I really wanted to like this store and gave it two chances. The first time, I bought two boxes of wonton noodle soup -- the same ones I used to get at Costco. I froze them, and when my son heated one up, the broth tasted and smelled like plastic. We opened another, hoping it was a fluke, but it was the same. We ended up throwing all eight bowls away. The second time, we bought a case of coconuts with the pop-top style opening. Which was new for us. After refrigerating them, we tried one -- same issue. It had a stale, plastic-like taste. We opened another a few days later, and it was no different. We planned to return them, but got busy, and now they'll likely end up in the trash too. After two separate experiences like this, I can't afford or justify coming back. Very disappointing. read more

In store, Korean restaurants were great, and unique. My wife and I have have had Korean food before, but haven't ever seen many of the food items, before. We had Atoyubu, a brand new experience. Very good. The only negative thing I can mention is that all but most of the restaurant food servers had no English, with the exception of one counter whose server stepped in to help translate and answer questions for us. I found what I was looking for and then some. Their seafood department is wild... so many options They had tons of lunar new year cookies, cakes, and candies in brightly colored beautiful boxes. I was also looking for smoked black sesame seeds, and they had an array of different types I love this market. Very large parking lot, however on the weekends, it gets very crowded. I've been to several locations, but this is the first time I've been to a brand new one. It was so clean and better laid out than the others I've been to. I love that they have a separate bakery and cafe as well as a Chinese takeout spot. The bakery/cafe had some kinks to work out as I noticed several unhappy customers. However, the Chinese takeout spot seemed to be better run and the ladies so helpful. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. read more

A need and a great addition to this newly revamped shopping plaza. This area needed an asian market for so long and I am so glad to have this now. I went during soft opening and many other times after and 99 Ranch is your one stop shop for most of your asian food & things. I love that they have a food to go section which is so affordable (~ $4.99 +) per order of cooked food, they also have prepackaged hot food (shumai, hargow, bbq pork, etc). The grocery is stocked with all your necessities, snacks, dry goods, and the butcher/fresh seafood section in the back. This location also has a bakery with tons of sweet and savory food, drinks, and nicely decorated cakes. Helpful staff. Great food. Well stocked grocery store. read more

It is great to have a 99 Ranch open near home and that I don't have to trek out to Irvine to get my Asian groceries. I am able to stop by on my way home from work. The selection of fresh Asian produce and seasoning. The meat and seafood section has meats butchered for Asian cooking. Not to mention all the Asian snacks. The food court serves prepped dood like roast duck, dim sum, and chicken. If you stop by later during the day they have some promotional pricing to sell out the inventory. I've been to 99 Ranch Market several times since they opened. I like going to the baked goods section. From time to time, I purchase the iced coffee, black with no cream. To my palate, the iced coffee tastes like a diluted version of Starbucks Pike Place Roast. For the low cost, it is decent enough and convenient for a morning with lots to do. The beverage goes well with some of the pastries. One of my recent picks, the honey blueberry bread, combined with my caffeinated drink, produced a little kick which combatted a sleepy Saturday morning. I don't have complaints about the service. Employees in the bakery are efficient. With purchases in the market itself, I've had good experiences with the cashiers. The store, while not as useful to me as H-Mart or Tokyo Central, seems clean. I keep 99 RM in mind for the bakery or to buy Yakult or bottles of ITO EN Unsweetened Green Tea instead of driving to Irvine for H-Mart, Mitsuwa, and Tokyo Central. read more

Staff: The man at the bakery cafe that I bought watermelon juice from was nice, but the woman who helped us at the end at the same place was okay. Unfortunately, another woman employee walked rudely in my direction cutting me off without a word. However, the guys at the Otoyubo were really nice. So, overall it was hit or miss. Quality/Quantity: The store is large, well stocked, clean, and offers a ton of variety. I was quite impressed by the store. Value: I found the pricing to be fine. My watermelon juice was $3.99 which is okay I guess. Our inari at Otoyubo were priced well too. We opted for the bulgogi and eel filled. Both were delicious. Another decent experience at 99 Ranch. I arrived at about 10 AM on a Sunday with mild weather. The parking lot was less than half full. I entered the store which was well organized and clean. It smelled fresh. I really only visited the fruit and vegetable section along with some of the prepared foods and sauce aisles. And then I picked up a Chinese doughnut in the fresh prepared food items in the forward corner by the barbecue station. I did self check out so I didn't really encounter any personnel, but I did speak with one of the produce guys who was double checking the produce freshness. Always a fun experience to come through here. Some items are a better price than traditional grocery stores. read more

