OK, let's call Mercedes Meat Market what it REALLY IS....a HIDDEN PRECIOUS GEM. I was visiting the area and heard the quiet whispers about the quality of the food and service, people singing the praise of Ramon and his staff. I had to check it out for myself. Wow, like time traveling back before internet and cell phones and Whole Foods. THIS was a REAL old-school butcher shop with a REAL Master Butcher. Ramon is an artisan and has mastered his trade for the past 36 years. Originally from the Dominican Republic and trained in Accounting, he came to the U.S. and fell in love with the Butcher trade. His shop features fresh cut Prime steaks, made-in-store sausages, chicken / pork / beef fresh cut to order, and a variety of hand-made fresh side salads. He offered me several fresh samples and i was completely "wowed" by the taste and quality I had to buy a pound of the garlic hard salami, spicy bacon hard salami, fresh made-in-store Pastrami, a Prime hand-cut Ribeye and some grilling sausages. I would normally expect there to be a line going out the door and wrapping around the building and down the block if this were NYC, Brooklyn or Queens but this is a small neighborhood, tucked out of the way, shop humbly situated in Long Island on Neighborhood road near Mastic Beach. There is a parking lot next to Mercedes Market that can accommodate about 10-12 cars. I'll be in town for 2 weeks and I know I'll be here every other day. As a Keto-Carnivore this is my hands-down go-to spot. In fact, I'm licking my greasy fingers as I type this review because I can't stop myself from enjoying that hand-made Garlic Salami and freshly brined Pastrami. Wow, these are good. The perfect place to pick up everything you need to impress a group for grilling. It's got pre-cut meats, meat cut to order, and most importantly to me, MANY chicken options. I don't eat beef or pork, which in Suffolk County makes me a bit unusual. There are consistently good chicken kebabs, ground chicken, and chicken burgers and sausages, plus pasta and other salads. Buns, veggies, and other pantry options finish the grilling needs, and there are even fresh eggs for the next morning. Prices are very reasonable, especially compared to a similar place in the city- I'm thinking The Meat Hook in Brooklyn. I have nothing but great things to say about the people that own this business. I was positioned in front of their business at the fair on neighborhood Rd. I got there at start time and my spot was in front of their parking lots apron. The women drove her SUV over the curb and didn't make it a big deal. As I was setting up I dropped my coffee on my table. I walked into the store as asked for a paper towel. This was really early it was maybe 7:30. She gave me a few. I ordered my lunch at their booth at the fair. The sausage was cooked perfectly, it was just delicious. At the end of the fair everyone that works at the store offered a number of times to help me pack my truck up. The customer service that they showed yesterday will guarntee I patronize this store again. So I need to be completely honest, the plan was to eat at a near by restaurant, but when we got there it was closed on Monday's. I wasn't going to waist a trip so I travel right up the road. My brother request the "Mercedes Meat Market" and I said "no". After some debate I decided it was best to see what they had to offer. Going in I saw this short, happy, very entertaining lady named Carol. Carol worked there and was truly animated. My brother asked how was the food? With a sarcastic look on her face she said awesome! Carol was a sales person, showing us what they had and allowing us to test anything we wanted. I enjoyed Carols witty banter as she was very excited to know I was a twin, she joked a lot about it with the customers and the owner. I joked about the food being so expensive and Carol quick on her toes said "your paying for quality! Go eat garbage if you want cheap!" I took that as the food here being good because she was confident in the product. Carol also mentioned that they don't just sell meats. Milk, fruits, vegetables and eggs were available. After handling a brief rush it was time to get food. Carol sold me on the homemade buffalo wings and blue cheese. My brother got the Meatloaf and after trying the potato Salad we got that too. Carol had every reason to be confident, the chicken was amazing and the blue cheese was out of this world. I couldn't believe I never came here sooner. My brother allowed me to try his meatloaf and it was on point, It was even better with the warmed potato salad. This place is what it is because of Carol! I will definitely be back, they make sandwiches also. This might be my new one stop shop if I'm still in Suffolk County. Even if I move I wonder if I can take Carol with me? read more

Great meat selection! We are camping at Smith Point County Park and had gone to Pathmark to get groceries. I couldn't even stand to buy any chicken or meat from there bc the selection was awful. We stumbled upon Mercedes Meat Market and were so pleasantly surprised! Great selection of grill ready meats, kebabs, and burgers. The best part- the owner (and butcher) and his wife were the most kind people we've come across on a while. If anyone is camping out here I highly recommend giving this place a call. We googled, "prime beef near me," while on vacation in Shirley, NY and happened upon this gem of a place. When we walked in, we couldn't help notice to delicious aroma filling the air. Dawn noticed our delight and came out to greet us, inviting us in the back for a taste of the cabbage dish she was making. We ordered some steaks and enough roast beef, rolls and potato salad for lunch the next day. Everything was so delicious, we ended up stopping by on our way out of town to thank them. I stopped in here because my daughters boyfriend works for boarshead and delivers meats all the time. He said ya gotta stop in there!
