After always hearing great things about Menards from my boss in Chicago, I was excited when Menards came to Louisville. Almost everything we needed for our operations, this boss would say, "Go to Menards and pick it up." Up until this point I have been very please with the local store in Louisville as it is always neat, clean, and organized making it easy to find what one needs. Typically they have about all you need for a project. Recently while working on a project I needed an additional gallon of primer which I had been getting tinted. I asked my wife to go by Menards and pick it up. When she arrived back, the primer which she had placed in the passenger side floorboard had spilled out the top from the top not being put back on well from when associate tinted. We were able to clean most all the paint up as we have weather tech type mats. However, some of the paint got over on carpet on side of floor board and on the plastic molding on side of door. We were not able to get all this off. I attempted to contact local management night of issue, but their phones were turned off at 9:40 PM, even though they close at 10:00 PM. I spoke with Tyler the next day and explained situation. He seemed very helpful. The next thing I learned was claim had been turned over to a 3rd party Gallagher Bassett who handles claims for companies including Workman's Comp claim for companies. Victor Gallagher Bassett's manager who Menards seems to totally rely on for these processes has been evasive, unprofessional and of no help at all. A very sarcastic and nasty individual. This could have been handled as a customer service issue as it would not be a large claim. It would probably be less than the cost of most of my visits to Menards. However, Menards has chose to push their loyal customer off to a 3rd party and disregard their legitimate claim/issue. After calling store to update today, Victor once again called me to say their position stands because they can't verify what happened in my wife's car. I can tell you she didn't open can and pour it out in the floor of her car. It didn't fall out of seat. It was placed in floorboard for the ride home. This would not have spilled out edge of paint can, had associate not left lid unsealed. Menards is apparentlty so big, the individual lost in this process doesn't matter. I hope your interaction and doing business goes well with Menards. When it does, they are a great place to do business. However, if you have an issue like this, be ready to be pushed aside to a strong are legal claims handling company like Gallagher Bassett. read more

This location is very clean & has a wide variety products. I recently visited to pick up an online order. Menards emails "hot buys" almost daily. A limited amount of items at a great price. The items are shipped to the store & you are notified when ready for pickup. I scored 6 room darkening panel curtains for $20! After receiving the email that my pick up order was ready I headed to the store. The online order pick up area is in the back right corner of the store. Follow the orange signage. Carts are available in the online pick up area. Sherri assisted me with my online pick up order. She scanned my barcode & quickly collected my order. Sherri was very kind & thorough. I was easily able to exit the store after pick up. Thank you Sherri for making my first online pick up order a breeze! read more

So where do I start..I no not one person can make a company have bad reviews but I know one person saying something to friends and word of mouth i can go along way ....me and my wife went in for paint i had looked at a $3.99 flash light i wanted and clipped it on my pants and continue to walk around the store got several items that ended up to be $85 and cashed out. As doing so the AP of the store comes running out put his chest in my shoulder and screams very loudly handed over. I was baffled and said what and what over he said the flashlight you Thief ..not to mention I do this line of work for a living Also Serve my country for 22 years being a thief is not one.. pulled me into this room and continues to call me a thief cause my wife a thief and told me I do not go to church because if I did I wouldn't be a thief first off you don't bring in my religion because you know nothing about me you just think I stole a $3 flashlight which was not even the case. I clearly forgot the flashlight was clipped on the outside of my pants.. this guy is unreal and will I will not be back not to mention the manager could not even get a word in edgewise cuz this guy was overreacting over a $3 flashlight.. very embarrassing and unreal shame on you Menards for letting this happen and letting this guy accuse people. And not even letting them explain anything I had to listen to this guy Scream for 20 minutes literally scream I haven't even heard someone scream like that in the military this guy's on professional.. read more

Was really disappointed in menard for letting good employees go for petty reasons. I really thought they cared about their employees.

