I just realized some shorts I took in a while back (and no longer have a receipt for) were pretty much ruined. I'd asked to have seams added to a waistband to anchor the elastic and prevent it from rolling inside the fabric. Well, they did this and when I got them back, I was kind of bummed at the seams looking uneven and a bit wavy, but I moved on with my life. I haven't actually worn them since, and just put them on and discovered that they didn't take the time to make sure the fabric was gathered evenly on both sides, so now if the pockets are aligned to my hips, the drawstring & crotch seam is off to the side so no matter how I wear them, the fit is screwy. My partner has a jacket with a delicate fabric that ripped at the sleeve, and they were able to repair it good as new! I can't even tell which sleeve had the rip! I always have a great experience at Mendel's on Stone, but this one was exceptional. As a splurge, I bought a beautiful Italian wool suit on sale that fit perfectly, except, bizarrely, the waistband was too tall and too tight. At Mendel's, Ha is a wizard! She reworked the waist of the pants and remade the waistband so that they fit beautifully and the alterations are completely invisible. The cost was so reasonable. They always do great work but this was beyond. Best of all, Ha was so excited for me to see what she had done. Bravo! read more

I had my shirt tailored, and it fits great. However, when they were pinning me, I had to give multiple instructions to where I wanted it pinned. The lady pinning me was not paying attention. She was trying to multitask, which doesn't work. Let me start by saying I am a 39-year-old male and show respect to everybody. When I went to pick the shirt up. The lady at the counter was assisting somebody prior to me, calling him, sir, and being very respectful. When it got to be. She looked at me and said. " what do you want DUDE". I then paused because I've never been addressed that way. I politely told her my number last name and shirt color. She done said " what is your last name?" in a very rude tone. I repeated my last name and told her my shirt. She then told me "there are many flannels back here." In an extremely rude manner. I do not feel that you should take your frustrations out from one customer on other customers and this is extremely disappointing. read more

I have a traditional white collar job, which requires that I wear business attire. Since relocating to Arizona, I've used this location to have my dress shirts tailored. Initially, I told the employees the service (darts) that worked for me in the past. Today, I presented to the shop in order to have two dress shirts tailored. I told the employee, Sabrina, what I wanted (darts). I asked if darts would achieve my goal of having the shirt taper my waist. I was met with dismissive silence. I asked how could the shirt could be altered. The employee dismissed my questions. Another customer entered the shop. Sabrina left to attend to the other customer. The other customer was new and Sabrina registered her into their system. Sabrina told the new customer that the latest her item would be ready was Wednesday. Sabrina told the new customer that she could pay now or Wednesday, at the time of pick up. As I'm waiting in the back of the shop, another employee had to remind Sabrina that I was still waiting. Sabrina returned laughing stating that she "forgot all about me". I set my dress shirts down on the counter and Sabrina told me that I had to pay up front for my alterations. I paid. I left. I thought about the experience and called that shop explaining that I had changed my mind and wouldn't require any services . I returned and was issued a refund and retrieved my clothes. I won't be back. It was a dehumanizing experience and I won't pay to be dismissed. read more

I love this tailor! Straightforward in their pricing, you can get an estimate before committing to getting work done. All the staff is super nice and helpful, and the tailors themselves do an A+ job. Ugh, this place is terrible. I have taken many items here to be altered, so I know that it wasn't a fluke. I have had consistenty bad service here. Suzie is one of the rudest people I have met. Suzie doesn't want to help you, she doesn't even want to LOOK at you, she wants you out of the shop as quickly as possible and to do the least amount of work she can. She got exasperated and frustrated at being asked even the simplest, most straight-forward question. Oh yeah and they will charge you top dollar. Suzie is lazy on top of being rude. Also, if there is any mistake in your alteration they will try to charge you again, even if it was their mistake! I had to deal with the manager, who is super greedy, and doesn't care about providing good customer service. Rude, lazy, they just want your money. I drove all the way to the east side to AK tailors just to avoid dealing with these people. Btw, AK Tailor is awesome. They are polite, cheap, and do a great job. read more

I have taken paints and jeans there to get hemmed and they do it really quick. They are a little slow to get to the customers when you walk in, and are not super friendly. They do a good job on the hems, and that is all I get done there. I have seen some other peoples bills and it is pretty expensive to have other things done. read more

It's surprises me there are not better reviews for this place. The old place, which some of these reviews are from are completely justified. The old place just around the corner was hot and cramped and crowded and chaotic and a mess. I did not go into that location unless I was desperate. However! The new place is clean, roomy, welcoming and organize. OK, sometimes the cashier girls (always different) are not the friendliest and yes, can have some attitude but I've met some other cashier girls who are very friendly and helpful. The seamstress does amazing work and I have asked her to do some very tricky maneuvering. So far, I am very satisfied with all the work that I've had done. It's reasonably priced, I just had some pants hemmed or $13. Trickier work can get more expensive but I have always been satisfied with the work. I really don't think this place should be avoided per se but just be aware that just because the girl you meet at the cashier may not be super friendly, the seamstress is always outstanding. read more

I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag and the clips to close the bag had broken. I ordered new clips from Timbuk2 as they are unique but asked Mendel's Wife, through Sparkle Cleaners, if they could remove the old clips, insert the new clips and resew the straps. The women at this location did an incredible job. In fact, it looks exactly like the stitching when I received the bag from the manufacturer. Took a bunch of shirts into them, had them tailored, and none of them fit after I got them back. Even shirts where all they did was shorten the sleeves are now too tight. Did excellent work replacing a sleeve zipper on an armored leather motorcycle jacket. Work was perfect and ready on the day promised.

If it's possible to give a business no stars I would. Called the company a week in advance to make sure they could make alterations to a garment. I was guaranteed they could, prepaid for a rush job and left. Gave the business an extra day to complete, go and pick up my items and not only have they not been finished, no work was done on them. Now they are refusing to refund me my money and giving me the run around bc they are incompetent. Don't come here, avoid at all cost. read more

Went in with my daughter's wedding dress to get it bustled in the back and the woman took one look at it and started saying "very big dress" she was obviously over her head. She tried to secure it up but it looked terrible. When I asked if one of the other women in the shop might be able to help, she said "just me, and mabe you go somewhere else" so we left. I've had a few things altered here and I've never been disappointed. One time they fixed some odd sleeves on one of my shirts of course they do a perfectly good job at hemming things. They can be a little distant and uninterested when you go in to drop stuff off, but as long as my clothes come back like I want I'm good. read more

The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's seems they can fix or alter any clothing item you need. They have really fast service which makes it awesome if you need the item back quickly. They are kinda high but it's well worth it unless you can sew yourself. Also, they have enough parking available in there lot and they are right next to Sparkle Cleaners. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I had several pairs of pants hemmed and all of them have come undone in under two months. I work a desk job, so it's not as if I am rough on the hems. I have now taken my business elsewhere - try Sew Perfectly at First and Wetmore next to Ace Hardware. They are friendly (unlike Mendel's Wife), professional and do quality work. read more
