Peconic Prime Meats is Hampton's premier butcher shop. With many years of press praising it's chief butcher Steve Colabella, it has become the place to go for those in the know. Steve has been written up by all the local and National papers because he is a third generation Butcher who has always wanted to be a butcher! He say it was and is his calling. He has mastered the presentation and Preparation of meat! Some have called him a philosopher of meats, and he is also a great reference on how to prepare all the meats he cuts and sells. He welcomes the questions. This little shop packs immense flavor and creativity, especially when it comes to their homemade sausages. Flavors such as bourbon bacon horseradish bacon to venison Merguez there's always something exciting and delicious being made. The selection is outstanding with a few niche rarities thrown in teres major, prime beef, pork chops, whole chickens and duck, multitude of cuts in homemade marinades as well as condiments, produce and daily made Cottage and Shepherd (lamb) Pies. A popular place year-round and must stop when for a BBQ.

Great butcher shop in the area. The service here was great and knowledgeable butchers. We had a party for the weekend and needed some great steaks. They are full of knowledge and by giving them the amount of guests and what kind of steaks we wanted we got 3 wonderful tomahawk 3 in. thick ribeyes. Tender, flavorful. Great steaks. Will definitely be our go to butcher shop in the area.

Sausage case, not to be confused with a sausage casing.

This place has ALL THE SAUSAGES. But we already were having ribs for dinner, so we only bought seven kinds. We got: Bacon bourbon horseradish sausage. Spanish chorizo. Hot Italian sausage. Sweet Italian sausage. Pineapple cherry chive chicken sausage. Buffalo wing bleu cheese chicken sausage. Chicken and waffle sausage. Honestly, I would only recommend... ALL THE SAUSAGES. They were all delicious. Although, it's tough to tell them apart (before you bite into them) after they are cooked. Try and have a system, so you know what you're eating. But you should definitely get together with a bunch of your friends and have yourself a sausage party. I'm pretty sure there are no alternative meanings for that term.

My first instinct is to tell those who buy their meat from Citarella that they are fools... but if I say that I will have to wait in an even longer queue to get much better quality meat at a much lower price. So I will say nothing!

Gorgeous beautifully marbled bone in ribeye!

Steve is the best butcher ever! Best quality, best service and a wonderfully snarky sense of humor!

Wild Caught Fish has brought my once borderline-high cholesterol down to normal levels. I love their Wild Ceviche, Wild Calamari, and Wild Rock Shrimp. Prices of seafood are comparable to those of other high-end grocery stores on the Island, such as Wegmans and Whole Foods Market, but Citarella has a larger section of wild caught fish; for example, I do not see Wild Caught Ceviche anywhere but here. The store has other things that I want: gourmet cheese, smoked salmon, caviar, Wagyu beef, nice homemade soups, etc. Everything always looks fresh. Staff gives expert advice and stellar service. Today Zaheer, from the butcher chop, took my order and did an excellent job. Lastly, there are small tables outside to dine. You will find everything you need here for a quick lunch. I enjoy grocery shopping here even though it takes me nearly an hour's drive to come. This was my 400th Yelp review, and I proudly chose Citarella to mark that milestone. I hope that my experience delivers an impact on those who read this review.

It's hard to justify spending that much on basic groceries when there are plenty of other places offering similar (or better) quality for far more reasonable prices.
