Avoid this place at all costs! Their service department is so unprofessional and doesn't care about their customers even when they say they do. I arrived at about 12:45pm today for an oil change. The staff member told me it would be about an hr to an hr and a half since there were 4 people ahead of me. I told them that's fine no problem. I tend to just stay in the waiting area which is what I did today. 2 hrs pass by and still nothing , I look at the staff member that checked my car in and asked him what happened to my car. He said I'll go check right now and see what happened. He comes back and tells me that they unfortunately skipped my car. I tell him are you serious? I asked has it even been worked on? He said no, they taking it in right now it shouldn't take too long. He notices I am irritated and apologizes and says he would take care of it. I just walk back to the waiting area, irritated and annoyed. This is not the first time it happens or that I receive a negative service from the service department. All staff members do is apologize for their mistakes to make it seem like it's okay which is not. The staff member comes back after my car is done and apologizes once again saying it was his fault that he got tight up with customers that had appointments. Excuses? Yes, very unacceptable and unprofessional. Apologizing doesn't make the situation better. They really need to work on their customer service. I don't end up leaving until about 3:30pm. Really avoid this place at all times! Last time I will be here. Very tired of how unprofessional their staff is and every single time I have been here they have always made it an unpleasant visit. I've complained in the past to other staff members about the unpleasant services and they do not do anything to make the situation better. All they do is give you a lame "sorry". Avoid this place!!!! My fiancé and I were just getting started on our road trip to L.A. when our check engine light started blinking. Shortly after our VSC light came on and we were both in a panic. We were only an hour and a half into the drive and still had another four hours to go. We came into the Merced dealership where Hector greeted us with a friendly welcoming and smile. He and the service team did an amazing job fixing our car and getting us back on the road. We had one spark plug that was bad due to black ash deposits. Hector recommended that we replace all six spark plugs due to the high mileage, so we did. We are glad to say we made it to L.A. and our car ran beautifully. Took my car in to Merced Honda this morning, I had an appointment for 11:15am (I arrived 10 minutes early) and was out of there in 45 minutes! It was a great experience. Luis walked out and met me at the service drive and invited me inside. He took all my information down and noticed I had never been to this service department and he made me feel so welcomed. My family was driving home from vacation and our check engine light came on and we were losing power. We were 5 hours from home. We pulled off and found Honda. Our Service Advisor, Juan was able to have Kao a technician determine the problem. $565 and 3.5 hours later we were on the road again. So grateful to both for helping us out and getting us on the road again. Appreciate the service and cool place to wait. The young lady at the counter suggested a place to get lunch too. I stopped by to look at a vehicle and was treated very well by staff . They were honest and didn't play the game that some auto dealers play . I received a follow up call later the same day from Art about the vehicle I was interested in . He was very professional and worked a deal that we could agree on . Living in the Fresno area I was never able to work with the local Honda dealers as they didn't care enough to follow up and didn't listen to customer needs in a vehicle. Had 11:00 appt for express oil chg, tire rotation & balance! Checked in at 10:45. At 12:15, checked on my car's status! Not yet done! There were 4 people in waiting area when I checked in. 5 people checked in after me. By 12:15 all these people were gone. I was alone! Complained to Service Tech. He told me it takes time to balance tires & they were on my last tire. Finally my car was done at 12:32. Service tech said it takes longer to balance each tire! After $100 charge ($12 tire rotation, $40 oil chg & $40 tire balance) I was on my way to meet friends for lunch I was late for!! read more

On 8/12/2020 I visited Merced Honda's service department and had an oil change and tire rotation on my 2019 Honda Insight EX. At that same time, I had recall notice W7F (fuel pump replacement) completed as well. The technician told me when the job was complete that this was the first Insight he had worked on. Total time for completion of this work was 3 hours and 14 minutes A couple months later the car started warning me to "tighten the gas cap". The gas cap was checked many times by me and was always tight. The car then gave me a Check Engine Light along with an Evap system warning and instructions to take the car to the dealer. On 11/23/2020 I returned to the dealer to have them investigate the check engine light. The tech found code P04EE Evap small leak - He performed a smoke test to look for leaks. The car passed the smoke test and another Evap test. No issues were found at this time. The check engine light was reset and I was instructed to return to the dealer if the check engine light returned and they would look into it further. I was not charged for this visit. Total time for completion of this work was 2 hours. 4 Days later I got the check engine light once again with the same messages. I returned to the dealer on 12/2/2020 to have it checked out. While discussing the issue with the service advisor, Hector, I was adamant that they check the fuel pump installation as it is the only component in the evap system that has been touched since I've owned the car. Sure enough the tech discovered that during the fuel pump installation that 2 of the 3 locking collars on the fuel pump were not installed properly. This caused the seal on the fuel pump to not seat properly and this caused the evap system leak that the car was detecting. The tech corrected the issue and the car was returned to me. Total time for completion of this work was approximately 2 hours. I was not charged for this visit. When presented with the car, there was no apology. No acknowledgment of the mistake made in installing the fuel pump (except on the invoice). There was no offer of anything for my inconvenience or the 4 hours of my time. All I got was a cheerful "We found the problem and was able to fix it! And we are not going to charge you for it!" Then I discovered when they did the oil changes they removed and did not re-install the front 2 screws from the aluminum pan under the engine. I do not plan to have them service my car any longer. read more

