When we started with this journey of remodeling our home, we contacted several companies to come and give us some ideas on what needed to be done because we had no idea what it would take to get it started. After we spoke with several people, we noticed that no one really took interest in the things we needed taken care off and quotes were never given. For the ones that did show up, they didn't show any interest in what we needed explained, they just wanted us to make the decision right there and then, we felt very pressured this is the main reason we picked Mendiola's Remodeling and Construction. I would like to thank Miguel with Mendiola's Remodeling and Construction for my new house! I am so excited to tell you what a wonderful experience I had working with him. My house was built in the late seventies, 2 story 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. We never had done much to it but just what was necessary at the time. A little paint here and there, replaced carpet with linoleum tile, just some manicure things to make the house look presentable. When Miguel came over and started giving us suggestions in what he could do, I was amazed. We added a full master bedroom and bathroom downstairs, remodel the kitchen, and replace the floors. Miguel explained things to us, he emphasized on how he remodels not just cover and manicure things. Miguel has a lot of knowledge, and his workers are amazing. We talked about what we wanted done and what I needed done due to my health. He is a person that listens, goes over things with you and works diligently on his projects. My master bedroom has a full-size shower, vanity table with sink, a bathroom, and a full-size walk-in closet. Did I forget to mention a porch with a ceiling, lights, and a ceiling fan, it's looks wonderful. Words can't cover everything, he has also fully remodeled one of the showers upstairs, and we love it. We had leaks in the pipes when he saw them, he approached us, and we came to an agreement, and he ripped all downstairs and the bathroom upstairs too. He also replaced the ac/heater unit for the main house and for my master bedroom he added a separate unit. My room is fully insulated that we haven't suffered from the cold weather these days... amazing! It is important to have constant conversations with your contractor to better understand everything that is involved as your house is being remodeled. Invoices and agreements should be in writing to protect both parties. Miguel is a great person who you can trust, we never bothered with the paperwork and permits because he took care of them. I am very pleased with his work and recommend him very highly. Our home, like so many others was flooded by Harvey..we had been through 2 contractors (both had taken money and did not do the work, and 1 actually did damage to our home.) We had hired a cabinet builder, who after 9 months did not have one room complete AND we realized that the materials he was using, was not all wood! We let him go, and our home was STILL uninhabitable on the first floor after 15 long months! My husband found an ad on Facebook for Mendiola Remodeling. Miguel came out on a Saturday morning, and right from the beginning there was something different about him, he is very organized, friendly and really worked with us to get us to see our finished home in the midst of broken cabinets and nothing being complete. One of the things that impressed me the most, was that he had the solution to fix one of the errors the previous cabinet guy made, where we weren't going to be able to fit our refrigerator into the space and faced breaking down my much needed island! Any cook will tell you the island is a must! So, Miguel came up with a perfect solution to push back the wall into the laundry room, so the refrigerator would be flush with the cabinets, and saving my island in the process!!! That alone was HUGE!!! Everyone associated with Mendiola Remodeling has been fantastic to work with, very respectful, cleaning up after every phase....each one paid attention to detail and I am really impressed. If all that wasn't enough to earn 5 stars, the best part of this company is that Miguel Mendiola made a promise to me on that first Saturday, that I would be able to cook for Thanksgiving in my kitchen, after all we had been through, I was skeptical....wanting to trust him, but...just wasn't sure! Mendiola Remodeling did a great job designing and constructing our new porch room. From the foundation work to the finish paint, the quality of construction was outstanding. The room and additions were completed with high quality at a reasonable price. They provided a fabulous design for this room that met all our requirements and they added unique design features that we did not think about such as the brilliant connection of the hallway to the garage and the porch. Walking from our kitchen to the porch room without having to go outside is very convenient and we use this room more because of this feature. We did not know how to solve the roof line problem, but Mendiola Remodeling found a solution. Mendiola Remodeling used their many years of experience with remodeling projects to make an excellent addition to our home. Before we had this room, we liked sitting in our open patio, but we were frequently bothered by mosquitos or other bugs. Now we sit in this room every morning, drink coffee, open the windows and listen to the birds without being bothered. We had many thoughts about the design of this room and with the help of Mendiola Remodeling, it turned out better than we thought it would be possible. We have options in the porch room of using the ceiling fan with the window open or close the windows and use the mini split HVAC system. The porch room does not get too hot because it does not get direct afternoon sun making it more enjoyable in the afternoon. We really like the custom-built triangular windows used to maximize sunlight in the room. The direction of the room is perfect for watching the sun rise. read more

