of a bunch of culture and flavor hanging out there, it's just your average fat ass suburban family. in fact the whole experience is about as fun as going to McDonalds. Pretty fed up with this mellow mushroom. the service is always nice, However communication with the staff and management team sucks. I don't think I will be returning. The last 4 visits to this location some how managed to get worse with each visit. Every one of our orders comes out wrong, each. and. every. time. Do they not understand their own menu, or how to cook a pizza correctly with out it coming out raw? I've now had to specify to cook things well done because it never ends up being cooked thoroughly. If you ask for extra toppings you end up getting regular toppings and charged for them regardless. The manager never checks by the tables either. Just terrible customer service. I think you either like Mellow Mushroom's pizza or you don't. Personally, I like other places better, but they do make OK sandwiches. MM pizza seems to be a bit heavy on the bread and the toppings seem to be an afterthought. Maybe the service changes as the wind blows, but during my last three trips here the service has been shaky. Each of the last two times it took nearly 30 minutes to get the first round of drinks, even though the place always seems to be crawling with an abundance of servers. Average pizza, average service. Poor service at pickup counter. I waited over 5 minutes to be acknowledged. After a crowd gathered I was able to pay after about another 5 minute wait. I then had to wait approximately 5 more minutes to get my food. The food was cold and my order was wrong. It was a very busy night, but they should be better staffed. It appeared that only one person waits on the bar and serves drinks, collects money for pick-up orders, gets the food for the pick-up orders, and answers the phone. I'm mostly in here during lunch hours so the crowd is usually decent and the food seems to always come out with in 10 minutes of ordering. Normally when I go I stick with the same things... a slice of cheese or pepperoni, a salad (all of them are good) an order of mild wings which are actually hot and a coke... S/N:always tell them to cook the wings Well Done, if you don't then they will come out soggy and guey on the skin and not look completely cooked... so well done is perfect and how they really need to be... Overall the place is decent, the food is tasty, the service is good as well as the atmosphere, nice scenery if eating outdoors, and friendly servers. So no real major complaints, the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don't serve slices after 2pm, not always someone wants to purchase a whole pie u know, just want to grab a slice and go. And the one time I did purchase the whole pie I didn't enjoy it, it wasn't as good and didn't give off the same effect... and it was that one time I ordered a salad and most of the lettuce was rotten but other than that they have been pretty consistent. read more

We tried this place recently as we've never been. If you like beer...go here. They've got lots of great and different craft brews on tap. Sadly, we ordered take out though. The pizza we ordered was a house special and is a whole wheat germ dough that if you've never had it before, you might end up like me with a giant rock in your stomach. I was not ready for that at all. I eat wheat all the time and never have this problem. I talked to my friend and she said it does the same thing to her, very heavy on the stomach. So for not being allergic to wheat I was disappointed to say the least. Sure, you can order gluten free dough but I didn't even know that they made their pizza with wheat germ to begin with. My fault for not checking I guess. Aside from that, the toppings on the pizza tasted very fresh and were definitely high quality. The sauce was scarce, like most pizza today, they rarely put that much because they don't want a sog-meister but I could've used a little dipping sauce. The service was good as we only ordered take out so I can't comment on what others say about the in house service. All in all, I'd say if wheat germ dough doesn't bother you then you should give it a shot. Personally, it's not right for me so I won't be ordering it again. We went here last night with the wife for a quick bite to eat on the way home from work. We usually enjoy their outside seating area, which is pleasant in the springtime. I'm sure that we'll be back to sit outside and order up the House Special when it gets warmer. During our other previous visits to this Mellow Mushroom as well as several other locations in Atlanta and elsewhere, the service is usually nothing to complain about...until now. The minute you walk into any restaurant and there's no hostess in site, I've learned that you should go ahead and be worried. Our waiter was a talker....after holding conversations at every table in his section, he took forever to take our drink order, let alone deliver the drinks to our table. Usually when this happens, I'm ready to grab my stuff and leave without any regard (since they apparently don't have any for their customers...) After FINALLY taking the food order, the pizza came 30 minutes later. If it wasn't for MM's outrageously delicious pizza, I'd ditch this location & never come back. We ordered a red velvet cupcake for dessert. I'd totally recommend getting one if they have baked any of 'em. The waiter signed our pizza box with a personal note of his own: "Made with Love"........... As my wife dubbed this dining experience, "made love with my foot" truly fits the bill. read more

I've been here twice. The first time ordered a specialty calzone and they let me substitute the spinach for mushroom at no up charge. It was very good. The second was for a late dinner with the kids. It was the first time that I had been to this restaurant. I had a great experience. My servers name was Steven and he did a fantastic job. I asked him for suggestions and he gave me several and I eventually settled on the mighty meat. Before I describe the pizza I'll let me describe a little bit more about the atmosphere and ambience. There is a full-service bar so if you like or do not like that keep that in mind. The hostess seats you. The customer service was quite good; I was greeted several times by different members of the staff. The waiter Stephen was quite conscientious and when I asked him to mix the lemonade and the ice tea there was no problems. There was a slight weight but that was to be expected because they made it there. You could look in the back and see them spinning pizza dough in the air so you know it was fresh. This might be a detractor if you have children because sometimes children do not like to wait. Now let's get the pizza. There were a lot of options including gluten-free crust. I like meat so I got one woodlot some meat and I got the regular crust. The crust was thin, but not too thin and I had a great flavor. I would say the sauce was light so if you don't like a saucy pizza this would be a great choice for you but I had a good flavor. All the meat on the pizza and the cheese was done just right on the sausage had a little bit of a bite to it. There is a good possibility that I will take my wife here, because she likes mushrooms and it appears they have an amazing mushroom pizza. I'm a fan of the Mellow Mushroom. Note: they have free Wi-Fi and if you play Pokémon GO there are two pokey stops in the restaurant and what is neat. The worse experience ever. Young workers- hostess and servers were young which wouldn't be a problem but lack training. Chick-fil-A hires young staff and are 5x better trained. We actually saw one worker spot clean a table.. really just wiped the spots!! Lazy and lacking of training. Got one drink and couldn't get another after that. I waited then asked for a refill and still didn't get one. Plates were piling at our table and our server didn't pick them up to make room. Very sad. Management should want better for the price they charge. We spent over 100.00 and thought it a waste. We would have had better service at a fast food restaurant. I'm not even kidding. They forgot to bring my simple order of hummus and pita chips after even reminding them 3 times.( it actually took them 2 hours to bring me it, luckily I was there for a family members birthday and was there that long... It's a chain. The service was good. The drinks "at the bar" were stout. But the REAL gem is the fact that it's walking distance from discount tires. So if you'd rather have a buzz and some pizza, salad, or sandwiches versus smelling rubber over and over and being constantly reminded of how much hard earned money you are spending on your tires it's worth a trip. Discount gives you an accurate time for the return of your vehicle and I noticed that when I returned to retrieve my car several other patrons where there also. Went for a child bday gathering. This location is spacious and close to the expressway. There was live entertainment. Not sure what days they have this. The staff was very friendly. I feel bad that I didn't get the names of the people I dealt with so that I could mention them. The artist who was performing sang happy bday to the bday girl and it was absolutely awesome.
