We have a carpenter ants problem. MIB answered they phone promptly, politely and didn't use sales tactics like other firms to make us sign up for quarterly service with annual commitment. Alex was the technician came for the first visit. He was friendly and patience. He sprayed around the interior base board of the house and exterior of the house. He was trying to find the nest with no luck as there wasn't a trail. After a few days, we started to see dead ants in 2 main areas of our basement. Therefore we have an educated guess where the nest are located. We called MIB to ask them to come spray the nest again under warranty. The operator was courteous and promptly scheduled an appointment for us. Kyle, the technician and his partner came for the second visit. We showed them the 2 main problem areas. Kyle crawled into the the crawl space and sump pump area and throughly checked each crack and the panel behind the insulation. Within minutes he was able to find the 2 nests and treated them throughly. They then sprayed the base board areas and the exterior of the house near the 2 nests. We are very happy with MIB customer services, professionalism and the effective treatment. Definitely will use them again in the future and highly recommend MIB to others. P.S. We have white carpet and the technicians are all trained to put a cover on their shoes upon entering the house. We were given a 2-hour appointment window. They are amazing!!! Very reasonable and definately worth every cent and more!!!! They got rid of a roach infestation that was beyond belief at one of our houses. Years, YEARS of filth made this cockroach infestation one of the worst I've ever encountered. We couldn't move a cup in that house without 50 roaches running for cover. So we bought a house in June, and while I hadn't yet seen anything gross or horrible inside our house, I A. Didn't EVER want to and B. Had seen tons of weird insects on a bush in our yard. We called Men in Black to see if anything could be done about the buggy bush, and to check the whole house just to be proactive. Sara came out and was absolutely, insanely amazing. Non-judgmental, listened to what service I wanted, never tried to upsell us, and was soooo knowledgeable. The bush was full of box elder bugs, which she had mentioned are kind of a pain. When I told her I hated the bush anyway and had planned on getting rid of it, she said that was my best bet and she was right - as soon as the bush was gone, so were the bugs! She placed a few mouse traps in our garage and by our back patio door, sealed some standard entry points, and we signed up for them to return seasonally just to make sure everything is in order. Their services are incredibly reasonable, they arrive in an unmarked vehicle, and the whole potentially WILDLY unpleasant experience was insanely pleasant. One other note about Sara - we have two dogs, one of which is so terrified of people that we NEVER let him meet servicepeople. Hell, when we have family parties, we sometimes send him to daycare just to take the stress off of him. The first time Sara came, she mentioned she loved dogs and was OK with us freeing them from their bedroom-upstairs-hideaway. My fearful dog ADORED her and was giving her kisses as she left. I was so impressed by her way with them that we requested that she come every time - for our fall checkup, we actually had a foster puppy, who fell similarly in love with her! Such a relief to have someone in our home who put EVERYONE in our family at ease! read more

I would highly recommend this company. During their first visit to my home for a mouse problem I had been having for a while, two very nice young men spent over an hour setting traps in my basement, 1st floor and garage. They explained everything they were doing. I also learned a lot about mice behaviors from them. They did not set any traps outside because I have two dogs. They did however plug openings along the outside of my house which they determined the mice were entering through. They returned in 2 weeks to check the traps. This visit it was two different young men. Again, they could not have been nicer. They did find several mice dead in the traps. They reset the traps and told me to contact them if I had any further issues. The cost was very reasonable for their services. read more