We live in Northern California and were on a road trip to Southern Cal when our engine gave out on Highway 5 in the middle of nowhere. We had our car towed to the closest Honda Dealership which was in Merced and since it was Sunday we had to wait till Monday morning to find out what happened to our car, but upon arrival one of the Sales Reps - Arturo Velasco greeted us and allowed us to use the lobby while we transferred our things to the rental car which was crucial since we had our dog and it was over 90 degrees (really felt like 130 degrees) outside. Starting with the kindness and hospitality that Arturo showed us and ending with the honesty, understanding, and responsiveness that our Service Advisor - Luis Guevara showed us, we absolutely love these guys! When dealing with a stressful situation Luis and Arturo made us feel at home and comfortable. Their compassion really shined through! It makes sense that they are both family men because the love is evident and although we don't live near Merced that is where we would do business if we lived closer. They helped ease the stress in a very stressful situation. read more

I've purchased the following new vehicles at Merced Honda; A 2003 Civic, 2013 Fit, 2016 HR-V. These vehicles were/are all serviced at Merced Honda with the result being, I have never been stranded on the road by any of these cars and the vehicles have all performed well. The service guys inform me of what the service or repair will entail, how much and when and they're usually correct. I just had my Fit Sports in for a 90K service where they did a Throttle Body service. The car was returned running so smooth that it's a joy to drive. read more

Called to check the wait time for an oil change on a 2016 Honda and I had to wait 10-15 minutes on the for them to pick up so then try finally answer and tell me that there wasn't anybody waiting for an oil change so it would be a 45 minute wait. So I went on over and I signed or whatever then I asked for a shuttle to Costco so I can do some shopping and I was waiting in the customer lounge and they never brought me the shuttle so I will never be coming back here ever again. read more

WORST DEALERSHIP EVER -AWFUL EXPERIENCE My husband and I went to this dealership as we were in the market to buy a Honda that we've been researching. We were looking at the sticker of a couple of cars when Salesman Pedro came over to us and introduced himself. I said "Hi, how are you" but continued to read the sticker price of a car. He mumbled something about not being well because he doesn't like talking to people's backs and he proceeded to walk away (to go back to the corner where all the salesmen gather). He looked back at us and held up a finger. WHAT AN ATROCIOUS BEHAVIOR, we felt downright mistreated! I really felt that he was obnoxiously rude to us because he already made judgment that we were not worthy (probably because of the way we looked) and he figured we're not going to buy a car anyway. We went inside to speak with the manager, Pedro held open the door to my husband saying the manager is that way, still instigating and now even more confrontational saying that my husband is not treating him right. Really, you have the audacity to still be speaking to us - the only words that should be coming out of your mouth at this point is apologizing to us for the way you treated us! Talking to the Sales Manager Ricardo proved useless. The first thing he said to us was there are other sales people we can talk to. After that statement, we were done. No I'm sorry you had a negative experience - no assurance that they take customer complaints seriously. Took my 2005 Honda Odyssey to get the oil changed and after my car was done they told me that the oil plug is stripped .my car is leaking oil when I brought the car in it wasn't leaking oil so I told them they should fix it since they broke it they told me no they're not going to fix it. I drove the car home and they forgot a rag inside i didnt notice till it started catching on fire, went back to show them the the rag they said sorry try to contact the service manager they told me they can't help me with the car it has too many miles that they just strip after a while the bolts on my car still not fix n now its leaking oil in the driveway. Took my vehicles there over 8 years not going there anymore they told me It would be $577 to fix the oil plug that they stripped. read more