They charge a $5 service fee to fill propane tank. That a 25% fee on 1 tank. They don't display propane price which means it's not competitive or up to date. Why advertise you fill propane tanks and then try to convince me it's cheaper to exchange. Lazy workers. Poor service. Poor pricing. Save yourself some hassle and cash and go to Uhaul instead. read more

Recent new store located on Preston Hwy and The Snyder freeway. On my first visit I was totally impressed with how customer friendly staff is. the layout was the best as well as organized. Menard's is more the a home supply center and The selection of products are expansive in selection. Very impressive displays and organized. The store is massive in size and selection. Customer service was very helpful in finding my needs. I have made several trips shopping at Menard's before reviewing and each visit was as great as the first. Check out was very easy! yet different from other home centers. Staff was friendly and helpful. User friendly at it's best. I highly recommend Menard's! Note Expansive parking lot. I was very excited that the city of Louisville was finally getting a menards. I was even more excited when I realized it was within driving distance of me. The store has a massive selection and even a grocery side to it. Which is interesting for a hardware store. I'll give menards credit they run cool promotions. In the few months they have Been there. They have done a 11 percent rebate program. I finished my basement recently and purchased all my bathroom setup from there and it turned into a nice rebate check just under $200 that I am currently using to buy paint to paint other rooms of my home. Currently they are doing a if it fits in a bag you get a discount promotion as well. So that's cool and it works out as double savings since I'm using my rebate check. Heads up on the rebate check though it looks like and ad. It is folded over and is not a check. And you have to open it to see it's a rebate. Very easy to misidentify and throw away. Back on subject; menards has pretty cool promotions. They are kinda the kohl's of hardware stores it seems. One other cool feature they have is you can rent there pickup trucks for like 19.95 an hour. This came In Handy when I purchased my shower kits for my basement. My only knock on menards is the customer service and staff is lacking knowledge and willingness from my experience. It's is very hard to find a worker and when you do it's almost like calling a call center for troubleshooting. You get routed around and nobody knows the correct answers. I experienced that in several departments. The vanity/shower departments, paint department and setting up that short term truck rental was like pulling teeth. You can tell they hadn't done it before. However it is new so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure it takes time to learn about the products and everything. Nevertheless very happy with the business so far. Few minor improvements and it a 5 star rating all day. read more

This store is great for everything except lumber. The guy Kerry in lumber is less than accurate when placing the orders. The indoor lumber barn is a wreck with no organization at all. Even Kerry told us it could be here or over there. There is no rhyme or reason for the stock of the lumber in the barn. I have contacted corporate about Kerry because this has happened multiple times with him keying in the wrong items. Causing issues for us when we get to the lumber yard. read more

Absolutely NOT! A friend was stopped and asked by security to dump a very small purse he claimed he saw something purple that was tossed and it was my friend's purple cell phone that was in her hand. How embarrassing and disgusting!! It was def racial profiling and the manager named John jumped in and asked my friend to leave the store and he was wrong. There are pictures and witnesses agreeing to what they saw which was nothing and that the security guard was wrong and he was racial profiling along with the manager John! Menard's is one of my favorite places to shop. They have, literally, everything. Electronicals? Check. Dog food? Check. Frozen pizza? Check. Household cleansers? Check. Refrigerators? Check. Lumber? Check. Christmas trees? Check. You get the point. It's ALL there. There are even items we find at Menard's that we can't find elsewhere (our favorite dog treats we can only find here.) (That is to say, our DOG'S favorite dog treats we can only find here. We don't eat them, that would be weird.) This store is massive and it's easy to get turned around in the center aisles. The garden center is outstanding during garden center season, and we bought 6 crepe myrtles there which are thriving in our back yard. The staff has always been helpful and I think everybody that works there knows where just about everything is. More often than not they'll take you to what you're looking for instead of casually waving you in the direction you need to go. They almost always have a 11% rebate offer going on, which is great when you go back. Heck, they even have the rebate forms right there at the checkout to make it easy for you. Fill out the form, mail it in with a copy of your receipt, and in a couple weeks you get a rebate form that you'll turn right around and spend in their store. Speaking of money (which we only marginally were), the prices at Menard's a pretty frikkin' reasonable. Like any merchant, prices can be higher or lower on various items, but we find that the prices here are generally lower than other hardware/building supply/general merchandise locations. My only real complaint is that they can be slow to realize that the need to open more registers. On our last visit there were two registers open and the lines were literally 12 to 15 customers deep (I counted). It made me wonder if I was at Walmart or if I was at Menard's. That tends to be the exception and not the rule, so don't that dissuade you from shopping there. If you haven't been to Menard's it's time to give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Clean nice store, but it better be because it's new!! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, store was well laid out and organized and the shelves were full. Parking lot is large so there no problem finding a spot no matter how busy they may be. If you are purchasing bricks, rock or lumber go to the service desk in the back right corner of the store. There you will place your order. Go back up front to pay (you have to go that way to get into your car) there they will give you your receipt. Drive around to the back corner and the guy in the guard shack will let you in. POWER TIP.......... Find or ask a young worker to load for you. That's what they are there for! read more