My husband and I recently relocated to the Katy area from Pittsburgh and needed a general contractor to update and repair several things around our house (20 year old home that had not had much upkeep or updates in the last 5 to 7 years). After being referred to Miguel by a work colleague, we worked with Miguel on a long list of projects. Miguel and his business partner, Rene, also added a smart home / entertainment system (Control4) to the house that is truly top of the line and makes living in our new home so enjoyable and will be wonderful for when we host family and friends. Throughout the entire process, Miguel was very responsive and professional and became a trusted advisor for all things related to our home projects - Miguel's crew does excellent work and we know it's being done the right way. We also appreciate that Miguel will also be honest and frank with us when we come to him with an idea - we know he'll tell us if there is a more cost efficient way to accomplish what we want (while still doing it the right way), and he will tell us if there is a better way to do something. If you have any sort of construction or remodeling project, we would definitely recommend Miguel and Mendiola Remodeling & Construction. We've done other renovation projects at our our prior home, but Miguel is by far the best contractor we've worked with. When we started our kitchen remodel project, we contacted three different companies. Mendiola Remodeling was the third company we reached out to. When Miguel dropped by, we told him everything we wanted to do with the kitchen, and he proposed some additional ideas we hadn't even considered. We liked them all, including making our tiny pantry a foot deeper with pull out drawers, flattening our two-tier countertop into a much larger, single level counter, and moving our microwave to a hanging cabinet next to the fridge in order to add a stylish hood in its place over the stove. On day one, Miguel's crew came out and demoed the entire room all the way down to the studs! During the entire project, they were very mindful of protecting everything outside their scope of work, including putting up a clear plastic wall to partition the kitchen from the rest of the house. Each day, the guys would come in and work diligently, and they always cleaned up any mess at the end of the day before leaving. We are very pleased with the results! Mendiola Remodeling did an outstanding job bringing our 1980's kitchen into the 21st century! They were very professional master craftsmen, paying special attention to the most intricate details, and the level of artistry and craftsmanship - as you can see from the photos - went well above and beyond expectations! We contacted Miguel for an appointment to discuss a kitchen remodel as he came highly recommended from a colleague. With the budget we had in mind, we expected that we would have to keep the layout of our kitchen but do more of a kitchen refresh than a full blown remodel. However, when we met with Miguel he listened to our ideas and sketched out a significant redesign. The kitchen design planned for removing any walls between kitchen and other rooms, increasing the ceiling height, and reformatting the layout all within our budget. Obviously design is just the beginning of the project, but Miguel really followed through on the overall execution in all regards, often having 5+ people at the house working simultaneously to get ahead of schedule. We ended up gutting nearly half of the house to fully open up the kitchen, dining room and living room while also redoing the half bath near the kitchen. The new kitchen is now unrecognizable and stunning and the half bathroom is spacious and so much more usable. Miguel was present for all meetings. No remodel project is without its hiccups, which in our case was a paint supplier messing up their colors, but Miguel worked with the supplier to remedy the issue and get back on track as quickly as possible. Miguel was impressive from our very 1st meeting. He has an amazing eye for what could be, and for that reason we absolutely love our new kitchen and master bathroom remodel. We wouldn't have had the "wow" factor, if not for Miguel's expertise. We completely gutted both rooms, moving walls and doorways, built custom cabinets, changed out all tile flooring, repainted and textured the entire downstairs, and re-arranged plumbing. We now have a more open floor plan, opening up the kitchen to the living room, and a much bigger feeling master bathroom (in the same small space). We also wanted a custom shed built to replace an older shed, thanks to Miguel's input, my husband is thrilled with his "man cave" attached to the side of the garage. Miguel has great insight on how to make a space work effectively to accomplish your desire, keeping up with current trends. Miguel never tried to over sell us, and as we navigated our 1st home