Jason is awesome!!! We heard a rat in our wall and I just about had a nervous breakdown. We set traps and when we didn't catch anything in a few days, I started calling pest control companies. I was so freaked out I was almost willing to pay the $600 that the first company I called quoted me, but I'm so glad I kept enough common sense to get multiple quotes. Jason had the best rate and also patiently tried to explain to me what I would need to do if I wanted to trap it myself and save the money. I wussed out on that option and had him come to the house. It turned out that the rat must have eaten the poison we tossed in the wall and died before making it to the traps. But that meant there was more than one since we'd still heard noises. He walked around the house and found where they came in the house and told us how to fill it and gave us some more poison to put in the wall. He also told us what to get to make the dead rat smell go away more quickly. All this help and he didn't even charge us the full price for the visit! He said he couldn't charge us since we'd already killed one rat with poison - we were already doing what needed to be done so he couldn't take our money. After following his advice, we've heard no more sounds in the wall. Jason is knowledgeable, caring, and an old fashioned upstanding businessman. Not sure how I forgot to review MIB, but I had them out a year ago to check for some bed bugs I thought flew back with me from New York. Mr. MIB was AMAZING, showed up on time, and explained -- in detail -- every single thing he was doing. He treated my dog with respect (she has trust issues) and showed me how I can check for bugs on my own, what they look like (photos on his cell phone), and how to prevent common types of infestations. He didn't find any bugs, but he did a preventative spray "just in case." I love this guy, and he will be my "go-to bug expert" for many years to come. read more

i'm ashamed to say it, but like lots of other people in the city, we've had an issue with rats. jason came to our rescue at 10pm during a thunderstorm, set us up with traps, bait, determined where they were coming in through the condo, and told us all of the steps to safeguard and seal off the condo the best it could be. he then came back and rebaited our crawlspace and did another check for entrances in the daylight the following day. we had someone come and do a complete sealing of our crawlspace and jason came back one last time to make sure everything was kosher and there were no more rats. they came to the rescue when we were about to have a nervous rat breakdown and more importantly they helped us understand how to avoid the problem in the future. we've recommended them to our friends that have a amazingly bad rat problem in their garage and they're satisfied with the service they've received as well. they are def our go-to for any kind of pest problem now read more

I've been working with Men in Black for about 3 weeks now and I am very pleased. We recently moved into a new home and soon discovered that our neighbor has rats, which tried to make their way over to our backyard. Eek! I, of course, totally freaked out. Being new to Chicago and new to any sort of rat problem, I quickly looked online for exterminators and saw all the great reviews for Men in Black on yelp so thought I'd give them a try. I had the fortunate experience of speaking with Lauren, who quickly calmed me down, walked me through the problems, listened, and provided options. She was great -- friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. We discussed the fact that concreting the tree beds would be a permanent solution to ridding ourselves of the problem, but I hated the thought of having to compromise our trees so I scheduled a consultation and one of their specialists, Juan, came to the rescue! Juan was great! He scanned the perimeter of the house and investigated the neighbors yard, quickly tapping into the problem points and "hot" spots, and walked me through the solutions. He was very informative, thorough and understanding. He spent a lot of time, which was nice. I knew was in good hands. Based on my positive experience with Juan and helpful discussions with Lauren, I decided to proceed with their coming back for a treatment. Juan has since "dusted" the small holes we had found and also placed some bait/poison in other areas. I have to say, within days, we have not seen any sign of the rats! After covering the holes, they did not resurface. I feel that we're in a really good place and have things under control, which is a HUGE relief. Thanks, Juan! We are thrilled with the service and timeliness of Men In Black! Our condo building has a rat issue with rats burrowing around the building and using our side entrance as a rat highway. Juan was quick to assess the situation and dusted the rat holes to take care of the problem. We originally called Mob Mice but they charged over a hundred dollars just to put down some rat traps with bait and then wanted to charge us over $500 to put up barriers in between our building and the one next to us. I called and got a call right back. Very nice on the phone. I explained that I just moved into this house and there was a mouse problem after seeing droppings when getting the X-Mas tree out of the crawl space. When setting up the appointment, I was assured nobody would come to my house in a big van that has "BUG AND MOUSE GUY" on the side. He got here and set up traps and answered all of my questions. He then noticed my drop ceiling in the basement and then told me that mice love drop ceilings and that they are probably in my ceiling. He set up traps up there as well. He was here for two hours and I got a fair price. As I am writing this review, I can actually hear the mice in my ceiling. Unreal!! read more

