My family and I have been staying here for years whenever we want to get out of the city and spend…read moresome time by the water. That being said, I honestly can't say we've ever had a stay that felt like a true 5-star experience. When you first walk in, the hotel makes a great impression. It's beautiful and captures that classic early-1900s historic hotel vibe it's clearly going for. The lobby smells amazing, and everything feels crisp, clean, and welcoming. Unfortunately, that feeling doesn't extend much past the lobby. The hallways leading to the rooms are often muggy and don't smell particularly fresh. Sleep can also be difficult since the walls seem very thin -- you can easily hear hallway conversations and noise from neighboring rooms. If you're paying extra for a beach view room, just know that the "view" may involve looking past a large carport structure, which takes away from the experience. Also, the shower in the room we had this last time was unbelievably small. Taller friends had to duck while in the shower. The bar service has consistently been disappointing over the years. It never seems like there's enough staff, which leads to long waits. Food options within the hotel are also limited, and if you're someone who likes snacks between meals, definitely plan ahead because grab-and-go options are hard to find and restaurant hours aren't especially convenient. We keep coming back because of the location and tradition, but there's definitely room for improvement to make the overall experience match the beautiful first impression.

She was so friendly and so knowledgeable on how to set up the tables and how to him prepare for the wedding that we decided to go take a look and it is absolutely gorgeous. So the day of our wedding the weather was 90% rain Miss Kelly kept a very watchful eye on the weather and our ceremony was done without any rain then it poured down and she was on top of getting everything in order moving to tables clearing out the water. Our guess we're never inconvenience her staff were very professional you didn't even realize they were there they moved quickly taking out trash arranging things to be in place and she was just an absolute angel. If you're one in a outdoor wedding with someone who cares about you and your wedding party this place is a must especially with Miss Kelly thank you again for everything you did

The place is well kept and the bathrooms were more like a home bathroom in a good way- than a public bathroom. We had plenty of space to eat/dance and stand around and the kiddos had fun with the huge grassy areas. They have a music system we connected our ipod to and the speakers pumping. I think this is a great place for reunions, company picnic...etc...

It's currently letting Galveston Yacht Club re-establish off of the property. It has multiple floors an is outfitting for meeting or all kinds of spaces, classrooms, etc. I haven't had a full tour. Tons of docks - they are being repaired with a goal date of the end of the year I think, maybe sooner. Prime area. I believe the goal is to sell it to a group to further sailing education and participation which is really cool. Great staff.

November 21, 2021…read more AWESOME EXPERIENCE with Captain Clement Jardin!! In honor of my 60th BD on the 23rd...we, "just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...a tale" of 3 gals on the bayou!!! (gilligan's island song reference) The three of us had the best time...Sunday FUNday! It was predicted to be a 40-80% chance of rain ...BUTT, not today Satan...the weather was perfect...hardly any clouds, 75 out and a decent wind...Capt Clement was patient, friendly and informative. I was the captain for about an hour...then I asked my friend to take over...she hesitantly did! We were on a 30 foot sailboat called, "the lift off!" It had plenty of space to sit. While on the water we met several other sailors/captains that Clement knew and we got to talk to from afloat. This outing cost $50 each and we were sailing in Offatt's bayou for 2 hours (maximum is 3 hours but, we all had to pee, so we lost an hour...old bitty's!!! LOL!) All in all, it was a FANTASTIC experience ...very zen. Get this...one friend aboard hadn't been on (any) kind of boat in 38 years (she had been involved in a near fatal boat crash at 14) and today, was the day she conquered that fear of water-crafts. We all learned a lot from Captain Jardin and about ourselves. Through the week we had large sessions, smaller breakout sessions and a final banquet. The banquet food was good (I've definitely had worse and better, but it was fine)! We had chicken and beef with mashed potatoes and green beans. From an AV standpoint, the audio systems worked well throughout the conference space, the decor and uplighting was a perfect complement to the information being delivered and the video portions were displayed well. The bathrooms were very clean and the view from this place is great! It's walkable to several hotels and restaurants so it's a great place to host an event!

While I was here for a training event, they definitely made use of the space. For a majority of the time we had used the space mostly downstairs. When I say that the space here was huge, it was. The one day our event was going on downstairs and the area high school was starting their prom upstairs. As we were closing up for the day, the prom was coming in for the evening. Honestly, you wouldn't have known there were two different events happening at once in this building. I also would like to point out that the Convention Center itself is part of a bigger complex of buildings. If you have the ability to spread out your event you can use spaces in the hotels that share the complex. As far down as the San Luis I believe. One perk of using this space, and if you set it up, you can have a shuttle running between the many hotel buildings and the convention center. Sure beats having to walk the long blocks to get here. The only downside here is the amount of air conditioning being blasted from the rooms. I understand if there is a huge event with tons of people, but when you are sitting next to an empty room with no one in it, that air can make you think that you are sitting in the arctic. The biggest highlight of this space is the view. You have a great weather day outside and you get some beautiful views of the Gulf.
