My experience at Toyota Merced was extremely disappointing and unhelpful. From the moment I arrived, the service advisor could not find my appointment--even though I had confirmation and had spoken with a representative beforehand. Rather than resolving it, he brushed us off, had us sign paperwork, and said he'd call when the vehicle was ready. I brought my car in because the "Maintenance Required - Traction Battery Cooling Parts" warning was actively flashing. I have video proof timestamped at 2:23 PM, just minutes before my 2:30 PM appointment, clearly showing the warning. Despite this, the dealership claimed they were "unable to duplicate the concern." For a dealership that advertises specialized technicians, I expected at least an explanation of what the warning could indicate or reassurance that it had been properly investigated. What makes this worse is that they kept my vehicle for over 24 hours. I received a message the next day at 2:39 PM saying it was ready--yet they did not explain why it needed to be kept overnight if nothing was found. According to the paperwork, the only thing done was adding air to a tire. That does not justify keeping my car for an entire day. When we returned to pick it up, we were told Kevin, our advisor, would come speak with us--but he never did. No one explained what was checked or what was found. Another employee simply read off the paperwork and told me to "bring it back if it happens again." I live four hours away and do not have another Toyota dealership nearby, so that response was unacceptable. To make matters worse, the "Maintenance Required" message was still present as I pulled out of the parking lot. This left me with serious doubts that the issue was properly diagnosed at all. Since my vehicle is under warranty, I can't help but feel the concern was dismissed rather than thoroughly checked. I will not be returning. BEWARE of their service department!!!! Dropped my vehicle off for my appointment and they let me sit there for 4 hours before telling me they needed to keep the car overnight. THEN they told me I could rent a vehicle since I was trapped at dealership. Next day, I'm told they have to keep the car again. The light is still on. Fine, I just want it fixed. Next day, I call THEM after I hadn't heard from them. I'm told they ordered parts and they won't be here until the next week? I still wasn't even told what was wrong so what do you mean I need parts? They tell me they told me this (no, no they did not). Then, I get a call from the guy helping me two days prior, he tells me "I told you I ordered you parts." I tell him NOPE, you did not..... "oh wait, there is another customer with the same car as you I ordered parts for. We have to wait for a Toyota representative to come out to see what's wrong with your car." Thought I took my car to a TOYOTA dealership, but okay. Come the next week. We need it again. Next day, we need it still. (Are you seeing a pattern here?) FINALLY, I go to pick it up and they want to charge me $900! $300 for a part that is listed on the Toyota website for $150..... I asked to speak to a manager, he agrees to take off the part (thank you sir), but then proceeds to tell me to never come back to his dealership. NOT A PROBLEM SIR I WOULDN'T ANYWAYS!!!! And finally for the icing on top of the cake. I get back in my car and the gas gauge is on empty. Which it was NOT on when I dropped it off the week before. I looked over my paperwork and they drove it 250 miles. "Diagnostic miles" they called them. Where did they go to complete the diagnostic? The coast? Came here over the weekend a couple weeks ago to browse cars. The SO and I had already been searching CarGuru and online, specifically some sort of hybrid. We decided to head over to Merced Toyota to see what was physically available. Located right where the 99 and 140 meet, we found Merced Toyota tucked away past the Black Bear Diner. Martin Nordenstrom was absolutely amazing and did not ever put pressure on us to purchase anything. We actually ended up leaving to check out Chevrolet Merced, and returning to Martin due to feeling highly pressured over at the Chevy dealership to make a purchase (felt very disingenuous and talked-down-to talking to the sales rep there). We ended up going with a used 2023 Prius XLE and it has been amazing! Not only that but speaking financing with Guillermo was great and very thorough. We were able to come to a great deal and walked out with a new (used) car! Because we closed the deal, he gifted us a little honey basket made by his mom (so cute). Edit: Because we had such a great experience with Martin for the Prius, we came back! We were able to close a deal on a 2024 Rav4 Hybrid without having to lift a finger. I really appreciated him keeping us updated whenever a car that fit our criteria hit the lot (or when it was immediately sold to someone else!). All used Toyotas are supposed to be certified use cars. So I assumed that meant all safety issues checked out. We had a sensor light come on about tire pressure three days after we bought a van from Merced Toyota. Brought it back to Merced Toyota and they said that we didn't have a warranty on the van it was sold as is. We took the vehicle to a tire place and they said the tires were all good that it