I had an absolutely horrendous experience at the Oshkosh Menards this week. I rented the Menards truck, as I have before to pick up an order. When I went to open the tailgate, the handle broke off in my hands. I was told tough, I'd have to pay for the damages. I did not dent/scratch/hit anything, just using the truck as a normal person would. The assistant general manager Joan has been incredibly unwilling to work with me in any way on this. They also as of now haven't even provided me a receipt showing the charges of the damages, just stating "your deposit will cover it" I have been shopping there for years but no more, Lowe's is right down the street read more

I have heard my friends originally from the midwest talking about the greatness of Menards. However, I really believe they undersold the greatness of this store. I have been to 4 different locations in the area, and every one of them have professional employees who care about taking care of customers. I have done pick up orders, orders by mail, as well as shopping in store. Each time the products are professionally packaged. It's nice to see employees taking the time to do their job correctly. It's a nice change. I even saw the TikTok interview on Subway Takes with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. His pitch with the 11% rebate was evidence to me that he's a real educator as we educators are the only ones who do rebates. So, yes, I have sent in 3 bundles so far. I am from Arizona, or we have two competitors of Menards. It's not unusual, then, when I go there, I have to walk around to find someone. Here at Menards, Jen stopped what she was doing, and basically gave me a full tour of the store for the 20 to 25 items which I needed. Outstanding service, thank you. The order pickup is ridiculous. On more than one occasion I've gotten a notification that my order was ready for pickup. About 3-4 hours later I show up only to be told that the order isn't ready, however I could come back in 20-30 minutes or later that night. Never had an issue with lowes, Home Depot, or fleet farm order pickup. Take your business elsewhere people. read more

Not impressed with this Menards store. It is not clean inside. Floors are filthy throughout entire store. Floors look like someone opened up a can of black paint and ran up and down aisles splashing it onto floors. Shelves are sparsely filled and shelves are dirty. Register area is crowded and conveyers on check outs look like they need massive wipe downs. Cashier seemed friendly but store needs a power washing. Especially these days and times stores should be cleaning more!! read more

I was in the Oshkosh Menards looking for a flooring product that my son asked to check for him. I had to ask twice for someone to call for help in this department, by the time I got back to that department, she was helping someone else, and another girl was getting ready to clock in. she stood with her back to me the entire time, and then when she did clock in asked if she could help me and I told her what I was looking for, she asked me what I needed it for, I told her, she told me I didn't need it. I asked her if she had it, because my son asked me to look for it, and she told me again I didn't need it. I have a house that we are trying to fix up, I usually shop in Fond du Lac, which the associates are very friendly and helpful. If I am in Oshkosh again, I will not stop at Mendards for anything, I will go to Lowes. read more

