Ill start this by saying customer service is tough, and the team there is clearly dealing with a labor budget that doesn't benefit the team or the customer. I should have known what I was getting in to when I was asked twice to write a review before even getting my card charged for the rental, it was a precursor to how everything else went as if you have to beg for reviews your likely getting some poor ones. My main gripe with them is we went in for a fitting, the first guy measuring couldn't have cared less. When coming in to try on the rental pants were noticeably short, was told no problem was given a time to come back, I should have tried on again as the pins were still in them and the length was awful, my money is on the tailor never got around to it. Once actually in the event you realize it doesn't matter if it was thrifted or custom tailored if you're with good people you'll have fun. Moral of the story is be cautious if going to men's Wearhouse in the spring as the number of rentals vast and the amount of people working is not enough to give you your money's worth. If you go with men's Wearhouse you may end up paying full price to go over and AI retouch all my photos so my socks are not prominently featured in our photos On a positive note I think the one helpful person was named, Clearence, very nice and hospitable, everyone seems to be worn out (I wrote this before logging on to yelp, reading a review from 2013 stating that "they had three tailors on sight to make adjustments" was simply not my experience read more

Jalen was the sales representative who helped me and he was fantastic. Approached me very quickly after walking in, listened to what I was looking for and swiftly found me options. He's very personable and made sure not only that I was taken care of but that other customers and their needs were tended to as well. The service was exceptional. I ordered a tux rental while in Harrisburg PA and shipped it to DC for the same day of an event in DC, and they had exactly what I had ordered, it fit perfectly, they assisted me with my questions about parts of the outfits, and even made me laugh. The staff in Harrisburg was also great. I will definitley be returning to this chain and would recommend them! read more

I had one of the oddest experiences in a store I've ever had. The worst customer service from the beginning welcome with her back to me and then the other sales person just appeared nervous. I did buy one thing. I just need not go to any Men's Warehouse. The one in Waldorf was no better. I think I didn't fit their clientele model. Even when I tried to express how disappointed and awkward it all was, the sales person clasped their hands together and started bowing to apologize. it was weird !!!!! read more

I like Men's Wearhouse in general and this location continues that trend. Good quality suits and clothing. Can be a bit pricey as marked but they have many many sales throughout the year. Buy one suit, get one free etc. Since I am a fashion luddite, I appreciate their suggestions for matching items (ties, shirts, belts, and so on) so I have at least one outfit that matches. No hard sell, just suggestions. They also do free tailoring for life on suits you buy from them. Join their reward program and you get $$ to spend after you spend so many dollars and also email specials. I bought a $99 pair of shoes today for $21. This location has friendly and helpful staff as I have experienced at other locations. read more

I've been fitted at men's warehouses before but this one doesn't even match the quality or service of any I've been to. The staff here is nice, but they are not the most flexible or pro active about their job. When trying on a suit for my friends wedding, they immediately said they got my sizes right after one try. Even when i said I might gain some weight in the course of two months and wanted to see other options, they seemed like they were in a rush. I also couldn't tell the difference between who was working and who was a customer. The person who rang me up was wearing a jean jacket--not like you need to dress to impress here, but at least wear a name tag! Overall, I am glad I don't need to pick up my suit here and just got the process over with, but would not suggest this place unless you really need to! read more