Sooo after waking up with some weird itchy bites on my calf, I started reading online what could be causing them. Of course, I had myself convinced they were bedbugs. I shouldn't have jumped the gun seeing as I haven't stayed in a hotel or traveled anywhere in almost a year. But after finding a little reddish bug on my dogs neck, I went into full blown panic mode at around 640pm. I called several big name exterminator companies that could have people come out, but wouldn't be for at least 2 days. That was basically like waiting 3 weeks in my eyes. My husband got on the phone after looking up local companies and found men in black, gave them a call. After going back and forth with the receptionist trying to figure out a time that worked with our schedules, (the call was on speakerphone), we heard a mans voice in the background say, "are they home? I'll come out right now!" Oh my god, what a relief because I wasn't going to get any sleep until a professional assessed things at my house. So in walks Jason, who sensed my anxiety and immediately put me to ease and told me to calm down (My husband tried this and it didn't work). I thanked him for coming out on such short notice and he went to work, flipping over the mattress and box springs and headboards in the master bedroom where I saw the reddish bug. Of course I didn't save it so he could see it, but have him a description. He showed me pictures on his phone of bed bug infestations and of bed bugs themselves. After finding no evidence at all of bed bugs (thank you Jesus), we determined that my dog is a flea bag and what I found and was bit by was more than likely a flea and NOT a bed bug. Jason even recommended where to get a good flea dip for my dog. He was very knowledgeable about the differences of the bugs and answered all of my questions without the blink of an eye. After moving mattresses and furniture he then was ready to put the room back together, but I needed to vacuum and clean the dust but totally appreciated the offer. He told us that if we noticed anything different to call him and he would come back. After not finding anything and spending a significant amount of time at my house, I expected a hefty bill for coming out so soon and so late in the evening. But that is not what happened. Turns out Jason is the owner of the company and was able to charge what he wanted to charge. I was blown away by his professionalism and knowledge. It was really nice to not get ripped off, especially in a time of stress when I would have paid whatever to figure out the bug situation. All critters gone!! Over last summer we moved into a new house...there were large spiders that would come often, and to snack on them came the (also very large) centipedes every night. The house was immaculately cleaned prior to move in, and I tried varies over the counter products with no luck. I did some research and this company had competitive pricing and gave me comprehensive details on what they do. Within days of the serviceman coming, I would see collections of the critters outside (dead ofcourse). I would see a bug on occasion, but within a few weeks, and definitely within a few months...NONE. It's been 5 months & still not one!! From what i read, once the centipedes know there's no bugs to snack on, your house isn't a restaurant to visit. They offer discounts for touch ups or repeats I believe. When I originally scheduled a service, I was told that the tech will cover the perimeter of the house and all interiors but nothing beyond that. Men in Black Pest Control is by far the most effective pest control company out there. When you give them a job, they get it done- and they get it done right. For example, our house used to have fleas on it when we first bought it. Like, you would sit on the hardwood surface, and they would just pour out of the wood. It was probably the scariest thing my family and I have ever seen. Not knowing how to deal with the problem on our own, we decided to call up an exterminator. "But who?" we pondered. We asked around, and that's when we were recommended Men in Black Pest Control. And it was the best recommendation we could have ever been made. Our first call was super easy and very reassuring. We talked to a woman on the phone who told us that they had dealt with fleas before, and that they would be happy to do so again. We were given the amount it would cost (a bargain!) and a time the tech could come out and look at the problem. When the tech came out, he was a nice guy. He talked a lot, seemed confident in his abilities, and did the job he was supposed to. And since that day, we have never had fleas in our house ever again. I should've written this review when I had Jason come to my house two years ago to get rid of a wasp infestation in the wall of my old townhouse. He came out to me that evening. Sprayed where the jerks were building a nest. Warned me I may still see a bunch and if they don't go away to call back and have him come back out. He did come back out TWICE to resolve the issue of not getting them all at once! (Not his fault by any means. It was the wasps. They were aggressive and pretty deep in the wall) I just had a friend of mine ask what she could do for a bee issue she was having in a home she recently bought! I had a huge carpenter ant mound in my yard that I had been putting off getting taken care of. When I started seeing them in the house, I knew it was time to call a pro. I chose Men in Black because of their stellar Yelp score. Also I need to mention how great their communication is: When I work from the office, I don't always have the ability to make phone calls. So email or texting are my go to methods. Since Men in Black has the option to receive messages through Yelp, and because I was already on the site, I went ahead and tried it. The owner, Jason, replied back within minutes and even though I had lots of questions, he fired back answers right away. The fact that the owner was willing to communicate with me over Yelp and eager to answer all my questions impressed me so I went ahead and booked the appointment (also with Jason over Yelp messaging!). Jeff showed up in a black, discreet looking van wearing an equally discreet black uniform. For me this is a big deal. I really don't want the neighbors seeing a very obvious pest control van in the driveway. After some questions, Jeff got to work right away and did a very thorough job. Not only did he take care of the carpenter ant hill, he also sprayed inside including the entire crawlspace (which was an unexpected bonus). He even found some areas outside with ants I didn't even think to check. I was very impressed with the service! It's been months since Jeff was here, but I haven't seen a single ant in the house or anywhere around the yard where the ant hill used to be. Growing up, we've always used those lousy ant traps. I never thought to spray for them; I called MIB after a great reference. They have great customer service, and they do quality work better than a hundred of those stupid ant traps.
