I'm not a frequent customer, but I've been here a handful of times and it's always been a great experience. As their neighbor, we were devastated to see the destruction and damage they suffered during May 2020 "protests", and are so happy they're back and open. We came here with a malfunctioning third-party owned laptop, which they provided diagnosis for, knowing in advance they won't get a penny for a repair (has to be done by the owner). All was done with a smile and a friendly attitude - much appreciated these days. read more

My laptop mysteriously stopped turning on a couple days ago, and after essentially being told by the Apple Store that I should take it somewhere else if I wanted to save the data, I brought it to Melrose Mac. They were able to run a diagnostic on it and somehow managed to work their magic to revive it without having to replace any parts. Apparently it had some liquid damage from a while ago that slowly started to cause corrosion. SO GRATEFUL to Josh and team for getting it up and running again for me without having it cost a fortune. The service was great and they genuinely take the time to explain the issue and any possible solutions. Will for sure be coming back here if I run into any computer troubles in the future. Pro tip: If you dropped your computer off for a diagnostic and you don't hear from them in the timeframe you were told -- call until you're able to get a hold of someone! It seems like they get pretty busy in there, and chances are your work has been completed. read more

This is a review of the company on the whole. They are a certified Apple dealer, which means they need tow the (Apple) company line. This isn't a review of the staff. The staff is friendly and most likely just doing what Apple tells them to do. I spilled a glass of water on my computer and it wouldn't turn on. They didn't even open it up. They just plugged it in said "Yep, doesn't work". Their options: I could get it refurbished for $800 or buy a new computer. I took to to New World Mac and for $240 my 2015 Macbook Air is working again like new. Andy even backed up my files for free. Don't waste your time and money here with repairs. read more

Macbook air wasn't turning on, I asked if it would be more cost effective to buy a new laptop instead of trying to fix a 4 year old laptop, they insisted it wasn't necessary. So I dropped it off with them for 2 weeks, paid them, brought it home and still wouldn't turn on. Brought it back they wiped my laptop completely and tried to sell me a back up drive (eventually they gave it to me for free since i already paid for a repair that didn't work) And now my laptop only works when connect to the charger. I wish i had just gone to the apple store instead of wasting money and over a month waiting for them to not fix my laptop. I know this sounds like a one star review but they have fixed my computers in the past without messing up this badly, so if you have lots and lots of free time go here lol. read more

Recently purchase 2 iMac's from the store. After about 30 days one of them stopped working completely. Apple support unable to help. Only solution is to physically bring the computer to the store. Manager didn't come to the phone. They talk about just casually bringing the computer into the store like we are not running a business and our time is not worth anything. Literally, "ain't nobody got time for that!" I might as well order direct through Apple or brave the waters at the Apple store. One day I woke up and my computer wouldn't turn on at all. Nothing I did worked. Went to apple right away. They advised that they needed to send it out but that my data would most likely be erased. Which I couldn't not allow to happen. I was referred to Melrose Mac. I was so stressed out. That was my entire life, Photos, Password keychain, Etc, Etc. They were able to extract my Data, But couldn't fix the problem. They sent it to Apple for me. Apple sent it back to them fixed but all data erased. They downloaded my data back to my computer. It was like my computer never changed or was wiped clean. Everything was exactly as it was. Win Win if you ask me. I also got my data on an external drive that I purchased with MelMac. So now I have an external drive so I can update regularly so this never happens again. Because lets be honest if this happens again I won't pay apple 600 to fix it. Ill just buy a new computer. Every person at Melrose Mac was a rockstar. Answering all my annoying questions and taking the time. Quality still exists with this company. Avoid, they'll try to rip you off. I talked to Apple Support over the phone about a minor issue - and they told me to go to any Genius Bar where they could boot up my computer from a USB stick, trash a file that was taking up too much space, and it'd be fixed within a minute. I made an appointment with Melrose Mac where they pretended they didn't have any bootable USB sticks/drives, and that I'd have check in my computer for 2 to 3 days of diagnostics, paying a hefty fee. When I called them on their rip-off, the gentleman I was talking to went to talk to his manager to see if they "could maybe find a bootable drive" (they are an official repairs shop!), but came back saying the manager insisted I'd pay for diagnostics. Which I didn't. I should have gone to the wonderful New World Mac in Silverlake right away instead of losing time on this place trying to scam me. I've learned my lesson. read more

