The flavor was ok, could use a bit more seasoning, but the meat had the texture of rubber. We were there just before the lunch crowd and I would have expected better. Ok. I tried Memos again. The taco was improved. But I also got a 3 piece order of taquitos. Oh my gosh!....unbelievable! Not the fact that they were tasteless ,(frozen Delimex Taquitos, seriously tastes much better), not the fact that they had tasteless "?guacamole?" They were in all honesty the worse example of food NOT looking like its photo that I have EVER seen. But the most outrageous thing was they were placed in a Styrofoam rectangle container. and STOOD UPRIGHT in the "to go" sack. All the "guacamole" and pathetic cheese pieces were a sloppy mess at what was pooled at the bottom (side) of the container. It spilled out when I opened it of course. I would give 0 stars if I could. The food that me & my family received were all spicy when they weren't supposed to be. Even our churros were spicy. The taquitos we got had the same spicy flavor as the churros so I assume that it might be something they fried them in that translated the spicy flavor over. We brought the food back, got a new order of the same stuff, and it was all still spicy. Not to mention, the workers who addressed us were rude and reluctant to believe us when we brought back the original food and said that they should try it for themselves. So, this is the new place that just opened (use to be Chicago Willy's). We thought we would give it a try. I was very optimistic coming in, the prices looked very reasonable and the pictures on the menu looked appetizing. This was not the case however, when we received our food. My husband got the super nachos or something along those lines, which looked amazing! But didn't taste as it looked. I don't think he even ate half of it. He looked disgusted. I had a taco/tostada combo which was incredibly bland. I went to the salsa bar to try to add some flavor but holy moly, that salsa just about caught my tongue on fire! Beans and rice were fine, pretty hard to mess that up. The kid had cheese quesadilla, again- pretty hard to mess that up. I have given this place 3 Chances (because the first time I went I had a quesadilla & it was great!) I am done. I'll not be going back for anything. I've had the following & ONLY the quesadilla was good: quesadilla, shrimp taco, Carne asada fries, taquitos, asada torta. Yuck. Shrimp taco had shrimp (small ones) fajita style onions & peppers & Cheddar cheese. Wth?! Weird. The fries were cold & soggy. So bad! Taquitos were dry as hell. The torta was SO bad... The meat... Dry as a popcorn fart & so much fat/gristle, the bun was burnt (see photo) and they had no tomato... A spoonful of Pico was all. No cilantro. This may have been the worst thing I had there. So so so disappointing. And last but not least... The "salsa bar" hasn't ever had any Pico any time I went. Perplexing. Driving along looking for a place to get dinner and decided to go through Memo's drive thru. I ordered a chicken torta and a chicken burrito kid's combo, plus a side of rice. When I received my food, the rice wasn't in the bag so I had to wait for the cashier to come back to the window. The food was not great. The french fries were dry and disgusting. The kid's chicken burrito had literally nothing but chicken in it. That is not a burrito. The bread on the torta was so soggy it fell apart. This place is okay but I think they could do a better job at cooking or frying more. I've ordered carne asada fries and the fries looked and tasted like they were steamed. The carne asada felt gummy when I was chewing and that really made me mad. I don't recommend the carne asada fries here. Another thing that made me mad was the taco salad, the chicken was absolute horrible and was obviously not cooked well. Not only that but the taco shell was not really crunchy or anything like that, and it made it feel like I was eating bread with salad, which I do not like. The service is fast, but the quality isn't good, which makes sense if you order items like mine and they are done in under 5 minutes. If you want good quality Mexican food you should go to El rinconsito, or even better Los Cabos in Covington. They have the most amazing carne asada fries and they have the best taco salad! I went to Memo's back in June when I moved into the area and thought I give them a try. I tried the Chile Rellenos and they were ok given they were half of the price compared to other Mexican restaurants. About the fourth time that I went there and got the Chile Rellenos, I felt like I was going to be sick, my stomach was tearing me up. My roommate ate some also and she got sick from it. Since then, I went back twice cause I thought it might have been something else that I had eaten that day that upset my stomach. Anyhow, the food quality had gone totally downhill. When you open up the chile relleno, water comes out and tasted like it had just been thaw out, I took one bite and tossed the rest. Today, my roommate went back and got it again, neither of us ate more than one bite because there were nothing but water coming out with a tiny bit of cheese, they dont even bother to roast the peppers this time. The refried beans were the worst that I had ever tasted, totally bland. The "instant" rice tasted like it come from a box, no flavor whatsoever. I did a quick search and found this place on Yelp which is open 24/7. I was hesitant based on the mixed reviews but my experience was good! I got the steak and egg breakfast burrito and it was BOMB. My wait was a tad long for a drive thru so I can see it being quite a wait if there were more cars (I was the only one at the time), but in reality, it's not like they are making McD's food and I'm glad their food doesn't taste like it. First let me say that I am a very forgiving person.. I can forgive the lack of service (She literally just walked out of the back on her phone and when she finally graced us with her attention she just said "What do you want?" then proceeded to joke with the cooks rather than taking our order) or the attitude when I asked if the beef was shredded, but when I watched the cook throwing and snatching tortillas with his bare hands I was worried. I had eaten here before and the food was fine, so I ignored my better judgement and ordered. When I got my food, it wasn't the enchilada I ordered (still was ok with it) but the worst thing of all was the beef was partly cool. Not cold like it was refrigerated, but more like they took it off the 6'-tall mound I saw sitting on the grill so I got some hot and some room temp (which is totally not meeting with heath food standards). I am SO disappointed!! I used to LOVE this place! I recommended it to so many people and the food was always on point even if the service wasn't, but lately (as in the last 6 months) it has REALLY gone downhill to the point of my writing this review of tonight's experience. This place is complete trash. I watched them cook raw meat with already cooked meat on the grill.. the place is leaking from the roof in two different spots, the ceiling actually fell on my friends and we told the manager and they didn't say anything acted like nothing happened. I've lost all respect for this establishment. My friend got ecoli from eating here, and had major food poisoning to where he was puking for days. Also my friend left his wallet here and the management had it under the till and took all the money from it. There were drug addicts sleeping in the booths and cops came thru and didn't even do anything I'm losing respect for not only memos but auburn police department.. How can you eat at an restaurant where the roofing is all over the tables and it's dirtier than hell.. Where is the health department. I have pictures and multiple witness with proof of everything.
