The drink was super creamy and the liquor blends nicely with the coffee, I give it a 7/10. The Lychee to the Limit was also really refreshing and it had a hint of spices, which made it really unique, I give it a 7.5/10. My husband and I went here for a surprise dinner. This place has been on our list for a long time. Meo is a hidden bar inside of a restaurant called Wokker. When you come in, look for the cat like door, you see in the video and lift the frame to press the button and the door automatically open untouched. If you can't find it for some reason, ask one of the cashiers and they can point you in the right direction. When you go into the bar, the light is very dim but they are lamps on your table if you need to make it brighter so you can see. The table and chair is stable and we really liked our waiter. He did speak a bit too fast for my husband to hear but doesn't mind repeating a few things for us. The decoration along the walls are really cute and set the mood. The noise level was perfect, but we came early evening before the bar crowds. This place will be really good for a dinner date or drinks after dinner date. Or an intimate hangout with a group of four friends. We ordered the green mango salad, crispy pork belly, roasted fish, and kimchi butter dumplings. I really like the green mango salad. I would get that again. The roasted fish was pretty good, but I would like more fish. The crispy pork was great. The kimchi butter dumplings was not as spicy as I thought it would be. I don't think it had any spiciness to it. With the main entrées, it was basically 33% veggies 33% carb 33% meat ratio. it's not a bad ratio you eat normally everything but if you lean towards one area of the food pyramid, this might be a little bit difficult to enjoy. Now for the drinks, we had a house shot and xe om, nonalcoholic . The house shot is time limited but the one we had this night was amazing and we encouraged our waiter to pass the idea of making it a part of their usual menu in the future. Xe om was okay, there was jelly bits in there that was hard to get to but was yummy. Not picture is Dark Matter, amazing, and PanDAM Kat, refreshing and tropical but a bit grainy. Keep in mind, they make all their ingredients in house so things like their kimchi may be slightly different every cycle or so. Meo bar has amazing drinks. First time visiting a hidden bar and thanks to Meo, it won't be my last. This cozy speakeasy lies behind the walls of Wokker, an Asian-Southern American fusion restaurant. I love everything about the interior! The designs of koi, lanterns, and chandeliers look elegant and stunning. Throughout open hours, lighting remains romantically dim with red lamps hanging over certain seats. The atmosphere contrasts so drastically with Wokker, which would otherwise appear as a normal restaurant with a cute cat painting. With the high degree of surprise that Meo offers as customers walk in, they've certainly set a high bar for themselves (no pun intended). The drinks don't quite live up to same hype as the decorations, but I still enjoyed them. The Lemongrass cocktail had a fun grapefruit taste that I found myself frequently sipping on while conversing with my friend. I never thought I'd see either earl grey or rhubarb in the ingredients of a cocktail, but it works (4.5/5). The Lychee to the Limit was merely okay. I'm not a fan of gin but I wanted to try something with lychee, so the server offered to sub it out with vodka instead. I think the tamarind ultimately threw me off. It's not for me I guess (3/5). Bars with secret entrances are better than bars with regular entrances, that's an unspoken fact. For Meo, the entrance was pretty obvious since you can see the outline of the door. And anyone with a shred of intelligence should be able to figure out how to open it lol. My friends and I were looking for a place to grab a drink after dinner. Since we weren't as familiar with the area, we browsed Yelp and decided to give Meo Bar a try. I didn't realize it was a speakeasy until I pulled into the parking lot. Parking was plentiful which is always a plus. We browsed some reviews to figure out where to go. Once inside the restaurant (Wokker HTX), we were still confused as there weren't any employees at the counter. A couple who was inside eating helped us out and eventually we made our way inside. The set up is essentially counter service. Order at the bar and they'll bring your drink to you. They do offer light bites, but we didn't order any food. The cocktails are very pretty and very good! I had the Meo G&T and Brenda's Violet Hour. I enjoyed both drinks. My friends had the Honey Bear and the Mui. My friend wanted to order one of the mocktails, but they ran out of ingredients for the drink, so they ended up comping one of her drinks. My second speakeasy ever! Had such an amazing time I'm now starting to plan a speakeasy tour w some friends. Both drinks I had were fabulous. Dark Matter & Herb Your Enthusiasm. The balsamic and ground onion rim was an unexpected delight and added a complexity of flavors that had me wanting to drink multiples to fully be able to explore the depths. The Herb Your Enthusiasm was both light and smokey at the same time. As with the Dark Matter I wanted to drink it by the gallon. Every sip had me take an extra moment to savor the multidimensional taste. Once inside, you lift the cat portrait and ring the bell, and a bartender will open the door for you. The inside is a bit small but has many seats and a dj, as well. Their menu had a lot of Asian-inspired drinks. As a Viet person and