remodel, we realized there were a few more things we wanted him to tackle for us. Even with the additional work, the project completed timely. What engaged us about Miguel from the very beginning was his genuine desire to make us happy, and deliver a quality product. I hired Miguel and his crew once before to replace the roof and gutters in my home. I was so impressed with their work that I hired Miguel and his crew again for turning a 4 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath home into a 5 bedroom and 3 baths by adding a closet in a downstairs room and a shower in the half bath. They did a lot of work because everything needed to be move around to make room for the shower to include re-route my a/c intake vent. Miguel came and took time to measure and come up with a great solution to close up the room and add a closet in it and add shower in my half bath. The workers showed up on time and were always professional and did great work, from the workers who worked on the walls, to plumbers, painter, structural experts, ceramic workers, and carpenters. I was really impressed with his team's professionalism and work ethic. Miguel was flexible with my schedule and payment plan. Miguel cares a lot about quality of work and material used. I'm very happy with the final result and will hire Miguel Mendiola again for future work needed in my home. read more

Miguel gave us a fair quote and a timeline of approximately 4 months to complete. He met this timeline with very few delays. I presented him with an unusual challenge; which was to complete the remodeling project 100% in Texas, while I was in California. This included shipping supplies to his business location, coordinating deliveries, verifying the right materials were delivered, and in tact. Also, communicating with me progress and/or challenges faced. He succeeded without fail! His workers respected my property and did a fabulous job on the exterior and Interior of the house. I would highly recommend Mendiola Remodeling & Construction. I have now renovated 4 different rooms and they are by far the best company that I've worked with. Their work was flawless, it was performed w/in the timeframe they gave me and they cleaned up every day. Part of their work also included re-doing some of the work by other companies. They do things the right way and don't cut corners. Miguel has a "Dream Team" of workers and it shows in their work that perfection is something pushed down from the top. I would like to start off by saying that the tradesmen that work for Mendiola Remodeling are skilled, hard workers that use the right materials for the job and do quality work. I am therefore giving them five stars for the quality of their work. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Mendiola for small to medium-sized renovation jobs, unless (1) you work from home and (2) have an *extremely* flexible schedule. The reason for this is that they do not do a good job of scheduling the different phases of the project with you ahead of time. We had to follow up each phase of the work with a text message asking when the next phase would begin. Mendiola Remodeling & Construction built an extended patio on my home. The job did take longer than expected but the quality more than made up for it. Miguel was amazing at understanding exactly what we wanted even when we were not exactly sure ourselves. All of his various crew were professional and always picked up after themselves. He stuck to the budget. Towards the end of the project there was a mix up with the painters and they painted a large area the wrong color. Miguel had them fix the mistake and did not charge me for the mistake. I highly recommend Mendiola Remodeling & Construction if you are looking for high quality work and are willing to be a little patient to get the best job possible. read more

Very disappointing to learn that Mendiola Remodeling currently has over 170 photos of Premier Remodeling & Construction's "before" and "after" project photos posted on their website and are using Premier's photos to represent their own work under "References". Fortunately, Premier's professional photographer, Michael Hart, has a service that regular scans the internet for his copyrighted photography and came across Mendiola's website and Premier's photos. Mendiola has been contacted by Mr. Hart's attorney to remove the photos immediately but as of today, they're still up. Miguel and his team have done an incredible job on our house on two separate occasions. He handled the permitting process in West University Place, and executed a remodel of two bathrooms and two kids rooms for one project (which we get compliments on frequently) and a more repair-type project replacing the siding on a large part of our property. The remodel project was not simply a facelift, it involved restructuring and replumbing several rooms, and Miguel's insights were invaluable throughout the process. We needed to convert our old well worn house into our forever home, and Mendiola Remodeling was the best decision we could have made. We completely remodeled the master bed/bath with a new curbless shower, and expanded the closets. They pulled out an old unused fireplace, totally remodeled the kitchen, replaced over 1000sqft of flooring, replaced nearly all the drywall, added wall and ceiling insulation, new lighting, new fixtures, new wiring, new plumbing... ...and all of it came out beautifully and at a reasonable price.