On two occasions, this store has come through for me. Once for a funeral and once for a wedding. They are attentive and considerate. Most importantly, their tailor is second to none. I called with an urgent need of a garment bag in advance of a flight to a wedding. The man I spoke to on the phone, Darrell (?), was so nice and let me know they had literally just opened a box to put on the shelves. I had a great experience here today, by accident. I was wearing a Charles Tyrwhitt suit and lost a coat button. I stopped by the Charles Tyrwhitt store on CT Ave. and asked if they could hook me up. The kid said, "You need to go to a fabric store." OK. I stopped two doors down at Men's Wearhouse (haven't been to one in years). I showed Darnell my problem and, without any hesitation, he took my jacket to the back to get a button sewn on. While I was waiting, he told me about sales and specials. I was cleaning out my closet a few weeks back and noticed I've got a lot of suits that I just don't wear anymore, mostly 'cause they looked better on me 5 or 6 years ago. Yet I'd still like to have one or two more really nice suits in my wardrobe. Now I've never bought a suit at a department store, and there's pretty much no way you'd ever get me to change my mind. Look at the selection at your average Macy's or Nordstroms. Oh, if you like the same black or navy suit that every other man in DC wears (be sure to add wrinkles for the "just slept on a park bench" look that's so popular with men's suits in DC), then man, you've found Nirvana! And there's always that same, tired old man working there that looks like they're just running out the clock. Hardly an environment that makes me willing to shell out a good deal of money for a suit (and it seems they never have any sales, or if they do, it's always on stuff I'd never wear. Wanna get on my good side? Invent a time machine, travel back in time, meet the guy who invented seersucker, and beat the hell out of him). Fortunately, The Men's Wearhouse is my saving grace! Now listen, you're not gonna find any suits by Gucci, Armani, or Dior, so HARDKORE fashionistas would do well to lie down for the rest of this review. What The Men's Wearhouse does is offer a good selection of suits in modern cuts and stylish designs. Yeah, if you absolutely need your Generic Black Suit, you'll find it here. But you'll also get plenty of earthtones and windowpanes too. I really love three-piece suits, and they're damn near impossible to find. But I was able to find two of 'em here just the other day (rubs hands with glee!). Plus, as benefits a chain store, if you see something you like, just not in your size, they can get it from another store at no extra charge and it only takes a few days. Tailoring is done on-site, and the rates are reasonable. But the best part is that if they make a specific alteration (like the waist or sleeves), if you ever need to have it modified in the future, they'll do it for free! They try to go for a modern vibe in there... plenty of modern styled ties (sorry, you probably won't find many regimental stripes or paisley bombs here, but that's not a bad thing now, is it?), and there's always smooth jazz muzak going. I think they're trying to corner the late 20s to mid-40s crowd specifically, so most of you will feel comfortable in this environment. Sales staff are friendly without being cloying or clingy. And while I know they do it to boost sales, while you're having your pants fitted, they'll match several shirt and tie combos against your jacket. There's no hard sell, but I always pick at least one of their suggested ties since I don't want to get back to my place only to discover nothing I have matches :( Also, for the more fashion challenged, they'll explain why they picked out the shirts and ties that they did, so now you have no excuse to pester the cute girl at Macy's with a "Does this tie go with these pants?" inquiry. The verdict: You're saving at least $100 or more vs. department store suits, and you're getting a much sleeker, more modern assortment too. Unless you just have to have "Ralph Lauren" written on a spot on your jacket that no one's gonna see anyways, this place gets my vote for one-stop suit shopping! read more

Maybe all Men's Wearhouse employees are disgruntled. I was hoping that this location would be better, but it wasn't. Here's why: The lady who helped us had this attitude like she didn't care and didn't want to be there. "That suit looks good," was her requisite response with no eye contact. To be honest, I didn't think the suit was flattering on my boyfriend, but once you've rented a tux, what are you supposed to do? They can't really change anything. I called again a few days later to find out their store hours for Labor Day (yes, they're open) and I KNOW it was the same lady who picked up the phone. Same tired attitude and voice, "I don't know, let me check," click and I was on hold. I was on hold for a minute, which was fine, but c'mon... you can't tell me your store hours? OK, maybe I shouldn't be so angry because she might be new, but jeez, this lady is representing Men's Wearhouse. Not a good impression. Not that it matters to me much because I'm a woman and won't be renting a suit myself, but if my boyfriend or any guy friends need suits, I'll make a point to tell them to avoid any of the Men's Wearhouses. read more

The level of unprofessionalism from the Asian taylor "Sue" was unlike anything I've ever seen. So bad that it clouded the good service the other associates were offering. The worst part is that she was so nice and respectful to the other white customers, but treated me like I was wasting her time and yet I was there to buy 2 suits. We are using this location for the groomsmen attire for our summer wedding. When the groom and best man came in, the associates were very helpful in choosing the suit options and making sure they go the best deal. Staff was knowledgeable and patient. The groom will be returning to purchase his suit and many of the groomsmen will get their alterations done here. Tip: Check online and at Bridal Expos for great discounts here. I have been to plenty of men's warehouses before. I have rented many tux's from them. This one is just poorly run. I went in for a tux for a friends wedding. The girl was pleasant, but that was all I got. They had the tux delivered the day before the wedding (that wedding was in another state 6 hours away) and when I put it on (since I was unable to try it on there) the pant legs were made for a 8 year old girl, the shoes were 2 sizes to big and the shirt was for an obese man with dwarfism. I had to stand in front of a congregation for 1 1/2 hours in a tux that was pleading for death along with my own body gasping for blood flow. To top the whole ordeal off, the charged us 100$ late fee even when I told them I needed a later return. I will never be going to one of these again. read more

