I went in looking for a piece of marble for a shower seat I'm building. The lady, who later told me she was the owner's mother, was very helpful in showing me all the types of marble, and going through pricing with me. She estimated $180 plus tax. I told her I would email her son to confirm order. I emailed Lucas Olivera the interaction I had with the lady in his showroom and all the details of my needs. He thanked me for my business and sent me an estimate for a little over $200. I didn't mind it much. The estimate also stated "the color I have is pure white quartz." Colors have strange names so I paid no mind and in later emails I always referred to the piece as marble. He ignored my wording and from there on referred to it as "the piece." I asked for pictures to make sure it was what I wanted, but when I realized he was never going to send them I put the order in anyway. I went to pick up the piece to find he had made it from engineered quartz. I hated it. I couldn't take it. He told me he stated quartz, so I looked back on the emails and saw how he had worded it. Thinking it was a simple misunderstanding, I asked if we could do the piece in marble like I've been asking from the very beginning. He emailed me that marble is more expensive and would be $430. What a waste of time! First he makes my order in whatever he wanted ignoring my request, charges me the same amount his mother estimated for marble, and then tries to charge me over double the price. We looked at two places (one was way expen$ive and the other had horrible customer service) when my husband suggested here. It's right around the corner from his work and many of his coworkers have used Mendoza and we're happy with them. We stopped out on a Saturday afternoon. The young lady was very helpful and gave us a lot of information, including pricing upfront. We went out back to find a slab and she was patient with me as I insisted at looked at every slab and ended up picking the first she suggested. We selected our edge cut and sink type and wrote the contract. The installers were just as efficient. They showed up on time to measure and install and worked quickly and professionally. Since we were going to a below mount sink, they even suggested we move our water turn offs so we could still access them after! Very helpful! We are so happy with our new counters! read more

We contracted Mendoza to manufacture our granite kitchen countertops and breakfast bar. Their craftsmanship is superb and pricing was reasonable. We got to pick our slab from a number of samples, which I really liked since no two slabs are likely identical. The only reason for 4-stars instead of 5-stars was that we had a manufacturing defect with the stainless steel sink and it took awhile for it to be remedied. Though when they did the reinstall was perfect. Additionally we returned for another piece of granite to make a shelf, which was done to perfection, however the girl on the phone didn't quite get what I was explaining and got pretty nasty with me. Not good customer service - needs to be improved. I would however not hesitate to purchase from them again as the workmanship is superior as is the quality of the granite. It took weeks to finally commit to this place for our counter tops...which were beautiful. It took a phone call(s) afterwards, with horrible, degrading customer service (Lucas) to never use or say a kind word about this company. Buyers beware...anyone can sell counter tops...sad. read more

Wanted to go to Mendoza for obvious reasons. Small family ran business with years of experience being open, really good option to finance for 0% and nice overall helpful people upon arrival. I paid extra to have the "protection package" put on my countertops, but that came to show that it did very little. I paid over $100 per sq ft for a very small space(45 sq ft). A few weeks after installation, I noticed the corner of my countertop begin to turn yellow. It only turned yellow due to the fact that it was a chip filled in with cheap glue. I would have been totally okay with them fixing it but was told I would have to pay for it. Very disappointing and they did not do right by the customer. I wouldn't recommend this business if you are remodeling because they clearly do not stand by their product that they produce sadly. read more

Horrible experience. When taking out countertops scratched and chipped my cabinets left holes in walls and seemed unprofessional. Five months later have leak under sink because of shoddy plumbing leaving me with rotted cabinet floor and needing a paint job on ceiling of room below. When my plumber addressed this with them they disregarded anything he said and apparently don't care that the finished project was inferior at best. Go elsewhere read more

I decided to go with Mendoza because its a local family owned business, and I have always felt like family owned businesses put more effort and care into their work. Sadly I was wrong. I had a counter installed in my kitchen a few weeks ago. Upon completion of the installation I noticed the area around the seam of the counter top was hazy. I have been busy with starting a family and other more important life priorities that I put off the hazy part of the counter for a few weeks thinking that all it needed was to be cleaned off. Keep in mind that the kitchen has not been used since the counter was install and we are in the process of remodeling it so nothing has been stored or put on the counter. Once I had some free time I tried to clean up the hazy area of the counter and realized it was residual glue that was wiped off from the seam area that was never completely removed from the counter. The glue had hardened and it left a cloudy coat around the seam area of the counter. I showed this to a few friends and even a contractor all of which said it was obvious it was glue that was not properly cleaned off the counter top. I contacted Mendoza to have them come to my house and fix their mistake even sending them an obvious picture of the hazy area. They told me they couldn't tell from the picture, however everyone else I showed the picture to saw it with no problem. I went back and forth with them for a few days. They had all these absurd excuses to try and get out of their mistake. Ultimately Mendoza offered to come look at the counter top for $150 with no guarantee that it could be fixed. I live 16 miles from them and I am sure to fix the counter will take no more than 30 minutes of buffing and glue removal. What business makes a mistake on a job and says they are going to charge you to attempt to fix their mistake? They want to make an extra $150 off of me for a job that was never done properly, so they can squeeze some more money outta me. Basically in the end Mendoza used a few excuses for why they wouldn't come back and fix it for free, all of which basically just showed they don't backup their work and they pointed the finger at me for their mistake, saying I waited to long (3 weeks) saying that I had the chance to inspect it when it was done (my wife is pregnant and was home when it was installed with the fumes so she didn't look at it that closely). Sadly home depot would have done a better job for cheaper, and it upsets me to think a local family owned business would do such a sloppy job and not back up their work. In addition to the hazy area the two pieces of granite that they glued together aren't even perfectly lined up and there is a little lip from one to the other. I didn't even bother to get into this with them as I was going to let it slide, but since they won't even fix the hazy area of the counter where they left glue I figured I would make everyone aware of the sloppy and poor work this place does. Do not use this place unless you want to be stuck with a crappy job that they will double charge you to fix. read more

Normally I wouldn't take the time to respond to your response with an update Mr. Lucas O., but I feel that in the interest of others that have found my review useful, it is important to point out the grave inaccuracies your posted, and the seemingly disingenuous nature of your response to my review. First I am NOT well aware that your "family means well and works to please..." To support my statement, I'd like to refer readers and potential patrons to the date my review was posted and the date of your response, (which was 3 months later.) In addition, before my review of your company, I wrote to you personally after repeated calls for months, and offered you the opportunity to resolve this issue before I posted a negative review. Since I never received a response from you or anyone from your company once they inspected the huge crack in our granite, I would say that qualifies you and your family as individuals who do NOT "work to please", and do NOT "mean well." Most importantly, we do NOT have and have NEVER had a water tank outside of our home anywhere on our property. Further, directly behind our granite counter and sink is a lovely outdoor patio that has been there for many years, (and well before the 12 years ago that we bought our home)! Apparently you are confusing us with another dissatisfied customer. It was YOUR company installer that said through the translator he brought with him, that he had never seen granite crack the way ours has, and that it could only have been from a "leaky faucet". In closing, you have a forum with YELP to make this right, and turn things around for the company you manage for your family. You can feel free to interact with me via this site or to email me. If you genuinely offer a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee to your clients, then you will arrange to replace the granite at no cost to us. Initially service was good. However one of the pieces we purchased broke in half while placed on a soft surface. When we looked, it had obviously been glued and the glue didn't hold. They refused to replace the piece and we were told it was our problem. So to sum up, they were good until they got our money, then lousy service. Do not recommend. read more
