    Spanakopita

    I had gotten take out from this spot a few times. But, I was missing out! Eating at Meraki was such a great experience. The restaurant is gorgeous! We were sat outside on a cool Spring night and it was so pleasant. The service was wonderful. Our servers were kind and helpful. The food... wow. So so good! That was some of the best spanakopita I've ever had. Everything was wonderful.

    I came here on New Year's Eve and thank god we made a reservation because it was packed! We started with the honey and sesame cheese puffs. It was so goooood! Crispy on the outside, cheesy on the inside. A perfect balance. We also got the mussels, but they were way too fishy and a bit disappointing. I'd skip this one. :/ We shared the churrasco skewer platter and it was delicious. The steak was super tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Perfect medium. It came with pita bread and tzatziki on the side, Greek fries (really good) and grilled eggplant, peppers, and mushrooms. Definitely enough to share! The drinks were solid. My favorite was the caipirinha. The waitress was very nice and attentive and made great recommendations. :)

    Just ok. Whipped feta was very grainy. Zucchini fritters were soggy. The filet minion I ordered medium rare and it came out extremely well done. No one checked on us throughout the dinner or asked if we wanted to order a second round of cocktails. Food was mid, I would not go back at all. When someone finally came over with the bill and asked how it was I did say something afoot the steam and they were very nice and removed it from the bill. Everything came out very fast and at once.food tasted like it had been reheated. Lack of service during the meal was problematic. Rating- B. Quality and care of food lacked and you could taste it.

    This was an amazing experience of delicious, authentic, Greek food. The service was wonderful. We had a young girl who was willing to explain all of the ethnic dishes to us. The ambiance was everything. The blue and white complimented the colors of the flag. The bar up front was nice. The place was packed on President's Day.

    While we were able to be seated on a Saturday night without a reservation, the food and service were below mediocre. The hummus was bitter, the spanakopita's crust wasn't flaky/crunchy, the souvlaki platter was a joke tbh. The chicken was burnt and dry, there were 3 end corners of tomato and ONE slice of red onion. One of our servers (maybe the manager) was so odd...she gave us a free baklava at the end of our dinner but had strict rules as to when we could eat it. We were still working on the platter and a different waiter had brought out the baklava which we thought was a nice gesture but she came out and took the baklava away and said we had to finish the platter first. Baklava was damp btw. Overall such a strange dining experience

    When I saw they offered a platter of meat, I got really excited. It came with 3 different types of meat, chicken, lamb gyro and pork. My favorite was the pork; it was flavorful. The lamb gyro had a bit of dried up meat. The chicken was a bit dry too. The tzatziki sauce was really rich and thick and helped blend it all together. It was a huge platter to enjoy and share. The pita bread that came with the platter was so fluffy and soft, I wish they had more because it was surely not enough. The veggies on the side also add a nice crunch and "healthiness". I place my order online and then saw they have a code for 15% discount when I got home; it was stapled to my order. Which was a bit sad, but it can be used next time. The restaurant is also very cute in the inside. The blue and white decor reminded me of my trip to Santorini.

    Came here with a friend tonight. The restaurant is beautiful and they did a good job there for ambiance they get a point. We sat it in the back in the patio area, it had a great feel only note was the table was dirty and I cleaned most of it myself before someone noticed and cleaned it. It seemed to just be from the elements outside but still would be nice to have it wiped down when they seated us. The service here was very nice and the food came out in a timely manner. We had the mela salad which was a dip made from eggplant. It was pretty decent and came with good pita bread. I then had a Greek salad and they definitely don't skimp on the cheese. Lastly I had the lamb kebab platter which was a lot of food and flavorful. My friend had the filet mignon kebab which he said was just ok. The restaurant was very nice and comped our dessert a baklava that was a nice way to end the meal. One thing I was disappointed in was the wine both wines I tried were not up to my standard for the price per glass.

    Assyrtiko, is chef's kiss scrumptious. I see why it is the most popular wine by the glass at Meraki.