Terrible experience; will not be returning. Some highlights: I explained that I was there to rent a tux for a wedding. Ten minutes and several conversations with different staff members later, they were still unsure why I was there. -1 for not listening. I explained that I knew my exact size and measurements. The clerk still pulled out his measuring tape and insisted on measuring me. A week later, I picked up a jacket and pants a full-size too large. My shirt, well, that was so big I could have made a tent out of it. -1 for not listening. The quality of the shirt and the tux was really bad; fraying fabric, 80's style shoulders, and fabric not looking clean. -1 for the whole experience. Next time, I'll go somewhere else. read more

As usual I made my weekly visit to MW on Conn Ave in DC. For the discerning gentleman who enjoys working with a female clothing associate, you NEED to drop by now and meet the newest sales rep here! An extremely articulate and knowledgable young lady who is so easy on the eyes I ended up buying tow shirts just to converse with her. The Egara line of shirts are well made and snazzy for both casual and business attire. Bought the entire line of new colors I think! I am very picky when it comes to the way clothing fits. Nothing worse than an overly baggy shirt or pants that are either too long or too short. This place has a tailor right on sight to measure out your stuff for reasonable prices. All in all a very pleasurable shopping environment (beautiful addtion aside) and fun place to stop by when they know you by first name! I want to like Men's Wearhouse so badly because they have such good sales. 2 suits for the price of one? Hell yeah! But, the customer service as this place is just so terrible that I'll take a pass. The first time I came here, I was looking to buy a new suit for job interviews. That's not something you can just pick off the rack. That's what the employees are for. After browsing around for about 10 minutes without anyone so much as looking at me, I decided to leave because I just couldn't handle this nonsense. On my way to the door, someone stopped me and asked if I had been helped. From there, things went ok. I tried on a few suits and ended up getting two for the price of one. Awesome. I came back a few days later to pick up both my tailored suits. The same guy that had helped me try on all these suits didn't even recognize me. I will remember that, Enoch. Because I spent so much on my suits, I earned $50 back to spend in the store. I've been back a couple of times to browse but the employees are just SO terrible (bored looks, playing on their phones, bad attitudes) that it's been a chore to get this money off my hands. I guess I'll have to keep browsing their website and hope that I can find something that isn't dad jeans or has a size 50 waist. read more

We went to several Men's Wearhouse's in the area for our wedding party, but especially liked this one for its great customer service. We worked with Rodrick Barton, who was fantastic! He has a really modern sense of style, so it felt more like we had a personal stylist than just a customer service rep. The service was comparable to any high end mens fashion boutique. Because of Roger, my fiancé looked like a page out of GQ magazine for our wedding. Super happy with the service, tailoring and quality. read more

I'm not one to make issue out of small things but I simpky could not help but respond to my experience at this store today. Upon my arrival, I was greeted warmly but it quickly began to change as time went on. From the non-working Air conditioning on a 92 degreeday or the manager on staff, very flippantly telling me that the rules on alterations I was told were false, I quickly felt like the bait and switch were in play. I've purchased a number of suits from this franchise and more specifically from this location quite often. Today I did not recognize a single face in the store. Whether I purchased my suits from Men's Wearhouse was called into question and the tailoring costs seemed overly inflated to me. As a staff member attempted to give me clarity, the manager (in front of me) swiftly chastised the staff member and told him to be quiet and that he'd handle this issue. The staff member and I were both quite surprised and looked at one another in awe as we were having a pleasant exchange I he began to assuage my feelings of being swindled and mishandled as a regular customer. I initially came to this location because I met a wonderful staff member and an likable manager who convinced me to give them a shot as they have seen me often coming out of Rochester Big and Tall right next door. They've held my business for over 5 years because of their service and ability and willingness to assist me. Today...well let's just say, I'm walking next door to see what my old friends at Rochester can do for me. I do hope for better for other customers than I received myself. Amazing customer service! I went in to check out some suits for my weddings rehearsal dinner. I didn't realize they closed at 8pm. Darnell politely notified me they had been closed for 15 mins, but still helped me quickly purchase a shirt on my way out! He even gave me his business card to assist with my suit purchase at a later date. Go see Darnell and the great staff there. And yes price and selection are hard to beat. read more