pandan enthusiast, I had to get the Pandamonium, which consisted of rum, pandan, vanilla, and banana caramel syrup-clarified milk punch. I also got the Salty Kitty , which contained salted plum-Infused vodka, orange bourbon tincture, turbinado, lemon, and egg white, and a lychee cocktail. The Panamonium was my favorite. It was smooth and not too strong and tasted like a cucumber drink with a slight pandan smell and after taste. The Salty Kitty had foam on top made from the egg whites, and it was strong with a salty and sour taste. The lychee cocktail was so cute and came with a piece of lychee candy. However, I do wish that they put actual piece of lychee, too. I went on a Thursday, and it was pretty busy but not too crowded, and I think it's a great place to bring a group of friends. I observed the bartender organizing their in-house infused liquors for their drinks. They sous-vide the alcohol with various fruit or flavors to make their cocktails extra special. I got a tamarind margarita, it was strong, slightly spicy and tangy. I also tried the lychee martini, this was slightly sweet, subtle and easy to drink. We ordered garlic chicken bites and truffle soy dumplings from the HH menu and an order bourbon soy dumplings. They were very delicious. Seasoned well, served hot and I enjoyed them. This is an absolutely spectacular little bar tucked away inside Wokker, a Latin-Asian fusion restaurant off Airline. It's a bit of an inconvenient location for us, but central enough that the majority of Houston won't have a problem with getting to it. I was pleasantly surprised to see ample parking, as Wokker is located at the end of a strip center. We managed to park right out front and walk right in. I hadn't told my wife why we were coming here, so she saw the cat murals and assumed that was the appeal-- of course, until I lifted the little framed cat and rang the bell. She was expecting music to play, not the door to open to a speakeasy style bar. Meo and Wokker are night and day. Wokker is bright and casual. Meo is much darker and upscale. There was a single bartender working the entire place, but sharing a kitchen with the public storefront meant there was ample service. We ordered the truffle soy dumplings, spicy rice rolls, and garlic sesame chicken bites off the Happy Hour menu. They were all dim sum style plates, but tasted spectacular. My wife opted for the tamarind margarita while I went with the whiskey highball. Neither was particularly impressive, but they rounded out our little trip nicely. A squad of us journeyed here after the whiskey event in spring. We arrived in the restaurant, and walked up to the car on the wall. We clicked the button, but it didn't appear to do anything, so we clicked it again. Out came a gal who said we only needed to click once. Our bad! It might be good to have a something to let us know the bar signal was activated. Maybe the cats eyes glow red? That would be sweet. Walking in, the lighting is low. Great for mood setting, but it was a lovely crowd, so definitely not a romantic vibe on this particular night. The bar was jumping, the gals were doing work! I helped host an event at the awesome speakeasy, Meo, inside Wokker on Airline. The entrance to Meo is super clever with a hidden button and then the room itself was spacious with plenty of seating. Meow! I mean if there was a place built for me, this is it. I've always been a big fan of speakeasies and it's been nice to see them sprout up around Houston recently. This one is located inside Wokker in The Heights. Not the best part of The Heights but well worth it. I stopped by on a Saturday evening. To get in, which is a lot of fun in itself, you pass by the food counter until you see a cat painting on the wall. From there, there's a cat painting that you lift up which will reveal a buzzer. Click the buzzer and they'll let you in. Once you enter, you'll experience the typically dimly-lit ambiance. It's relatively small bu the decor is cool and there's comfortable seating. They do have a nice menu of appetizers but we didn't eat on our visit. Instead, we focused on the list of eight or so craft cocktails. Meo Bar, beyond being cat-themed, focuses on Asian ingredients, so you'll see things like yuzu and lychee make an appearance on the menu. I tried three of their cocktails and they all delivered. The location is inside of Wokker the restaurant and then you walk-in and there's a cat wall that has a picture frame of a cat and you lift it up to ring the door bell. Someone will let you in! It's actually quite spacious inside too for a speakeasy. Good amount of seating spaces for 2-6 people! They had different cocktails and small bites. Ordered the rice rollls and they were made out of rice paper that's rolled up and deep fried and then sauced up with a sweet/spicy/tangy sauce. They were nice and crispy and chewy at the same time. For drinks, we ordered two non-alcoholic beverages on the norm...but added tequila to make it a cocktail. The "she's giving" and "golden moon" both with tequila and they were light/not too strong and refreshing. There's 1 bar inside and then you can use the restroom that's inside of Wokker. There is a picture of a cat that you lift up, and then you push the button. A secret door opens, and voila! There you are. The bar is dimly lit, with a modern chic vibe. We tried the blame it on the juice, salty kitty and Meo G&T, which were all excellent. Salty kitty was my fave. There were 3 drinks that were greyed out on the menu - later informed they were out, which I think is strange to still keep printed on the menu.