Then the owner comes out of nowhere and tells a story to my dad about his farm that he owns and how he has a pig and skunk on his farm. Terrible service. So we purchased a car Nov 2019 from Western Motors and purchased extended warranty. Any car that i have ever purchased you can use at the extended warranty at the dealership of the maker of the car. Needless to say I didnt ask and wasn't told that the warranty can only be used at Western Motors service dept. So I take my car to Honda in Merced and mind you I gave Chris all the information 2 days before so he could look up warranty information only to have to pay for a diagnostic fee at Honda of $125 and to be told I have to take the car to Western Motors.. So I guess my fault for not reading the fine lines on the warranty information.. and to top it off i called back a few days later and spoke to the general manager which was the owner Gary and he said i should have took the car where I bought it from and that it was looked at and that i had to pay!!What a jerk!!! He was a straight a^*h'^e! I didnt mind paying had they fixed the problem or did there job correctly in the first place when I gave the service advisor all my Vin# information to have it ready when I dropped the car off!!Lesson learned!! I will kot take my business there ever! They lost an oil change and we were about to buy a 2020 Honda accord!! Thank you Honda you lost !!! My car was ready to get picked up from routine maintenance around 4-5 and I thought the dealership was closing at a 8pm on google so I took my sweet time. Little did I know they close at 5pm when I got another phone call. I told them I'd pick it up at tomorrow but I really needed my car by tomorrow too. So I rushed over and made it just in time as they were closing. I'm thankful for the elderly gentleman for noticing me at the door and the ladies(one of them named Cindy) helping me check out at the desk. Since I came in another car, Cindy told me to follow her to black bear diner to drop off one of my cars and she'd be willing to pick me and drop back off at the dealership to pick up my other car. So here we go, get up this morning. My check engine light came on yesterday and I was at Merced honda first in line this bright Friday morning. Not I want make sure to say I have had pass dealings with Merced Honda and in general they have even all good. But this morning was a whole different ball game. First the sign posted clearly states opening time 7:30 Friday, well when I found a open door at 7: 50 and walked in I said are you not open and I was told no and they did not open till 8.. I told themthe sign said 7:30 and from that point I just ignored the conversation. It was posted in the window in plan sight.. now I get to the counter and to make a long story short here go's. I was informed all work required an appointment that I should have done already on line, no where in the area is this posted, also my ck eng light is on and I informed the writer. No appointment and they can't check it, he told me I could go to Modesto honda. I told him you want me to drive around all week with a ch engine light on, no answer. My appointment next Friday, check engine light on and so I drive away.. I go to O reighly auto part, the Scan my code for free and it took the a whole 30 seconds.. all I can say very disappointed In Merced Honda and there service department. Glad I wasn't traveling, I would have had to stay in a motel for over a week.. piss poor service and ducky attitude. You make rules post them, hell it is not even on the web site, how can you expect to in force a rule and don't even post it to the public, what waste my time to find out at 6 dollars a gallon .. and then let me drive off to cause further damage because I don't have an appointment.. what kind of customer service is that, I say piss poor service....and my A/C, they where paid to fix it and it is not working either.. will follow up next week,tbT if the engine dose not die. read more

This place has the worst customer service imaginable. I went in this afternoon because my low tire pressure indicator has come on twice in a week and a half. I was told that I would have a two hour wait or I could make an appointment. They refused to at least check my tires to see they had sufficient air in them . I was told by the tech that legally they had to write up a work order and again I would have to wait two hours. Interestingly enough the first time this happened I took it to Fresno Honda and they checked it within fifteen minutes. Also I attempted to make an appointment for tomorrow, the tech said he had a 1:30 available. When I told him I would need to drop the car off in the morning because we have an out of town medical appointment he would not make the appointment. I was told that it would be treated as walk-in , so apparently you can't drop off your car early. UPDATE: My husbsnd & I went to local tire shop, they checked the tire pressure & turned off the indicator light in a matter of five minutes. They seemed to think that I was treated badly at Merced Honda because I am a woman or because we didn't buy the car from them. read more

I took my Honda Civic there for an oil change and after picking up the vehicle, heard a scraping sound under my car. I had to take my car back because they had "forgotten" to tighten and seal everything. They would not admit that it was their fault and although I did not have to pay for them to repair it, they would not commit to no charge and insisted that depending on what is going on, I would have to pay--even though any damage would have been a result of their carelessness. I have also called service multiple times and no one responds or answers. I love my Honda, but will no longer service with Merced Honda. read more

