I am the most sensitive, little girl when it comes to getting dental work done. I've had really bad dentists throughout my life that have caused me to be fairly terrified of the pain of needles/drills when getting work done. As someone with over 20 fillings completed by 5 different dentists, I can firmly say Dr. Gluskin is absolutely the most knowledgeable, patient and understanding. I basically was running away from the needle and he brought me down for the work to be completed. As I prepared for pain and literally grabbed the chair harder than Thor could have, he began what was the most PAINLESS experience at the Dentist in my life. The filling was among the largest 3 I've had filled of the 20 or so, and it was the most "pleasant". I was comfortably laying throughout the experience. To boot, the filling feels natural - not sure if other people have experienced that super smooth weird filling-feeling, but this filling feels "natural" and "jaded" as opposed to be slippery/smooth surface. Until I moved to NYC, I was a patient of Dr Gluskin's for literally my whole life. If you are old school, you were a patient when he was in Wakefield, MA. Yikes, I am dating myself. Anyways, Dr. G and his hygienist, Della are very good. They don't hammer you with unnecessary x-rays and dental work. They make you feel comfortable first, ask about the family (literally, my whole family goes to see this guy), then talks casually about your teeth and what may or may not need to be done. It is all done in a casual way to put you at ease, versus "doom and gloom" that often comes with a dentist visit. Dr. G will err on the side of caution, "let's wait and see, come back in a month" to see how things evolve versus going straight to the Novocaine and the drill. This way, even if you need work done, you know that it really needs to be done and you feel confident in Dr. G's course of action. read more

Dr. Gluskin and Della are the absolute best! My entire family has been treated by them, including 3 young kids, for years. Even though we moved farther away, we still drive in to see them. We know we are getting up-to-date preventive care and thoughtful decision- making about best ways to treat problems, no pressure. Dr Gluskin's office is very welcoming and friendly. He and the dental hygienist were both very nice and helpful with tooth care tips. If you'd like, you can even bring your own cd to your appointment. I've had x-rays, a cleaning, and fillings here and have been satisfied with all of it. read more

Recently I brought my cracked/broken tooth to Dr. Gluskin's office, seeking his opinion after receiving a horrible estimate for tons of dental services $$$$$ I didn't need from a 'big dog' dental office (I'd moved out of range from the Brookline office so was trying out a closer option to my home in Woburn). Within 10 minutes of our exam, Dr. Gluskin had figured out the perfect solution that took us only 1 hour in the same appointment and THOUSANDS of dollars less. I'm still so stunned! Since switching to him, I have had two bridges restored successfully and at a very fair price. Dr. Mel is gentle and compassionate. Good dentists and hygienists are not always easy to find. Honest, kind, gentle, caring, experienced, are only some of the ways I can describe my visits. I was extremely fearful of dental visits and had gone many years without going to a dentist or hygienist before I had no choice. I went to Dr. Gluskin and Della his hygienist, that was several years ago and have been going back ever since, my most recent visit reminded me that I look forward to the visits with them, not the dentistry of course but how pleasant they are and how they make it relaxing and pleasant. He lets you listen to your own music or has some very calming classical if you request it. Della is great too, always friendly and efficient. They are located right across from a C-line T-stop. For the past 18 years, Dr. Gluskin and Della have been my dynamic dental duo; they make going in for an appointment as much fun and relaxing as dental work can be. Della has a very light touch when cleaning; I've learned through long experience that it's fine to stay relaxed when she wheels in The Implements and sits down to work with a cheerful smile. You know the cleaning is happening but there's never been a painful poke that I can remember. Dr. Gluskin is the only dentist I know who was in a band once upon a time, so there's a lot to talk about, assuming you can have a sensible conversation without moving your tongue. When I needed a root canal 2 years ago, the person he recommended was the one I saw, and that referral worked out extremely well. Dr. Gluskin later put a crown on that tooth. In helping me to decide which direction to go, he explained the different options and likely costs, and left it up to me to decide what made more sense. If there was only one right answer from a dentist's perspective, I'd trust him to say what he thought, but otherwise I like the basic assumption that I have a role to play in the decision. Diane keeps everything organized at the front desk and mailed my gloves to my home after my last visit, when I left them on the couch. The only down-side is the peach-flavored fluoride mouthwash - go with raspberry. It's easy to get to on the C-Line (get off at the Tappan Street stop), and lots of parking in metered spaces along the subway tracks on Beacon Street. Highly recommended! read more