    Came late for a dinner after a play. Loving the vibe, the warm service, scrumptious wine and delectable food. Putting Metal in our regular rotation.

    Stopped by for a late dinner after 10PM, gorgeous ambiance in the garden area with an open top towards the back. Cute decor reminiscent of Santorini with the white background and magenta colored flowers. The food itself was really solid, thick pieces of calamari and the combination platter had so many various cuts of tender meat. Greek salad was a perfect pairing to these heavier entree and appetizers as well.

    Big, meaty and grilled to perfection, Branzino!

    Somehow I just knew when I stepped in Meraki with its white stucco walls and blue shutters that I was in for an excellent Greek meal. It may also have been because i overheard one of the staffers (maybe a Manager) singing in Greek. I had the Branzino ($50) with a Greek Salad, lemon potatoes and roasted vegetables! The fish was deboned and meaty, grilled perfectly. I love when the skin is grilled crispy with a bit of char. Fantastic!! The Greek Salad was Fresh, Fresh, Fresh!! The dressing so very tasty!! The grilled vegetables fresh and roasted to perfection...you know because the sweetness of the veggie comes through. I was encouraged to try something different for my dessert. I usually do Baklava which I still ordered but in addition, I ordered the Bougatsa! My first time experiencing Bougatsa. Was sooooooo flaky, warm and yummy! The sprinkled powdered sugar and cinnamon reminds me of Ilalian Fried Dough, however, Bougatsa has more to offer with the crème center. The service was incredible. Dimitri, our server, was so accommodating and kind. Dimitri spoke with us about his hometown of Thessaloniki, Greece explaining how he came to receive his name Dimitri. Truly a kind spirit. But I think one must have a kind spirit in order to be employed at Meraki because ALL of the staff we encountered was so kind! Meraki has become my new favorite Greek restaurant in Brooklyn and perhaps all of NYC!

We ordered quite a few dishes, and the octopus was definitely one of my favorites--such a generous portion with two huge tentacles! The branzino and squid ink seafood pasta were also delicious. The pita chips were crispy and nicely seasoned with herbs, while the moussaka was rich, hearty, and packed with layers of bold Mediterranean flavors. The crispy fries with garlic oil were another hit. The cocktails were creative and impressive, and we ended with the Galaktoboureko for dessert. The creamy semolina custard wrapped in phyllo was delicious, although a little sweet for my taste. Next time, I'd probably go for the Loukoumades with Nutella pistachio sauce instead. Service was solid throughout--our waiter was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, a fun spot with great food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere for a birthday celebration!

Athena is a quaint little place with friendly staff like Stavros (I hope that's how he spells it). For an appetizer, we ordered the dip trio with hummus (which was so creamy and delicious), spicy whipped feta, and tzatziki, which was honestly the star of the trio. Stavros was also kind enough to bring us more pita bread to finish our dips! I ordered the Lamb Souvlaki, and it was amazing. Juicy and sizable cuts of lamb dipped in more tzatziki on top of a bed of fluffy rice pilaf. It's a hefty plate so I only ate about half and took the rest back to my hotel. I hope I can eat the other half before I leave! I'm also hoping there's a place in Raleigh, where I live, that can match this experience. What's not pictured is the baklava dessert, which was quickly demolished by the three of us. It was originally meant for me only, but my partner and his best friend couldn't resist multiple bites. If you love Mediterranean food and you're in New York, add this place to your list. Well worth the trip. And also ask about the "Windex" shots (;

I called to say it was a half hour late and the man who answered the phone was instantly abusive, first denying it was late then blaming Grub Hub in a tone of voice that was so nasty, I told him not to talk to a customer that way -- which only made him more abusive. I gave as good as I got -- this is New York where people you yell at yell back -- and he hung up. I cancelled the order. So I suggest that if you want to eat at Athena, go to the restaurant. If you order for delivery, it will likely come late and if you call to ask about it you may found yourself being screamed at by a psychotic who clearly shouldn't have any job that brings him into contact with the human race.