I would think twice about taking my car to Merced Honda. I took my car in for repair and it was stolen off the lot after the service tech left the keys in the car. It took Merced Honda 48 hours to report the car stolen to the police. After talking to Gary the GM, he claimed no responsibility for the negligence of the service tech that left the keys in the car, put blame on the thief that stole the vehicle and said that if you think about it, this is kind of a funny situation. She helped out at first and I told her what car from their lot caught my eye. She walked me through the car and all the specs but then later she had a customer that had already had set up an appointment with her. But she kindly referred me to one of her "best coworkers," his name was Leo. Leo then asked me if wanted to go for a test drive, he was very knowledgeable about the car and easy going. At no point I felt pressured or pushed to buy the car. After the test drive, I made the decision to sit down in his office and talk about the price. Let me just say that at the end I left happy with the car I wanted for the right price for me. Leo even took the time to have my car detailed and help me understand all the cool tech features. This is for my visit at Merced Honda, in central California back in December of 2013. I just wanted to make sure that I help spread the word about my purchase experience. Being a person who is always looking out for a great deal, I have been doing my homework for a while looking at the lowest prices throughout California Honda dealers. Not finding a price that met my needs, I turned to Costco's Auto Program to help connect me with a dealership. I submitted my info via Costco's Auto Program website in the middle of the night. The next day, I received a call from Ady at Merced Honda. I explained to her that I was looking at a Odyssey but the Touring trim. But I also, interjected that if she can give me a good price, I would rather pay a few more dollars for a Touring Elite (top of the line) model. She had asked me to see how much I was willing to pay for a Touring Elite. I told her the exact amount that I wanted out the door and no hassle, and no haggle. She told me to give her a couple of minutes while she consulted with her manager. Now, I'm not someone new to the art of negotiations when buying a car. I do my homework, and research prices all the time before ever walking onto a dealership lot. Believe me, I've walked out of many dealerships here in Fresno and Clovis because they were hard fast and would not budge for a couple of extra dollars they are holding to. After a couple of minutes, Ady called me back saying that she could do it at the price that I wanted. I asked her to see if she can send that quote to me in an email. Within 20 minutes, she sent me the quote. Now, I could't say the same thing to another dealership that I was working with near the bay area. That particular person working in the bay area dealership was not willing to put his price in writing, but wanted me to take his word only. However, Ady and Merced Honda was able to beat that bay area's price by $200. That saved me time, and gas money to drive out to Merced instead of the bay area. To save the car, I had to put a $500 deposit on the vehicle to make sure that they didn't sell it to anyone else. At first, I was a little bit weary, but the deal was too good to skip over. After obtaining my funds, I took the 45 minutes from Fresno to Merced on a Sunday afternoon. Ady was off, but came in because she wanted to complete the deal. I don't blame her. When we got in there, we were met by Ady. She quickly showed me the car. We did a test drive, and no sooner I was in the finance manager's office signing papers. The only bad experience from this was when the finance manager was trying to squeeze more money out of me by trying to sell me this and that extra. Since I came to purchase with a cashiers check, I didn't purchase anything extra. Within 2 hours, I was driving back home to Fresno in a new 2014 vehicle. Loved working with Ady and the staff at Merced Honda. Walked away with a 2014 Honda Odyssey Elite at a price of $43,900 (price included taxes) out the door. read more

The most incompetent mechanics I have ever had the displeasure of paying. I have a coolant leak, and took it in to them, to be charged $166 to replace a hose. When i returned home from picking it up, I looked under to find that it was still leaking. So I took it in once more to their service department, and they claimed that both the lower hose and the thermostat needed to be replaced, so they charged me another $160+ to replace and repair those items. I asked before leaving if they had fixed the leak, and he assured me it was fixed. So I drove it home, to ONCE AGAIN find that it was leaking. So I called dealership, and I was told that the service department was closed, I asked to leave a message or complaint, and the person on other end actually said, "come in tomorrow" AND HUNG UP! After receiving the most horrible service at one of the hometown shops in my area, I was relieved at the exceptional and professional assistance I was presented with from Hector at Merced Honda, in the service department. I tried staying local to generate business for my small town, however, after the bewildering, unprofessional attitude and foul language I was dished out, I will gladly drive the hour to Merced for the customer service I received there! I am willing to pay double, every time, to be treated like a valued customer! They truly live by their motto, "We treat you right because we want you back!". Thanks, Hector!
