Gelato and pizza stop! Located right next to Trevi Fountain- I mean righttt next to it. We accidentally stumbled upon Melograno after we took some pics of the fountain. They have two sides; one for pizza and the other for gelato. We visited both sides. The pizza was alright. Not the best but also not terrible. Very mediocre pizza. But if you are starving and need something in your stomach, this will do the trick. 7/10 The gelato was delicious! We got an Oreo flavored gelato and shared it. I wanted the big cone so I could eat it after lol The Oreo flavored gelato was rich and so good! Loved it. 10/10 Service was good. They are quick about it! Get you your food and dessert fast. Ambiance is very casual, there's some tables and chairs to sit down. But not a lot of tables. read more

Today was an extremely hot & humid day in Rome. We visited the Trevi Fountain and before leaving, we decided to grab some gelato to cool down from the heat. There were a bunch of different gelato spots in this area. Melograno is actually located next to 2 other gelato places + more but we decided to try Melograno today. LOTS of gelato flavors available here. I got a small cup with passionfruit & cheesecake, which had little chocolate chips in it. I really enjoyed the gelato from here. Very smooth & had great flavor. Excellent reasonably priced gelato next to Trevi Fountain with waffle cookie atop my 2 scoops: amazing banana and decadent chocolate. Yes, it is better in Italy! Just wish the scoops were bigger. The gelato is rather icy, and for the price, I'm sure you can find better. It's a nice place to stop by, as the location is right next to the Trevi Fountain, and the inside has AC. If you are looking at the Trevi Fountain, look to your left and you'll see Melograno. We were with a walking tour so we didn't want to stray away too far before having to meet up with everyone again. Our local guide pointed Melograno's out to us as one of our options. Upon stepping inside, it wasn't too crowded and they had so many different kinds of toppings on their pizzas! Different kinds of meats, and veggies! One pizza even had thinly sliced eggplant all over it. All local flavors, so you're not going to find any Hawaiian pizzas with pineapple on them. They are not heavy handed on the pizza sauce here and mostly let the toppings do all the talking. The crust was a medium thickness. Side Note: they also sell gelato here which we tried and then we went next door to the Gelato place on the corner and liked theirs much better. Even better, they have free, clean restrooms upstairs. Grab a slice and save enough to toss into the fountain, so you can ensure your return to Rome and do it all again, thus fulfilling the infinite send-return loop that I'm sure Stephen Hawking wrote about in one of his crazy space books. read more

When you only have a few minutes to have lunch on your own before having to rejoin your tour group, you find the nearest eatery and get moving. This place is right next to the trevi fountain and gets a LOT of tourist traffic. The pizza was underwhelming but again we didn't have much time to search. The gelato however, (like almost all Italian places we visited), was wonderful. The best was a combo of strawberry & banana. Other tastes included: melon and cherry. FOUR stars for the gelato. I'd skip the pizza if you have time to search for something else. It wasn't bad, but nothing spectacular. read more

I have eaten gelato every day in every city I have visited in Italy and this was definitely the best! Creamy.... not at all crystallized..... and with a deep and rich flavor. I had the Chocolate Orange and it was absolutely amazing!!!! The chocolate was dark and deep and decadent.... and balanced perfectly with a swirl of bitter sweet orange jam complete with grated orange peel. Not sure about their pizza or pastry selection, but I was able to get gelato that they verified to be gluten free on a gluten free cone! It was the first place I had been to with gluten free cones, so I'm giving them 4 stars for the alone. Also, the Nutella gelato was very good. read more

This place was recommended by our tour guide. The price was reasonable and the food taste okay. But the customer service was horrible. I found a hair on my second pizza and show it to them without making a scene. The girl was confused and didn't understand until I point out the hair. She said something in Italian to her co worker and the second girl took the pizza to the back of the kitchen. Th first girl said it cannot be her hair and then she said it might be my hair. That's when I was furious when she accused me for the hair. She dare to say no hair here when she point to all the pizza. I asked will I get a new slice and she was so reluctant to give. I told her "forget it" when she decide to replace the slice and took my stuff to leave. I am writing this as I am walking out of this place . Their customer service is horrible. They need to train those people to handle situation such as this and apologize instead of accusing people . I will give it a negative if I could . read more