It's no wonder Menards is not accredited with the BBB when they have employees such as Oshkosh Wisconsin's Front End Manager 2nd Asst. Tianna H. on the front lines; she doesn't seem to realize that Menards needs customers, we don't need Menards. If you order something online with Menards to pick up in store, they charge you a pull-fee, and you get an email stating that if the order isn't picked up in 14 days they will return the item to stock and will charge another fee to restock the item. Common sense would lead you to believe a credit back to your credit card would also be issued, but that's not what happened in my situation. I wonder how many other customers they have done this too without the customer's realizing they never received their money back. I'm in the process of renovating a home, but I will not give Menards one more dollar of my business, ever! I felt I was being fairly patient waiting until May 11th to contact Menards as to why I still hadn't received my $462 refund for an order I placed on April 2nd but was not able to pick up. I called Menards and spoke with Tianna. I wasn't angry or rude, just matter-of-fact, but she was immediately defensive and agitated. She had zero ability to "listen" to me. Instead she asked who processed the refund. I had to repeat myself two more times to get her to understand what I needed. She asked me for the order # and I started to read what I thought was the order # and she snapped at me cutting me off mid-sentence saying that's not the right #. After giving her the correct order # she said she processed the refund and told me I should see it in 2-3 business days (which was a lie - it could be up to 10 business days). I asked if she had a confirmation # for me. She responded with a sigh as if I was creating so much more work for her, and said she would send me an email with a copy of the receipt. I said, "OK, thank you" and we hung up. Two days later I checked my email and saw that Tianna only credited me for $52. So I called Menards and again spoke with Tianna. Again, I wasn't angry or rude, just matter-of-fact, but she again was immediately defensive and antagonizing. I reminded her that she processed a refund for me two days ago but the refund receipt copy she sent me was not the correct refund amount. She asked my name and said, "Oh yes, I remember." I started to tell her more specifically what the problem was and she interrupted me and then very chidingly said, "Well since you didn't pick up your order we had to return it to stock and charge you a fee, so that's why you didn't get the full refund amount." I started to re-explain but she cut me off midsentence again. I asked her to please stop cutting me off while I'm trying to get my point across but she purposefully continued to keep cutting me off and speaking over me just because...... Then she asked me for the skew # -- now I'm a little irritated. How about asking me for my last name to look up my past orders? Needless to say it just got worse from there so I asked to speak with a manager and she replied, "I am the manager." I guess she finally figured out she could look up my past orders by my name and found the door I needed a credit on and she said she processed the $400 refund. I asked for a copy of that receipt and she said, "Again, I will email you a copy." I sincerely asked her why wasn't I issued a refund after never picking up my order and she just replied with, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I replied, "Yes, can you just answer my question; what happened that my refund was never processed?" She again said, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I started to speak again and she hung up on me. I was looking for a simple honest answer such as they're short-staffed with COVID, etc. But her obvious lack of maturity, lack of problem solving skills, and lack of communication skills prevented her from being professional and treating me (and keeping me) as a valued customer. My phone calls could have been resolved so easily if she would have slowed down and listened instead of assuming she knew what I was going to say. I then checked my email and read a very condescending, sarcastic email with not a copy of the $400 credit but another copy of the first credit issued of $52. So, I have zero faith that a $400 credit was ever issued. A piece of advice for Tianna: Pretend you're the customer. What level of service would you expect and appreciate? read more

Horrifying and bizarre experience in Oshkosh Menards today. I started getting followed by the guy who brings in the carts from outside. His face was completely covered by sunglasses, mask and hood, and it was beginning to scare me. He then shouts at me that my mask was not covering my nose enough. Okaaay...so I hike up my face covering way up high to my eyes, just go away creepy guy!! Then another employee approached me (got 3 feet away from me!) and said very rudely that my mask was not THICK enough so I would need to wear one of their masks or leave. When I questioned what is considered appropriate mask thickness according to the CDC, he said "Masks need to be thick enough so that you can't breathe." I shit you not. I repeated back to him exactly what he stated, and he said yes, so you cannot breathe. Horrified at his answer, I left the store. Several employees at the entrance followed me out the door, onto the sidewalk, mocking me and laughing at me. WTF!! What is the sadistic training these employees receive to treat masked customers this way? Never had a problem with my face covering in Menards before, it fully covers my nose and mouth. Now THICKNESS of a mask is being pushed? 2021 is going to be really bizarre at Oshkosh Menards. Dont go there, you will be mocked and harrassed, and they insist you are masked until you can't breathe! read more

