Egg, cheese, bacon and cilantro burrito.... Yum!
    Sharon G.

Been here a couple times. Rolled tacos once and that a breakfast burrito. Fresh and delish. The bacon was crispy. Everything made fresh with a smile.

We were nearby and stopped in to check it out. It's a little store with some Latin groceries, canned goods, and hot foods. We bought some spices and headed to the counter. I noticed the arepas and ordered one, along with an al pastor taco. My fiancé ordered the carnitas taco to try and we asked for "dine in". They had some tables inside and some outside. Our food was made to order. I originally gave them my ticket but they handed me the wrong order but I had my receipt so I did get the correct order after I let them know there was a mistake. The taco was a hefty portion with a double corn tortilla. I had asked for salsa and they gave me a small portion. It was just enough salsa but I would have liked more. I was so full, I could only manage two bites of the cheese arepa before wrapping it back up to take home. Mercado Corona has some decent eats! As far as the groceries go, YMMV, so check the expiration dates before paying for your food.

I've been to this store a handful of ocassions and very spreaded out apart. EVERY SINGLE TIME they've sold me EXPIRED ITEMS. The milk on a can, the argentinian chocolate at the cashier had mold on it! And a lot of the items on the aisle were months expired. I will advice the administration to FIX this problem as I read over and over this is a HUGE problem at that store. Frustrating to have a latin store not doing great costumer service and having products that are way expired.

Porque venden productos vencidos? Abri una Inca Kola y no tenia nada de gas, cero, la bote toda. Resulta que todas estaban vencidas! No me conviene ir a devolverlas, pierdo tiempo y dinero. Solo me queda botarlas todas y perder mi dinero. Uno no puede estar mirando cada producto a ver si esta vencido o no, uno confia que son productos frescos o vigentes, no pasados, expirados o malogrados.

a hole-in-the-wall type of gem. inflation is a thing now, so I was disappointed when I heard my total cost after surrendering my money. But when I got my pastor and tilapia tacos, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. I had to take out some of the tilapia just to fold my taco lmao I've always thought tacos could be good or bad, but these were some of the best I've had from a restaurant. Meat was freshly hot, the sauce on the tilapia was nice and creamy, and the red sauce was *chef's kiss*.

I ended up having lunch @ the Mercado Corona just by happenstance. This is what happens when you arrive early before the original intended restaurant opens. (i.e. - 15 minutes to kill) Sorry Mint, I'm standing you up for Mexican today.) Store front: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mercado-corona-laguna-hills?select=nrEd0zF1r6b23qTkqjJTtg In all truthfulness, if I was going to try ANY other place within this small, congested parking, strip mall like plaza, it would've been La Michoacana. It's just a couple of doors down BUT again, I had no intention of eating any place else besides Mint Restaurant. It was just an effort to kill some time before they opened... - "Hola chica'changa!" Store front - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mercado-corona-laguna-hills?select=nrEd0zF1r6b23qTkqjJTtg&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ This entire plaza is like stepping into Little Me'hico, less the street vendors and bad water... I liked it! It's a cool little Mexican grocery mart/deli. I wish I knew what half of the items were on Mercado Corona's menu board. Back in high school I thought it was a great idea to study French and in my downtime, Japanese... It has been so very helpful, NOT. (SMH) I was hungry and slightly overwhelmed by the the predominantly non-English menu board, feeling "Lost in Mexi-cation." I wasn't too far from just saying forget it and doing an about face right out the shop. Menu board: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mercado-corona-laguna-hills?select=m-r9RE7QrHxshKrXUuuM3A The saving grace of my visit came from, Alejandra. If it wasn't for her help and patience, I would've ended up definitely ended up @ Mint for their lunch buffet. (True story.) Alejandra was great; there was another young lady prepping the agua frescas who was also very nice. Everyone else, "M'eh." Note: Mint Restaurant no longer offers lunch buffet. (Bummer.) Breaking protocol: My default, go-to, menu item of choice is an al pastor burrito, IF al pastor is offered... 'And they did! Alejandra recommended I try one of their plate lunches and I did! The al pastor was okay; the chile colorado was good. The $7.99 plate lunch came with refried beans, rice, and four corn tortillas. Fried chiles are available by request.. I found a missing salsa bar to be a bit surprising. Maybe it's all by request only and extra $$? Sells old food and the owner would not exchange it without a receipt! Never going back again.

The shop is also very well organized and their offerings range from snacks (sweet, salty, savory, mainly) to condiments, teas, coffees, sauces and spices...they even have frozen goods, some decor, and some pots. When I went, there was also a couple of discount carts. Plus, they handed out samples! I didn't recognize much, so I asked for a rundown and some recommendations, which was really helpful. I came away with some Tim Tams, Dallmayr coffee beans, Monaco espresso, Tayto chips, and some teas, cookies, and cakes to try. Service is pretty friendly, and parking is super easy in the lot.

No other market in our area, at least to my knowledge, has what Origins World Foods does. Goodies from Belgium, England, France, Scotland, Germany, Africa, and other countries are on the shelves. The cashier who has rung me up for the two visits I've made is friendly, upbeat, and efficient. A friend of mine drives from Anaheim to shop here. She is a fan of their candies and soups. For me, the candy bars, such as the Mars bars, Aero bars, and the Crunchie bars from the UK really hit the spot. Their unique tins of mints are beautiful. I like the kalfany fresh ice drops so much they have been purchased twice. There is a website for the store but I haven't used it. Me and my friend have plans to drop by soon to replenish our supplies of international foods.
