*covid review* I just left my first visit today and could not be more impressed with the cleanliness, professionalism, and thoroughness of this dental practice. Everyone there was so kind and the dental associate who did my cleaning was so good at explaining every step before she proceeded. Her process was very meticulous. I'm used to other places really rushing through just to get it done but you could tell she was taking her time and making sure to give me a good clean. At the end she also went back to show me the right way to floss which I super appreciated because other places always tell you to floss but never really tell let alone show you how to do it correctly. At the beginning I believe she also was feeling around the neck area to check my lymph nodes which has never happened at any other place I've been. During the procedure they provided me with glasses to wear which was really nice because there's always water and gunk flying around during the cleaning and I would normally have to always keep my eyes closed. I've had my fair share of dentists throughout my life, but I can say without a doubt that Dr. Chen's high quality of care and personable customer service easily puts him at the top. I have never had a dentist take the time to walk through my x-ray with me--going through it tooth by tooth and explaining how he is thinking about and interpreting the image. It's great because he uses the x-ray to justify his clinical reasoning and reassures me that he not just trying to take money away from me. As a patient, I really appreciate that he is so thorough in explaining everything and involves me in the process. Dr. Chen is also very personable and so involved in your care. After my appointment, he PERSONALLY emailed me my x-rays and made notes of the teeth that I would need to get filled and teeth that I should take extra care of. He is super friendly, non-judgmental, and has genuine concern for his patients. His team is also equally accommodating and friendly. Everyone in the office was so nice, they were very accommodating to make my first appointment. They helped me with my insurance and continued to email me after to make sure it was set up correctly. The crown broke when I had last chocolate orange slice before calling it a night. I appreciated the billing transparency of C & C Dental when I talked to Eliane first thing in the morning. Luckily I got an appointment on Friday before the July 4th weekend. Still it was stressful because we tried to save up for renovations and for special assessments. I asked Dr Chen if I should have brought my porcelain tooth which split across on the neatly side. After a quick exam and test, he said Yes! Could you glue it back? Very possible, and then you don't need a new crown. What a relief! What an honest and practical dentist and I was totally blessed. He was very nice about waiting for the tooth too. I love Doctor Chen!! I get anxiety around dentists and getting work done and Dr. Chen was so nice about it. He's calm and funny and makes you feel 100% comfortable while also explaining what he's doing to you. He is so kind and is also very professional as is the entire staff. Dr. Chen is by far the nicest dentist I've ever met. The first step I took out of the elevator, he was already sitting at the front desk and greeted me by my name. The interior is modern and absolutely clean. The most impressive aspect of Dr. Chen is his level of personal care. I've never had a dentist show me xrays of my teeth and explain what cavities/healthy enamel look like. He also was able to show me with a live camera all the hidden nooks and crannies. Eliane, his assistant, was really gentle as well. Both are really patient and soft spoken health care professionals. If I were a kid, I'd be 100% comfortable in their presence. Dr. Chen makes it clear that he loves his patients to make their own decisions regarding their treatment. He doesn't push his patients to do anything. He is actually the first dentist to not ask me whether I want braces because I don't have impeccably straight teeth, which I appreciate. He completely understands that everyone's financial situation is different and lays out the pricing for various fillings at the end of your appointment. Dr. Chen is the best dentist I've ever seen. I have tons of anxiety about going to the dentist and going here was the most comfortable I've ever been. He is so nice and understanding about being anxious and also has a stress ball tooth called mr squishy that he offered me to hold (and I accepted lol). We recently transferred the dental care of our two kids and one of our parents to Dr. Chen, and we couldn't be happier. I was so happy to have found Dr Chen at C and C Dental in Brookline. Dr Chen is excellent very professional and knowledgeable he is very gentle and his work is perfect. He made and placed a new crown in less than 2 hours. I felt no pain and felt very comfortable. I also had my teeth cleaned by a very gentle and excellent hygienist. If you want personal attention and care, go to Dr. Chen. When I brought my baby to his office because I couldn't find childcare, he literally played with the baby while she was fussy and then his receptionist did the same while I was getting my exam. He takes tons of time with you and answers all your questions. He doesn't do unnecessary procedures and explains everything. This is a PERSONAL experience like none I have ever had at a medical office. Let me me give you another example: I sent his office an email asking for copies of my x-rays (since sadly I had to move away!), and in less than an hour Dr. Chen himself replied with copies of the x-rays and a personal note reminding me about which teeth we were watching for possible cavities and wishing me well in my new home. Let me start by saying I am afraid of going to the dentist usually. But I am not afraid to go to Dr. Chen. His calm demeanor and his overall niceness instantly put you to ease. He