must be a bad sensor. When I brought it back to the dealership, the guy told me that when it's cold outside the tires run low pressure, but this was in July. I normally never have problems with taking my car in and communication is always great but today. My appointment was at 1 I was scheduled for an oil change. I get there with my daughter and Fredi helped me and says it'll take 2 hrs or less for an oil change. I walked away cause I didn't want to say anything else I was very upset my daughter was tired and ready to go I was ready we had been there for 4 hours!! Adding this from my Yelp account, since Yelp removed facebook login If I could give this horrible dealer negative stars I would. I bought a oil change pack for my impeccably maintained Lexus. Twice after the oil change, the wheel nuts were barely finger tight, which I noticed from a noise when driving. Kevin, who was my adviser and a good guy, got the problem fixed after that and even gave me a free oil change, so I figured they just made a mistake, and kept getting my oil changed. My car needed a rear bearing, and this is where everything goes south. After I got the bearing "replaced" I noticed the car was driving squirrely. I parked it and checked over the car, but couldn't find the issue. Drove it once more and then decided to hop under the car. Lo and behold, Merced Toyota forgot two bolts and a few nuts, the bolts that HOLD THE WHEEL TO THE A ARM aka to the CAR. I was livid , as my wife drives this car 100s of miles a week to the bay area. I talked with Kevin who was understanding and upset and had the shop fix and then personally check the car himself. They fixed it but I decided I wanted a refund for the remaining oil changes since they can't work on a car and have it be safe to drive after they touch it. A few weeks later I came back to talk to Manuel Guerrero, the General Manger about all the issues I was having and to get refund on my existing oil changes. Manuel Guerrero, the General Manger, blamed me for giving them a second chance , and gave me some lame duck lecture about how his kids come to him when they have problems in their marriages but he knows "it takes two tango" and somehow this applied to me, his customer, and Merced Toyota's complete failure as mechanics. He then said he would think about giving me a refund and to call back later. When I did call back Manuel Guerrero, the General Manger, then rudely said he would not be refunding my unused oil changes. Everything I wrote is 100% true. Manuel Guerrero, the General Manger, should be fired, as he has no morals, is not a man of his word, is dishonest, and does not meet Toyota's standards or work or conduct. People like Manuel Guerrero, the General Manger of Merced Toyota, are why Merced has a bad rap and no one want to buy or have any work done on their car in Merced, as they take advantage of people who cannot travel to buy a car or get an oil change. Do not go to this dealership, even to just use the bathroom. Clovis Auto now does all my work on both my cars and has never let me down whatsoever. read more

Had a terrible experience. So much for a "smart path" way of purchasing. I had completed the entire purchase online and low and behold I arrived to the dealer and they tried to get me. Was told a price for my vehicle being used as a trade in and they offered 4500 less than what was quoted online. This is a vicious bate and switch and is a bad way of doing business. I have purchased cars before online and this just seems to be another dealer who baits and switches with prices/offers. So much for wanting to create a long term customer. I will make sure to let others know. Update in response to statement (response to their response on my Google review) Incorrect the business initially told me they were only able to give me 19.5k for my vehicle and it was shortly after bartering that you guys asked me to take it to car max or sell it else where. 19.5k is a laughable amount and if it was any other person you would have taken advantage of them. After some deliberation you agreed to match the 22k that car max was offering. Now as to the quality being deemed perfect you could not tell me anything that was wrong with my car and said you couldn't honor the price because you felt you could not sell my vehicle. I wanted to purchase a white 2023 toyota 4 runner TRD Pro. I was in touch with Dan. He said I can leave $1000 deposit to reserve one on their in transit list, but I had to come in. He told me it would be a few months. I drove to Merced on a Saturday to leave my deposit via credit card. Hui was my sales associate, Dan was the Sales Manager. Mark up was $2500 compared to the bay area pricing of $14,000+ over msrp. Dan requested that we fill out a form so he can reseve the vehicle. I had several requests throughout California inquiring about white trd pros. No one demanded i come in to put the deposit in like Dan did. He claimed this was a corporate store and they required it. Fine. Dan took that information and ran my credit without my permission. His excuse was, it's too late he did it already! Wtf! That shows an inquiring on my credit report... and those 10 point deduction could drop you from excellent to good! Why would you do that knowing that I would need to run my credit when the