Turns out I had Rheumatoid Arthritis! I was going to this clinic and they treated my swollen wrists as sprains but it never healed. The last time I was there the front desk lady demanded I come back with a workers comp form. I think she asked me that because I was wearing my Honda jacket. I left work early that day because my symptoms were getting worse, just for her to deny me and ask for a form from my job. She even rudely asked "what do you do for work?" Gross Negligence from NP. The customer service has been great. And previous NP from years ago was very good understanding how best to help me! However, I went in last week knowing I had Covid but felt like usual I had either upper respiratory infection or sinusitis as well. She never looked in my throat, ears or up my nose to realize once side of my head was wholly swollen and inflamed. I have been dealing with this today, day 14, coupled with an eye stye that began this medical issue. This morning I went to UCLA Immediate Care to be clearly diagnosed with sinusitis. Mends NP was grossly negligent in assessing my condition and has further caused me added days of medication. I took it upon myself to take Amoxicillin for 5 days cause that was ALL I had at home to help myself. While it helped clearing some symptoms the pain shifted from my head to throat. read more

I lacerated my hand doing yard work. Went to MEND because they were close by. I waited 45 to be shown into an exam room where I then waited and additional 45 minutes. During that time my blood pressure was taken. That was the extent of the "care" I was given. After 45 minutes of waiting I was shown to another room. A nurse looked at my wound and told me to go to the ER. That was all. No cleaning of my wound. No bandages. Just "go to the ER." I went to the ER and was told by the attending physician that I did not require stitches but recommended a tet shot. Got the the shot. Was cleaned up. Bandaged. Sent home. The doc half-jokingly said they probably just wanted me to leave because it was near closing time. So imagine my surprise when I received a bill from MEND. They had charged my insurance over $1600 for this "care." Granted, I have good insurance, my end was a small fraction of that. But the charge, frankly, should have been $0 considering the experience. I called their bill center which is overseas and has nothing whatsoever to do with the actual medical facility. I was told a couple of things: 1) I was charged for "surgical repair". That didn't happen. I 2) I refused a tetanus shot. Didn't happen. Wasn't even asked. I was told my only option was to file a grievance with my insurance but that the bill was likely to go to collections eventually. So I paid the bill. read more

They are all useless. Every time I contact them there is a problem. I go there for psych, the provider apparently works out of different offices, the office does not offer to take a message or contact the provider for me they say "call the other office". For follow ups, typically doctor offices will submit a request to the insurance for a referral, not this office, they said I need to call and request the follow up. This last time I was prescribed meds the pharmacy was out of stock, so I called Tuesday and the front desk said I had to call the following day because the provider was out (no "I'll take a message and have her call you back") so I call the next day and they said I have to call around to see who has the medication then call back. It's so frustrating, if I had to call around, why couldn't they tell me to do that the day before?! Also, they have a portal which I have used to send the provider messages (be she told me to is that method ) but she never checks it. Oh, also, I asked the provider a question about the difference between two meds that she prescribes often and she gave me a half ass response, she clearly didn't know what he was talking about. read more