This is a nice neighborhood 99Ranch that opened up a few months ago. Personally, it's my favorite location in the area. I appreciate the spacious and clean layout, well stocked shelves and reasonable prices. I used to have to drive to Irvine just to get some basic Asian groceries. And I had to go to 3 different stores just to get everything I needed. Well for once I don't have to drive much and get everything all in one go. What the heck! Truly my dream come true. Additionally, I love going to the hot food section and pick up a box of juicy char sieu. They make for a really scrumptious fried rice with shrimp. Omg. Some of my biggest guilty pleasure ever. Parking here is plenty, free, and right outside the store. You can use Amex and the service here is extremely fast and efficient. I also appreciate how friendly they are. The 99 Ranch in Aliso Viejo is the nicest one I've ever visited! It's new, so it's clean and lacks that funky smell that one associated with going to the Chinese market. There's a bakery, a Luxsweet and a Atoyubu. Produce looked decent. On my last visit, I saw they had an adorable mini cart that was much better than holding a hand cart. I'd rate it higher but the refrigerated section had several empty shelves and it was only lunchtime. I wish the 99 Ranch Markets near me were as nice as this one! read more

This is a HUGE Asian + Western grocery store. Not only does it have the usual fruits & veggies but a large variety of them I've never seen before. On top, of this, it has a large selection of interesting & tasty warm & hot foods to eat in or take out. I could literally spend 1/2 a day or more, wandering around & looking at everything with intermittent snacking on their hot finger foods. We were in the area and finished a walk at a nearby park. We stumbled upon this shopping center, and I was pleased to learn about the 99 Ranch Market location. I had heard about this new store opening, but I'm not in this area often. I was excited to check it out. This is definitely the cleanest and brightest 99 Ranch Market in this area. Well, due to the fact that it's been open less than a year, it should be sparkling clean! The floors are bright and shiny, and the lighting is perfect. The shelves are neatly stocked similar to other sister stores. I picked up a few items and let the cashier know that it was my first time there. She was kind and welcoming and expressed pride in the store. Other nearby businesses include Trader Joe's, Paris Baguette, Omomo Tea Shoppe, Philz Coffee, Marugame Udon, and Daiso. I also saw a sign for VOX Kitchen coming soon. This 99 Ranch is a nice addition to the South Orange County area. Looks like I'll be visiting these other places soon! read more

It's been 2 years since they announced the opening of the 99 Ranch Market in Aliso Viejo. It's finally open! The store is open as of today for their soft open but the official Grand Opening is this weekend on April 19th at 8:30 am. My husband and I have been waiting for it to open. Well really, just me because I no longer have to drive to Irvine for the 99 Ranch when I have one down the street from my house in Aliso Viejo. If you didn't already know, 99 Ranch is a Taiwanese grocery store specializing in Asian groceries but they also carry American brands too. We wandered in after work to get some Asian goodies like the pineapple BBQ pork buns, baby bok choy, a whole fried catfish, milk tea, organic ramen, and fresh herbs. I can't even tell you how excited it makes me to have this market nearby. It's already part of my grocery shopping rotation so I'm going to be frequenting this location often. This one is located in a shopping plaza with several other stores like Daiso so you can get all your errands done in one place. I went early to avoid the parking lot issues. The store is very bright and clean. It's not as big as the other 99 Ranch markets but it has everything you need. There were some good deals on the produce. I very rarely see samples but at this market there was a whole set up in the meat section. There were demos on the Calbee chips, ramen, eels, and these Asian stuffed pancakes. They also have a bakery section and a hot food section. A huge selection of refrigerated baos. They also have a bbq section for the roast duck and bbq pork. And the bathrooms are clean! read more