This is a new store located off Preston highway. The store offer variety of items. I went to Menard store for a project to shop for ideas, and materials for accent. walls. The employees were extremely nice in assisting me. I love the self help wall with instructions on how to complete a Variety of projects. Their bathroom and the store was extremely clean, I look forward in visiting the store again, specially with the warm weather approaching to get ideas for my backyard. I am giving them five stars for excellent customer service and wonderful items to purchase. read more

I've shopped at several Menards over the years and it is usually my favorite of the "big box stores", however this one in Louisville on Preston Highway is absolutely the worse of them all - particularly with 1) customer service and 2) stocked shelves. On many occasions I have gone in to purchase an item that is indicated as being in-stock according to the menards website. When I arrive, the item is not in the shelf. My latest experience (yesterday and again today) had me searching for someone to help. After finding a store employee to help, they promised to go look for it "in back". After waiting for 15 minutes, I found the same store employee who said "oh, I forgot about you. Come back tomorrow" I usually have to drive up to the store in Indiana to get what I need. Too bad; this could be a better store with better management I'm sure. read more

I bought 2 exterior light fixtures on Menard's website which I did not know they were considered special ordered. I returned them at Menards on Preston Highway because they looked cheaply made. John, the manager, opened a register to a long line of customers and said he was taking credit cards. My husband and I thought he was checking people out, not processing returns. I asked if he was doing returns, and he didn't answer. Customers behind us started going to his line and when I finally realized that John was doing returns, I nicely let him know that we were in line first and didn't know he was processing returns. From the start, John had a bad attitude, and I could tell he was angry. He acted like we were stupid. Then we sat there for 15+ minutes while he tried to find my order from the email confirmation I had received. First John said that I didn't have the right order or items. Then, he kept saying he couldn't find my items to return them. Next, he called Gina over who was equally as rude. From the start, she had a scowl on her face as if she was mad for no reason. She was looking in the computer for about 5 minutes, and I had to ask her twice what the issue was. She ignored me the 1st time. The 2nd time she rudely said she could not find my order. After about 10 more minutes, I asked why this was taking so long since I had an email confirmation. At this point, Gina started mouthing and left. When I asked her name, she turned around and rudely said her name. At this point, manager Taylor came over, and he was able to find my order within a few minutes. I told him the issues I had with John and Gina, and he didn't seem concerned and acted like he didn't believe. I am new customer to Menards, so this ordeal was very disappointing!! What an amazing concept. This store is huge and so happy that it is in our end of town. Obviously there is plenty of parking since it is a HUGE hardware store with so much more to offer. Also, easy in and out onto Preston Highway, so getting there is not an issue. They regularly run an 11% rebate offer. You have to mail off your rebate receipt and the funds then come back in the form of store credit. But not to worry, if you you don't need hardware stuff (which is hard to believe as we all need hardware stuff regularly) you can spend your rebate funds on grocery items, YES they have some grocery staples, toilet paper, paper towels, chips, etc. We needed flooring for a new sun-room we just had added to our house. We were able to get assistance from a clerk who was knowledgeable and helpful in making our selection. They helped us load it in the car even. They have everything and a huge selection of flooring, fire pits, lawn furniture, lumber, gardening supplies, fencing absolutely everything you could think of in terms of hardware store. It is well organized, well lit and enough clerks to assist with questions. They even recommended a guy to install the flooring we purchased. He is supposed to lay my floor tomorrow, that will be another review. read more

