    Veggie quesadilla
    Melanie K.

Very mediocre. Veggies in the veggie quesadilla and tostados were mostly uncooked carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. Barely any cheese in quesadilla. Tostados had a hair in it. No side dipping options that were not spicy. Poor customer service when asking for another dipping option. Would avoid nights they are at the brewery.

Food truck at whistle stop brewery! This food is amazing! Our pineapple fajitas came out in a pineapple!! The guacamole was served fresh in avocado shells...taste was amazing, fresh and spicy! Do not pass go- this place is on point!!

The food truck scene in Asheville continues to grow and amaze. I devoured some truly awesome tacos the other day at El Querubin II. The protein here (see pic) is huitlacoche, (pronounced wheat-la-KOH-cheh), also known as corn smut or Mexican Truffle. To be blunt, this is a fungus that grows on corn. And while I'll admit the description is a tad less than appetizing, this stuff has been treasured for centuries, all the way back to the Aztecs. I'm telling you peeps, it works. Grilled to perfection, then bolstered by pico, fresh lime, cilantro and a mildly pungent queso fresco, the huitlacoche provides an earthy depth of flavor and a satisfying mouthfeel. I'm not sure what's in that salsa, exactly, but it's stinkin' good. And my oh my, those warm, handmade corn tortillas are everything. You just couldn't get any more fresh. The corn and the corn smut are brought back together in a triumphant family reunion, singing a glorious harmonic refrain before being silenced by my very happy belly. El Querubin translates "The Cherub." Hey, no argument here.

Food Truck Time: El Querbin at Wedge Brewing Co. I really enjoyed the fish tacos from this food truck, they were the special of the day. I can't speak to the other menu items but a few others in our party liked what they ordered.

Hot dog special. They hid them under the veggies so I wouldn't see them when I got the plate. He said they add the hotdogs "just because".

Food was amazing and flavorful. The pineapple fajitas were out of this world. Will definitely find them again

Enchiladas were a little dry and flaky. Not much chicken on them. Maybe just a bad batch of tortillas and a stingy cook on the chicken?

The staff were very kind, I've never had pineapple fajitas before and I loved that it came in an actual pineapple.

The space is very nicely designed and laid out. Plenty of room in a cozy environment. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, on top of being very effective. I was extremely pleased to find that they even had a few different vegetarian proteins for their various dishes. In terms of the food, I went with a burrito bowl with vegan chorizo. The presentation was fantastic: my photo doesn't do it justice. It was also enormous. Much more food than I could finish, but also delicious. There were so many layers of flavors and textures that really came together in a cohesive dish. The best part is that they offer three different house made salsas, which really leveled up the dish and the experience. I would absolutely recommend checking this place out. The very hip, somewhat low key vibe was comfortable while also feeling high end well designed.

We both ordered the chicken Tinga tacos with rice and beans and I thought they were phenomenal, they weren't my husband's favorite, but I would definitely order again. Sadly, it is over an hour and a half drive if we want to return. Alberto, the owner, was very welcoming, along with his servers and bartender. That day, they had a Mariachi band, which was really cool, and the music was great for the ambiance of the place. Alberto told us about his other restaurant, and I would love to go check it out one day as well. We observed him closely as he was speaking to all the patrons like family and was very good at answering any questions. There's a salsa bar that is included in case anyone wants to try their house-made salsas. They start you off with fresh chips and the dip they have. It is honestly the best we have had so far, and my husband loves Mexican cuisine a lot. It's a mix of refried beans with cheese sauce and red sauce. I ordered the Camarones Zarandeados-- Peel-and-eat shrimp, marinated in house seasoning, and garnished with fresh cilantro. Served with rice and corn. Along with a strawberry daiquiri. It was truly a dish I would want to return to eat. The seasoned shrimp were juicy, and I loved peeling them myself and getting messy with the juices. II usually dislike most rice made in restaurants, but this was definitely delicious, and I'd happily eat it again. My husband had a creamy burrito with steak , peppers onions , and olla beans topped with cheese sauce and served with rice , lettuce, and tomatoes on the side. His drink was a Corona margarita. It was a huge portion, and he was full after eating 3/4 of the burrito. It is interesting he said it was his favorite to date as well. We both tried the birria tacos , and OMG, they were so yummy!! The sauce made for them was perfect, and the meat was actually seasoned well. I've had other ones, and well, let's just say they weren't my favorite. We also tried the "paleta" shot. It tasted just like tamarind. That was definitthe order of ely great and refreshing even as a shot. We ended with the Sopapilla for dessert. It was truly a lovely evening with my husband after an almost 2-hour drive to Asheville, and I am eager to go back for the great food and ambiance. If you want great-quality food with a definitely great price tag, go visit La Cabana Mexican Grill.