Out-of-pocket prices had gone up since 2018 up since (no surprise), but for the care I received the cost was reasonable. For Mend, about $400 out the door for visit, chest X-ray, nebulizer, and medicines. For other prescriptions, there is an excellent pharmacy next door in building. Multicarerx.com. Urgent care called in prescriptions while they saw me. All prescriptions were ready at pharmacy when I arrived. Could not have been easier! My visit was in the morning on a Thursday. I received incredible care from MARIA PREDA, one of the members of the physician's team. Last week I was having a hard time breathing and digesting food, so Maria recommended I get an ultra-sound on my neck. When she received the test results the next day, she immediately told me to go to emergency hospital and get a CT Scan. Rather than follow her advice, i went to see my personal physician, who also told me to get a CT Scan at a clinic. When my personal physician got the test results of the scan, he too told me to go to the emergency hospital, just as Maria had instructed in the first place. I should've listened to Maria when she told me to go directly to the emergency hospital, as I ended up being in the hospital for 5 days (luckily everything turned out ok). I never write a review but decided to do it this time. I got to Mend Urgent Care being very sick with a flu. First of all I was taken care of very quickly and the professionalism of the staff a specially Preda Maria was outstanding. She did prescribe me multiple medications that started to work right way and did some lab tests which also helped to diagnose quickly. First in the morning she called me with lab results and took her time explaining me what was going on with my health. I was feeling sick in March 2021 and went to Mend. I waited for hours to be seen then was given a COVID test that turned up negative and was told that there were a lot of bugs going around. That is the extent of the care that I received. More than six months later, I received a bill for more than $300 for my care. I contacted the billing department and was told that -- as best I can understand -- they sent the insurance claim to the wrong address. They swore they would try their darnedest to get the address correct and send again. I never heard back, so I called again and waited on hold for over an hour before the system dropped my call. I called back and left a message with my name and number but never received another call. I tried again to call and waited on hold again for over an hour. My wife had an urgent need to visit a doctor on July 6, 2024 in a Mend Urgent Care office located in 4849 Van Nuys, Suite 100, Sherman Oaks. When she was admitted, she was told by a reception lady that Mend accepts Medicare and AARP. However, on August 8 we received a denial notice from AARP saying that Medicare did not approve the charge from Mend for my wife's visit. We called Medicare immediately and were told that Medicare did not receive any billing from Mend. On August 12 we went to this location asking what happened. We were told by the same reception lady that there was no invoice showing on her computer and that we should wait for an official billing statement to come. On August 24, we received a billing statement from Mend indicating that there was an outstanding balance after Medicare paid 80% of the agreed-upon billed amount and that no supplement insurance was on Mend's file, which surprised us. We visited this office again on August 26. After exchanging certain words, the same lady admitted that the supplement insurance was on file. We asked to talk with her supervisor, the same lady said that there was no supervisor in this location. We asked if Mend could resubmit its billing to AARP since Medicare already paid 80%. She said that there was not person in charge of billing in this location. We called AARP in the lobby immediately and were told that AARP would process the remaining portion of billing from Mend since Medicare already approved the majority billing. We went back to the office again to inform this lady. Finally, she said that she would send out the second billing to AARP. After experiencing this whole process, we felt that the quality of service in this location is questionable because such a simple billing was improperly processed twice. I would give this place zero stars if it was an option. I just had the worst experience. The place doesn't even have proper signage stating that they are an urgent care or an accessible entrance into the building. I called because I was in the parking structure but couldn't find the place because it's an all brick building without signage and the address numbers are written in black.. not very inviting at all. The front desk woman answers and is RUDE!! I told her I was having trouble finding the urgent care and told her I was in the parking structure she says "we are on the first floor across from the hospital" and hangs up. I park. Had to walk circles around the building to finally find the entrance and then locate the suite number. I was already turned off by this place. I enter the urgent care and I wasn't even greeted with a "hello." Instead the front desk lady says "put your mask on." I told her that I don't have a mask. So she gives me one and asks why I'm here. I told her for a nursing school physical. She takes my paperwork and says automatically, "it's going to be $100 for a physical." I told her "Okay, that's fine." And then she looks at my paperwork some more and says "We don't do blood work. We are just gonna do your physical and an eye exam." I said "Okay, but this is an urgent care? You don't do any blood work?" She said no. She was extremely rude. Not friendly at all. She never once doubled checked with the nurses or other colleagues to make sure the information she was telling me was correct. She had dark hair with blonde highlights and fake eyelash extensions. She was mean. Don't go there please. After being turned away for care, I had to pay for parking!!! I wasn't even seen as a patient and I had to pay for parking. Wow this was my second time at this location and the first time I had a great and kind doctor who listened to me and treated me with respect. Today I had a woman named Dr. Van who was a fast talking, impersonal, unfriendly and, frankly, insulting physician who told me that everything my previous doctors had told me and how they chose to treat me was based on outdated medicine (one of those doctors was her associate). Every time I tried to explain something about my meds or my condition she cut me off talking at the speed of light and refusing to give any credence to my intelligence ( I have a Master's Degree and am not an idiot), or my knowledge of my own body that, if she had only listened to me she would have more important information than was in the medical journals and statistics to which she kept referring. Her manner made me I feel like a piece of meat that was being put through a super speed meat grinder, then given the bums rush. I do not doubt her knowledge but I have never, in my 61 years of life, EVER been treated so shoddily. I could understand her manner if there were a waiting room full of people but THERE WAS NO ONE THERE BUT ME. She treated my like I had a silly little hang nail and was keeping her from saving an ER full of gun shot wounds and head traumas. Conversely, the doctor's assistant("scribe") could not have been more humane, kind, and courteous. But Dr. Van should either stop treating living patients or learn to "act as if" she actually cares about the sick (and therefore emotionally vulnerable), individuals who come here. As for me, in future I will drive one more block to the ER at the local hospital in Sherman Oaks where (now being an annex of the top teaching medical center in Los Angeles), I can get amazing health care from top notch professionals who are courteous and caring while at the same time superbly professional and efficient. I would have been quite impressed with Dr Van's seemingly cutting edge medical knowledge if only she would use it and share it with a patient as though she cared more about them and their illness (that, by the way, compelled them to drag themselves out of of a sick bed and drive across town to seek help when they feel like complete sh**), than she does about feeding her apparently enormous ego by insulting their intelligence, experience, and questions (just like she did of all the doctors who ever gave me information and medication prior to meeting her... one of whom was her associate who prescribed antibiotics for me three weeks prior which she declared was completely wrong). I don't need to be accosted like this when I'm not feeling well. I'm closing I have only two words for Dr. Van: "bedside manner." Not a new concept, but in my opinion and experience, a vital quality in any doctor. Because "Do no harm" (in the Hippocratic Oath), includes not doing harm to a patient's self-respect, self-worth, and emotional state, just as much as not doing harm to their body. That's true, complete, and cutting edMedical Care (with an emphasis on the word "Care"). PS I am attaching a snapshot of the Ipratropium Nasal Spray that I take that Dr Van sarcastically told me -- over and over -- does not come in a nasal spray. Perhaps, Dr Van it is time to put patients on the pedestal where your unassailable Ego currently resides with a crocodile-filled moat around it. While I have to say the wait was long due to them having an emergency, once I got it and was tested they hooked me up with a shit of antibiotics, inhaler and Zpak. They also called the next day with the results. So where I work I have Kaiser. I pay a good amt out of my check each month. I finally got my phone appt this am and the dr said there is nothing they can do I have to take OTC medication for the symptoms. I am still not feeling that well but I was feeling so terrible when I went to Mend the Nurse practioner told me the shot would help a lot and it did! Thank you Mend! You are the best. read more

He broke his ankle. We went to this place and the facility is topnotch! Then, you start to meet the receptionist, then the assistants, the nurse, and the doctor. They are very accommodating, very nice, caring, and made sure that they were able to explain my son's situation/condition. Wow, after the horror show that was Exer Urgent Care in Tarzana, I was relieved to find this location. I have insurance, I see a lot of issues are with pricing - my practitioner offered me options and even with insurance I asked for extra cost details. Medical care is for profit here unfortunately and as patients we have to advocate for ourselves. The care was thorough and compassionate. I'm a younger, recent cancer survivor, so medical centers can cause extra stress. The staff, location and my PA were incredible.