We shop at Menards 9625 Preston Crossing Louisville often. Always have had good service. Thursday Aug 10th , we stopped and bought mulch and pea gravel. We were assisted by Chris Brown. Yes yes yes! This place is absolutely amazing!!! So this is a place where you can get just about anything you need. They have a lighting section, they have a small furniture section ,they have seasonal ,garden ,home. They even have a small grocery section. Now don't expect to come in here and be able to do your full grocery shop for your family but they have things like chips bread milk snacks and things that you might have forgotten. The store is so clean and so organized. Now granted they just opened yesterday but I have high hopes that the store is going to stay nice and organized. The way they have the store laid out is really nice and there are big signs over each section so it's really easy to find what you're looking for. We ended up walking through the entire bottom floor Of the store but we did not go upstairs. Just doing that took us well over an hour. There was so much to look at. There was a lot of sales associates around and they were all very friendly asking if we needed help. Again I have high hopes that the staff is going to stay friendly and helpful as time goes on. Check out was easy and it was a different experience. You give your basket to the cashier and they scan everything for you and then it comes down the line and you bag everything up. Also the receipt prints out on the customers side so if you're using a card there is no customer to cashier hand interaction which is nice especially during things like the pandemic. I definitely am very excited to have this store close to me. I feel like it's going to be a nice contribution to the community for things that we need. I also feel like the prices are pretty comparable without the 11% rebate. However if you decide to get the 11% back then I feel like the stores prices are actually cheaper. That makes me very happy. The worst return policy in a big box store I have ever encountered. NO cash return. Must use in store credit check...sucks! Also, no cash refund for unused balance. Once you apply the credit check you better use it all at once. You lose again. Can not even use it for online shopping. Once you buy a product at Menards you are locked in...FOREVER!. Don't go here expecting to get assistance . The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing . They seem out out if you ask for help finding something then you are given the wrong item even though you show the ad. You find out at check out. Then you are sent back to find the correct one and someone else is supposed to show up but they don't. My first and last time . Stick with Lowe's folks I know I am going to do just that . read more

I've never shopped at Menards and today's experience showed me why I won't be back. (1) make sure to look at your receipt if you make an online purchase. They charge $1.40 "processing fee" for a $14.00 item..10%!!! (2) to pick up an online order, you have to walk clear to the back of the store (3) you have to bag your own items. It would seem if I have to bag an item and do an employee's job, then it should be a wash that they had to pick my item. (4) everything is 11% off, but you have to cut the UPC, print the rebate form and mail it all in. Sure Maybe in 1970 before computers. Who has the time or the want to go through that hassle. Part of their motto on the building is "service". I'm not seeing it. I'll go to Lowe's across the street next time. read more

Let me start by saying NOT HELPFUL at all. I have been shopping with Menards for over 5 years and I have always had great service. This was not the case in Louisville KY with store manager Mike. I was needing to return some doors that I had purchased online. I called and the young man told me that I would get a refund "No Problem" about 3 hours later I get a call saying that I would lose 25% for a restocking fee. I was not happy at all. I ask to speak to the store manager and that's when it went down hill. He was talking to me like I was a dumb customer and that I special ordered them. Not the case. I ordered them off the website and it never said special order. The store manager went on about how he was going to lose money if he gave me back the full amount. So now its all about how much money he is going to lose and not the customer he will lose. Customer service is down the drain at Louisville Menards. The store is bright, clean and the floor layout is very customer friendly. The first visit was very enjoyable just by seeing all the displays they have of products that Lowe's and Home Depot do not offer. After a few days my wife and I returned to purchase an item we decided on from the previous visit. The customer service rep said it wasn't in stock(which is a very common for them) and we could order online. The customer service rep. did help assist us with the special order in the store. The order arrived three days later at the store and they notified us the item was in and we could pick up on Monday. The next day my spouse noticed in the Sunday paper a 11% rebate on the item so she called the store. My wife told the sales clerk we purchased the product on Wednesday and the 11% rebate was in the ad on Sunday. The sales clerk said we could bring the receipt when we picked up the product Monday and they would cancel the purchase and run the sale through so we could apply for the rebate. Long story short, after forty five minutes, three sales reps said doing the paperwork was a lot of trouble for just $110.00 dollar savings for us!! The rep in the department said he would have to charge a 20% restocking fee for something I haven't even loaded on my vehicle yet. We weren't canceling the order, we just wanted the same thing every other store in America provides, which is a price adjustment without question. BUYER BEWARE ... Menards does not do price adjustments, go to Lowe's and Home Depot. read more