My AirPod wasn't pairing with my IPHONE. Had to take it to an Apple Store. As it turns out, the air pod replacement that I was given by Melrose Mac wasn't compatible with the charging case. This is very frustrating as I had to spend approximately two hours in total at Melrose Mac between drop off and pick up. Furthermore, I had to spend an additional hour at the Apple Store fixing Melrose Mac's error. Please train staff to be more careful when issuing a replacement. Thanks. read more

I was also buying a monitor and keyboard and Brice advised me to purchase these products elsewhere as I needed basic models and the products they sold where beyond what I needed. Completely unprofessional. I called to check on the status of a repair 10 days after the device was submitted. They said they don't know when the device will be evaluated or serviced because they're having a "tech issue" and all was paused on the repair department's end. Yet, they "didn't have time" to update their existing clients because they were still accepting new repairs. How does that make sense? They then also said they don't know when they'll have an update for me. So basically SOL for an indefinite amount of time. Ridiculous. And overpriced for awful customer service. Would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I Just dealt with one of the customer services employees at the store who told me "you can choose to believe who you want to believe" - WOW! this after I told her that the other gentleman helping me told me something completely different about the product I wanted to buy from what she was telling me. Instead of her getting the other employee and both discussing it - I was very secondary to her. She had a horrible horrible attitude. I bought the product after I asked her to google something - why did I have to come up with a selling resolution. Its amazing the horrible horrible service you get these days. I called for help replacing the battery for my MacBook Pro and was super clear I could not be without my computer. The person on the phone was lovely and said they would help, as long as I paid a deposit for the battery when ordered. She said I could also stop by after their walk in hours to get started. I came into the store and a different person told me they needed 7-10 business days with my computer! I mentioned the call, which caused her to just speak slower to me to explain why they needed so much time--3 days to run a diagnostic?! The Apple store did it in 5 mins. Hard pass. read more

Don't let them tell you that they are the same as an Apple store. They are not. They take up to two or three days to diagnose the issue, and then take over a week to be able to fix it. I have never had to wait so long to deal with a minor issue on my computer. read more

After my iPhone 8 screen was "fixed" by MelroseMac Burbank this morning, I drove off and realized that the power button didn't work. Nobody apparently checked this before turning the phone over to me. So, I brought it back and the manager took it and went to the back. Someone comes out 15 minutes later and says they're going to replace the whole screen again. I came back later and the technician said that the power button still didn't work but the reason is because I dropped it too hard when the screen was cracked and the case had "micro fractures" on the case (which was pristine) that made the power button connection malfunction. Mind you, I babied this phone, it was pristine, when it did fall, it was from 2 1/2ft flat on the face onto a pebble, not traumatic. Plus, I had ZERO problems with the phone and power button before leaving it with them for a simple screen replacement. This technician tried to give me the phone to take home with a power button that didn't work. I asked to speak with the manager. 15 minutes later, he comes out and says that "the frame on the inside was bent" because of trauma from the fall. Not possible. First "micro fractures" then "the phone is bent." 5 1/2 hours after initially dropping the phone off, they put the OLD screen back on and I left with a broken power button and the touch ID pad doesn't work now either. It's getting fixed now at CPR cell phone repair, who said that the power button was probably broken when they replaced the screen. Next time, MelroseMac Burbank, if you break something during your service, fix it, rather than make up some BS about micro fractures and bent frames. :/ read more

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MELROSE MAC!! I got SO screwed there. I took my laptop in because it had a bad hard drive. They retrieved my data and sent the laptop to Apple because it was under warranty. Apple was going to send me a new laptop. I was told everything would take two weeks. This went on form 9/29/07 till 1/17/08. AND is still going on because....I had to contact Apple to send me the laptop because Apple said Melrose Mac wasn't responding to them. I went into Melrose Mac with my external Hard drive to retrieve my data. When I went home nothing was on it. I called and they said no problem just bring it back in. When I did they said that they forgot to back up my data on their server and they lost it all. They also said the external hard drive I brought back in wasn't the first one I brought in which was a lie because I only own one external hard drive and I have two different pieces of tape for the two times I brought in my hard drive! I asked to speak to a manager they said he wasn't in. I called a couple of times fianlly someone got back to me saying this was all my fault because I wasn't in communication with them. I have my phone records of all of the 22 phone calls I made to them over a 4 month period and their 4 phone calls back to me.. only in January of course* ON TOP OF THAT!!!!!......I asked for a refund. They said yes..then they said no unless I will sign a piece of paper stating that they are not liable for any of my data lost! ON TOP OF THAT!!!... Now the CEO called me and said they will not process anymore paperwork on this situation and that they will not return ANY funds at all!!! So please.....DO NOT GO TO MELROSE MAC! And yeah...you can bet Im not stopping here. read more

