I think my main complaint with the burrata was that the cheese to cracker ratio was very off. Similarly, the tuna to cracker ratio was even worse. If there had been about 3 more crackers I would raise this rating.

Food here is delicious the carbonara is excellent full of tremendous flavor and nice meaty chunks of bacon and the egg on top makes the flavors of it all pop .....the house made strawberry lemonade is probably the best I've had anywhere taste almost like a smoothie

Finally had a chance to try the Mercatto restaurant after walking past it everyday to a fro work. Situated in the Mars building it is a great venue for startups and event. Dropped by for lunch and it could get busy so make sure reservations are made! Quattro Stagioni pizza - A very interesting pizza as it almost feels like 4 different pizzas in one! The pizza was split into 4 quadrants each with its different toppings. My favourites were the mushrooms and artichokes. The dough was a thin pizza with a bit of burnt edges. The dough was not bad, the crust was still moist even with some char. decent pizza, but would try the pasta next time.

We dined here around lunch time so it was nice and quiet. Our server was very friendly and punctual. It seems to a really nice place to have dinner if you're into Italian food. We ordered a Caesar salad (very delicious and fresh) and a pepperoni pizza, yummy as well. I actually wish I had a little more salad. Overall, I recommend this place. Its in a very convenient location inside of the shopping mall.

One of my favourite Italian restaurants, great ambience and service. Plus it conveniently located at the Eaton Centre

    Carbonara. Amazing.

The food was amazing. The ambiance was just as good, with great lighting in the restaurant. Pricey, but worth it.

Frrrresh Italian food. Great drinks selection. Easy to find and get to on public transportation. First floor restaurant easily accessible. Open space but not loud.

[late post] A great place for patios! Their portion size is a little small for the price but the food is pretty good! I ordered the seafood linguine and really enjoyed it! It's a great place to come with friends or coworkers after work or even for lunch.

    Lasagna

Quiet on a Monday. Lasagna was a bit on salty side but satisfied craving for thick pasta with ricotta. Interesting variation with sauce on side. Wine was 5 stars as well as the tiramisu!

Stracciatella (chocolate chip) gelato with biscotti.

Had lunch and breakfast here. Lunch was good - the pasta of the day (gremolata and anchovies) was filling and the anchovies weren't overpowering. I didn't love it as I'm more fond of pastas with sauces but it was decent nonetheless. The star of my lunch was definitely the stracciatella gelato - I had two generous scoops and a chocolate biscotti. Service was so-so. The server had a bit of an attitude until it came to dessert. For the most part, she was very robotic and the way she spoke to me came off as sharp and monotonous - almost as though someone forced her to take my order lol. By the time I was almost done my meal, she seemed nicer and more cheerful. Maybe because I ordered a second item? Breakfast was...unexpected. I have never experienced such a shitty attitude from a barista. Ever. Usually they're smiley/friendly/chatty/or at least not give you the biggest attitude when they're helping you. Nope. Not the one that I had from Mercatto. He was subtly rolling his eyes at me and sighing when I asked him what teas they had and whether or not they had more than just pastries for breakfast. When I asked for a straw (since I got an iced tea), he shoved this jar full of small, paper straws right at me. Took a lot not to cuss him out in front of everyone (who seemed to work at the MaRS building). If you hate your job that much, don't work! Or stay home if you're having a shitty day. Seriously. Mercatto needs to work on employee attitude, especially given where it is located. Other than that, they have decent food and good desserts.

The place is quiet. Service was excellent. The tortiglioni alla bolognese was delicious. A great place for couples or small groups.

Donatello is considered a fine dining Italian restaurant. And it didn't disappoint. The foid and…read moreservice were excellent. The vibe was a slightly darkened room (for the evening). There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

There were four flights of stairs to get up to the first floor with the bar and main dining area. There was another two flights of stairs to get to the upper bar (which I was too tired to walk up to). The drinks at the bar were good and the staff were all great. We started with passed apps. Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price. For what you are paying, there is so much higher quality food in the city and I honestly think you can get better bang for buck elsewhere.

This is a wine bar - the house lager was bad (maybe my own bad decision) and the red I got was fine ... nothing to write home about. However place fell apart with the food - the shrimp came with 5 medium sized shrimp with the tails, legs and shells on and were under seasoned. The artichokes were mediocre (loved the sauce they came with). Worst of all was the "Ontario peaches" with the burrata were totally canned peaches - could've even been dole brand! This place has amazing potential with the location and vibe - but the food just was not it. Small portions and the price didn't match what was served. The service was friendly but nothing too crazy. Go here for the drinks, but maybe not for the dinner!

Our server was great at helping us pick our wine, he mentioned that their wines are all on the dry side which is perfect for me, I'm not one for sweet wines. We also had two of their small plates the mussels and the burrata. The mussels tasted great with the sauce, a little garlicky which I prefer. The combination of the peach and mint went really well with the burrata. Light and easy to eat. The patio at night is one of the highlights. The only small complaint was it did take a while to get our wine after we ordered it and a little while to get our check. Otherwise cute spot.

Lots of decent beers on draft and they leave water bottle to refill your water cups, which I love. Service is bit slow. Had to sit at the bar since it was crowded at 6:30pm and still had to wait 30 mins. I normally don't eat at the bar, since bartenders are slower and busier with drink orders, but I was starving. Bartender only checked on us once, when food came out. Hard to get their attention too. Food, however, was amazing! Love the savory giant meatball and the rich San Marzano tomato-based marinara sauce, with dab of pesto and plenty of fresh basil. Loved the sauce was not too acidic and pasta cooked perfectly, not al dente. The focaccia bread comes with this rosemary garlic butter, and it was absolutely delicious on focaccia. The focaccia bread alone was just okay, not much rosemary or oil flavor, but I think the spread had all the flavor. Amazing and worth $6.

For the main dish we could choose from gnocchi, salad with salmon or another dish which I can't recall right now. Dessert was ice cream which I also couldn't eat. The gnocchi was very mediocre. I didn't enjoy it at all. I hadn't been here in years but I see their food quality hasn't gotten any better. I was starving by the time the main dish came out so I ate about a quarter of the dish. Then I took the rest of the gnocchi home. Service: The waitstaff were really nice but the service was not very organized. There was a lot of appetizers but I couldn't eat most of it. Which is strange because I gave my food allergies several days in advance of the meal. It took some time to get the main dish as well so the pacing didn't seem great. I looked around at the other tables & we got our main dishes last. I'm not sure if the kitchen was at fault or what. Ambiance: It's quite dark here even on the lunch hour. The decor is dark wood tones, red upholstered banquette seating & wooden tables & chairs. It's not a fancy place. I would not choose to eat here again. Last time I went was several years ago. Sadly I see they haven't gotten any better. There are other better Italian restaurants in this area.