is caring and definitely wants to see you maintain healthy teeth and gums. He is also brilliant without being judgmental with all sorts of good tips on how to keep your mouth area healthy. I followed Dr Chen to his new practice and I am so glad that I did. This is the kind of dentist that you want to go to year after year and recommend to all your friends and family. Plus his new offices are fantastic and calming with great huge windows that let you see outside (though I am tired of seeing snow, it was still nice to be able to see the outside world in a dentist's office. I had to switch dentists due to an insurance change but am so glad I found Dr. Chen. His office is located conveniently in Brookline and was very clean and modern. Even the office music was very soothing, like I was in a spa. I've gone to see him twice now, for a routine check-up/cleaning and also to repair a tooth/get a filling. He was very gentle and kind, easy to talk to, and very meticulous with his work. I really dislike going to the dentist but it's comforting to know that he will take care of me with integrity and kindness. I sent my husband to see him too and my husband reported that he asked about us and remembered some of what I had shared with him. The outside of the building seems a little sketchy but once you go up to the 3rd floor to C and C dental you will see how beautiful the office is! Exceptional - I've worked in dental offices so I am critical. Dr. Chen and the hygienist Bonnie were great. They both took their time with me and were personable and kind and made sure I understood what they were doing and why at every step. Dr. Chen has a great sense of humor and I felt so comfortable. If you need a dentist, look no further! Seriously! About two years ago I moved to Boston and I put off finding a new dentist for a while. A few months ago I finally decided I couldn't wait any longer, knowing that I probably had some cavities. I looked around and did a LOT of research before choosing to set up an appointment at C and C Dental. I have had two dentist in the past, one was horrible and one was good. I was really scared to see a new dentist. From the moment I walked into the office, Dr. Chen and his assistant made me feel at ease! Polite, welcoming, and kind service. Dr. Chen started with an oral exam and x-rays. He was very thorough and clearly knowledgeable! He informed me of things I'd never known before, for example, I apparently have extra bones in my jaw! It isn't an issue, but literally none of my previous dentist or orthodontist had ever told me that. Kind of cool to know :) When the x-rays were done, Dr. Chen told me I had some cavities, as I suspected. He was not judgmental in anyways. He went over my x-rays with me and we went through my teeth one by one! He explained to me how to see a cavity on an exam and showed me all the spots that needed to have fillings, and the spots that we would need to watch. He answered every one of my questions with thoughtful and kind advice. He gave me a ton of advice on how to keep my teeth healthy including not brushing immediately after eating and using xylitol based gums. After asking about my diet habits, he explained that my preference to multiple smaller meals throughout the day was great for my overall health but was putting stress on my teeth! No one ever told me that either! He gave a bunch of suggestions on how to keep my mouth cavity free in the future and I left feeling poised to protect my teeth from further damage. He also submitted the proposed dental work to my insurance for me, and they sent me a quote for how much they would cover. This was INCREDIBLY helpful. I was amazed at how long Dr. Chen spent with me discussing everything. Most dentist I know spent 4 minutes with a patient before going on to the next one! This weekend I got my first few fillings down with Dr. Chen and I was super nervous. I hate dental work and getting fillings make me incredible anxious. Again, I was greeted with kind smiles when I walked into the office. Dr. Chen was friendly and encouraging, got me laughing and feeling more at ease before we started in on the procedure. He used a numbing gel before the administering the shot, and I didn't feel the needle AT ALL! No pressure or pinch. He took his time administering the shot and then gave it plenty of time to take effect before beginning to drill. I started to feel a little pain as he began drilling and Dr. Chen immediately stopped and gave me a second shot, and gave it another 5 minute before continuing. After that, I felt nothing! I had fillings in the past and my dentist just kept going as long as the pain was only mild. I am so thankful to Dr. Chen for putting my comfort first, even if it meant it took more time. I listened to a podcast during that hour in the chair and it was over before I knew it! Dr. Chen is clearly a perfectionist! He spent a long time smoothing the fillings and filing them down. There was one small spot on one of them that wasn't quite smooth and would get caught on a string of floss and he must have spent a full 5 minutes filing just this one spot till it was completely smooth! 48 hours later, my mouth feels great! The fillings are a little sensitive to hot and cold temperatures (completely normal with composite filling and it will go away in a few days). No pressure sensitivity like my last fillings. The only pain I had at all after the numbing wore off was a little on my gum where the injection was given. I still have a few more fillings to get done, but I am no longer as scared as I was because of the wonderful team at Dr. Chen's office. I am incredible grateful for their kindness and quality work. I can not stress enough how much this means to me. Having fillings is no fun, but with Dr. Chen as my dentist I feel confident that my teeth are in good hands. I am so glad to have found a dentist that will help me keep my teeth as healthy as possible going forward! read more