I've been to Melrose Mac several times over the past few years for laptop repairs. I always get attitude from the staff, but I assumed it was because I'm a girl and I look like I don't know about computers - which, granted, would be a horrible assumption for them to make, but I get the same thing in hardware stores, so I thought it was just me. Interesting to read on Yelp that they're snobby to everyone! Note to Melrose Mac staff: You work in a store. Despite being looked at with disdain by the staff and waiting 20 minutes or so while they settle an argument with another customer every time I went in, I had no problem with the repairs they did the first few times.... though it did usually take longer than they told me it would, and the prices were high. The last time I took my laptop in to have the hard drive replaced, when I got it home I found that the superdrive was no longer accepting discs. It was like something had gotten out of whack inside my computer. I went back to Melrose Mac, and they didn't believe I knew the difference between a hard drive and a superdrive. Once I finally got them to understand I thought maybe something accidentally happened to my superdrive WHILE they were replacing the hard drive - they basically told me to eff off. So I did, and I will not go back. read more

Let me save you some time and mula. My experience at Melrose Mac was not fruitful. Employees mixed up serial numbers, failed to mention hidden fees and were not able to help. In my frustration, I called 1800 MY APPLE and luckily was in touch with an Apple Pro who was immensely helpful. He told me that the Apple stores will give you a list of approved Apple Tech venues, but most of those venues overcharge and tack on hidden fees. He gave me three other options in my area code that would not charge any fees and would not charge beyond a certain price, even if there was further damage. Don't let companies drain you simply because you're desperate to fix the problem. A little research is worth it! read more

I have to agree with everyone on this place. I have been an Apple user since 1985 when at 14 I got my Apple ][e with two floppy drives and awesome green screen monitor. I work in creative so have logged tens of thousands of hours on the machines. I know Macs. These douche bags rolled their eyes at ME... and, frankly, they didn't really know what they were talking about. I think they just do a lot of eye rolling to justify screwing you on price and making you feel they know something you dont. Well, they dont. (NOTE TO STAFF: Adobe AfterEffects is not 'amateur level software') To top it off, their selection of software and accessories is sub par and overpriced. I think the only reason they are in business is they have contracts in place for production houses and studios in the Hollywood and Burbank areas. Shop at the Apple Store if you need something simple, or on-line if you are looking for something serious. This place is useless. read more

They fixed my computer, Max, an incorrigible PowerBook G4. So I named my computer. Bite me. So far, so good. I didn't like the fact that I paid an extra $85 to rush it, but it's my fault for procrastinating. I got in on a Friday evening, and by Monday 5:30 it was done. Hopefully, I won't need to return anytime soon, but I got some great tips from the staff about upcoming products, and upgrading vs purchasing a new system. Great experience with a not -so-great problem. And I called around. Their price was competitive to the other Mac fix-it shops that the Apple Store recommends. read more

Stay away from this joint. Apple has a flat-rate repair for all PowerBook/MacBook products as long as it is within five years of purchase/production (give and take a few months) for all 50 United States--as long as the computer has no water damage or physical damage. Instead of informing the customers all options available, they do the a la carte type of repair and charges twice or even three times of the $310 flat-rate Apple would have charged. Unknowing customers sometimes leave them their two-year-old Mac portable for 'recycling' as they buy a new one. I am sure no one in the right mind would leave their $2,500 (original purchase price) for recycling when they could have easily repaired it for $310. Buyer beware. These crooks have your wallet on their mind, not your financial interest and certainly not your computer. I would have given them MINUS stars if that options were available. read more