Came here for the grand opening event, and the store was huge! Everything was well organized, clean, and the prices were comparable to other 99 ranches. They had a ton of promotions this weekend and we were able to pick up seafood, noodles, produce, all the goods at half off! They also had a promotion where you got $10 back and some goodies if you spent more then $100! Unfortunately, they were out of the out place steamer baskets when we went. This is much nicer than the 99 ranches in Irvine, so I'll definitely be adding this store to my rotation. While it was really busy today, the parking lot is huge so you can still find parking even when it's busy. It's next to the new daiso and marugami you can still find parking even when it's busy. Get my 25 lb of rice here whatever's on sale, chow fun fresh noodles for mid night meals, chow mein noodles. I love my Asian veggies --winter melon (they also cut this in parts so you don't have to be stuck with a ginormous melon you can't finish, okra,, pea sprouts, sugar snap peas, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms, Napa cabbage, ong Choy, bok choy, gai lan. Asian fruit for example durian, Korean pear, mangosteen, papaya (cut in half so you can see how ripe it is yay). Meat staples- get a whole brown chicken to make chicken pho, sliced wagyu beef, fish balls, salmon (can fry for free), recently got a couple crabs and asked them to steam (damn good lunch), pork shops, Longaniesa (Filipino sausages). The fruits and vegetables are always fresh, and they have cool snacks and sauces you can't find at normal grocery stores. They also have a hot food bar with cheap, tasty meals and a bakery full of yummy buns and treats. Much anticipated opening. Was here for Grand Opening Day 4/19 but there was a long line (it wrapped around the building) so I decided to go the next day (4/20). It was busy but not surprised there was still a large crowd for second day and on Easter Sunday. The store is still clean. The aisles are wide and the sections are very well organized. The store is well stocked with produce, vegetables and variety of Asian items (both fresh & frozen) and well maintained. Appreciated the sample booths and friendly staff all around. The small bakery and cafe section by the front doors offers delicious pastries, cakes, sandwiches, breads, and fruit drinks, smoothies and coffees. Love this store! What a terrific new store in Aliso Viejo This Ranch Market is different than the middle eastern Ranch Markets in Mission Viejo as it is Asian grocery items. What a great selection of grocery items as well as fresh seafood, a bakery and an Asian restaurant. We were certainly impressed and purchased some produce and a baked good. This location is really subpar. Not sure if most of these reviews are real or not because they are all very cookie-cutter with nearly every review having the name of the store in the first line. If they are real, Im not sure where they've set the bar here. We used to go to the Irvine store on Culver and the selection was great with high quality produce. It's hard to find any produce at Aliso worth buying. From the broccoli to the lettuce, tomatoes and onions. All very old and either moldy or almost there. Literally couldn't find one red onion that wasn't mushy and the broccoli was covered with black mold. Disgusting. Bakery section is a shell of the Irvine one and their sushi is tasteless. Not sure how they pull that off but it literally has no flavor. Only thing worth buying are the raisin cookies and the crunch covered peanuts and those are only good because theyre factory packaged. Prices are very high now too. No real reason to go here and would be very hard to go back. Filled out a survey telling them how horrible everything was and they didnt even bother to respond. Came here with my girlfriend as I know she loves this store near her home in Chino Hills. My review is based on her reaction. She absolutely loved the size of the store, the variety and also all of the sale prices. Everything she saw she said it was her favorite or talked about how she prepares each item. She found many items that were not available at her store and she looks forward to coming back here several times with a large shopping cart. A win-win for us both. I'm so excited for the transformation of South OC into an Asian hub and the moves happening in this plaza and the 99 Ranch are absolutely huge. The store just barely opened, so I'm definitely going to give them a chance to figure things out, but so far, it's pretty promising. There's admittedly seemingly less selection than some of the other stores, but they have all the essentials. They had samples over the weekend, which was fun, and I hope they continue having them beyond the grand opening period. I wasn't too impressed by the current bakery and deli options since they do seem pretty limited, but they do seem like they're still working on this, so again, I anticipate them to continue expanding and developing for the local taste. It's just great to have an Asian grocery store in the area, even if it's just about the same distance as the Irvine ones for me. TIP: Samples on weekends! read more

Was excited to come here but it was such a let down. Went to their Gourmet Kitchen and the food was so so. Not hot. And they don't give you plates either also there is no place to sit. The worst part was going to their cafe. We ordered 3 Vietnamese coffees and they kept us waiting a really long time, like 30 minutes +. So finally we go check and are told that they are out of Vietnamese coffees. So why did they sell it to us, take our money and time? It's not that difficult to keep track of the stuff you are completely out of. And then our refund? Another nightmare straight from hell. We had to walk to the other side of the store to get our refund. This place is overcrowded, overrated, over priced. I won't be returning. read more

I am so glad they opened a 99 Ranch near us! If you know you know.. if you don't then I recommend you take a trip up to where the old Lowe's was in Aliso and have a wander around this market. The bakery just inside the front door is amazing. The frozen egg rolls, noodles, Bao are all far better than what you get at a grocery store. They also have a little take away restaurant inside. Next door is a Japanese store full of household items and next to that is a tempura and udon noodle place. Great adventure to go grab some food and wander around. read more

Nice and clean place to shop with wider isle walkways, things are nicely categorized and easy to find. But they don't provide mobility shopping carts, it is hard for people with limited mobility to use the store. Also, I wish they had a deli to serve cooked foods. read more