truck arrived. Not to mention he decided to point his finger at me when I told him what he did was bullshit! The truck arrived mid may! I put my deposit down late February they said it would only take 8-10 weeks. I sold my two cars in March because I was informed my truck was at the port. I had decided to purchase a different car as they didn't know what was happening at the port. The runner was stuck in limbo for 3 months! The most infuriating part of this was...Dan decided to run my Credit even though I may have paid cash! When I cancelled my transaction, they required that I show up in person 2.5 hours away to present my credit card. When I arrived with my credit card, I asked the sales guy who was helping me, what they had for the last 4 digits he said he didn't know. Why did I have to drive to Merced and see that scandalous/shady typical sales manager Dan... take your business elsewhere...when your sales manager is scandalous, what else would they do behind the scenes before you get into the finance managers office! read more

Buyer Beware: I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma that I've owned for 39 months. The rubber strips on top of the cab are coming loose. I called Merced Toyota to see if they are covered, I was informed by a rude person that it is not under warranty. Before another word was spoken that Toyota service writer immediately stated Toyota does not recommend that you go through any express car washes. I asked how often this happens just over 36 months. I was not given a response. I then asked for a quote to repair this damage. I was told $205. I asked if parts were included they said no. I was then told the service writer doesn't have access to parts cost , and instead, I would need to be transferred to the parts department to get that part of the quote. I spent over 20 minutes on hold with the service department who never gave me an answer. My take away from this never buy a Toyota unless you plan to only hand wash it. I wish Toyota would tell people this information upfront, "Before you buy this vehicle understand that if you go through a drive-through car wash, it will ruin part of your brand new vehicle and it Will NOT be covered. read more

Purchased a brand new Toyota earlier in Jan 2021. Though customer service was great, a defective car was sold to me: 1. The Gas tank door is tilted 2. Driver side tail light is slightly misplaced. 3.The Toyota App for remote applications isn't working. The gas tank door and the tail light issues weren't something a customer could catch with a quick walk around prior to purchase, but the dealer knows what's up with their cars or what issues it has while in their lot. To say the least, the person from the dealership who filled the car with gas prior to selling it should've brought up the gas tank door issue, but no one said anything. At this point, I am unable to get a commitment from dealership that they will fix these problems on this defective car. Went though corporate Toyota and they even tried to notify the dealership to contact me, but no luck. I live in San Jose, and went all the way to Merced for this car, but I will never shop from this dealership again and do not recommend it to anyone else. Not worth the potential headache. read more

Couldn't be happier. I just bought a 2023 Toyota Venza LE. I was shopping online for a hybrid Toyota Rav 4 XLE. I'm from Modesto, so I was willing to look from Sac to Fresno for the best deal. But we found the "perfect" car for us at the fair price listed on their site and decided to go through with the purchase, especially since they had Express Store available, where you can get upfront pricing, including taxes, and complete most of your paperwork online. We went through the entire application, including submitting complete credit application, trade-in info including Pics, car insurance information, and more. We've then reached out to Merced Toyota to only be told by a Sales Rep AND his manager that they had no idea what the Express Store and Online Buying was all about, and that we would have to come in to "reserve" the car, put down deposit, etc. WTH? After 7 months of communication w Jose, sales rep, and multiple delays on the car arriving...he called today to tell me at 11:30 to come down now and pay deposit or he has other people that want the car. It felt like a bait and switch and when I called the GM Manny (Manuel) to better understand how they operate he droned on about how he manages 60 people in the dealership. He stated he did not know the situation and I was trying to explain it for a second time. Have to repeat my self. I was calm, spoke calmly and laid out my experience. I told him I appreciate the apology but was not looking for an apology. I simply wanted to understanding of how they operate. I felt like today's call from Jose to drop everything and drive over to give a deposit was an unreasonable ask. I felt unheard, belittled and frustrated and advised him we would move on and work with another dealer for the Rave 4 hybrid. In short, I would NOT recommended their dealership. What a waste of time! Folsom Toyota took a deposit electronically and I'm now waiting on my new car. Thad great customer service and customer engagement. I would highly recommend Folsom. read more