We just bought a house, so we've been averaging two trips a day to Menards for the last 10 days. And let me tell you, this place is the best! First of all, it's HUGE, so they have pretty much anything you can think of, you just have to find it -- and that's where their army of employees comes in. It's usually pretty easy to find someone, and unless what you're looking for is clear across the store (in which case, pack a lunch or plan on stopping in the patio furniture for a break!), they actually walk you TO the item in question, rather than giving vague directions that result in having to ask three more employees on the way. Also, everyone who works there actually knows stuff about their products and whatever project you're trying to do, and is happy to advise you if you need help. Or just show you what you need and leave you the heck alone, if that's all you want. The returns desk is very friendly, even if you don't have the receipt -- they just ask for ID and give you store credit instead of cash. Make sure to grab your receipt when you check out, since the way the registers are set up, the cashier doesn't hand it to you! You know you're there a lot when the returns clerk recognizes you... In case it's not obvious, I think Menards is great, and I would come here for anything hardware, home improvement, or yard related. And you should too! read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. Worst customer service I have ever experienced after THEY messed up our roofing order which ended up leading to water damage in our home. They are not willing to accommodate, the managers are rude and unhelpful, and there was no accountability taken for the multiple mistakes made by their employees. Not only was our order messed up the first time, we were not called back or communicated with when we were trying to resolve the issue, AND we we're never notified when our second roofing order came in due to their employees not taking down proper contact information. A project that should've taken a weekend ended up taking 2+ months and now we have damage to our home that nobody there cares about or is willing to acknowledge. They could not even give a simple apology or give recognition to the fact that they messed up. They even tried to turn it on us and say it was our fault when nothing in this situation was. We will never be stepping foot in another Menards store again. read more

This yard is absolutely trashed. I work for a small construction company and I come in to get lumber all the time. Few days ago I came in for some lumber, fence, bricks, and mulch. All which I had a extremely hard time finding. Garbage and lumber just put where ever. Just a mess of a place. read more

Had to stop at Menards because they were the only ones around that had what we needed. Didn't have any employees say a word to us even though a couple passed by us. When we went to pushed our cart full of heavy lumber out the store, the cart caught on a terrible patch job on the floor. All of the lumber fell off the cart. The cashier looked at us annoyed that we were holding up the line and we tried to quickly pick up the mess. Another customer helped us by holding the cart. I could see several male employees standing near watching me and my husband try to pick everything up. No one even offered to help. Once we got out to the parking lot and loaded up, another customer offered to take our cart in for us. It seems that the customers here must be used to having to help out since the employees clearly don't care. read more

It's huge, confusing, hard to shop. But overall pretty awesome. I hate their checkouts and they seem very awkward. It's probably me because i'm not used to their setup. Finding one or two things while your on a mission (if you're not a regular) is generally difficult. The place is just that huge. However we have come here for some quality items in the past, camping gear, hardware, outdoors stuff etc etc. My wife loves the garden center. I'll admit, I like it too. Quality is in mind here, I feel almost anything i've picked up here has never failed. The one or two things we had an issue with were manufacturer defects and Menards was excellent about the returns. Service is always great. Selection is just outstanding. Prices can be good with rebates/coupons but unless you do those you can expect average prices on most things. 4/5 stars mostly due to registers/checkout process, it's awkward and I don't enjoy it. Confusing to find just one or two things, there is no quick in and out unless you are a regular. If not, time spent finding help and walking around often won't be fast. read more

I am a regular Menards shopper - decent sale prices and they have many staples we need (bird food, cleaning supplies, lumber, etc.) Had an experience today that finally made me write a review. Short version of a long story - we needed two carpet runners due to our hardwood floors being too slick for our dog post surgery. Bought a 24 footer, and needed a 21 footer as well to form a "T". 21 footer needed to be picked up later, needed to wait for a new roll to come in as they did not have quite enough. This was on Feb. 14, 2015. New roll came in two weeks later, but was from a different dye lot, so it was a different shade of brown. As the rugs intersect in my great room, the difference was TERRIBLY noticeable. I returned to Menards, concerned. Manager called by carpet department. Immediately remedied the situation by replacing the "first bought" runner with a new one to match the dye lot. The runner had been used for almost two weeks, so it certainly cannot be resold. No worries, they replaced with a smile and wished our dog well. VERY impressed by their customer service. Yes, it cost them the price of a carpet runner. However, the positive internet feedback, and my return business, is much more valuable. A plus, Menards. Highly recommend this store. read more

They couldn't have been more unhelpful if they tried. Multiple employees straight up ignored me. The girl on the phone gave me huge attitude. I was literally in tears because I couldn't believe how terribly I was treated & not one person apologized. We made a special trip because our local store didn't have 5 pieces of product we needed and I was treated like that. Will never be back here, I'll promise you. Extremely disappointed. read more