I'm good with your service. I nearly gave you a 3 star rating. Obviously I don't know if the problem is solved. A couple things I do know: 1) it was raining when you came out to do our exterior job and I doubt the pest control will be as effective when applied in the rain. I did call the office (no response) and the tech (he said it would be no problem). Are things that tight we couldn't reschedule? My second issue was the price. I received a range of between $120-145 on the phone. This included the $30 first time customer discount. The service ended up being $175 for about 25 minutes of work. I had turned down closer services at that price. Tech was pleasant, took care of the cosmetics and worked quickly, no problem there. I can't endorse the service. All I can say is WOW! We've lived in the Chicago area a long time and never had the need for an exterminator or any kind of pest control, so this was all new to us. This company made it easy for us to choose them. After calling a few other places first for quotes, I read the comments from the owner here and liked how he said that big corporations had ruined customer service, so we called them. Our call was answered by Lauren, she was not only pleasant to speak with but she knew her stuff when it came to our ant problem and didn't treat us like another phone ringing. When I explained our problem to her she actually listened though I'm sure she heard the exact same story hundreds of times before. She explained everything that would be done and put our minds totally at ease! Our call was scheduled for the next day between 10-12 (they require a 2 hour window) and the techs showed up promptly within that time. They introduced themselves, Kyle and Rod, and for the first 10 minutes listened to myself and my wife with regards to our ant problem. After a few questions of their own, they got to work and boy were they thorough! Before long they found the source of our problem and took care of it. This was not the cheapest of the companies we called, nor was it the most expensive but I can say with confidence, we got the best. We are going to use this company from now on and have already referred them to our friends and family. If you're looking for a good family owned company who is good at what they do, give them a call. Pests (or the thought of pests) at or near your home is stressful enough, especially during quarantine when there is enough to worry about about. But the pros at Men in Black Pest Control were kind and empathetic to my concerns and questions. I initially emailed them because I had some questions about wasps getting into my home office, Lauren the manager, heard me out and eased my fears without trying to sell me an unnecessary visit. A few weeks later, I suspected I had mice taking up at residence in my BBQ grill. Once again Lauren, answered my questions, and provided me with a prompt solution by scheduling a tech to come to my home a few days later. Good news, no mice to speak of and the tech even went a step further to make sure the outside perimeter of my home was safe and secure and gave me a few tips for making sure I keep the furry freeloaders at bay. The manager who I spoke to from Men in Black was so kind! We had a wasp issue outside our door and felt bad killing their nest as they also pollinate and are helpful to nature. She explained that they outsource someone to come in for all honeybee calls to save the nests. Unfortunately because wasps are a different species and have a different type of colony they can't survive a hive removal. She patiently explained all of this to me with empathy and understanding. (Even though I'm the one calling the pest company!) she was super sweet! The hive was taken care of and she even followed up with further concerns. Would definitely ask them again if we ever have a pest issue!!! read more

It looks like my review was bumped for some reason (2015), so I am writing it again. I had a consult with them a few months back. The guy who showed up, stayed at my place for over an hour, ended up looking at pictures of similar bugs on the internet, and told me incorrect information. I went to the Kane County Extension Office and they correctly identified the bug and told me that I needed to do nothing to treat it. Meanwhile, M.I.B. told me I needed to tent my house and that the beetles were eating my floors. I have hired Men in Black twice (Once for me, once for my mother's house) and I really can't say enough good things about them. Both times it was to deal with mice. They must have their PhD is mouse behavior because they were able to show me exactly where the mice had entered and what clues tipped them off to that exact location. They seal up the entrances and set bait stations and at least 9 months later, I have yet to have a single mouse return. My only regret is that I didn't call them years earlier. For what I have spent in traps and bait stations over the years, their service is a steal. Stop dealing with dead mouse bodies and give them a call and be done with the mice once and for all. They asked a few basic questions to get an idea of what the job was and then I received a detailed message explaining what they would do and what charges to expect. The technician called when he was on his way and showed up as scheduled. He did a great job from what I could tell. I was first emailed an explanation of the work that was done and the material that was used, then received an emailed invoice (as I had requested). I had Men in Black come out to my home and inspect for mice so they were great at setting up traps and covering any points of entry. They tell you they come back 2-weeks later however, they did not proactively contact me to schedule this as I had to contact them myself. During the follow-up, I was told that there were no new points of entry and everything looked fine. 2 weeks later, a mouse came into our home so I contacted them to see if they can come back and they told me it would be an additional $45. I called a few other places that charged more money initially which includes any follow-up visits within the first year without charging you extra so I don't think it's worth it to use Men In Black read more

Called a company we'd used in the past and they said, "Where are they coming in?" Kind of annoyed us--isn't that YOUR job? But on their advice we watched at dusk and saw nothing. Called Orkin--the ones who advertise how they'll track 'em down? They wouldn't even come out until we knew the entry point. Like everybody else, we had fantastic experience with Men In Black. Jason actually made catching mice a pleasure. After failing to catch all the mice humanely, then with regular tracks, we called in for the big guns. Jason inspected the entire house thoroughly for entry holes, basement and all. He was here for multiple hours. I especially appreciated his educating us on why we couldn't catch the mice initially. Withing 2 hours of his departure, we had our first catch. 6 more came within the week, and there's no sign of them after a month...even in the chicken coop. I called MIB to ask about a possible infestation. Jason got back to me right away, and was such a pleasure to deal with. He explained to me in detail what the problem might be, the solution to the problem, and the cost. It turned out that I actually didn't need MIB's services after all (thank god!), but I was so grateful that he took the time to explain everything to me -- a good 20 minute phone conversation. This guy really knows his stuff. He easily could've charged me the $75 inspection fee, but he advised me to hold off until I saw evidence of an infestation and saved me the $75!