I was in a rush to the airport and realized I may need a sport blazer for an event. I go into Men's Wearhouse telling Keith, the sales person, I'm in a hurry and need a black sport blazer asap. I try on the first one and I don't like the way it fits or looks but Keith insists it can be altered and the buttons I don't like can be replaced. He also assured me that I have 90 days to return it if ultimately I don't like it. With that assurance I decide to purchase the blazer. At the checkout Keith suggests that I wear it out since I'm in a rush. I tell him that's a good idea and so I pay and wear the blazer out. It turns out I didn't even need the sport blazer. It's been hanging in my closet since my weekend trip in the beginning of October. I knew I had 90 days to return it and it always slipped my mind to do so until yesterday when I had time to myself to shop and of course return a few items. I talk to the person in the front counter and ask to return the item. He asked if it has been worn and I told him I wore it once out the door for an hour but that's it. I then explain the assurances that Keith gave me and that's why I was comfortable buying it in the first place. He states I can't refund the money but can give me store credit. I tell him I would like a full refund. He tells me since it's been worn then he can't give me a refund. I tell him if that's the case why did Keith suggest I wear it out of the store after assuring me that I have 90 days to return it? That he didn't have an answer to he just repeated that he can't refund the money. Not satisfied I take the jacket and decide to call the 1800 number of Men Wearhouse customer service. I get a hold of Herb and I explain the situation to him. He tells me what he can do is call the district manager to make a determination on the jacket and the district manager will call me back. I get a call from the DM about 20 minutes later. I thank him for the fast response and then I explained to him the situation. He tells me the same thing the person at the store tells me but without looking at the jacket himself as Herb said he would. They will offer store credit but no refund. Obviously I'm not satisfied so I reiterate what deceitful business practice I was suckered into by their salesmen. How can you assure me I have 90 days to return the item if I don't like it and also suggest I wear it out the door thereby voiding any refund (at the discretion of the manager)? in reponse to that the DM says that when I bought the blazer I should have been aware of the return policy since it's written on the back of the receipt. Right, so I'm supposed to be aware of the store return policy written on the back of a receipt before I buy an item. Does that make any sense? This guy is now being a smarty pants. And you know what it says in the back of the receipt? Altered or worn clothes will be refunded at the discretion of the manager. So they can return worn clothing but the DM decided not to even though he hasn't seen the blazer himself! This is not over. I'm barraging every outlet I have including the BBB. This is decietful business practice and poor customer service. I will never buy anything from there again and I certainly will go out of my way telling my friends, coworkers and family to avoid this business at all costs. I signed up for a yelp account just to write a review of this store. This morning I hit the gym at work and, as I was getting dressed after, realized I had forgotten my belt. As if this wasn't bad enough, I had a very important brief scheduled for 9:15, with the head of my agency. "Holy crap, I'm going to look like a homeless person!" I thought to myself. I did a quick internet search for the closest mens clothier, and this store was the result. I called the phone number, hoping to get a recording with their store hours on the chance I could get there and back in time for my meeting. Well, at 6:45 in the morning, someone (Anthony) answered the phone! I explained the situation and asked when they opened. He just said "Come on by and knock on the door and I'll take care of you." Hopped on the metro, ran to the store, and it was just as he said. I grabbed a belt, paid, and was back on the metro in five minutes. I was ready for my meeting with time to spare. That is some rare, quality customer service. read more

I set up a group deal with them because I was planning a black tie event at the Mayflower (across the street). For the record, it was really easy to set up the group rate -- but that's where it ends. Upon arrival, I had to actively seek out someone to speak to (and it was 11am on a Thursday, not exactly rush hour for a suit store). It took them 45 minutes and several phone calls to figure out which group I was a part of, but they eventually got it right. They had a VERY limited selection of tuxedos for purchase, despite my telling them 3 weeks in advance that as many as 300 people may come to this location from our event alone. I get that it was prom season...but a lot of us were BUYING tuxes - not renting. After about 45 minutes of hard sales pitches, I walked out the door having spent about $500. When I came back to pick up the Tux 3 days later (after alterations had been made), I once again had to actively seek out an employee to help me. He came back up with my $500 tux in a plastic garment bag and said..."you're all set!" I asked him if I could have a suit bag, to which he replied, "oh we don't have any more of those. Come back later and grab one if you feel like it." Sorry....what?? This is a SUIT STORE. I asked how that could be possible and got a rude and dismissive response. My girlfriend works near there so a few weeks later I sent her back with my receipt to go get a bag for the tux. They told her they were all out and that they were "on order." After arguing with the manager for a few minutes, he went into the back and got her one, and then rudely said, "come back when we get more in and i'll give you as many suit bags as you want." I know there aren't a lot of other options in the DC area...but seriously...unless you feel like being treated like shit by classless customer service staff, read these reviews and go somewhere else. read more

Moreover, the tuxedo I was renting was on sale for only $130! REALLY?!? Hot!!! Went in and worked with Adam. He was rushing between customers and made me wait several times -- despite the fact there were other employees that clearly could have helped. I ordered a tuxedo, and he said he would call me in a week when it arrived. When I didn't get a call from him over a week later, I called the store -- no tuxedo. Sam, my consultant, and the management were so helpful in getting me a new suit and unwinding the mess from the previous location.
